lisa- hope you get good results on the bone scan
Not sure if it's the doxil, the warfin, or stress but have been having a lot of abdominal cramping this round making it hard to do anything most days. I had reached therapeutic levels on the warfin and got to stop taking the shots but then it dropped down and now back on them.
Believe we have also been busy getting the web show up and going releasing the first episode. Yay!1

Lostinmo - loved your video. I was able to watch about 10 minutes on my phone. Can't wait to see the rest of it. I will pass it around to my friends who all wonder what I'm talking about when I mention Quartzsite. I'm sorry it closes down for so many months. What's a little heat? I'm still working with the treasures I picked up on my last trip.
Blue pearl - that's not fair! No one deserves BC once, let alone twice! You are indeed a trooper. I also have a friend that had stage 4 cancer. She is still around and doing good. You are all keepers. Keep those appointments. We can't let this dumb disease win.
Hugs to all!

Hi everyone. I had my first mammo since Lumpectomy and it was clear!!! WOOO HOOO- I was so nervous since the cancer was found on my first ever mammo. I also had an ultra sound for a cyst they are watching. I get to redo both in 6 months. I am finding out breast exams are not such a big deal- I used to have to take Ativan to get through the breast exams and mammo and ultrasounds. Funny how things change?
I finally got my blood test for the genetic testing done!!! Now I wait for the results. I so do not want that gene, its so scarey!!
Thanks for all the support..

Juneau you've been quiet. All ok?
In pockets with goodies and big warm hugs for all.

Karen I'm here! So Sorry! I've been so busy - keep meaning to sign in.... one day this past month I did and the system was down for maintenance!
Just took 15 minutes catching up! HELLO TO ALL WHO HAVE JOINED US!!! You are SO in the right place!
Saw my Onc today- all looked fine.
Mom is HOME! Just last Wednesday she came home, and she can't drive yet, so I'm still rather busy (hence why I haven't been on here) - but she's home is all that matters and out of AFIB. Here heart is good and she's feeling great. In fact - she turns 75 tomorrow. My husband celebrate 16 years clean tomorrow as well, so it's a special day in my world.
My weight loss journey SUCKS... I went off track for a week and put on another 4 fucking pounds! Dam this Tamoxifen and insulin resistance combo platter! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But be that as it may - I have to keep on exercising and get back on track, or I'll become HUGE in no time at all! People keep telling me how great I look, but I can only look through my filter. I'm bigger, and disfigured.... but shit - I AM ALIVE... so what the fuck am I bitching about right? I SHOULD BE grateful, but some says it's so hard to get (and stay) there.
websister: hope they identify what's going on with your ticker and fix it like they did my mom. She can breath better and she has more energy an color in her cheeks. I'm saying prayers for you.
liefie - what are you having done to you hip?
tazzy - wtf - getting a ooph? Poor DH - asking questions you can't answer. Did you explain to him about the gift that keeps giving part?
Anyway- I'm leaving work and heading out to the gym now. An hour on the treadmill with a good book to occupy me seems to be working.
I miss you all (totally my fault) and make a commitment to be around more. and oh - Marianeliz.... I envy you your trek... I've always wanted to see that part of the world. (I ear my polar while house cleaning - not quite the same)
oh and chrisrenee - handsome son you've got there!

Hi, everyone thanks for the welcome. I also had my first mamo since my diagnosis and also got a good report. I am feeling so blessed right now, I am having some issues with hormone therapy but the clear mamo is making it all worth it. Now hopefully my ca markers will come back good when i next see my onc.

Don't mean to be a downer, but what exactly does a clear mammo mean? I also got the all clear mammo, but that doesn't mean there can't be mets, right?STRUGGLING due to much pain in other places.

First mamo since dx and there was no evidence of disease so I will take it and be thankful

Karen,
I know if I had not been Dxed with cancer when I had my first ever mammo I would not have went back for years- the truck that comes into our town has a lady in it who was so rough and would shove me around and demand I move etc.. I told her it was my first ever mammo and I ended up like a statue in there- I was so embarrassed I wanted to crawl under the truck floor- I ended up with her again for a spot compression mammo and she seemed a bit more understanding as basically the pics showed I had cancer but wow did I bruise after that. This time I went to the breast center and I was SOOOO scared that it would hurt badly on the surgery gal- but it was not bad at all.
I just know if I had not been diagnosed I would not have been back for years thinking they were all like the first one I encountered!!

Juneau, you asked about my hip. No hip problems, at least not yet - LOL. But I'm going in on Monday for the final stage of my recon surgery. Will be getting a nipple, a little lift of the other breast because recon breast sits a little higher, and a little liposuction around the tummy scar where there is some puffiness. It is not a big deal, but I just want it over so that this journey can finally be over.

HAPPY THURSDAY!

liefie: ah I misundestood. I had a lift of my natural breast to try to match the pertness of my foob on the right side. I envy you the tummy suctioning.... I would KILL for a tummy tuck!!!! *sigh* Big hugs coming your way and here's to hopefully your last surgery for a while!

Wow this thread has been quiet - hope you are all just living life. Finally managed to get into the garden and greenhouse this weekend.. yay!!So I will be getting my salpingo-ooph in about a month's time - quick eh? Pretty straightforward procedure. Recovery about 2 weeks - may take 3 to be sure plus I can putter in the garden - figured that's good recovery time.

Hi gang,
Liefie, hope all went well today!! Thoughts are with you.
Tazzy, that does seem quick..but that is good. You'll be done and can recoup with glorious weather.
LostinMo, 2Fried, Websister, Lisa, and everyone else...hope you'll check in ...thinking of you and hoping everyone is doing ok.
I just got back from a weekend in Indiana to visit my DD. Her college soccer team played the Haitian National team and won 2-1. The real season is in the fall, spring is several games to keep them in game mode along with working out and practices. Soon they will leave as school year ends.
Tomorrow am going back to the ortho surgeon for a wrist check. I still can't turn my palm upward and have quite a bit of pain with certain movements. It's been 3 months..enough already. Still going to therapy every week, but Dr. said to check back with him after a few months of therapy and so I will. Quite weekend with hubby out of town coming up..then I go back to FLA for 2 weeks with dad. Figured out the secret to a good marriage...stay apart!? We seem to be doing very well in that dept....but 30 years together coming up..so must be doing something right :}

Thanks for all the good wishes, guys - they are sincerely appreciated! I'm back home, and everything went well. No pain anywhere, surprisingly, just a little grumpy and tired from the anaesthesia. I'm going to bed now to sleep it off, and will be back here later. A good night to you all!

Hi everyone
Tazzy - glad you have a date. The three weeks sounds wonderful, gardening is wonderful therapy
Aruba - hope the ortho surgeon has some answers for you and that you are able to regain function in that wrist
Liefie - Gentle hugs. Celebrating with you that you are done.
Have not been posting for a bit. Fatigue issue not getting better for me and have increased to full time hours for work - not a good combination. I'm going to take at least one vacation day a week for a bit and see if I can't get on top of this. I have lots of banked vacation time to draw from.
Today I had fasting labwork, echocardiogram, treadmill stress test and chest x-ray. The cardiologist will review with me next Wednesday, I know that I aced the bloodwork so it is not a hemoglobin issue.
Take care everyone

Ok so I am the weirdest person I know. My DH and some friends are going to Vegas for a long weekend of fun. I am sooo excited for him. He deserves this after the last couple of years. He is not a very good flyer (needs a few cocktails before boarding) but I am the one having a mini panic attack! My chest hurts (especially on the right where my BC was) and I feel like I am hyperventilating! I guess it's because in 23 years we've never been apart this long. Even during my hospital stays I still saw him everyday. I rely on him so much that sometimes the easiest decisions cannot be made without asking him. Thank goodness my MO put me on Effexor or else I would be totally wigging out! Ok thanks for listening. And if any of my sisters are in Vegas this weekend and you see a bald Italian, drunk Irishman, tall stick of a hunk and a 63 year old heavy guy - they're mine - please make sure they find their way back to their hotel!

So over the past week I have had an ultrasound of my abdomen that show my liver is extremely enlarged. Some of that is necrosis of the tumors but not enough. This is what has been causing the pain in my abdomen and back. I started a new chemo on Tues. Carboplatin and this coming Monday I will start Xeloda. This one is pills that I will take at home for 14 days on 7 off.
I want to say the I do love my MO he took me off the warfin and put me on a different med for the clots and now I can have my yummy greens back and I don't have to have my blood checked ever 3 days. Also no more shots in the tummy!!!!

Karen, you'll survive without DH for a few days. Find some 'girly' things to do, and line up a few friends - have some fun of your own! Remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder . . .
Lostinmo, happy to hear from you! Hope the pain in the abdomen and back can be brought under control, and hope the new chemo and Xeloda will do an excellent job on you. Big hugs!
Joanne, enjoy Florida! We are still shivering up here in Canada - lol.

it was still snowing near home so I will enjoy. Sorry because I won't feel guilty either. It was a LONG winter for sure.

Joanne - jealous enjoy Florida, supposedly our weather is supposed to improve tomorrow - really hope so
LostinMo - thanks for checking in. Sorry to hear about the abdominal and back pain and the not so wonderful ultrasound. Hoping your change in chemo will make a big difference in the pain and be easy on you. So glad you are off the injections, Warfarin and frequent blood tests. Some progress! Having those greens back in your diet should prove helpful for you also. Sending big hugs your way
Karen - how wonderful of you to do that for your hubby - hope the nerves have settled down and that you are finding ways to keep busy while he is away, sending more big hugs your way!
Take care everyone

Just realized that I
only posted to the Canadian thread a few days ago. It is late here and we have been having wake up calls at 0500 for elephant rides the past two days and tomorrow early as we head back to Kathmandu so will copy/paste my post. But it has been an amazing time here and after the trek I am amazed that today we did a 10 k hike in the national park in 34C+ temps and I still could manage it. I admit to exhaustion now but again I have to say that I am so happy to be able to manage this. Plus we saw 3 rhinos and loads of birds and at the end a big crocodile! OK, time so sleep!
Just read all your posts and welcome to you new sisters! I just got back from our trek to Annapurna Camp today and am enjoying a 5 star hotel tonight~~hot bath was first up then ice cold beer. I know that we can't all be trekking in Nepal post BC but I can't say enough about exercise~~it is so important. I have actually forgotten about BC for hours and I think days at a time. Yesterday I tripped on some slate rocks on the downhill path we were on~~I was with my daughter's best friend when we heard a mule train thundering down above us. I ended up falling spread-eagled and honestly did do the fall the best I could. Kath was horrified but all I said was grab my poles so we could get off the trail as the mules thundered by~~close call. I got a couple of scratches but Kath and I are still laughing about my first comment which was whether I had damaged my implants. I do have a tiny bruise under the nipple of my augment side but nothing else. It has also been so good to get away from appts. and just have the chance to appreciate life. Some of the comments above relate to that. We are living with BC~~I love that! Still no signs of LE so I feel blessed yet again with hiking at high altitude. The photo is of me just below Annapurna Base Camp and if you look closely you can see some low buildings above me. So, at age 65 I am again in the mountains of Nepal that I so love and I brought with me an eclectic group of 17, aged 28 to 66. I was not the oldest, my sister-in-law's partner from NZ was! Tomorrow we head by bus to Chitwan National Park for 3 days to ride elephants, watch for tigers, birds and rhinos and relax after a challenging trek. Life is good!
