Sorry to hear your tummy is still yucky Zills, hoping it is soon better.. wish I had some words of wisdom for you.

I am kinda behind in reading all the posts but had a chuckle about how to explain a skunk smell.. pee yeeww is all I can say! DH had to shoot one in our yard this spring, glad he is a good shot and dropped in and he didnt have time to spray! Sorry to all the PETA people out there but when you live in the country you cannot have skunks in your yard at any time.. they can be rabid quite easily and this is how we take care of them.

Ariom.. I am still waiting to hear if you have tried you contact foob yet??

GrammaB.. our heat is gone as well, I wish it was just a bit warmer here but still nice weather, but our mornings are so cool it almost feels like fall.. how long have you been in MT? Maybe your winters arent so bad, I know not as bad as ours.. ND is the land of extremes.. either terribly hot, windy or way below zero! I guess you dont have to be crazy to live here but it sure helps!!Smile We do love our peace and quiet  tho and the wide open spaces.. the city is a fun place to visit but I dont want to live there, but someday I am sure we will have to leave our little hamlet!

    Take care all.

    Good Afternoon all!

I was up and out early this morning, so glad there weren't heaps of posts, or I wouldn't have made it:)

I have done all my food shopping for the weekend, and I am about to change our bed. A few lods of washing today, the wind has kicked in, but it is still sunny.

Glad to hear the green tea and ginger is ok. Did it make any difference to your stomach?

My reflux has kicked in again this week too. I don't really know what does it.  I have a Doctor appointment, just for prescriptions, next week. I'll ask if there is anything else available that works for longer. My Tazac works, but not for long enough. The QuickEze takes away the worst of it, but I'd prefer to just find a longer acting Proton Pump Inhibitor.

I have just noticed that the bloody Mondors cording I got after the Mx is back. I got rid of it completely, but the last week or so I have felt the burning sensation under my ribs again. I massaged some oil on the "area" and could feel the ropey cord again. Thy told me that it was possible to get it back again, but I can't imagine what may have triggered it. It isn't really a problem, it is more the idea of it that I don't like. Hope it goes away soon.

Well, wasn't that a whingey post! Sorry girls!

I was going to take Dex out walking to try for some Black Swan photos, but the wind is nasty, maybe tomorrow ldesim.

Oh, meant to tell you about the Podiatrist visit yesterday. It was a hoot and went nowhere. The Podiatrist is a lovely man, who is the husband of the woman who did my mammo, that started all of this last year. During the mammo, while chatting we discovered that she knew Colin, and then we discovered that Colin knew both of them. Small world...I digress. He had asked me to take 4 or 5 of my favourite pairs of shoes to see if he could put something in them to help with these Rheumatoid Nodules on my toes. That was difficult, I have more than 4 or 5 favourite shoes. Anyway, none were even vaguely "appropriate"! He went off, and returned with 2 shoe boxes and a catalogue of what is deemed "appropriate" footwear. Well he pulled shoe number 1 from the box, and I started to laugh, he really didn't get the joke, but as he opened box number 2, I couldn't contain myself. They were the ugliest, "Nursing Home" shoes I had ever seen. He cajolled me into trying one on, just for the fit, I was almost peeing my pants, I couldn't stop, and he started to laugh too.I was wearing black Audrey Hepburn style 7/8th pants and a black roll neck sweater, with a little black suede ballet pump on one foot and Herman Munsters Shoe on the other foot. It was hysterical, and I wonder what the other patients in the waiting room though was going on in the surgery!

I managed to contain myself long enough to tell him "I'd rather stick pins in my eyes, than wear anything that vaguely resembles this!" and then we both went into hysterics again.

Needless to say, I won't be buying any of the "Appropriate Shoes".

    Take care everyone.....M x

ndgirl, I still haven't tried the Contact. I have been so busy that I just haven't had the time to trial it for an hour or so and then change again. I will definitely do it this weekend. I want to know how it feels too.

I promise I'll give you a run down later today or tomorrow. I am about to change the bed and do some washing, so maybe not the best time to trial it....M x

Moira, You had me laughing so hard about the Podiatrist appointment, I almost peed my pants!!  I don't think there is a man that walks on this planet that understands anything about a woman and her shoes!!  I love the "Herman Munster" shoes!!

Sorry about the reflux, I battled it for a long time until I went seriously low carb high fat way of eating.  Gone, never to return.  I have to look up what Mondors cording is, maybe I shouldn't just yet..., but I am sorry it has returned.

ndgirl, did you get your bracelets?  I'd love to hear what you think of them. I really liked the lotus too, my other favorite was the $58 OM bracelet.

I have a questions for those of you that have had them for a while.  How do they hold up being taken on and off frequently?  I so love my seven swords, I feel the connection as sisters when I touch it.  I want to get another to hear the song they make together, but if they don't hold up to taking on & off... I am a bit OCD and do wash my hands a lot especially because I have to test my blood sugar often, so I may take them off more than others would. I'd put all these charms on a chain and wear around my neck at heart level in a heart beat. Then I wouldn't have to worry about the water daily, just take it off when I shower, but I do love them as bracelets!

bobo, if the princess wears them she must get them wet often and take them off a lot. How are hers holding up?  Just questioning durability.

    Hey grammaB!

    How are you doing?

Oh yes, the Podiatrist appointment was a dead loss, and he was quick to admit that he really didn't "get" the whole female shoe thing. He also can't understand how I am comfortable in the shoes I wear. He has a lot of experience in Rheumatoid and believes that I must wear a significant, closed, hard sole shoe, ie Herman Munster. I insist that my type of arthritis does not respond well to being harnessed like that. Very soft suede, or glove type leather is far better for me because it doesn't try to restrain my joints. He was mortified by my Merrell walking shoes, basically soft mesh with a flexible walking sole.  I told him i can easily walk Dex for an hour or more in these, my favourites, and even climb the "Ramps of Death" in them.

I'd have to say, don't bother with reading up on the Mondors gB. It is rare, and not really a bother. Don't give yourself anthing to concern you leading up to your surgery. The Doctors are only mildly interested in it because of its rarity, but because it is "self limiting" there isn't any treatment required. I went for the massage and the hot water bottle approach, but I think it would have still gone away when it did, whether I'd done anything or not. I really just don't like the idea of it. It is a large ropey tree like thingy, under the skin. A bit like a varicose vein on a leg I guess. Like a hole in a tooth, I can't leave it alone, and find myself feeling for it when I am sitting down watching TV, or relaxing.

As for the reflux, I have regular gastroscopies done, and it is Gastritis, which is inflammation, as is Rheumatoid. I try to eat a lot of anti infammatory foods. I also have a sliding hiatus hernia which is the cause of the reflux. When i was given the chat about the Fundoplication Surgery to fix it, I opted out because although, not a difficult surgery, it doesn't always repair it, and I was told that it prevents you from being able to burp, and a side effect is spontaneous farting. Good grief, who wants that as regular occurrence?

    Take care M x

ndgirl, Two thumbs up for the Contact!

I have had it on all afternoon, and it feels just great. I will need to get a bra that is more of a full cover bra because what I have, wasn't quite covering the edge of the prosthesis.

I intended only to wear it for a short time, but it is so comfortable I just left it on. I have been bending and stretching, hanging out washing etc, and it hasn't moved. Altough it feels reasonably heavy when you hold it in your hand, it feels really balanced and "normal" when attached. The very best thing about it, for me, is that there is no "fall forward". I just love that ! I absolutely hate that "kathunk" feeling when a heavy prosthesis falls away when you bend over.

All in all it feels like a really positive option!...M x

I know it is early days, but I am really glad I got this one. I'd be surprised if you don't love this one too ndgirl!

Bobo. I took a pix that my nephew drew and had it specially treated to hang in the bathroom so the steam wouldn't ruin it. I just went to one of those you frame it places. If you don't have one, Michael's may be able to help. Don't want to ruin his essay and with one bath, it will get alot of steam!

Ariom. How did the pink ladies go? I love Merrill shoes. Our back surgeon friend recommends them.

Green tea must have caffeine in it. I cleaned out two drawers, boxed up all my feminine products, threw away all my makeup and sorted the train table. And no nap! Felt pretty good until nausea reared up about 3ish.

Nurse called back about 4:30! Changed from Xanax to Ativan. Said it would relax my stomach. I could tell it relaxed my muscles but not my brain. It went right round.

Didn't sleep well. Baby up at 5! Will finish my green tea/ginger concoction this am. None after lunch or at least plain!

Found an old cell phone. Thought baby would play with it. Boy has commandeered it. Pretends to call or play games. Even puts it in his shirt pocket like Daddy.

    Hi Ariom!

I'm doing OK, getting a little more nervous each day.  I've been taking the Xanax just at bedtime to help me sleep, but finding I am having very distrubing nightmares the nights I take it....not too thrilled about that! I have had lots of adverse reactions to meds before, I seem to fall into the "this only happens to less than 5% people" club. :(

Not long after my husband's passing, I was suffering from depression and not being able to sleep. I had a psychiatrist try a bunch of antidepressants, Paxil put me into anaphylactic shock, couldn't take Effexor, there were a few others, I forget them all.  Then she put me on an anti psychotic, Mellaril and every night I had the most frightening nightmares, every night.  Couldn't take that one!  Then she tried an anti seizure med, Neurontin (Gabapentin) for a month I felt like I had a steel band around my forehead slowly being tightened every day! It felt like my head was going to explode!  With Ambien I had the amnesia nighttime eating and going out side barefoot in my pj's (which wasn't good in 0°F weather)! One night I accidentally melted a plastic lid on a burner cover and when I picked it up melted plastic poured onto my palm!! I barely remembered it and went back to bed.  Next morning, I found I had huge 2nd degree burns on my hand!! Most painful thing ever!!  That was the last Ambien I took!! Finally I was able to handle Welbutrin and have been on it for years. I took Xanax way back then too for a while and don't remember any dream issues then, I may see if I can switch to Valium.

Egads!  I wouldn't want the side effects of that surgery either!!  Sorry you have to deal with the reflux...

Wow, the Contact sounds like the way to go!! Will be watching for your updates.

Zills, sorry about the not sleeping.  Have you ever tried Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time Tea?  It is very soothing and calming.  It has cammomile and mint and maybe something else in it. (Can't get up to check as the cat has just curled up in my lap in the recliner. He loves it!)  I use it often when I get an upset tummy and in the evening before bed.  My kids liked it when they were little for upset tummies too.

Too cute about the phone.  I bet the boy will enjoy it alot more than the baby would have!

Oh dear, I've written a novel, sorry.

Gosh, I am sorry you're starting to get nervous about the surgery. I guess there isn't anything to say to prevent that, we all felt that fear. I do know though, that you will be back afterward, telling us that it was nothing like what you expected:) I mean that to be helpful!LOL

I too, am one of the small percentage of people who seem to get every side effect from a new drug. I just try to avoid everything as much as I can. We had a friend whse Husband was on a sleep med called Stillnox after having a heart attack. He was discovered in his car, wearing just underpants, rolled in a ditch, with no memory of going out. That's so scary.

That is a terrible story about your hands.

I left the Contact on right till I went to bed. The only slightly annoying part was the scrubbing with a brush and rinsing before putting it in its cradle. I usually just do a quick rinse with  my usual one.  I shouldn't complain, it is a small inconvenience.

It was quiet here yesterday, I wonder what everyone is up to.  M x

Hey Zills, Pink Ladies went well. They are such a lovely group of women. My friend Val made jam drops. We just chatted away this month about all sorts of things. We had a new member who has BC in her Omentum, never had it in the Breast, or at least was never found there. We were blown away when she said she had been given a terrible prognosis of a few months. That was in 2002!

I am glad someone recommends Merrell shoes, I just love them. I have two pairs that I alternate for walking.

Glad you have found an alternative med. I hope you can get used to it, and it really helps.

You're right, green tea does have caffeine.

Too cute, the boy doing as Daddy does!

I hope you have had a bit of a rest, and the upset stomach has diminished...chat later..M x

GrammaB. I have no issues on Xanax but everyone is different. I remember the nerves well. Yes I've tried sleepy time but not for my stomach. Will have to get it out.

The Jin shin move for nerves is to hold either thumb with your four fingers of opposite hand for at least 5 minutes. You can work your way down the other fingers. I find it soothing most nights but can remember reading these blogs until 2 am.

Dancing helps me but not conducive in the middle of the night! If I can get my phone to work (operator error!) I'll send videos of the kids dancing. She squats down and bobs her bottom. Don't ask! I don't know. He has his own moves.

I used to wash floors on my hands and knees when i was stressed but no more.

Just know you aren't alone. You physically have the cat and we will all be in your pocket. It's doable. It sounds like you have survived much worse. Just concentrate on all the good things you've done or watch silly cat videos on you tube! My boy loves them.

Bobo might have some suggestions. She was just in your shoes. Don't know if knitting knockers would help:)

First off, let me say.. I highly recommend Australia.  I fell in love with the country.  Everybody is so friendly and happy.  My only complaint is the crappy coffee and the long flight.

lol Herman Munster meets Audrey Hepburn.. I am proud of you for choosing 4 to 5 pairs instead of loading up a truck and backing it up to his office!  The patients waiting had to be wondering what the hell you two were howling over

I've never tried this because I can't even get by the smell of it, but a tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar in room temperature water is good for an upset stomach.  Papaya is also good for upset stomach. I have a cast iron stomach, so I haven't tried any of these.  I also read when we were talking about catnip, that catnip is great for upset stomachs AND helps with sleeping.  Here's a link about different herbal teas.

    http://www.myindigestionremedies.com/herbal-teas-that-soothe-an-upset-stomach

GrammaB, I take mine off a couple of times a day... and they are sturdy enough for repeated on and off in my opnion.  My biggest concern is the tarnishing.   I have had some of them since end of May.. the gold does not hold up well at all.. they become tarnished no matter what you do.  The silver see to hold up much better.  They say to scrub them with Dawn dishwashing liquid and a soft toothbrush, which I do every other week. Just make sure to dry them immediately.

    Posting.

I thought Green Tea was caffeine free.  I've heard of Sleepy Time for sleeping, but not for upset stomachs, that is very interesting.  Pure ginger is supposed to be good for the stomach isn't it?

GrammaB, those are some scary side effects.. sometimes I wonder if the damn drugs don't make us worse off than the original ailment.

Tell us more about the habitat for humanity.  Bangkok is on my list of places I'd love to go to. My next is a tie between Greeze & New Zealand.

Loving Granwe's post.. hope you get your test results soon and that the Doubtfires are still safe from the grill.

Speaking of results.. Zills when do we get results of your scan??

Hi Spookiesmom, I've seen you here and there on the forums.. good to run into you again, it sounds like you are doing great!

I've never met anybody that wasn't familiar with skunk lol.  To me it has a musky element..  but a lot of people say it smells like burnt rubber and in fact I googled it and the number 1 answer is burnt rubber/onions.  With the overall consensus being, if you microwaved onions in a rubber glove, you'd have something like a skunk smell.  I had a cat once that was sprayed and my eyes watered he stunk so bad.

NDgirl is right, they are susceptible to rabies, but I like them because they take care of insects and grubs.. in fact my skunk visitor is forever making holes in my yard. Plus they are cute. lol

I thought MT had many many many months of snow.. is that incorrect?

We have the cool front too and from what I understand the beginning of next week is going to be unseasonably cool.

Hi Zills, you just reminded me of my ex, with your scrubbing on your hands and knees for stress. I could always be assured of super spotless floors 4 times a year. The night before the Radio Ratings figures came out, he'd scrub all the floors to get rid of the nervous energy! I never complained!

Great advice for gB, we'll all be there!

I'd love to see the baby dance. We used to call Bec the "Hit Barometer". Our house mate, when she was first born to about 18 months, was a TV producer and he brought home all the new releases to choose the music for his rock show. He would put them on the turntable, and if Bec danced to it, he would usually put it on the show. LOL

ldesim! Couldn't agree more about the long flight, but you may be surprised at the improvement in the coffee since you were here. Australians have embraced the "Coffee Machine" and have now become almost as boring about coffee as they can be about wine:)

I have to admit, I just don't get why my friends are payng out thousands of dollars for a machine that essentially just boils and forces water through coffee. I know I am no coffee expert, I don't even drink the usual coffee, it makes me jitter, but I can drink copious amounts of tea and eat chocolate till the  cows come home with not a single shake. I love coffee flavoured stuff, and even iced coffee which doesn't make me jitter????

Ooooooh I love Bangkok, I went once with a girlfriend of mine when we worked for United. We stayed in a very old, but insanely beautiful Hotel that felt it was caught in a time warp. The city had encroached on it to the point where it had a big on-ramp right in front of the restaraunt. One night we were sitting by the window having dinner with the traffic flying past. I looked up and there on this main road was an elephant. It was all done up in the paint and mirrored finery with a little boy in a turban sitting on its neck, it just ambled past, with cars whizzing past it. My girlfriend and I just looked at each other, and back at the elephant. It was so weird!

Shopping, shopping everywhere! Amazing Temples, and fantastic food....great resorts in the jungle!

I am trying to understand the smell of the Skunk, and am wondering if it may be a bit like the Doubtfires, if they did catch alight!

You are having a cool snap, and we just had the warmest July on record!

I have to go and make some lunch...will check back later M x

Well Ariom, we are "sisters" in more than one way! That is why I try not to take any more meds than absolutely necessary.

I did go to the website and look at the Contact, it looks interesting.  Long time before I'll be needing anything like that though.

Zills, Most of the time I'm fine, but every once in a while when I'm quite and not doing something, it kind of hits me. I think also I am reading too many of the other threads here and some of the things are sort of scaring me.  I need to stop doing that!  I am confident everything will go well & I will be fine, but it still is a big deal!!

Thanks for the Jin shin move, I'll try that!

I am going to wear the Jacki home, he11, I may even wear it to the hospital, there are plenty of pockets for everyone. Besides who is going to be looking at me at 6:30AM??

Idesim, thanks for the info on the bracelet.  Mine is silver, and any others would be silver too.

I sure had some scary se, some of which were definitely worse than what they were trying to fix!

You nailed the skunk smell!  Burning rubber is it!  Years ago one let loose under the house.  I thought there was an electrical fire or something it smelled so much like something bad burning.

It depends on where in MT you are, higher elevations have a lot more snow than the valley floors.  But talk cold temps and yeah, we have a lot of them in the winter!  We can have the first freeze as early as mid August and easily have snow in June.  Coldest time seems to be end of December to mid January. I've seen it -15°F on my outside thermometer, but that doesn't measure the wind factor. I am in what is considered the "Banana Belt" of MT, our temps are a bit milder.  I would rather have snow than 90°F temps any day!!

I've always heard the cure for skunk odor is tomato juice. We were camping at Big Bend National Park in Texas and our dog started to chase a skunk that was inspecting our garbage can. We screamed for her to stop and she DID (usually never obeyed anything we said). We were driving an old VW bus and I had a visual of us driving with the dog in a rental trailer after we had bathed her with tiny little cans of tomato juice (the size they have on airplanes).

Idesim, I wanted to get that post sent before I lost it like I did a long one the other day.

About 2 years after my husband passed I was really longing to get away, have a change of scenery.  I wanted to travel again, but didn't want to go somewhere I had been with DH.  I was looking around online and came across the Habitat for Humanity site.  The coming March there was the Jimmy Carter Project build in the Philippines.  You pay your own way and housing (3 strangers to a room) they supplied food.  As an enticement, they made packages to visit other places available at really good prices.  That sold me!!  There were 4 offerings: Singapore, Taiwan, Bangkok and Myanamar (but there were travel warnings out about it so I skipped that one.) Three out of 4 wasn't bad.  I figured sheesh, since I came all this way, I should see as much as I could.  I visited those 3 cities all on my own.  My DH would never in a million years have gone to any of these places.

The build was in various locations all over the Philippines, I was assigned to General Santos City.  It was at the very southern tip if the southermost island in the chain, Mindanao.  I didn't realize at the time things were very volitile with the Muslins just north of the city. This was 1999, I believe at that time some tourists or something had recently been kidnapped.  Every where we traveled we were accompanied by armed guards.  Seriously armed gaurds!!  And when Jimmy Carter and his wife came to our site, there were SERIOUSLY armed guards and Secret Service!!!

The build site was surrounded by cyclone fencing with guards at the gate.  There were thousands of volunteers from all over the world it was an amazing experience!  Our group built about 200 houses in 7 days.  5 or 6 of us volunteers were assigned to each house, the family that the home was for worked too (sweat equity they called it) and professionals floating around giving insructions.  The house I helped build was for a famliy of 5, mom, dad, 2 kids and grandma.  It was a square cinder block structure, 2 bedrooms, kitchen/living space and a tiny toilet with shower in it too. It was really hard work and soooo hot!!  But so rewarding!

I will never forget the look on the mom's face one day when the walls were up.  She was sitting on top of the wall and looked around at all of us from all over the world, here, building her a new home, and she was just awestruck and humbled.

It was really heartbreaking to see the community just down the road from our build, hundreds of cardboard "houses" as far as the eye could see crowded together near the beach.

Wren, yes, I too have heard that is supposed to work.  Never had occasion to try.  When they come around here which is several times a week, I turn on all the outside lights.  I heard that may make them go away.....not always true. So I light several incense sticks and drown out their "aroma"...maybe as the scent goes out the windows and doors (which I always have open) that it is what sends them on their way.

grammaB What an amazing thing you did. I can imagine how great you all felt when the job was done and the house was handed over to the family.

I can understand you not wanting to go back to places you'd been with your husband, but travel is a wonderful thing to do, isn't it. I used to travel alone quite a lot. Not for any great length of time, just at the end of my roster when I got 5 days off, and I could add some leave days. If no one else was off, I'd do it alone, it was too tempting with those negligible prices.

Another thing we'd do was to go to a place where one of us was doing training, and use the room that the company had paid for. That was always so funny, we'd sometimes have 4 in a king size bed, just to avoid accomodation costs! LOL Another fun thing was to meet up in Vegas after meetings or training we'd been sent on. Always great fun.

Colin and I have done quite a bit of travel, both for business, and for Colin to compete in the Worlds sailing comps. I really enjoy it, but it is hard being the only carer. An RA flare can really make it tough.  That's why I prefer to go on cruises, unpack once, and no stress of trying to organise getting the wheelchair at each port. Just a small amount of damage can cause so much trouble. Unfortunately, airline staff aren't trained well enough in the disability area, and how to treat what is essentially someone's "legs".

I saw the Tomato Juice bath, on a documentary about living in the wilderness, and they had Skunks.

ldesim, I use Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar, all the time, but although I have tried it in water for the reflux, I really didn't think it did much, and the smell was just horrid.

I meant to say that the Podiatrist gave me a form to have filled in at the Doctor, and I can have 5 free sessions a year with him. I was a bit puzzled, I won't be doing the "appropriate shoe" thing, and not one of my pairs of shoes were able to be modified, so what will we do? It isn't like I need him to do anything else, maybe he just wants to "take the piss, and have a laugh!"

Still quiet here, I wonder if Bobo has made it through the week with all that work, and the children too.

Gramwe, how did all that yard work go? I hope you haven't overdone it.

    Dinner time...chat later...M x

Now I'm the one up early. I don't hear anything from the baby. Sometimes it's scary but let sleeping dogs and babies lie. She wakes up if you open the door.

The boy put his mattress on the train table. Still didn't keep him from hopping beds in the middle of the night. Actually fell asleep before 9 and wearing pjs! He normally just wears underwear. Those angry bird pjs are magical.

Big sister supposed to stop by today. I haven't seem her since April. Hope it will be nice and no drama. She leaves for Africa this week as part of a vet team. Elephants maybe?

Have been invited to bring kids over to neighbors to play. DH actually going. Even said he'd help clean today before my sister arrives. Laundry (his), wash sippy cups, and clear the kitchen table! Would love to get floors cleaned but know that won't happen.

Need to go eat. Acid rearing its ugly head. Have a good one! Try to have fun. Maybe you were the lucky one that got chores done yesterday and can play today!

hiya Zills, oh yeah, let sleeping babies sleep!

I have had a very slob around day, today. Took Dex out for a walk this morning and did a few chores, but have spent most of the day on the couch, even snoozed a bit.

Great that you've got some help to get your stuff done, don't stress about the floor. I know it's hard, but not the most important thing. Have a great day, hope your visit with your sister is a good one.

Hope the children have fun, they'll sleep tonight after a play date!

    Take care...M x

She slept until almost 7. So did the boy. DH had to treat a horse at 7. When he came back, I was ready for a nap. He even washed dishes.

Kids had fun playing at neighbors. I'm ready for another nap. DH had to work so just watching Cinderella until he gets home. Baby doesn't watch tv but is occupied with a raisin box. The boy is quiet:)

Going to have leftovers and fresh corn.

Ariom, what fun that must have been!! Good memories!  You would think by now that airplanes would have a couple removeable seats in the very front with some sort of bolt down system for wheelchair bound flyers.  When I flew to CA in June to visit family, there was a gentleman in the front row that had to be removed from his chair to sit in the seat.  He looked all kinds of uncomfortable the whole flight! Sad.

I also use Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, for cooking and salad dressings.  Another I use it Coconut Secret Raw Coconut Vinegar.

Zills, hope you have a nice visit with your sister.  With young kids around, the floors are almost impossible to keep clean, don't worry about them.  And hopefully the kids will be so tired out from their play date they will sleep in again tomorrow!

Have a good rest of the day/evening all!!

Morning ladies, beautiful sunny day here today. Lots of Pelicans and a few boats on the water this morning.

I had a really lazy weekend, and nothing planned for today.

Sounds like your weekend was ok Zills, quiet kids, is always nice! Hope you get a good rest.

gB, yep, so much fun, my favourite job, ever.

I really don't know what the answer is for wheelchairs in the air. They don't do the bolt down  chair thing because the safety stuff is all to do with the seats and the seatbelts being used correctly. They do have provision for a stretcher to be bolted in for an evac home situation. I have seen that used a few times.

When we have flown in First Class or Business, it is easy for Colin, but the economy seats are the worst. I have been thoroughly spoiled and act like a child if I have to fly any long haul in economy. Hence my love of going by ship!

I have never heard of Coconut Vinegar, I will look that up!

    Have a great rest...chat later...M x

I used to be a school bus driver. Once in a while I would have a lift bus. It had tracks and straps and hooks on the floor to secure the chairs. Then a regular shoulder and lap belt was put over the kids. They were secure!

But airlines wouldn't do that because it would cut the amount of available seats, and that's $$$$$ for them. So the disabled traveler has to endure. No fair!!!

End of rant, and I'm not disabled.

Our city buses have fold up seats and tie downs for wheelchairs. They also have a lift which a wheelchair can ride onto and it lifts them up to the floor of the bus. It's also used by people with walkers. They even have lessons on empty buses on request.

Hi Spookiesmom, they use that same securing system here for buses and in our wheelchair taxis, and it works really well, but the Airlines have a whole different slant on safety, compared to motor vehicles.

I sat in on many meetings trying to change and update our handling of disabled passengers when I worked for United Airlines, but alas, not much was gained.

I am sure you're right that $$$$$ came into it, doesn't it always:) but mostly, it was to do with not having anything, like a wheelchair, that could change the safety aspect of how the internal cabin was laid out, and how it would be evacuated in an emergency. That is their bottom line.
