Mags I would definitely get another couple of RO opinions, some places do rads with wonen face down, others with arm stretched out at right angles, others with arm above head. The equipment moves around patients so it may be a case of re programming equipment, trouble is so many doctors focus on treating the cancer and forget about humans too......

    Good luck

hi Onco! I will not be doing recon any time soon, am waiting at least a year. The more I read about TEs and such, the less I am interested! need time to get over the trauma. My PS had said that since i need rads, it was a bad idea to do any recon before, it would just cause me more surgeries and complications. At the time I was unhappy with that, but after bmx I can tell you that I so appreciated her wisdom. I just am not ready. For now, I will be deconstructed!

Today DH and I are going out galavanting, it will be nice to get out. Went for a walk last night and saw lights, it was a treat too.

    Have a happy day hermies

    Good Morning All

I am trying to find my internal place of peace and normalcy after the Christmas build up.  I love the months of October, November, and December but the switch to January always unbalances me.

Lily, your Christmas Day post seems to say that you have found some serenity ... I hope that is true as you deserve it.

Jazzy, that sunrise picture is fantastic.  You asked about the weather here ... we had wind and rain but no snow here in the valley ... the mountains did get snow which is sorely needed to help with summer water supply.  I enjoy the wind because I enjoy the moving shadows that it creates with the bare tree branches.

Mags, I am hoping the pain management people will find a solution for you.

Hi Sailing Wind ... wonderful name ... is there a story behind it?

Better post this before I lose it ... will be back.

Sally- I think January is hard for many after the busy fall and holiday season. I will say there used to be a time I dreaded January too, but sort of look forward to it these days as I like the holidays less than I used to.

My mother always said a person needs to have something to look forward to, and agree with that. Is there something you have been wanting to do that you might be able to do in January or February? A place you have wanted to visit? A hobby you would like to learn more about or start? A book you have been really wanting to read? Some movies you want to see (lots of good ones out now....) I think something as simple as finding something(s) on our "bucket list" can feel very fulfilling during the slower winter months. Just an idea.

Ducky- that is a hoot! My guess is you are heading home?

Glad you liked the photo. I think northern NM (where that was taken and where I spent my Xmas holiday) is one of the prettiest places on the planet. Lucky to live so close to it too!

Back to the client site for some time there, tomorrow and on Wednesday. Hope everyone is looking forward to the new year and all it's wonderful possibilities.....

Wishing you all a good week and New Year too!

  • Good morning!  I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and that 2015 is a better year for all of us.    I'm done with chemo and tomorrow start herceptin every 3 weeks.  Exchange surgery scheduled for Feb 12.  I've been a total hermit as its been so cold and I've been so wore out from holidays I could stay in bed all day.  But today my 15 yr old and I are having mother son day and will go out to lunch and then see the latest Hobbit movie.  Should be fun and I enjoy spending time with him.  Hope you all have a happy and healthy New Year!

My sweet DH got me a hermit bed chair for Christmas. It's on the daybed in my studio, which has a tempurpedic mattress. It has a massager, a light, and a cup holder. What else would a hermit need? Here's a pic:

I had my PET scan today, went easy, I'll see MO tomorrow for results. I'll talk to him about the rads issue too.

    Now to hermit.

Maiden- congrats on being done with chemo. I am sure you are tired from all that has gone on, but hope you could relax at the movies today with your son. Wishing you better days in the new year.

Mags- what a wonderful gift from DH. I hope the new chair/bed gives you some comfort. Your DH is a thoughtful man.

It is bitterly cold here; in the 20s but wind chill has it feeling closer to single digits.

    hi maiden, woohooo! Congrats lady!

Mags, love love love the chair! I can finally operate the old school recliner handle now on mine.

Jazzy I think of you and NM when we watch breaking bad.....but yikes, it has not shown cold there yet like that! Still humid and warm here, like always.

Well, we do not go out on amateur night, but do get takeout. I have labs today and herceptin/perjeta tomorrow, and hope to schedule rads next week. A cancer gals life is a busy one, right? My body is healing from surgery very well, I am taking it slow and easy. Picking up my rx for foobs today, will get fitted next week. I just cannot imagine recon anytime soon, and am glad I had to wait. So many ladies in my surgery group are hating their TEs, etc. NOT READY for that!

Blessings to us all in 2015. Have a safe, peaceful, happy NY eve

Bippy- good to hear you are healing well. I have heard similar things about recon so you are best to take your time with that decision. And yes, when you are in treatment, you life is very consumed with that.

Blessings to you in the new year. Better days ahead.

As I reflect on all the good times I have had in 2014, I am thinking of you all.  Coming to this thread is a treat each day because it is a place where I can share with warm, caring, kind people.  Thank you all ... Happy 2015.

Maiden, I hope you enjoyed your day out with your son.

Bippy and Maiden, I am unfamiliar with Herceptin but am hoping that it does not give you grief.  Bippy, I see you are going to take Perjeta too.  I also hope the Perjeta does not cause you problems.

Mags, that massaging chair sounds delightful!  I hope your appointment today gives you good answers.

Hi Duckyb1.  Did you shop on the Miracle Mile?

Jazzy, we are having bitter cold too.

    Hi Onco.

Okay Jazzy, that picture has me feeling sand between my toes ... thanks ... good feeling!

A friend and I who have a lunch on New Year's Eve day tradition put our plans on "maybe" status yesterday due to snow and ice.  It is clear today on my side of town, so I hope she is able to meet midway between our homes.  Like Bippy, New Year's Eve night is a stay at home evening for me.  I won't even make it to midnight awake.  A local newscaster said that her family has an eat 12 grapes at midnight tradition on New Year's Eve.  The one for each month grapes are supposed to bring good luck.

Be Safe  ... Happy New Year

    Good New Year's eve Ladies.

Oco there are many sides of u, that was interesting.

BIPPY AND MAIDEN congrats for finishing this stage of all this crap- Even thos u are at different stages, at least u'r done this it. I like to hear good things.

Oh and Chevy is not new to these boards, in fact she's been here so long I think she was one of the originators. (see if she reads this) LOL

My Christmas was all effed up we were all sick , except Joey, so we stayed home and my DD1 picked him up and he had a ball, and now we found ut my one brother has lung cancer (no smking) just got it so we have to see how this whole thing is planned oit.

Jazzy u'r photos are so pretty and u still have that fun inside of u, even tho u have to get serious for work, so u can have the fun.

ducky where were u in chcago? Good pic,.

Sally I feel the same way about January, I gues Jazzy is right--It's such a dull month and everyone takes their lights down so outside is so dark and dismal and cold ---oh thanks for bringing it up LOL I'll be hanging my head low right with u. Shocked

I'm so confused with these days now, I forget I'm working some of them---I'm home tonight but I'm going out with some of my GF's Sat if weather is good, Sunday if it's not. We plan back ups now.

I smell really nice today, (took a shower) whatever it is I have on it's good.

Mags I'm so sorry u'r having all these problems, usually rads is just another thing to have done. But with u'r shoulder why don't u get another opinion, it wouldn't hurt just to talk to someone else. I don't know much about anything , u all know that, but I always think there is a way to get things done if u see the right person. But I love what u'r DH gave u, more reason to hermit I say, good for him. LOL

OK see who stays up til midnite tonight, I might but I won't be partying, just can't sleep.

Wishing you all uplifting evenings (mostly calm at home, I would guess...) I really appreciate visiting you here daily. I have faded from view in life for the time being. However, I think of you often and wish you all well. May you all find a peaceful place to start 2015.

Cami,  so sorry you and other family members were sick on Christmas ... happy that Joey was able to share Christmas with some feeling good family.  Sorry, very sorry, to hear about your brother's lung cancer.  I hope your plans with your GFs are carried out with joy.  What are you planning to do ... lunch ... shopping ... a movie?  As I think I recall from awhile back, you girls tend to laugh a lot.

Daisy, thank you for the wish of a peaceful place for starting 2015 ... I hope you too find a peaceful place to start the new year.

Onco, ... your Tao Te Ching quote is food for thought ... interesting thought.

like that Blondie......i won't bother with new year either, but in 2015 I HAVE to find the energy and belief(we survive on his pension) to leave my "relationship" of 19 years.........no work, no home, no breast, mutilated body, no money, but I need to leave, I am not loved or emotionally cared for here and I am deeply lonely sharing a house with a body not a person, not married so I will really be 100% on my own

Wishing everyone great health and happiness in 2015
