Ducky, you don't have to leave.... No-one has to leave.... We are all so different.... Besides, I thought you said you WERE the prettiest! I'm not going to say anything about being older.... Loopy

Some of us, like Cammi, knows a lot about phone stuff.... so she thinks..... and some like me know about Chickens..... Some of us know a LOT of medical information that only helps US when we ask their opinion... I mean nurses, Doctors get cancer too, and it helps us, if we have someone else to talk things over with.

And I don't mind fun pictures also! In fact, I love when they make me laugh.... Or make me "swoon"..... (that's right along the time of hubba-hubba!)..... So it's just nice to have a lot of gals with different interests, and problems..... Maybe we can help, or at least offer each other support, and some warm hugs....

I just made those Red Lobster bisquits! Man, are THEY good! And some beef over Grandma's Noodles! There is enough for everyone, in case you want to get out in this weather.... It is now 8.8 degrees out!

I wrote a long msg and lost it.  To summarize...

Ducky don't leave. You are important.  Everyone has stuff to offer.  Anything that offends can be overlooked. :)

Di sorry you didn't get the fat graft and nips.  Next time..

Sas hope you are doing well. I always really appreciate all of the great information you provide.  Please keep it up.

4444 - please don't overdo.  And keep up the pictures. I love em.  ;)

We got our washer dryer and fridge today. Hubby is taking our first charity load.  I'm still on the parttime gig. Looking forward to its conclusion, but appreciate the money. This is paying for our new appliances. :)

Ok, I am ass deep right now so don't have much time! And why do my kids pick NOW to be hungry or say " I have a final tomorrow and need to read all of To Kill a Mockingbird"? But then his brother can't find the copy we bought last year. But yeah, it's an open book test and I need a hard copy! And my guitar is out of tune and I can't practice for my recital...etc.....etc...

Ok, back on subject! Nobody needs to leave! I have been telling my kids for years, even before all my chit, when kids would be mean or crappy at school...well I would always tell them that you don't know what that person has going on behind the scenes. Maybe something bad is going on at home or maybe they always feel left out, or maybe they can't afford stuff like what you have and it makes them angry. You just never know unless someone shares the information and even at is subject to perception. They may think what is happening to them is awful and you might not think it is that big of a deal. So until you know what's up, treat them like you would want them to act towards you and give it more than a fair chance. We have run across kids that were almost homeless, or had a really sick parent, etc...by taking this approach and have been able to help out this way. Sometimes the underdogs need to stick together too!

SO...I think this kind of applies here too. We don't know unless the others share what is going on. Sometimes they just don't share because they really want someone to care enough to ask. We don't know if someone waiting on test results is super worried, or if meds are making us crazy, or if mothers are, or if something else is getting under our skin. We just don't know. And everything here just like email is subject to interpretation and perception.

We all ended up here for one REALLY CRAPPY reason, but we all found our way here to each other! Let's keep it that way through thick and thin!

Ok I am done being "Life Preachy" as my kid would say!

Back to work, won't over do, but it feels nice to be able to. Things never felt really off normal but it sure feels good to just be back to basics!

    Love you girls!

Holeinone.....I make a practice of being careful what I say when it comes to medical stuff......however with LE the sooner it is taken care of the better.......mention your suspicions to you Dr.....anyone is good...RO, MO, or PCP......they will recommend a LE therapist.....make sure it is an LE specialist........make the appt, and they will take it from there..

Everyone does not get LE......know 2 people who had 25/30 nodes removed and nothing....I had 8, because the dye failed to show the SN.....all clean, but I got LE.....could have been from the Rads........could also be my lymph system was out of wack before LE...

Best advice......have it checked out to be certain.....hugs.

Ducky I got LE during my rads, that doesn't mean that rads caused it--but the Dr. noticed it and I was in therapy pretty fast to an LE specialist and I think it does make a difference so I was treated promptly, but my sister, didn't my cousin didn't, my niece didn't so whatever??? So I don't know if there is a reason or not. As usual

Cami.....there is a reason, but it does vary widely, so everyone has a different reason for getting it....have my new LE therapist, and love her.....so thorough but dealing with insurance info.........coverage........people who know little, but work for the same company.....(Aetna)........it gets scary when you have to tell them what is and is not covered from past experience.....when you got a custom fit sleeve, fitted wrong, made wrong, but covered just the same...covered mind you back in 2011...sent back.....gave up because no one could get it right......back to start over......now some idiot says...."not covered".........still another person says....." No we cover that".............again I am so frustrated I was near tears on the phone........starting over, get someone great who truly cares about my LE...and now the insurance is the problem..before it was the fitters.....said to the woman at Aetna today..".HOW ABOUT I CUT MY ARM OFF, AND THEN I WON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT ANYMORE...........OH BUT HOLD ON.....WILL YOU PAY FOR THE AMPUTATION" ........just so fed up......

I like fruitcake. Especially the kind with more fruits and nuts than cake. I also like white-batter fruitcake more than the spiced fruitcake. However, there is nothing worse than bad fruitcake and nothing better than a good one.

I agree with Ducky-get checked out for LE. Better to be told you don't have it than wait for treatment.

30 degrees here. Severe storm warning starting at 2 AM for cold weather and snow. Glad I don't have to go to work tomorrow.

    Everyone stay warm and safe.

Ducky I was offered by DH's insurance a Case Manager last year. I never returned her calls because I didn't really feel I needed it. My tx went pretty straightforward so I felt it would be a waste of resources. But I would have in an instant if I felt she could have helped me along. I bet knowing how big Aetna is they have the same thing. This was BCBS. MIght be worth a try. At least every time someone denies you something you can go to CM and pursue it. Kinda like the bulldogging effect.

In the meantime we need to huddle together for warmth. Sleeting like crazy here. DH home and DD home in her apt. Worse yet during the night - tons of freezing rain. Pray our power stays on. Prob. not above freezing until Sun/Mon.

Sassy - I did get bathtub stopper today since neither holds water well. DH says don't I think the water co has generators. Told him not taking a chance. My toilet's gonna flush. Town next door has a nice Ace Hardware. I think I need to shop there again. Got de-icer too!

    image

Oh, I know I forgot something. I love fruitcake. I have the mix in the baking drawer. DH despises it. My DM used to order herself a Corsicana fruitcake (famous around here) every year for just herself. I might have to bake tomorrow but no time to coat in bourbon (because I want to eat it now Lol).

Multi tasking while I eat home made chicken soup. Warm here, too warm but raining like hell

I like fruitcake just not with the citron bitter stuff in it! And booze is always ok!

I could have a case manager too. Talked with one that had lots of info. When I headed for chemo they sent me to someone else but I didnt keep up. It's Cigna.

Yes, get the LE checked out. Even just for a baseline. You can be fine and two years later turn up with a problem! I went to mine 1 week after first Mx. The theory is prevention so you done get it. I had awful cording too. Besides the massage and stretch feels good! Make sure like the girls said that it is a specialist!

Ducky glad you like new lady! Cami you are so right no rhyme, no reason!

Heading back out in the rain for work!

    Sas, any test results yet?

luv......did have a case mgr. right after the BC episode.....she was fantastic....got my custom sleeve, pulled all the strings for me......after you move along eventually they leave you....

The sleeve which she got approved and they made kept coming in wrong, so I gave up.......arm is getting a little larger, so fear has sent me back, however...no case mgr now, so doing this on my own, with Aetna reps who have no clue what is and is not covered....found a rep today who finally gave me more pertinent info.......fighting the good fight, and I am armed with a little more info tonight.....will continue to pursue this.....

Sure wish I had my case mgr. back......

    Thanks for caring.......please stay warm.....

Mine wasn't quite right and had to be remade too. It sucks to have to stay on top of the insurance and always end up with a different person on the phone. Good luck getting them straight. Good news is you like the LEPT lady and she is taking care of you. The bill you can worry about later. Trust me, they will call forever looking for their money! Good to nip it in the bud too!

Ok, soups gone. No more excuses, back to work!

4.... It is frustrating........gave up before after all the screw ups.....back to square 1, but will get it right this time.....not giving up....before I was dealing with Rads, fatigue, and decided enough was enough.......now I am just dealing with idiots, who know nothing about coverages....well 2 did, and going with their lead.......phew...

HI, sorry so late. Picked up report this afternoon. Every area of thyroid has increased in size. More cysts. Can't see any dramatic new addition from first report. 1. But My favorite Radiologist who for years always talked with me sent the me the message that he would prefer if I would talk with my doc about the results 2. there were several behavioural things about the technician that were suspicious i.e. over the top consoling at a given point. The easy out about talking with me was that he was too busy. I had laid the groundwork that I would understand if that were the case, I always do.  The tech may be like that all the time. Some staff instead of being poker face about bad news, present as she did.    AND my dear ENT doc is out till DEC 23rd. The bottom line agreement with ENT Doc after the bx was if this scan showed growth out the left would come. Since both sides showed growth, I.m guessing both sides will be coming out. At this point Jan looks like the target time. If it is cancerous I'll just deal with it.

Foley, Left a message on your recorder, in case you don't catch it and read here. The mainstay drug used in withdrawal is Ativan.. Please, check in with your doc. Re: use & dose. Also, keep a check on your Blood pressure and heart rate. Both will go up depending on withdrawal response. Ask your doc at what point does he want you to do something.

Di & Gma Foley, hoping Friday is a better day, & continuing to ease up over the weekend..

Di, the sutures seem like it would be scratchy, or really odd feeling

Cami, 444see, Ducky & Juliaana....I appreciate the LE info...need to have it measured & make a appt. with a PT...paying that deductible, for this year & 2014... I am learning that I need to be more vocal & in charge of my treatment...waiting for someone to come in and take charge. I did speak up & get a appt. with a genetist....

Trying to get ready for Christmas inbetween work and watching Austin it is running me ragged. I scheduled my left mastectomy and bilateral reconstuction with latissimus flap on December 20th. It's was the only way to have help, lord know Tim's parents can't help me everyday. Wouldn't bother asking anyways. My little sister, Heidi, will be off for Xmas break and said she would help me with Austin since I can't lift him for a while... I am so nervous such a big surgery. But I am so over it all, I just want to be done. Ugh I hate knowing too much :(

    Teka,  Yes Mamam :)

Stacey, such good news, We will be with you on the 20th. With Austin, It' like where does all that energy come from.

Thanks Holeinone, Everyone on BCO has something to offer. There are a few though that have taken on extra study. There's a link on flying that I'll drop off. The most knowledgeable sisters about LE are Binney and Kira. They are a gold mine.

    http://community.breastcancer.org/topic_post?forum_id=64&id=811841&page=1

Flatsy, same as Holeinone, lots of sisters have had deconstruction. There used to be a thread monitored by Kate33, but she's moved on with her life outside of BCO. Try a PM to Whippetmom--Deborah. She' the go to person on sizing, but gets lots of queries surrounding the whole breast issue.

Chevy, how are the Chicks. It's hard to fathom being that cold 16 below. If we get to external temp of 30 it's rare. Thanks for everything. :)

Foley, if the symptoms get too bad you can stop them by going back to the dose you started at. Ask Doc. Then knowing you are responding the way you are, you and he can develop a different reduction plan. This reduction isn't mandatory, it's voluntary. There is a difference. The assumption that a few extra hours or a couple of extra days and then you are done with it may or may not be true.

Thanks GG Cami, Jackie. Shells anyone I missed. Hugs.

Night Owls again I see! I just got home and put on my PJs before I started working again. Stuff boiling on the stove so trying to catch up!

Sas, about the scan ;0( I know what you mean about the techs though. When I left my mammo and they were all walking me out and holding the door, I knew something was up. Tried to tell myself it was because it was after hours and I was on crutches, but I knew something was not right. Hopefully it won't be that bad though. They can do lots for thyroid problems these days. Crossing fingers for you. The waiting sux though.

Gma, i didn't mean to add to your stress today. I really hope they find something that clicks for you soon. I hate taking meds of any kind. Feel Better. ((((((GmaFoley)))))))

Holeinone, yes you have to speak up! I used to be a passive patient, but then I am never sick, low BP, low cholesterol, etc..... Then they screwed me! Well let me tell you. I told all my Dr. offices to just record my first name as PITA (pain in THEIR ass). I have lived up to that, BUT I have had doctors themselves compliment me on how I have taken control and handled my situation. It is not that they are not looking out for us, it is that they have too many of us to look out for. You have to look out for yourself! Talk to the nurses and techs too. Often times they have their finger more on the pulse than the docs do since they are the ones in the trenches.

Di, hope they get those stitches out soon. Can't wait to see the beautiful result. I'm jealous, I want my upper lids done and don't want to wait for them to get bad enough for insurance to cover. Still keep trying to talk my PS into using that skin for nipples!!!

Hi Sweet Pea! we have bumped into each other before but don't think we have officially "met". I am the new PITA here!!! Sounds like your schedule is hectic like mine! I will never be ready for Christmas! I also have my swap surgrey scheduled this month because I am ready to be DONE too!! Good luck with the lat flaps. I may end up doing DIEP if the implants don't work or I don't like them, but figured baby steps. The TEs have been ok, except if I hug my kids they bounce off me and land across the room. You are braver than I am!!

Ducky, if you miss the grandkids I can send you mine any time. One at a time or in pairs, just let me know!! Do you smell something burning?? Oh, shit..........I have noodles boiling!!!!!!

OK, saved the pasta and moved the creepy Elf. My daughter freaks if the Elf doesn't move!

Luv, hows the weather holding out??? It is raining here still. You too Cami and Lili??? Hope you are all tucked in!

Hi Julia, glad you don't have to go to work today too!

Shells, I think you had today off? Hope you got some R&R and had a great day.

Wren, that jewelry sale sounds like it was fun!

Hi Teka, glad things settled down with the family stuff for you. Hope your cat gives you this message!

Flatsy, sas is right, you should look up Whippetmom. My PS changed what style implant he was going to use and went with her suggestion! She and the other regulars on the thread have a lot of great info. I think it is "Implant Sizing 101" or something like that. I never wanted to wear a bra either. Hated the things.

Spookie, thanks again for the offer on the arm brace.

Hey Chevy, I know you are asleep becuase you get up with the chickens!!

GG, Hope the move is finally starting to settle down. New appliances would be so nice. Ours are starting to go. Broken handle on the microwave, DW crapping out, etc....

Chickie, hope you and John got some rest today. When do you leave on your R & R trip???

SavGiGi. Hope all is well. Is it hot down by you too? Had to turn on the a/c humidity was so high!

And Charles, we haven't met but it is nice to have a celebrity drop by!

OK, off to bed. I gotta get up with the chickens too. If I missed anyone it was totally unintentional! I blame it on the late hour and the migraine from the storm front!

    (((((((((((((((((((image))))))))))))))))))))))))))

ok, that didn't work like I had hoped, but you get the idea!!

Please think of us in Oregon... Looks like Gma will be getting about 2 feet of snow. About 4-8 inches of snow where I am. I'm from Denver so have had plenty of practice driving in snow. Unfortunately, many folks who live around here have no idea how to do it.

Foley I hope u'r doing a bit better and the Dr. said Ride it out??? Wow I ws surprised at that one, but that could be all they know--I would call my pharmacist and see what can assist my ride better--they might know more about meds. They usually do/

Oh Chevy should be getting u soon, even thos she doesn't feed the chickens she has an alarm in her head for the chickens. But I'll be nice to Chevy she's a sick woman and has to heal, So relax Chevy, besides it's colllddd

Morning Cammi! I'm up! Did you STAY up? It is so cold here... 0.4... So that means we don't have any temperature to worry about...ha!

I don't know about the Chickens... I won't call her... I'm surprised "she" can find her own car in the garage...much less remember to check on her chickens. They must be okay though.... They do huddle together up in their heated nesting area... So that must be where they stay most of the time.....

Can someone please tell me what happened to our Veggy? I can't believe that she is gone! I know I have been MIA more than not these days, but sheesh, I don't expect any of you to up and die on me! Red was bad enough and now Veggy....ugh!

Sas, I am praying for a good result with your thyroid.

    Shells, your eyes look great!!

Cammi, are you still afraid of chickens? LOL

    Chevy, BRRRRRRRRRRR!

Ducky, I hope that your insurance is straightened out soon. They can be a nightmare! As for case managers from insurance companies, some of them are MANDATORY when you have BC.  I had to work with one when my employer had us using CIGNA or they would not pay for my treatment (WTF???) but she was not too bad and did help me a bit. Now I am with a different insurance company (we change almost yearly depending on who had the best rates which is so damn stupid but I work for a non profit and they pay 94.5% of our premiums so I can't really complain) and they don't have case managers for BC patients.

GMA Foley, I watched my hubby go through withdrawl and it was awful. For years they doctor had him on pain killers for his knee. Then he had it replaced and the surgeon gave him two weeks worth and told him that was it. His PCP said it was in the surgeon's hand now so as you can well imagine, after two or more years on oxycodone (40 mgs a day) he was just told to suck it up! Not the way it should be done.

I have ativan for anxiety and I don't take it often and so I gave him some as my brother told me that would help him and it did. Maybe your doc can give you some of that medication?

To all the rest of you, I am at work so not a lot of time to hang out, but wanted to let you know I love you all and miss you. xoxoxo
