Hi everyone. Last drain came out yesterday and almost no pain meds. I just walked 7 k and it is unexpectedly sunny~~must really be spring. PS at 4 PM and I am sure I will have more of an idea of whether rads can start so soon. Unless my ROM is a lot better no way for CT simulation. I still can't do the wall exercises until Sunday, 5 days after drain out. Time will tell!

marian - congrats on the drains! As someone who had to go through 2 CT sims - one with one arm up and the other with two arms up - make sure your ROM is in a good place otherwise you'll be crying... Good luck getting those wall crawls going. One day at a time! Rest up and feel good!

shari - i had my chemo post-surgery so can't do a direct comparison with you, but was 37 at diagnosis and had positive nodes. My sense is that b/c of your young age and the fact that you are node positive (doesn't matter how many) - they'll likely want to be as aggressive as possible and go for rads. I wasn't given a choice in the matter. They all basically said - you're young and had positive nodes - we do it. And you want to give yourself the best possible chance to avoid recurrance. Its not so bad. If you made it through chemo - the rest is all a cakewalk comparatively. We'll be right here with you.

juneau - hotty totty mama! go get 'em lady!

I'm forgetting everyone... But I'm walking on air because it only took 2 needle sticks to get my herceptin line running today. And my meds where there waiting for me so it was fast and easy. And I got a close parking space. Someone must have been looking out for me. The poor nurse felt so bad she had to stick me twice. I told her twice was fantastic and she just gave me hope that my veins will make it through the rest of herceptin.

Ok - go find happy ladies. Hugs!!!

Marian, wow on that 7 k walk so soon after surgery. You are one tough cookie! No wonder they want to start rads so early - you will probably be good to go! Drains out is a real achievement. I remember one of my drains stayed in for almost 3 weeks - yikes! Hopefully that's not a predictor of how long I will be 'drained' after the DIEP surgery. We had some sun too this morning after a snowfall last night, but it is getting cloudy again. Sigh!

I don't understand why docs said if there were no positve nodes at time of surgery then rads would b overkill.. I tend to agree with u Ramols.... It's so confusing yet I know I getting ahead of myself bc I don't even know what the surgery results will b..,may need rads anyways....will b celebrating if no postive nodes after chemo but of there r.. Wil be dealt with

Dearest girl.  I am 51, feel like 21 and live close by to you.  MY birthday is May 31 so we are both crazy Gemini's I presume.  For MOST of my life I have announced to all family and friends that it is "My Birthday Month" and I celebrate ALL MONTH!  So let's plan a little get together for yours, OK?  Anytime you are free.  Your choice where we go and my treat!

Chrisrenee - I will be in your pockets tomorrow and hoping for continued good news!

Believe - let us know how you made out today at your appointment when you get a chance.

I have to tell all of you about my Happy moment today. I went to training at work and I know the instructor, but haven't seen her since before my chemo last year. When I got there she said how good I looked and while giving me a hug said "at least you didn't loose your hair." Although my hair is still shorter than it was (past my shoulders before chemo) it made my day knowing that my hair is long enough so I don't look like I had chemo anymore. I had to hold back tears after that.

I hope everyone finds there Happy for today.

Hugs to those that need them!

luv- I'm kind of a music snob. I love 50's will dance to 70's i can roll around on the floor like madonna in the 80's as well as headbang like motley crue and poison! haha. Those are the best genres of music.

Cmbernardi- That is so sweet of you. Will have to see about that, my hubby is very protective about me going out and meeting new people. He's my protector and i love him for that. After having my BMX last year i was paranoid about people looking at my chest when we went out. He finally told me that if someone wants to stare or say anything to let him him know, he would go kick their ass. I love my protector!

This could be bad did I count 6 May babies? I'm a true Gemini, I have split personalities especially when I haven't had my Effexor! haha

Momof 3- My appt is Friday and i will keep you all posted.

I talked to Occupational Therapist today to see if she would be able to measure my left arm (LE side) to see if MLD has been working. It worked in certain areas and hasn't in some. so I have my numbers will take it with me friday to see if she will write me another order for LE treatment. My OT said she would be able to get me in next week for another eval. My labtech at my Onc office is finishing her last chemo treatment friday, so i'm going to surprise her with flowers. she may not realize who they are from because she will be so drugged up from all of her medication. I'm super excited for her, once she's done with chemo then she goes in for another MRI to see if the tumor has shrunk then she will be able to schedule her surgery.

chrisrenee that is so nice of you and even drugged I bet she will know~~I think you must be a memorable person!

    believe, how did it go?

momof3, can't wait to be able to say that about my hair. There is a tiny bit of fuzz but so light it is hard to see.

liefie, I too hope you don't keep the drains after diep for 3 weeks; I did not mind 2 but having a shower was so nice!

600 cc fill this afternoon and it was no big deal though I did take a Tramadol as insurance when I got home. PS was happy and so was I. He will do another fill on Tuesday but said if ROM not enough then tell radiation to postpone. I see my PT Friday and we will confer further.

scottiee, I am thinking of having a glass of wine one of these days; time to celebrate surgery being well over! Just thought I would run it by you!

Marian- You had 600cc of fluid placed today in your TE? You ROCK! The most i ever did at one time is 100cc and even at that I was miserable for a day or two. On my friend, she was the only person that could get my one vein for labs and made sure i knew where it was just incase someone needed to draw labs. She's something else.

going across pinterest and ran across this. made me giggle wonder if it works for nip/tats too?

Hi all! I just finished rads 2 weeks ago and start my Tamoxifen tonight (she says, anxiously..). Well, I guess I am a survivor. I will def. have to check out the book shown at the top of the thread. Oh, and the one about Dancing in Limbo, too, ha!

This past winter has been a blur and now that I'm slowing down-not having to go in for rads on a daily basis-I feel like I'm waiting to just collapse,or something. This f*%king winter isn't helping much, either. Last year we were in the 80's in March!! Okay, we normally don't see 80's until June or July here in Wisconsin, but these single digits are for the birds!! We should have spring fever, not cabin fever!! Well, I guess if I can survive breast cancer I can survive another frigid Wisconsin spring. ((Warm hugs)) Sheila:)

Shianne - the silver 2Fried mentioned is it. I never bought any, the nurses keep giving me samples in little plastic bottles. It's a clear solution. I used hydrocortisone creme too and Aquafhor. Obviously can't spell any of them. Amazing what we forget. I carried a lunch pail cooler with these blue things that I bought at the dollar store. I put them on as soon as I left the radiation facility and kept them on, changing them frequently, since they'd melt and get warm. At least they didn't drip.
    Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Lostinmo - beautiful flowers, they dress up our page.
My Doctors appt is tomorrow, Thurs at 2:30. Glad you are coming with me! They took so much blood yesterday, I've been tired all day. Then I remember that I forgot to take my blood pressure pill! I need an ugly plastic pill box with the days on it. Yuk! Good luck Chrisrenne on Friday.

Shari - are you still working? What kind of things are you doing to keep busy. Your spirits seem brighter. It won't be long now.

Cmbernardi and Christy, wish I could join you for lunch! Have fun deciding what to wear!

Marian - cant believe you are exercising already - and enjoying it. Maybe I misunderstood.

Luvmygoats - how do you happen to have goats?

Liefie - where's you avatar? I always enjoys your posts. If you don't use something we will use our imagination...not a good idea.

Do you ever wonder if we will somehow figure out the common thread that got us here? For sure, it is not age. Some of you are way to young to be here ... But things happen for a reason, maybe we will be the ones to figure it out.

I didn't miss you Scottie - still thinking about the chocolates you posted. I still miss my sweet tooth the most. In the past, I would have eaten them all!

OMG chrisrenee, I have been complaining about chemobrain/post anesthesia brain but that typo was ridiculous! No way for 600 cc, only 60 and only 60 more and I am done. Small breasts and PS said I think that the mx was only 240 gms. Yikes, I need to pay attention more to what I write!

Believe, yes I am sort of enjoying the walking. But my memory sucks and even with one of those ugly pill boxes I forgot to take my Anastrozole last night. Today I put my Vit D and Calcium twice a days pills in it too in hopes I will remember those and the AI! Off to bed now and will take those pills!

Sweet girl.  Whatever you and you family are comfortable with in your life is perfectly fine with me.  Just let me know if you are ever lonely or in need of a new friend.  I promise you that I am not a serial killer.  My worst faults SOMETIMES become evident because I AM a Gemini.  So, you see you will get to know Carolyn very well, but Caroline may appear occasionally (lol).

Well Fellow Warrior Sisters, I had my Chemo #2 T/C treatment today at Texas Oncology Associates in Flower Mound and all is well at this late hour.  My MO, Dr. Nguyen is a wizard!  He gave me a  sample of something called Caphosal that is a supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse designed to prevent the oral and esophageal mucositis and dry mouth that hit me 4 days after my first T/C treatment.  I will begin using it tomorrow after the dreaded Nuelasta shot in the morning.  Thank goodness for my beautiful Sister Toni who is a nurse and understands this stuff so much better that I do and ALWAYS accompanies me to these appointments.

To all of you who are seeing your doctors soon or have in the last few days, Peace, Luv and Blessings!  Thank you all for being so wonderful and sharing all of the good and the bad news on this thread.  It is a tremendous support system and one that I could not live without daily.  Until next time, Ciao Bellas!

Dear Ladies: crazy, crazy at work -- closing two deals -- but have read all posts (it took quite a while!) and am thinking of you, hoping all your weeks are going well and you are feeling better each day.

The only thing that helped me with radiation burns & itches was Exclair cream, prescription only but worth it.

    Wishing you all restful sleep!

Morning ladies, quick check in before work.

Welcome to this crazy bunch of wonderful ladies SwgeeWi.  Of course you are a survivor.   I started tamox in December and so far not treated me too badly - few hot sweats which go as quick as they arrive... headaches at the beginning.

OK off to get ready - will chat soon.

    Hugs to all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Marian, I too thought that you just proved once again how tough you are with that 600cc fill - WOW! Like you, I got a kick out of my path report when I read that the breast tissue removed during MX weighed 225 g - yes, even less than yours, but then again, I've always just had two peas on an ironing board for breasts, so no surprise there! LOL. The only way I remember to take my Tamoxifen is to keep it open on my nightstand where I can see it when I go to bed. Whenever we don't sleep at home, I often forget to take it . . . chemo brain indeed! Vit. B complex is supposed to help the brain to fire on all cylinders. I am slowly getting better, you will too.

To all the May birthday Gemini's, congratulations in advance! Hope you are already planning something very nice for that day!

Scottiee, yes, I noticed you watching me in the gym yesterday. That's why I did the extra mile. Don't want to disappoint you . . .

Luvmygoats, thanks for the welcome back! Wish I could play with those goat babies! It brings back good childhood memories since my dad farmed with goats too, and we used to love lambing time so we could hold and pet those little lambs. They were always so cute.

Tazzy, you are so busy, but we love it that you check in regularly.

Believe, you will not believe it, but I don't know how to get an avatar up here. Technologically challenged, so embarrasssing. Will ask a computer savvy friend to help me get it done. Maybe I should just leave it blank, because you may be so disilllusioned when you see what I really look like? Hahahahaaaa!

Swgee, welcome here! Yes, you are a survivor indeed. This is a wonderful group of women from young to old, and we are living our lives in the best possible way despite bc. We WILL NOT allow that beast to steal our joy. It can invade our bodies. Our spirit? NEVER!!!!!

Everybody else, there is just too much to comment on. I do read all the posts though, and wish you well in all your endeavours, whatever they may be. Hugs to all!

Swgee - welcome aboard. We always think - the more the merrier. You will love the support we get here!

My Doctors office just called and she's out sick. We rescheduled for Monday. Pocket trip postponed. Hold on to those chocolates! I'm so disappointed! I guess I will bake today and make someone happy.

Liefie - you are funny. I am sure you are beautiful - just like the rest of us brave warriors!

Embook - glad you checked in and that you've just been busy.

Tazzy - this time I'm ready for our weight in, tomorrow, right?

Marian - can't believe how hard it is to remember pills! Our new normal.

Aruba - enjoy that sunshine, thanks for offering to share. Very overcast and gloomy here.

Make it a great day ladies!
