Ok ladies... I hate to burst your anti-exercise bubbles... BUT exercise is the #1 thing we can do to reduce our chance of recurrence. That's the only reason I tossed my hat into the gym. And I have to say... I like the way I feel after I work out now. Now granted, it took six months to get there; the liking ANYTHING about it; but I do! I like my achy over exerted muscles. I like feeling my heart pounding in my chest. It makes me feel alive!

Ok. So that's it! Give it a chance. Fake it til you make it!!! Oh and outdamn... I'm in your pocket too!!!

Had my U/S for thyroid this afternoon and tech seemed to indicate nothing to worry about. Also saw my physio who has been on holiday a month. I saw his replacment twice but not the same. Paolo thinks all my neck/head problems stem from radiation on top of surgery and is working on it. I see him for an hour next week as I get my youngest son's appt. in addition to mine since he is taking his older brother to Victoria (UVic) for his last term~~we hope! Meanwhile, lots of stretching, yoga, walking and letting my body heal.

Off tonight to a two hour session of a weekend Vaipassana meditation retreat. Tomorrow 9-5 and Sunday 9-4 but I figure even if I only last half days I will gain a lot and be reminded of all that was so great about the MBSR course I took at our cancer agency in May/June.

Oh at physio we talked about the fall and whether or not I will go to the Med and sail with DH~~probably not as I think I need to take care of my body pre exchange surgery. I recall my PS saying that more often problems occur 4-6 months post rads and just need this to go smoothly. I see PS Sept. 18 and will likely schedule exchange (plus augment on real breast) late Nov. or December. If all goes well I can still meet DH when he crosses the Atlantic and arrives in the Caribbean in December.

But I have to say that even after "active treatment" I still don't feel like any real recovery yet and for sure never seem to have a week off from appts. and next week I am having a mole removed~~again likely nothing but one more reminder of care that is taken now that I have had cancer.

I know this is what we all go through to some extent and also know that we are lucky~~most of the time I feel blessed that I am here to be telling the tale and I do take many moments to think about our sisters who have not been so lucky yet are facing recurrences with such dignity~~Stride you are truly an inspiration right now.

So enjoy the weekend and I will report back next week on how much mindfulness made it through to me! Juneau, I am still totally with you on the exercise front. I walked two 5 k's Wed. and 9 k yesterday and when I come home from those walks, I feel so much better. Yoga same.

Happy Friday all, DD survived her first week of school without too much drama.

I need to get back into the exercise routine, did great during Livestrong but then had my swap surgery and my butt seems to have molded itself to the couch holding me down. Darn couch anyway.

Looks like a hot weekend coming so might get to have some pool time finally. Have a great weekind everyone!

Believe- I can't wait to hear all about it!I know your mom is going to have a blast.

My nieces went home about an hour ago. I had a ton of fun with them, however, I do like my quiet house. haha

Taylor is just as tired as I am. she's already had a shower and back in her pj's. I'm probably getting ready to do the same thing as well. I'm exhausted. :0

Hi all - just want to echo Juneau's sentiments about a great day. Was so fantastic to meet and hug a sister in the flesh! I'd say I soaked up enough happy today to get me through the week, as i got to meet the wonderful juneau and her lovely hubby, enjoy stomp rockets in the yard with my boys, and then watch them eat chinese food with chopsticks for the first time. My 3 year old seems to be a natural - brought tears to his daddy's eyes (for those of you unfamiliar, Long Island Jews eat chinese food as a rite of passage ;)!. Perfect day! Hope you're all feeling good and finding your happy! Hugs!

Hi ladies,I am here too. One year post a lot of things. Just had my first bone density test.hope it's ok, sinceI have a terrible time taking calcium! I am on my third AI(Femara) as of a week and hoping, hoping that it does not make me feel as stiff and achey and painful other two did over the last year. School is about to start ths week- as principal I am revving up. So it is good, mostly. The Lexapro has helped! I like to swing by and see y'all too, we have been through a lot...

Ramols and Juneau Great pics- Who would ever guess by looking atat them that the two of you have been to hell and back in the last year. So glad you were able to get together and find your "happy" together!

Lisa good luck on the bone density. Mine came back osteopenia so I have had to do the calcium and actonel om. But if they will help keep bone mets from setting up shop now that my bones aren't 100% , I'll fight my way through them. Have fun with school starting.

Scottie nice you get to meet up with the others on BCO- I'll say one thing, you Canadian ladies sure do seem to get around! Yes have Jo post those pics.

Aruba you just keep partying as I know you will be heading back to Florida. You know I do need to get those muffin tops so I too can keep up with you on the calcium! lol

Ok Believe we are all WAITING!!!!!   Drum roll ..........................

Juneau - you and Ramols look fabulous! Aruba - cute, cute, cute muffins!

My Moms party was a total success. The 20's music, candy cigarettes, bubble gum cigars, games etc. She was soo happy. I will try get some photos on here before she's 81. My out of town company decided to stay longer so I have a house full of good friends and family. When my friends leave, my cousin is moving in with her dog. She just took a job in Sacramento and will stay here until her new house closes. I hope it's a long time because I'm ready to leave town.

What a great theme for a party Believe! My mom turned 81 yesterday and it was amazing that she has been around through so much history! My DD is going to be 13 on New Years Eve and she loved murder mysteries (think Clue, Whodonit, etc) so we are going to have a murder mystery dinner theater party! Can't wait. My DS (who is 7) has volunteered to be the victim. Brotherly love!

Juneau and Ramols - what great pics! Next time I'm in NY I'm calling Ramols!

So I know I mentioned it but on October 6 I'm participating in the Race for the Cure and would love it if anyone is in the area if they would join me. I would love to be able to add pictures to my race page for next year of my BCO sister warriors. Here is the link:

Thanks! Ok off to the gym.

    Happy Monday ladies!

Believe Im so glad the party was great-not that there was any doubt it wouldn't be the best ever with you putting it together. Bet your Mom was thrilled. There you are talking donuts of all things! lol I always have to hit up the krispy kreme store on my way back from my oncs office (much to his shagrin) but what can I say; it's the only time I ever go by the place and the light for the fresh hot donuts has been on everytime.
