Nancy, that "bling" in the middle of the cross isn't painted, is it? Also, that cement chick or guy on the front of that bridge picture has a real identity crisis going on....is it male or female?

Hi ladies, loving all the photos. Still doing some tests today so hopefully I will feel better one of these days. I had a thrill today. I got a call from our newspaper. I had posted a pic of my adult swans with their five babies a few weeks ago when they published one of my pictures in the Aug 24 paper. They pick three weekly winners and then have a big winner of the month. My swan photo was the big winner of the month. I was thrilled. A bright spot in a dark time for me. I win a $50 gift card to a photo shop. I still consider myself a beginner with more head knowledge than shooting experience but it gave me a lot of motivation to get out there and shoot. Haven't felt like doing much of anything lately.

I saw the neatest show two different times this week on a PBS station. It was called Red Rock Serenade. I want to go to Sedona, AZ in the worst way to shoot the red rocks. Lisa where were your red rock photos taken. If you love music and you all must love photography if you get a chance to see this show it is well worth it.

Nancy C, your pics make me want to go to the city with my camera when I am feeling better. Glad you had such a good time and I am enjoying your pics.

That's awesome Nancy BW!! You need to go to Chicago lots of things to take pictures of. When your better. I have not started treatment yet just surgeries so I wanted to get things done before I started while I could.

Barbee the bling in the middle isn't painted Im not that good. Lol. I just started to paint wood crosses and canvas when I got diagnosed to try to relax and get my mind off of things. Its something I have always wanted to do so I thought go for it. Ill have to look at the bridge picture to see what your talking about.

Thanks Barbe. Nancy C, yes I need to get to the city. I had a couple of frightening experiences in Chicago. One being robbed in a crash and grab on the way to play a wedding (I used to be a professional clarinet player) They stole my purse with my clarinet reeds in it. That was interesting but my quintet pulled it off. I got lost trying to find my parking garage when the one I felt safe to go to was closed and under construction. I haven't been back since, not because I don't want to. I will have to make myself.

Lisa, Thanks for the red rock picture. Is that you and DH in front of the hummer. You make a darling couple. Gee if we could go back 12 years! I am absolutely fascinated with the red rocks. I have driven to Texas but have not been to the typical red rock states. I have been to Colorado but didn't see any red rocks.

I would love to explore by helicopter. I will have to look back and see who did that. That must have been amazing!

Do you have to do a lot of hiking to get any good shots where the red rocks are?

    Nancy, Congratulations on your win!!

That must have been so scary , the smash and grab. Oh, I do envy being able to play the clarinet. I have always loved the sax and had some basic musical knowledge so bought one a few years back. Could I get a nice sound out of it, no way. I fiddled with those reeds and the mouthpiece and my mouth LOL. One day I will take a lesson. never been very good with breath control. Its very pretty. I have a photo of it somewhere but can't find i

Lisa, I really do love those red rocks, someday....

Lisa those are really cool pictures of Sedona. That is one place on my list of places to go.

BW I am sorry you had such a horrible experience. Some people are just stupid and have to ruin things for others. That is cool that you can play an instrument.

Thanks Lizzysmom. I used to play the sax in jazz bands. Loved it. I play a little flute as well. Since I was a band director we had to know how to play all of the instruments.

Nancy C. Yes people are stupid and do ruin things for others. I just need to conquer my fear of the city and take my camera and maybe a can of mace. LOL  I would go in and listen to the free Grant Park concerts. I love the Chicago Symphony and have seen them and the opera. Since I was in music all my life many of my experiences were at conferences and wasn't really into photography then.

I just posted a bunch of pics and lost the whole thing. SCREAM I will try again.

Okay, we'll try this again. I was playing around with reflections. This is on my church campus. The church in the pic is not my church but one across the street from mine. I was actually waiting for the sunset. I'll show those on another day.

Was just rooting through and found this one. Its strange but that is a real yacht. Its in the  the Gaylord Palms hotel in Kissimmee Florida. Its got to be my favorite hotel with its 4 acre climate controlled live exhibits of Florida including real Alligators and turtles. This was in the Florida Keys section.   Its open to the public for the price of parking and there are some nice places to eat in there too!!

When I was in Chicago for my two week training, I got in on a Sunday and my assigned room-mate and I decided to go for a walk after dinner.... She was tall and blonde and I was pretty cute, too, in my 4-foot long black leather coat!! Anyway we walked so far over broken sidewalks and stuff and then kind of looked around and said "where the heck are we?". We tried to go into a 7Eleven but it was locked. We could see the guy inside through all the bars and we banged on the window. He let us in and was stunned to learn we had walked there. We asked for him to call us a cab and he said he wasn't sure that a cab would even come there!!!! We did finally get back safe to our hotel but found out the next morning where we were...... The host of the training stood up and explained where we could safely walk around Chicago but to make sure we NEVER went even near Cabrini Green as they had a murder a day there!!

(This was over 25 years ago, so I have no idea how it is now there in that section, but I still love Chicago!)

Barbe, I love that story and can relate. My girlfriend and I did the same thing in San Francisco in the 70's. We were in our early 20's and just so naive, wandering around at night, in the wrong area, but when we got back to the Hotel and told the staff where we'd been, they were mortified. lol

BW I love your pictures that is so cool with the reflection on the lake.

Barbee I did the samething in SanFransico too. We rented a car and were going to go on a tour bus and were supposed to catch it at the bus station. When we got to the bus station no one was in there except for a bunch of homeless people. So my friend and I made it to a gas station and my friend is talking to this guy. She comes over and says give me some money. I said what for? She said just give me some money quick. This guy comes over she hands him money and then he gives her directions and she gets in and tells me to drive quick. I was like what the  is going on? She said that he told her that he would let her go and give directions for some money. Scarey...
