it's ok m it still has lots of info thank you! Wondering with all the fireman talk, did the blood pressure ever actually get checked?

Feeling stranglley clear headed this morning. Spent the night in my usual terror of trying to identify all the pressure feelings and other feelings. Took my morning steroid dose and haven't felt too bad yet. Hope it stays a good day.

    Have a good Saturday.

Hiya DP, good to see you feeling a bit better this morning. Sure wish you could sleep though, it must be exhausting. How are the boys doing?

In answer to the previous post you wrote, check out the posts you were writing and the PM's we were sending back in June. I am willing to bet these feelings only started  since you started on the high dose of this drug:) Big hugs to you!  Love M x

Hope it stays good for you DP.

Susan, there is a thread in stage IV forum at the moment about Effexor for hot flushes.  Not all the folk posting are stage IV, spookiesmom has posted about being on it.  Please excuse the talk about firemen ;)

M, thanks for the olive leaf info.  My kids have not taken supplements besides vitamin c, I have been wary of them due to allergies.  A few weeks ago when DD wa prescribed antibiotics (keflex) I checked with the doc to make sure there was no egg, and then I searched online before I gave it her.  Looked all clear, but when she took it, she broke out in hives, was scratching her head and neck, I gave some antihistamine, and she was ok, but I am scared of giving either anything.  There probably wasn't egg or peanut in it, but something set her off.

At DD's primary school the preps (first year of school, ages 5-6 years) have been taking turns to read the days weather report out over the p.a. System.  So, of course they had to read it out like pirates!  "Aarghh me hearties,  the weather today will be blustery!"

Glennie, those are big cups!  I used to drink southern comfort with raspberry.  Not sure I could drink it at all now.  Vodka with cranberry would be nice though.

Hi Dawny, no problem, I understand about kids and allergies!

I see we have some decent weather coming. It has been really cold and windy here, for the past few days. Daylight saving coming soon, I love that!

Dawny. She could just be allergic to keflex. Those are the same symptoms I had and I'm not allergic to eggs or nuts. That itching will drive you mad.

My sister said when she went cold turkey off Effexor (big dummy) that pineapple juice made her feel better. I read that fish oil helped with the withdrawals. Not the same as yours DP but surely there's something that will help. Take baby steps.

Are you drinking enough, watching your salt? Would a cold cloth in the middle of the night help? It always made me feel better during treatment. Lack of quality sleep makes everything worse.

    Cobwebs are Halloween decor!

Yesterday the boy had a blowout. All over the back of the toilet seat. Bless his heart he tried to clean it up. They tasted plants at school. Spinach, broccoli, peppers, asparagus, etc.  He loves broccoli. What a way to start the morning!

Last night BG pooped in her pull up. Somehow it got all over my leg. Thankfully I had pants on.

Yesterday am BG opened a bottle of rice. Musical instrument. Completely forgot about it (see above:). This morning she's up early and brings the bottle in our bed. Guess we now have rice everywhere. Literally.

Need a dog. Cats only bat it across the floor.

Dr Z to the rescue!  Rice is good luck, right Z?  Sorry about the double blowout.  I know how that is.  I will come upon a mess, or I will hear a glass shatter, and I think, There goes the next hour.

Are you still feeling clear and good DP?  Sending you big hugs.  What are you doing today?  I hope you will get some time to snuggle up, after your housewife duties, and watch a movie with Bond.  I love him so much, he is almost like a fireman.

Susan!  Of course we remember about your firemen.  We were slavering over your husband earlier, remember?  But you just laughed and said, He is not like that.

But he is!  **We love him**

Oh Zills, I forgot how time consuming all those little accidents are, when the kids are small. I am laughing at poop on your leg and peepee smell, in Bobos bed.

Today would have been Vi's 39th birthday. I just saw Bec has done a post on FB, calling him a shithead. I thought she may have mellowed by now.

Dawny: DD is probably allergic to Keflex.  It's a pretty common allergy.  Sucks though.  Hate allergies!!

Zills:  OMG, double blow-out! And rice everywhere!  Sorry to hear. And yes, cobwebs are Halloween decor. Can never start too early for that. Effexor has rough withdrawal,, can't believe she went cold turkey. Interesting about the pineapply juice and fish oil.

DP: no cold turkey on Decadron. Please taper off. Ask DR for help. ((hugs))

Susan:  Firemen are hot. I bet your men know that too. That's why they make TV shows and movies about firemen.

Bobo:  will we beat Alabama today?  Are the kids having Gator party?

    Hi M  !!

Harrumph, keflex allergy is common?  Why did the diktor prescribe it then, knowing all of the other allergies she has?  Geez.

Doesn't sound like Bec will mellow M.  She must miss him as much as you.  Hugs. Xx

Lots of poop and weeing going on.  Keep it to yourselves. ;)

Just finished this week's episode of The Biggest Loser.  I like seeing these people working on themselves,, not just physically but mentally too. It's a positive show for me.  Debating if I want to drive to the vet to get Ava's thyroid meds. Don't feel like going anywhere. It's not a rush,, I could do it next week,,  ** I dont' have to accomplish something everyday,, do I? **

edit:  just saw above posts *missed them again**  ((HUGS M)))   Sounds like Bec misses Vi too. It's sad.

DP - Nice to hear that things are better for you today! Hopefully this
is the turn-a-round (is that a word?) you've been looking for.   Has it cooled off there yet?  We are going to have an awesome 74 degree day today!  We had a shitty winter, a shitty summer...but fall has been really nice.  Hope it continues until.. oh March.  hah I can dream can't I?

Oh Sex and the City..one of my favorite shows ever.  I had never heard of it because I didn't have HBO at the time.  My good friend started taping the Soprano's for me, and she had Sex and the City and the Larry Sanders Show on there too...and I loved them all.   There was a moment in time when 2 of the storylines on the show were very similar to our own, so I guess we both felt like we were hip chicks from NY.. but of course, we weren't.  I still use Carrie's quote about squirrels:  "they are just rats in nice clothing!".

Z, You wouldn't want a dog eating raw rice. Then it gets wet and swells and then  you rush the dog to the vet, etc. Sympathy for all the clean-ups.

    (((((((Ariom)))))))

I'm going to check out the olive leaf.

Ariom, the anniversaries are always hard arent they? sorry for Bec too, big hugs to you both.

Sgc, yep remembered your firemen... how is your blood pressure?? ha! glad we can all joke. I wish I could sleep but not that many hours.. hope it gets better.

I take the olive leaf extract but one time I took it on empty tummy and wow that was a mistake! Ariom, is that normal reaction or just me. I really do think it helps tho. I will be more diligent to take it in the winter months. We have been like Prb, shitty winter, summer but nice fall.

DP, so hoping you are still feeling some better! Take it easy girl, any chance you can sneak away to the casino?? Hugs!

ndgirl, you're right the anniversaries are awful, it is always there. but yesterday and then next month is the 4th anniversary, of when he died, so close together and there is always the turmoil of why! Bec never let the anger go. I have decided, it was just his destiny and nothing I could have done would have changed it. Just such a terrible waste.

You must have taken the liquid Olive Leaf, that is just heartburn, in a bottle. I can't take it and of all the people I know, who take it regularly, like us, we all take the capsules of the freeze dried Olive Leaf. No adverse tummy reaction from those. I truly can't recommend this herb highly enough, even if you start to get the beginning of a scratchy throat or chest, take a few and it will stop it. Colin and I, take a maintenance dose of a capsule a day, with a couple of weeks off, a couple of times a year. I never thought anything would slow down the UTIs that Colin gets. They are a common affliction for people in wheelchairs, but he takes far less antibiotics now, than he ever has and he discovered that corn silk is a great help if he does get the odd UTI. Great anti viral, high in antioxidants and helps with cardiovascular health.

Thank you Dawny, Wrenn and Glennie, for the hugs. It's so weird, I miss him, but I want to slap him, at the same time, too!

PRB, Sex and the City is one of my all time fave shows, my goodness, what a shake up that was to the normal TV watching public, when it first came out. Iit was on a Tuesday night and everyone was instructed not to call me during that half hour.

DP, I hope  you're still feeling OK!

Dreary gray day, hope the sun comes out later...M x

checking in. Decent morning. Bad afternoon. I think I could feel real swelling in my temple during the last hour before I took the steroids. Just so tired. I layed in bed for a few hours maybe I slept 10 minutes.

I'm really worried about bond. He is either slipping into a deep depression or he has been drinking. I don't want to believe that. But he's not ok right now. And now I'm trying to piece together how long he hasn't been ok. It was the same last weekend but beyond that I don't know. I don't know what to do for him. We talked about it today and I asked him to go to a dr. He said he didn't drink but I wasn't convinced.   I can't can't can't handle that happening because of me.

Oh DP, I am sorry to hear that, I wondered how he was faring, with all that is happening with you. Does he have anyone to talk to? I don't know if he would be interested, but there is a husband and partner area here on BCO where men talk and vent about what is happening with their women.

I can't even imagine, how hard this must be, for both of you. I know men have that inherent need to fix things and this is a big wake up call for them, where it's out of their control. There's nothing easy about  this kind of process and people do what they think will make them feel better, to get through it. I hope he isn't drinking, but my heart goes out to you both.

Let's just see this treatment kick in, for you. (((((((hugs)))))) M x

DP. Glad to hear from you. Was getting worried. So sorry about bond. It would be great if he would talk to someone. It's a very hard road to be on. I find weekends to be very hard so I can only imagine how they feel, not being able to make it better. Wonder if we can get sailman to talk to ours. He seems to be coping well.

hi guys. I will suggest the husbands and caregiver area. Not sure he'd be into it but will try it. He doesn't have anyone to talk to. As he says I am his whole life and that's really been pretty true the last few years. I've asked our work friends to check in on him but he doesn't get real close to people. I was feeling good when I got up and told him we should get out of the house today but now I'm not feeling good. I cut down to one 4mg steroid today. Ive fretted over to take all at once one time or  spread it out by cutting in half. I did the 2 mg only cuz I was feeling good. But now my head is doing it's thing. But again, treatment or SE? Who knows. And here I am babbling again. :-)

Hi DP, why don't you let Bond have a look at the thread and see if it would be of interest to him to post. It may help if he had someone to talk to. Men don't tend to open up like we do though, do they?

I hope you manage to get out for a while today DP Hugs..M x

I am sending you all positive thoughts.  Oh, poor Bond.  I hope he could get on the husband thread.  And also, it would be nice for him to go to a therapist.  I second everything M says.  She is so wise.  Poor Bond must want to heal you whenever you feel badly.

Sending you both big kisses and hugs.  XOXOXO

Hi Ladies, I don't believe you can stop anyone from reading your posts. You can block them from PM'ing you, or you seeing their posts, but anyone can go on the forum and read everything.

The only way would be for DP to set up Bond's account and block herself from it, but that means he could then unblock at any time if he is aware of how it works.

Waving my bingo arms to you all! M x
