Haven't been here in ages and wanted to mention a Great workout program download for iPhones and iPads...it's called "workout free" ( it has a rainbow icon). It is like having your own personal trainer. Everybody is doing so well with their workouts, hope everybody is having a good week :)

I got home from the hospital this morning. All they could find was a lowish potassium level. In doing research, that seems to be what could be exacerbating a radiation side effect on my heart. I'm going to try to eat more potassium-rich foods and maybe pick up some supplements and see if that helps. My friends were amazing, as always, and helped me get through this bump.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and support.

Welcome. You will find tons of support on these boards. As for the chemo you might want to find a thread specific on that. But I had AC every two weeks them 12 weekly taxol so very similar to you. Drink fluids and when u thought u drank enough drink more! Take the anti nausea meds proactively and don't wait til u feel sick. Eat small meals. Chew on ice chips during A to help prevent mouth sores. U will do fine. It is doable. Regarding taxol cross that bridge when u get to it! Good luck with minimal SE's.

Sheryl - have you tried Claritin for the bone pain related to Neulasta? Start it the day of the shot and continue for 7 days. There's a clinical trial going on now about it. I used it and had no bone pain.

I had DD AC every two weeks and then 12 weekly taxols...I didn't take the 4th AC due to blood clots (a rare SE so don't concern yourself with that). I had nausea for a few day each treatment and started to lose my hair after the second AC treatment. I slept well but lost my appetite for a few days after each treatment but the time goes quickly.  The taxol treatments were not bad at all, a little nausea late in the afternoon but Gravol took care of that.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Good Luck!

    Woo hoo Chrisrenee:

Cjohnson... yes drink lots of fluid.  I did AC x 4 but then went onto taxotere.   I used a baking soda mouth wash as well to keep away mouthsores.  1 cup warm water, 1 tsp baking soda, swish around mouth and spit out.   Also it made me very constipated so took senokot 3 days before chemo and normally 3 days after.... you'll find out what works for you - it may work in reverse.   Our se's can be as individual as our bc.   In your pockets though and sending hugs.

OK off to get ready for work.  Chat later ladies.

Okay so I thought I was up to the challenge with this chatty group...two pages!  Here goes...

Believe- Thanks for saying I look young!  I'm 47 years young.  Some days I feel 67 and then some days I feel 37!

Mcook- I'm one of these people who actually likes to exercise so normally I would jump at the chance to run across the US, but I'm in the south and that route doesn't go anywhere near me, but I'm so tempted!  Good luck today on your surgery.

    Tazzy- Love the whip picture!

Scottie- I'm glad there was one good news about your friend with no bone mets.  You have to celebrate the small things sometimes.

Juneau- I think the scale is going to go down this time.

Sheryl- Good luck with chemo today.  I always hated the day after chemo while still on steroids.  My body didn't know if it was hyper or tired.  It was a strange feeling.

CJohnson- Ice chips...eat ice chips while you are getting the chemo drugs to help with the mouth sores.  I swear you won't need that magic mouth wash so much if you just chew on some ice chips.  But dress warmly because eating ice chips will make you freeze your ass off!

I know I missed people.  It's impossible to keep up with all the posts, but that's what I love about this group...all the love!  xoxo

ChrisRenee Wow Congrats on 4 lbs! Thats great! (What's your secret MacDonald diet, martinis? you can tell us we won't tell Scottie. lol)

Butterfly I'm feeling for you as I know this is the last thing you need. It wasn't like he used to go to the bar before your diagnosis and he is just resuming the things he did before is it? Know that we are always here to listen to you, good or bad

Welcome sonson-You do look young-Believe is right!

McCook- How exciting! Like Juneau said you'll be able to sleep on your side. You'll also be able to do things like hugs to people without gouging them with the TE's! We're all in your pockets!

Take care all. Off to my Dads. It's always a challenge not to mention my secret BC.

2fried- I have actually been watching what I eat everyday and realized I'm nit eating enough. Haha for breakfast I have a slim fast with fruit and yogurt. For lunch either chicken salad that I bring from home or a salad in the cafeteria here at work. For dinner usually cereal because I have lost my taste for anything, after eating rabbit food for so long you kind of lose interest. Haha although I did buy a coke the other day drank 3-4 sips and threw it away it tasted horrible. Mainly its water for me. I have cut back on my exercising because I wasn't seeing any results.

      Hi gang,

Back from the BS..and first mammo.  My heart was pounding....they just did left side and all ok!  Dr. showed me  films and said I had very little scar tissue so instead of next mammo at 3months, I will have  mammo on both in 6 months !  I was so relieved, I acutally started crying on way out of cancer center..had not been there since radiation and I guess all the emotions just came to the surface.  While waiting I was thinking of you all in my pockets and felt a sense of calm.  Thanks!!!!!!

Weight..no change and I should be glad after my Fla visit.  I did just come home and have popcorn for lunch..it's my go to snack at 100 calories a bag.  Hits the saltiness and feeling full!

Hoping to hear good things from everyone else going to appts, surgeries etc. today!!

Great news Aruba! Collective sigh of relief. When I had my first mammogram after rads they only did the effected side too. Seems dumb to make us go back in a few months to do both sides, but what do I know! So very happy to hear the good news!

geez... dive back into work and get sent on 5 million appts and there is just no way to keep up with you ladies! I have been completely remiss in jumping in all the needed pockets and congratulating those on completing phases and getting good test restults. So - you all have me in your pockets and you all get hugs and high fives.

To you new ladies joining - welcome and sorry you're here. Stick around though - it'll be the best decision you make during this entire fiasco. As for questions about AC and Taxol - you got good advice so far. I don't have much to add except to reiterate: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate - and don't wait for ickiness to hit before you take the meds - just take 'em! When I felt yuck - i found kix, crispix, cheerios, graham crackers and applesauce to be good foods. Oh - and count txts accomplished rather than txts pending. And break it in half - AC gets it's own count and then Taxol. I found that helped to have different milestones. We'll all be here for you!

As for me - looks like my whirlwind of post exchange surgery appts are now complete and the end result is that after scanning my body up, down, left, right - they have no good explanation for why I exhibited stroke symptoms that resolved within 24 hours. I am an enigma. Free and clear to continue to pummel my heart and body with herceptin and rads. Set to start rads next week. Can't believe I've made it to this point in the journey! Phew! Anger is still creeping up on me more than I'd like - I miss my mostly sunshiney disposition prior to my exchange surgery. But bit by bit I'm getting back there. Had my 6 month f/u with my BS today and had to giggle. She took a look at my new foobies, got a bit of a smirk on her face, and said to me - "you're a bit bigger than you were before, aren't you?" I said you bet I am! Gotta have some kind of silver lining here!

Ok - enough from me. Going to try to keep up a bit better and put my smile on my face and find my happy as often as I can. Go get your happy today ladies! Hugs to all!

Wow! This thread is moving at lightning speed, I am so far behind and just cannot respond to all. Will say welcome to the new ones - you've landed in the right place with the lovely warrior sisters on here. To all those in chemo or radiation, hang in there. It sucks, but it does pass eventually. To those in other struggles, our shoulders are here to cry on. Feel free to let it out. Here is no judgment, just unconditional love and support.

Mcook, thinking of you as you are in surgery today.

Had routine mammo on Monday. It's clear - yay! Saw plastic surgeon on Wednesday, and DIEP flap surgery will be scheduled for last week in April so that I can recover before summer rolls around. Now that I have decided what I want done, I'm not really scared any more, just eager to get this hard TE off my chest, and a soft new boob in its place, with maybe a little lift for the healthy one so it won't feel too neglected with all the attention the other one has been getting - LOL. Will be in hospital for 3 - 4 days with three drains. It's doable. If I can survive chemo, I can survive this.

Tazzy, when I posted my weight here first, it was 161 lbs. Two weeks later, eating very cautiously, and exercising vigorously six days a week, I have lost only half a pound. This is really so demoralizing. I have never before struggled like this. Want to lose 10 - 15 lbs before the surgery, but at this rate it's not going to happen. It is so hard to stay motivated when the weight is not moving.

Ramols, glad you got the all clear to go ahead. You sound upbeat - go find that happy, girl!

Tazzy - no change for me weight wise either, but I can honestly report that my jeans are looser. I like what Butterfly (or was that Believe?) wrote a few pages ago about making healthy choices and taking steps in the right direction. The weight will follow but it is so hard not to get discouraged sometimes, our bodies have been through a lot.

McCook - so good to hear from you, tuck yourself in and rest up now

    Juneau,

You are so right, it is fear based. Had a really good conversation with a fellow participant about the unknown and the fear that I am helpless and definitely not in control. Thanks for the reminder.

Yikes scottie... I was hoping you'd somehow miss my post.   I will do better and pay consequences tomorrow :-)

OK off now... hugs and goodnight to all xxxx

Chrisrenee - thanks for offering ideas. We have in fact talked about migraines and headaches - although not silent migraines. I do occassionally get pretty bad headaches, but I've never considered them migraines since they don't come with auras and aren't totally debilitating. I did have a whopper of a headache the day of surgery, but was chalking it up to stress and dehydration thanks to my fast and lateish surgery slot. It is one of the things the neurologist asked about and we spent time talking about my headache symptoms. But since they include pain but don't include auras, I think they were pretty much ruled out as a cause of the stroke symptoms. Who knows what it was. Fingers crossed it was a one-time incident!
