Thanks everyone for the well wishes. It was a long week, but I'm super happy to have that experience behind me.
Happy Labour Day weekend to everyone on both sides of the border.

Survived another appointment! I asked about baby aspirin. My MO said it was good for your heart and could help avoid colon polyps. Ok to take it with Arimidex. Stop taking it if stomach aches or bruising. She hadn't heard it stops Cancer from metastasizing. She doesn't use the Blood Marker test for BC, only Ovarian Cancer. Wouldn't budge. I have lymphedema but not bad enough to go for help. I'm so over all of these appts. I don't go back to her for four months. Bone scan tomorrow, mammogram effected side in Oct. if you weren't all with me, it would be unbearable. Thanks for the company!
PaEaglesFan - you are brave. I considered that surgery too but chickened out. Let us know how it goes, I might reconsider.
Happy Labor Day week-end to all in the States. Do Canadians celebrate Labor Day? If you do, I know you love to party, enjoy!0 -
My cousin found this positive article on Baby Aspirin and Cancer.
http://www.integrativeoncology-essentials.com/2013/03/one-baby-aspirin-per-day-cuts-cancer-death-risk-by-up-to-60/0 -
Congrats Outdamnedspot, glad yu had that news before the weekend and can relax and enjoy it
Believe - great pocket party - glad we could be along with you
And yes, it is Labour Day weekend here in Canada also (just spelled slightly different ), have a good one everyone!0 -
Congrats outdamned spot and believe.:)

My MO told me that there is some evidence that aspirin lowers the risk of recurrence. She said the same for green tea. However she did not mention Vitamin D, which from my reading, has even more evidence of being helpful. Who knows, but I figure, can't hurt, might help. (An aspirin a day is not likely to cause any problem for most people, but if you are on any kind of blood thinner, or have a history of ulcers or any kind of excess bleeding, then don't take it without discussing with your doc.)

Woo hoo - happy Labour Day to us all - off camping again. Enjoy the 3 days off.

Believe great article your cousin found. Think I'll give it a try especially since I found another article on how baby aspirin may help with bones since I also have osteopenia. When you said you were getting a bone scan did you mean a DexaScan or do you need some other kind of bone scan? My Mo doesnt do tumor markers either for early stage 0 nodes; said they can be raised for alot of reasons other than cancer and that they increase testing and anxiety.I think he does them for stage IV though. Did you get your shingles shot. I didn't but I'm going to. My GP said as long as my immune system is ok and since I'm not on any kind of immune suppresants it's fine- even recommended since I just turned 60 He said make sure to get it before 65 because medicare doesn't cover it and it's expensive otherwise. Did you ever find out the diet information you were looking for? I had my doctor searching info on a supplement I wanted to take that was in a magazine talking about the Ayurvedic weight loss plan. He said since it was made up from 3 berries and he couldn't find anything really bad about it, he wouldn't object to my trying it, but he wanted me to know that I might want to stick close to home because diarreah is an occassional side effect. GREAT- LOL now I don't know how anxious I am to try it.
Jennie93 My Mo never emphasizes the importance of vitamin D either except to say make sure I take the calcium and vitamin D combination everyday. He does say weight is important since fat increases estrogen or something and always reminds me that estrogen is my enemy. So although I'm not obese or anything I have gained weight and am going to try to get on the bandwagon and try to lose. UGH! Have you had any fat injections yet? I had one and need another but for now I'm taking a break from it all. lol
Well everyone, if you're in the states, enjoy your Labor Day weekend or if youre in Canada and spell it wrong -enjoy your Labour Day weekend. (Have a great time camping Tazzy!) As a kid it was not one of my favorite holidays as it always meant it was the end of the summer and time to go back to school. However, here in Florida most of the kids started back mid August so they probably like it because it means they get a day off school already.

Hi all,
Congrats Believe and OutDamned, what a relief!
2Fried, what part of Fla are you in? I am back now with Dad in Boynton Beach. Wow has he improved in 3 weeks. Showing off how he can now use a cane easily but even walk a bit with no aid at all. Therapist says to still use a walker to prevent his other knee which also is bone on bone but no pain from getting worn faster. He wants to go to a local casino later today..lol. I'll oblige It is very warm and humid here, but I am trying to make an effort now since he is ok to be on his own a bit and walked 3 miles yest and again this morning. It is so humid that I am sweating through my shirt and I don't perspire much normally.
I was told by my MO from the getgo to immediately get on baby aspirin daily and boost my Vit D from 2000 IU a day to 8000 IU a day. Levels were in the bit low of normal range. My biggest SE now are my feet being so painful first thing in the morning..think this is from Arimidex as I never had this before and it is both feet. Yet, later I am ok to walk 3 miles, but still feel the heels all day..the morning I look like a 90 year old when my feet first hit the floor.
Think this weekend I'll take dad to a movie...anyone seen THE BUTLER? Did you like it or any other recommendations?
Stride, thinking of you...everyone have a good holiday weekend.

Is it normal to be depressed and/or anxious around your one year anniversary? Granted, I have had other issues going on, but in my entire life, including diagnosis and treatment, I have never felt like this.

Mary.....I think a lot of gals experience what you are going through right now....especially around anniversaries. Something about that first year anniversary seems to hit a lot of us. Let's hope it passes quickly. How's Ezra and your daughter doing?

Ezra is doing good. Too good. Last week his grandparents were up helping out. Nicole and Wanda went out on the deck with Ezra and Ada. Ezra started climbing on the porch swing like a monkey and started swing around. He is not supposed to lift or stretch. Nicole stopped him and explained why. He said he was tired of people and doctors telling him what to do and he just wasn't going to listen anymore. He stomped in the house and locked all the doors to the house. Luckily, the garage door was open, so he was shocked when she walked in from the basement, but she found him on their big TV stand ready to jump onto the coffee table. He's so frustrated that he can't play like he wants to. O2 sat are in the 90's, his ECHO looked good, good blood returns and no fluid around the heart or lungs. So very proud of that boy...

Mary - I was so busy around my 1st Cancerversary, I missed it. Get busy, is my best advise.
Aruba - great that your dad is doing so well maybe you can go dancing. Haven't seen that movie. Over anything Oprah. My toes ache too, especially in the morning. Feel like a wind up toy.
2 Fried - I was out buying Baby aspirin. Can't think of a reason not to try it. Drove all the way to my bone scan appt and the radiation person was out, rescheduled for next Tues so I went shopping instead. Not sure what kind of bone scan they are doing. I guess I don't ask enough questions. I have that osteopenia too. Never heard of it until yesterday's appt. I to have bone loss. Arimidex is wonderful, isn't it? I guess as long as it keeps Cancer away, it's bearable. MO told me my primary has to ok the Shingles shot. I emailed him and waiting for a response. I hope they don't hurt, better not knowing in advance.
I'm going to hit submit before I lose everything like I did yesterday!
Our schools started in mid August too.0 -
I have had osteopenia in my left hip for a few years now, my MO said he'll keep me on Tamoxifen for 3 years, then switch me to Arimidex. I've been menopausal since 2010....Different Dr's. have different reasons for dong what they do.

Thanks Believe, it was 2 weeks past last years Birthday that I got the call. Now I look at all that my life was this past year and I am focusing on the positives. Got to find out who my true friends were. Got rid of my saggy misproportioned boobs for ones I never have to wear a bra with anymore, so loving this during this hot spell. No more mammograms. And most important to me, I got to meet virtually and in person the most amazing women who I am happy to call part of my family and will be for many years to come! As awful as the initial experience was I never would have met you all so I consider that a big positive! Love you all!

Aimee, I agree so much ... Thankfully there was a positive in all of this. (((Hugs)))

Happy Labor Day everyone! I spent the day literally Laboring at work, ok at least 4 hrs. It was so slow i had one patient during that 4 hrs. Afterwards, i met up with my mom and had lunch then went grocery shopping. Pretty exciting day huh? lol
Last night i had every intention of going to bed early took my pills at 7pm and by 8 I was exhausted. I was walking to the bedroom and our electricity went out. I tried to stay at the house until power came on but by 9pm i was sweating like a stuck pig. Called my mom and asked if we could stay the night. of course we could haha. I drove to my parents house and almost fell asleep a couple of times. There's a reason why they say not to drive after taking these. Hmm swerved all over the road. Got to mom's and immediately crashed. Home now and time to cook dinner. Grilled porkchops french bread and homemade mac and cheese. yummy

Feeling a little sad today. Took DD #1 to college yesterday (soph.) sniff, sniff. DD#2 started her junior year in high school today. Where did the time go? Thank God for my dogs! (Oh, DH, also, lol)

Swgee, of course I am in your pocket too. Did you all know pocket jumping burns lots of calories😅
I still feel a twinge of sad whenever the kids are home and leave for their respective locations and they are 24 and 26! Part of being a mom but not easy!0
