Hi ladies~
Finished rads on Wednesday. My girl is healing well!:). Never experienced any fatigue. Dr said I look great. Need to see MO soon to start HT. Not looking forward to a second menopause...UGH!
I think the 8th is good for me also. This week-end went crazy on me. Watching step-daughters' needy dog and he's already driving me nuts:).I hope you all have a wonderful week-end!

YAY Terri!! That is awesome! Congratulations!
Will the pooch go after a Kong? Some dogs don't but others will spend hours getting all the peanut butter essence out of them long after the actual pb is gone. May want to give it a try if you need a break. Good luck
OK ladies- if the 8th works for most of us, we just have to decide where. Throw some ideas out when you confirm if it works for you or not.

We have a kids triathlon on the 8th but I can get the my kids to pitch in so I can have the day off. I'm game for whatever works for everyone.
Terri - Congrats on the completion of radiation! And you did it with such grace and class I've been doing HT since November. So far, so good. No menopause side effects or joint stiffness. But I've read stories....
Jeni - Love the henna! Is this an old pic? I know you said you have a friend that does Henna.
Can't wait to meet the rest of you ladies!!
I am told the Mural is up at Applebee's Georgetown. Haven't seen it yet. Don't know if all the pics are ours or if they used racing pics from a variety of sources. We will soon find out. I'll let you know and we can meet up there one day.

I'm having surgery #5 either June 6th or 13th. They scheduled me while I was on vacation in Florida for the past 12 days, so I'll find out tomorrow. Hopefully I can join you on the 8th. Where is half way for everyone? I'm on the north side of San Antonio near I-35.

Cindy -
I love your posts! Can't wait to see you again. And I agree - Jen does a GREAT job keeping us together.

Cindy- hope that your renovations are going well and your LE is behaving.
My LE is just not cooperating. My pump has been ordered. boooo. I think there may be some other thing happening too. Gonna try to get into see my ONC sooner than later.
V- If you get a photo of your photos (LOL) please post it here.
Sandra- I haven't been to the Grist Mill in forever. Gruene used to be this sleepy little town that we would spend our weekends at- tubing and shopping. Not so anymore!! last time I went it was PACKED! I will see if there is any kind of event happening that weekend that may make it even crazier.
If everyone that wants to go on 6/8 will PM me their food allergies/requirements so I can contact whatever place we choose to make sure we can all eat something... by 5/25, that would be fantastic. I know those of us on tamoxifen cannot have soy, and I am a vegetarian as well (what kind of cruel universe is this!?) But I know a lot of other meds have food interactions, so just let me know.
<<hugs>>

Jwoo- when you call the Gristmill, ask what time they open. It would be good for everyone to meet up about 30 min prior to it opening. But I think y'all are talking about a Subdsy afternoon meet up? It shouldn't be too bad. It's a big restaurant so even if you have to wait it shouldn't be too long. Maybe tell them you have a big party coming or a head count if you have one.
I may try to come too. I'd love to get to meet you ladies. :0)

I'm having to drive to south Austin for rads. Not too bad. But I'm afraid it will get old after a few weeks. But I love the doctor and his staff is amazing so it's really worth the drive. I've had 3 treatments so far.

I saw my MO on Wednesday....funny thing is, instead of driving on Mo-Pac to get to her office, I took IH-35 and even passed where I would've exited, heading towards my rads appt location!!! I made it on time anyway.
MO put me on Tamoxifen. Took my first dose today. Hmmm. Decided against Armidex for now bc of the effects it has on joints and bones, since I have Osteoporosis already and arthritic pain. Will have my follow up in 3 months at which time she will do another Vit D test. Last one, my level was 17! I just looked at my Vit D/Calcium bottle again...has soy in it. Maybe I should switch to another brand. Anyone have any recommendations? Still 2 lbs over pre-chemo weight, but not complaining. I hope I don't gain it back.
Gospel Brunch is at Gruene Hall the 8th, but tickets are sold out. I have always wanted to go to that. Going to Bastrop next Thursday (with my friend that took me to chemo appts) to celebrate end of TX and spend the night at the Lake Cabins, shop, do lunch, drink some wine and chill! Can't wait!!!
Holli, your rads will go by quickly. The drive does get old, but was more of an inconvenience to me than anything. Of course, I don't have little ones at home. I hope your rads aren't too hard on you.
Jen, I hope your LE settles down for you. I am going to try to make it on the 8th, but will know more as it gets closer. No food preferences, allergies, etc here.
Have a wonderful week-end, ladies!

Spending a relaxing weekend at Canyon of the Eagles with hubby as a late 24th anniversary celebration. It is so beautiful here. We've been hiking and taking lots of pictures for stock photos. The scenery is beautiful, the food is amazing, and the cabins comfy/cozy! This would be a nice little weekend getaway for anyone!

Vbishop- I have always wanted to go there!! Especially when the river cruise goes out for eagle sightings. They are supposed to have an observatory there too??? If you are into caves, I think the Longhorn Cavern is in that vicinity. Y'all have a blast !! What fun!!

Wouldn't it be great to make it a girls weekend some day? The lake is wayyyyy down and I am told many of the river cruises aren't running right now. But the trails are amazing. Storms blew in last night and this morning. More expected late this afternoon. Fine by me! Love storms, love hearing the rain on the tin roof, love watching the lightning and rocking with the thunder, all while curled up on the window seat and reading. Plus, the chef here is amazing. The food is pricey, but worth every penny. Just a thought ladies! Maybe in a year or so....get everyone past the chemo and rads, then off to Canyon of the Eagles to celebrate!!

Back from Canyon of the Eagles. Of course we hiked and took lots of pictures. I'm obsessed these days with the bends in the trails. Here are a couple of my favs from this weekend. Hope you like them.0 -

Ok ladies!
So far, I have not heard back from anyone but the Gristmill http://gristmillrestaurant.com , and they use soy oil to cook everything in. I know most places do. That being said, I have spoken with my oncologist, and she said not to kill myself trying to avoid it. The occasional soy product is not going to completely negate the benefits of tamoxifen or other meds, but daily tofu or soymilk will.
This was the Gristmill's email:
Thanks for your interest in the Gristmill. We do use soy oil in our fryers as well as on our cook tops. So, anyone with any allergies or intolerances will need to make sure they start by telling the server that way they can get with the manager to ensure there is no cross contamination. The Gruene beans and fresh veggies are cooked in butter, bacon and diced tomatoes with a little cheese on top. The broccoli is steamed and then topped with butter right before serving so can be ordered with no butter.
The items that will be completely soy free are:
Texas garden salad
Broccoli – no butter
I know that the Buttermilk Cafe focuses on quality and whole ingredients, but have not been able to get in touch with anyone there yet (no email and no one is picking up the phone after hours and no voice mail, which is odd.) I've eaten there a couple of times and have been very happy. http://www.thebuttermilkcafe.com/index.html
still waiting to hear from a few others.

Look them over and let me know what your thoughts are.

Cindy- that sounds fun! I love Tyler State Park.
Okay ladies! I did not hear back from any other place that I emailed, and have not had much time to call around. I've been in training for the past week and it kept me from getting anything done. So- let's just go by menu! Take a look at each one, and put your vote here if you want to go Sunday. Also, let's coordinate who wants to carpool and all that.
also- super cute video: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/84135669/
i am the same way in the morning!
