Andrea and DP….vitamix, after I got over the sticker shock! I got mine last year and it is the BOMB! Love love it! Just imagine harnessing the power of a jet engine, thats a vitamix. You can put anything in it and in 45 seconds it is blasted to smithereens, apples, ice, you name it. No bits left. I make smoothies in mine, no recipe needed just put in whatever I have on hand or what is in season……like banana, blueberries, ice and small amount of water. Because it is so powerful, if you leave it go for 4 or 5 minutes it will heat up soup to boiling. Made in USA. And cleaning is easy peasy….just fill it half way up with water, add couple drops of dish soap, turn on for 45 seconds and it cleans itself.  Tonight I used it to make chocolate ice cream from a cashew base (if anyone wants recipe let me know), then into my ice cream maker or can probably just freeze. There are videos on you tube. I do recommend getting the bigger container even though it doesn't fit under most upper cabinets. My model is 5200. They have a smaller one that fits under  cabinets but I am glad I got the larger one. Green kale drinks. salsa. I think it is life changing. Worth every penny. Let us know if you guys get one!

    Veggie pizza.

Sorry for my absence, I was on the other thread and, well all this talk about fat and flab and food, made me so hungry I had to eat!  Nothing in the house so DH had to go out and get us something for dinner.  Then he put on True Blood, which can really kill an appetite, so I quickly scarfed down the food.  Now, had I known we were going to move on to pizza I might have had a different food choice!  Lol. Now, where was I? Oh, yes doggie porn, I mean pics.  Yes, she does have quite a tongue!  Even my Great Danes didn't have that long a tongue in proportion to their bodies!  Never seen anything like it!  Never gave them the jar of peanut butter.  They probably would have enjoyed that.  DD's dog eats anything and everything except peas.  I would post a pic of Ryan, but DD said she doesn't want her dogs photos on the internet.  Seriously?  Does she think some dog napper is going to see her pic and come steal her?  I do think the GP's are lovely.  I am partial to the big dogs.  Humm....did I just say that out loud?

As for the vitamix- doubt I will ever have one.  I don't eat that well and DH would have another heart attack if I spent that much for what he would consider is a blender.  Besides my ninja makes wonderful piña coladas!

I really do need to get back into some kind of physical exercise.  We only have a Y here and yoga in a smelly YMCA doesn't thrill me. Forget working out there....gross!  Waiting for the weather to cool down so I can walk further than the mailbox.  And waiting...and waiting!

no posting pics of dog??? Hmmmmmm. But we want to see Ryan!  *pouts*

I've always been partial to big dogs too. And they have all loved PB!!  I find it amusing when people tell me: "oh my dog won't eat that",, like a certain dog treat.  And I'm like:  Ava will. Ava eats everything.  Weird how I've never had such picky dogs.  Ava spit out a mushroom,, but then afterwards I found out that mushrooms were bad for them. She eats any veggie or fruit. LOVES bananas. They are dog candy to her. And I must give her pieces from my apple.

Home exercise equipment?  get a stationary bike or treadmill?  just a thought?

Keep those pina coladas coming!!  Glad your blender works well for those.

Hi all! I had a gourmet pizza for dinner last night at the birthday. I don't eat dairy, so no cheese and lots of olives, mushrooms, anchovies ham, onions and chorizo with thin crust...yum!

Had to laugh at the dogs with the peanut butter jars, Dex loves the container that the roasted garlic humous comes in, he gently takes it in his mouth then sits with it between his paws and liks it out. We call him a tongue with a dog attached for the same reason that Ava could be called that! He can lick your face from 6 inches away!!!!!

Helenna, you can make the ice cream in the Vitamix too, in 90 seconds. It is 2 parts frozen to 1 part liquid. I do frozen banana, 4 types of berries and coconut yogurt. You can get thousands of Vitamix recipes on the internet and YouTube. I haven't used my ice cream machine since I bought the Vitamix. I'll take the recipe for chocolate ice cream, please.

Is there a smaller jug? Isn't that the one for making flour? I got both when I bought my 5200, but the instructions say not to use the small one for liquids, it has a different blade to the big one. I watch the shows on or shopping channel when they have the Vitamix guy on. I always learn something new about the machine, especially how to control the speed for different things. I absolutely love mine too. Bobo, was the one that got me hooked. The guy always goes on about how it can power a boat, I keep telling Colin we should have used the Vitamix instead of installing an electric motor on Mystique!

The other thing I do is, whatever I am making, I throw in a couple of Kale leaves, they totally disappear in the super blending and you get the extra nutrition of a super food, even if it is ice cream! The Vitamix guy calls it "health by stealth", for children, but I use it on Colin, who isn't a great veg fan. I was so very skeptical about this machine before I really took a real interest in it, but it really isn't remotely like any blender, I have ever seen before. The price is a shock to the system, but these machines are also used in most of the top restaurants and juice bars. The 7 year warranty is excellent too.

I have always been a huge fan of soups, but I haven't done a single one the old way, since I got the machine

Sgc, are you a True Blood fan? We watched every episode as it was aired in the US, Monday afternoons, couldn't come fast enough for us. If we were out or busy it recorded and we watched it the same day. I can't believe it is over. I loved that series, we both did and don't get me started on Dexter, i miss it so much!

I am trying to talk myself into going on a big walk today with Dex, we haven't been walking this week because there was too much going on. My Rheumatoid feet are really painful, so it isn't something I feel like doing, but I have to get some weight off, or else the feet will hurt more from the extra weight, it's shitful really, whinging about this nonsense. I'm envious of the vitamix but it's definitely not in the budget. I would love to be able to make soup in minutes.

My favorite pizza is roasted red peppers, garlic, goat cheese and eggplant. Yum. We don't eat red meat, so none of that. Chicken on pizza just seems wrong to me.

We had dinner at our favorite Mexican truck. It has 3 rickety picnic tables with a canvas canopy over them. Really good food.

I love Mexican food, and would love to eat with you at your rickety table at the truck! Take a look at the Aldi version of the Vitamix some time. Bec has one and it is almost as good, but way cheaper. It makes hot soup too.

Bec is looking at moving because there is a tenant causing trouble at the apartment block where she lives. We just saw another apartment just up the road from her that would be ideal, so she will apply  for it. Oh the joy of renting. She has been at her current address for 7 years and the managing agents are allowing another new tenant, less than a year, to take over the common ground, moving the trash cans to another location, to plant out the area where the trash cans have always been with plants that won't survive the salt environment. She has also brought her own outdoor tables chairs, bar-b-que and the worst is the religious statues that have appeared in the garden and the 5 foot Mother Mary which looks like it has been robbed from a cemetery, which blocks the path to the other apartments.  At first, I thought it was funny, but it is really very unfair and poor Bec is just over it.

Glennie, the only food Dex turns his nose up at is Prawns! He will eat everything if you give it to him, but he has a delicate stomach since his big surgery, so he may just throw it up again.

The only home gym thing I have ever really used is my treadmill. Everything else has become a clotheshorse and the only exercise I got from them, was dusting them! My treadmill is out in the new "studio" waiting to be cleaned properly, after its 2 year stint in the garage. I had lost the key for it and only recently found it, so now that it is in a spot where I can just throw open the barn doors and I can walk whenever i like.

I love cheesy pizza with just bell peppers on it. Hated them growing up but love them now. Yum. Qvc did a month long presentation on the vitamix last year and i was totally sold- just hesitant on the $500 price tag. The fair had a slightly cheaper package with different components but I never made it back to buy. I'm caught up in the simplicity factor because I don't handle complicated cooking well. I suppose I have more time for that stuff now. My new goals are to focus on myself and being as healthy as I can - minus the Mac and cheese, ahem. I'll throw some kale on top. Lol.

Poor bec. She needs to get out I there. Then let the landlords be sorry.

Did anyone catch the stand up to cancer special tonight?  It was kind of nice to see something not focused on bc. I told bf that from the way they talked, they already had a cure. I went and signed up for the clinical trial finder. Their research does sound cutting edge and makes me wonder why we don't hear more about it. 100% of the proceeds tonight go to research, so that was refreshing.

I did watch it (my first time). Did you notice the blurb about Canada? They even mentioned the CIBC (Hosts the Run for the Cure) . Two of my older daughters are starting a team (hense my Mammo Mia query).

So much has been discovered recently about cancer. I am especially hopeful about the Imunology treatment where the body attacks the cancer cells. Just wish it would move along faster and be available to more people.

I thought the show was two hours long but it ended here in an hour. I went to the bathroom and when I returned Shark Tank was on!!! I hope they raised a lot of money.

it was only for an hour with no commercials. Damn I missed shark tank. I think they sent off my samples for the genome testing back in April if I remember correctly. She said it was for just in case. I am anxious to hear about the results. The Monday I saw the mo in the hospital was my first scheduled appt with her since my last scan results which were NED - so we have never gotten to talk about about any of it. I have my appt with her next Wednesday when I should be through with wbr. Anxious to get chemo started. I meant to call today to ask about getting a new port. Don't want any delays.

I somehow completely screwed up sleeping last night. I think it's a total lost cause at this point. Maybe got a total of two hours. Could be long day. 5am and trying to trick myself with the sleepy time tea. No treatment today will be a nice break. Even though id rather just get finished and it only takes 5 minutes usually. Will be nice to not have to go anywhere. A friend is coming over to visit but that should be pretty low key. Weatherman says we may get a treat on Sunday of it only being 95. Bring on the winter please (we get no fall, which is my favorite) longing for boots and leggings.

Oh DP, you can have my boots and leggings and all my jackets and scarves, leather gloves and Ugg boots......I am so over, Winter!

I just bought 5 different color Amoena Camisoles on sale at Metromedical and from an Aussie seller on ebay. I am ready for warm weather.

I hope you get some answers from that appointment next week. Do they do chemo and rads at the same time? I don't think I have heard of that.

Do you have some snoozies during the day, or are you up all day? I hope you have a nice visit with your friend.

I am off to bed now, catch you tomorrow..M x

Wren:  chicken on pizza seems wrong to me also.  I love roasted red peppers,,, totally my fave topping. I have a lot of vegetarian friends, so when we go it's veggie all the way.  I get his homemade meatballs when I drop by for just a slice at lunchtime. Mexican food truck sounds great!  I love that show Food Truck Wars.  Wish we had food trucks around here.

M:  Funny, about the prawns. Rocco wouldn't eat them either. He would chew it a bit and then spit it out. He didn't like any fishy tasting stuff. Ava loves fish!! Her glucosamine is really fishy smelling and she loves it.  Did you get a walk with Dex today? What is up with that crazy tenant? And why are they letting her do it?  I hope Bec gets the new apartment,,, geeez,,, who wants to walk to their door around all that crap?

I missed Stand up to Cancer cuz as usual, I was working. I forget to check the TV Guide and see what's on so I can record it. I need to watch for Vitamix on QVC so I can decide if I really want to spend the $$ on one!! They sound so wonderful.  I'm ready for fall.  Like you, DP,, ours lasts about 2 weeks,, but it's glorious when it is here. My friend is going to NYC for a long weekend in Oct with her sister and I'm terribly jealous. But I'll be post-op and no way I can go. Maybe next year. I really do love the fall.

Football game here today.  Hoping it is not rained out AGAIN!!  And can't wait for Bobo to get home and report on Dad!

well I haven't crashed yet and I've had a pretty good morning. Couldn't go back to sleep so I decided I wanted out of this damn house for a while. And of course it was hungry hippo time. So we went early for breakfast at a cafe. Had a yummy omelet and hash browns. It was nice to sit and talk to bond. With our off kilter schedules, we don't often get to do that. Of course, now that I'm a lady of leisure, I will make a point to do so. Then perhaps most exciting, we went grocery shopping and I got to pick out my own stuff instead of sending a list. This was actually quite a feat because we went to the huge overwhelming Mexican grocery store, which I could barely ever handle getting through on a good day.  Got everything on my list and a few fun extras. There's always fun stuff there. It's just sooo much going on in one place. So I'm really quite proud of myself. Picked up some fresh salmon for lunch. $2.99/lb.

hope everyone is having a great day. Can't wait to hear from bobo too. And missing our zills. What's up on the farm?

Been looking at dogs/puppies. No luck. Kids aren't interested.

Circus last night. Hot and expensive. $12 sno cone!

Cow trying to calve. No one else on farm! DH home soon and I'm going out. Dinner and belly dancing.

Fav pizza. Thin with cheese and onions.

Call arms that wave back, bingo arms.

Have to go check on Tina the cow, grill some burgers (how wrong is that!) and fold clothes.

kids don't want a dog? Are you going to watch belly dancing or you are going belly dancing?  We will need some pics of that!

Love you cooking burgers and birthing a calf at the same time. Lol. I love cows. And I love cow jokes even more. Hehe.

The circus is like organized crime.

Circus is always a family Rip Off, $12.00 for a snow cone, some families would have to share one!

I am laughing at the irony of the Cow and the burger too, I hope that poor cow managed to have its calf.

Waiting for a Bobo update too! Kids don't want a dog, that's unusual. I am laughing at all the names for the flabby arms. I have a really close girlfriend who is in her late 70's, still goes to the gym, looks sensational, but her nemesis, is the rear upper arm. She is always trying out new exercises to try to tighten that up, so I am sorry gals, if she can't fix it, I think we are all doomed to have wavy, wobbly arms.

Zills, you used to talk about Belly Dancing when we first met on here, have you been going all along, or are you starting up again? If I remember right, your name here is the little cymbal finger thingies, isn't it?

DP, breakfast with James Bond, nice!! and then shopping, that's my kind of morning! I love salmon, I have it most days for lunch. We have foil packs with shredded Salmon with Chilli, it goes well in a sandwich or over a salad with aioli. Yumm!

Glennie, that's right, I find it extraordinary that this new tenant gets to take over and the old established ones just have to suck it up. What is it with people? Bec's lovely  elderly, next door neighbor who has been there for nearly 20 years, has just had surgery for mouth cancer and I think she will move to be closer to her son, she's not happy with these changes either. I tell you, that statue of Mary, really creeps me out, at the front door and the cherubs and benches in the garden are very kitsch. Poor Bec, she has enough challenges with dickheads at work, now she has them on her doorstep. Not fair!

I never put chicken on Pizza either and my other pet hate is the one called "Hawaiian" with the Pineapple yuck, I hate hot pineapple like that!

Beautiful day here, must take Dex for a walk. Colin is going to a meeting at the Yacht Club and possibly for a sail. Nice to know we are over the worst of the Winter.

Take it easy ladies...waving my wavy arm at you...M x

well the "cold" front came in and it's raining. A real treat except the humidity. Tomorrow may stay below 90. Didn't eat lunch today, amazing. So I am going to have the salmon for dinner with tiny stuffed bell peppers. Cooking now. It's been a long day. Our quaint little neighborhood has a garden exchange. Earlier in the week bond came home from walking the dogs with giant bags of jalepenos and deformed little bell peppers.  I just winged the stuffing. Not sure it's going to be very good. But at least I will hVe done something productive today.

Glad you get to warm up soon ariom, even though i would love to feel a good chilly wind right now.

I'm clearly letting on my obsession with Mac and cheese but we have a cheapo pizza buffet here called cicis that makes off the wall pizzas. They have a Mac and cheese one and I love it. Never go there though. Too many kids. They also started the whole barbecue chicken pizza thing too I think. It is ok. But my favorite there is taco pizza. Good thing I don't go there.

i don't like Hawaiian pizza either.  Pineapple and cheese,, yuck.

We have Cici's here too, but I've never been.  And another one like it called Stevie B's.  Buffet style with lots of variety. Popular with the kids,,, so I haven't been.

Bec's poor neighbor,,, but perhaps it's better for her to move closer to her son at this time. Stupid statue staring at her probably made her nuts,, it would me.  When is Bec going to look for new digs?

Glennie, she just spotted the apartment on the internet yesterday and contacted the agent. I guess she will follow through this week. I have everything crossed that she can stick it to the agent she is with now, long term tenants like her are hard to come by. The agent is just what I call "piss weak" won't stand up to this woman. I have no clue why some people can just getaway with this kind of stuff and the good tenants have to wear it. M x

No calf yet. Poor thing. Told cows take a long time.

DH just left to go pick up landlord. They are broke down about 3 hours away. Five Aussies and 2 adults. Going to be nice and cozy. Hope they don't have gas. His last trip the dog stunk them out.

No I haven't started belly dancing again. It's my old group and they were in my hometown. Unfortunately I had to leave before they started. See above about DH.

Going to do thriller at Halloween. 13th year for it. My first.

I have been using yes to carrots night cream. It kept me hydrated all thru chemo.

I was at JS last week but didn't take my phone. The mask I was talking about is on display in the lobby. I'll have to get a pix.

Guess I better nap. Probably should check on Tina in a few hours. Don't know how much help I'll be.

Kids would rather play with the kittens or the guinea pigs or the mud puddle. Guess it's going to be my dog.

Hi Zills, Laughing but I don't get what that means, 5 Aussies and 2 Adults???Is the term mutually exclusive? lol Hope they don't have gas? Who, the Aussies??? I am going to wet my pants, Colin wants to know what I am screeching about and I can't tell him without dissolving again. You never fail to crack me up Zills.

Tina? I am guessing that must be the cow?

"Yes to Carrots", I haven't tried it, but heard good things about the range.

Thriller, I love that... it will be good exercise just doing the moves! You must record and send link, I have to see that!

Sorry, no dog yet, but don't despair, the right one hasn't presented yet! M x

I'm guessing Zills means 5 Australian Shepherd dogs???  But I'm picturing M laughing so hard that she can't explain to Colin why,, and that makes me giggle.

I hope Tina's labor goes well.  Those long legs of a calf,,,, I used to watch "All Creatures Great and Small"  and watching calves being born, is rather amazing.

I mean to look for Yes to Carrots.  I want to try it.
