    I'm a lurker...with a question

markat - when you had your exchange surgery, did you have drains? I'm looking forward to getting these hard TEs out but dread the thought of drains again.

I also enjoy hermitude. I have 3 cats to keep me company!

Hi Journey! No I didn't. It was awesome:) Join in our hermit group!

Thanks Camille. I think it adds to my hermitude. I'm expected to be out running around acting like nothing happened. My DH keeps telling some of my friends that I'll get back to normal soon. Well, hate to break it to everyone, but this is the new normal. I run my kids around and am getting back to volunteering and that takes all my energy. I no longer have the energy for happy hours and can't play golf yet. The important stuff is my girls and husband, everything else is on the back burner.

Markat I could never do all u do, I'm a lot older I know but people expect us to be what we were before and maybe alot of people are?  I don't know---But I do know I'm not--I'd like to be but everything sucks the energy out of me--Sweetheart u'r so young I hope in time u  get there or 1/2 of it--but don't rush anything u'll know--and believe me I'm not pushing u I do understand--I'm so so sorry this illnes came to u, for me I'm so much older it is what it is and it's OK. But I pray for u with y heart u always seem so sweet and u do get out and around so that's good and u'r family is very important to u.

Hope everyone is doing ok.  I have my second Herceptin only today.  Surgery is in one week - yikes.

Social butterfly tonight - my oldest daughter and I are going with a friend of hers and her mom to see Tim Gunn from Project Runway in a lecture series at a local college.  Meeting for dinner beforehand...

Trying to decide whether to wear my wig - it has cooled off a little here, still not chilly by any means.  For fashion reasons, not because I am concerned about wearing a hat/scarf...just wanting to do something different.

OH Kl there are no fashion rules for us LOL do what's comfortable always.

Compazine seems to help with the nausea - but it gives me blurry vision.  I have to use my driving glasses just to read the computer screen.  So, I guess it's an improvement but it's keeping me off the computer more.

Still got the 'taste' problems.  It's not a metallic thing though so metal utensils don't seem to make a difference.  I just can't stand the way breads and white cheeses taste right now.  I did find that a nice lunch of salad (lettuce, cabbage and dressing) went down well and dinner tonight was some cooked zucchini.  I can also handle ice cream just fine especially with chocolate.   My other current thing to 'eat' is wintergreen lifesavers.  Those help with the generally bad taste in my mouth.

I've just been laying low since chemo last Thursday.  I can't drive with my eyes the way they are anyways.  I'm not feeling that bad  - mostly just achy, tired, very slight stomach issues and the occasional bit of D.

Oh Jinkala I'm glad it's not to awful, but bad enough I think--Maybe u'll get on kicks of different things u like and can eat and it tastes good, then u'll like something else---like pregnancyLOL U'r doing good just letus all know all the time how u feel. OK

OK if u live in a cold climate and cant sleep one nite closer to the holidays this is what we are goin to do.

Isn't this neat---It looks like it would be fun and cheap and when it starts melting put a new group up. LOL

camille - too cool!  I wish I lived where it snowed so I could do that!

jinkala - just eat what you can - your taste will come back eventually!

We had fun last night!  Tim Gunn was really funny, just spoke off the cuff about his years revamping the fashion school at Parsons, took some questions and then did a book signing.  So yes, I shelled out the $$ for the book for Sarah.  You only live once, right?  I have a pic I will try to post in a bit.

Klb cool--tat does sound like fun last nite--se every so often we get oit and have a good time. This does not mean I'm quitting the Hermit club cuz especially when this weather changes I'm in. My oofy sister is always saying OMG if we fall we'll break a hip now--Geeze Well y cousin did break her ankle not to long ago just walking down stairs so so I'll be hybernating (sp) thenso u guys better not leave me--I'm very comfortable here and one other site--when we get to technical about cancer I'm lost really I just know what I went thru without all the medical talk. As u must know by now I take the lighter side of all this, can't helpit just me.

camille - humor is the only way to go with this crap.  Yesterday, I walked into the waiting room to get my purse from my mom before I went to the infusion room for my herceptin.  As I got it, I said (loudly), "wait, why do I need my purse, it's not like I am going shopping back there!"  People just looked at me funny!

    Here is the pic...pic

She was SOOOO excited...I thought she was going to faint. Her friend that we were with is REALLY into design - she actually sews, etc...and does have aspirations to be a designer.  But Sarah was just star struck.  When we first got there and her friend bought the book, I was like "no Sarah, I am not paying 30 bucks for a book, we are here and that's enough" - then after I found out about the signing, I went and bought one and they said they were only going to sign the first 100 sold at first but since they were only slightly above that number, he would sign them all :)  He was a SUPER nice guy.  We actually left during the Q&A so we could be first in line for the signing...it looks like an interesting book, it is on the history of design.

Kl That is such a wonderful thing to have interest in, u never know, but it's fun and u do get a satisfaction when u use it. But sewing to me isn't easy, I have sown but not well. But u can really do u'r own thing. That was nice that u bouht that for her. Well she sure looks hapoy.

The social butterfly flies again.  Tomorrow I am meeting up with a BCO sister from the March boards and then on Thursday, I am meeting my 2 friends in town for lunch. I don't think I have enough clothes to go three days in a row!
