BW, Those reflections are so pretty, and Lisa the Canadian Rockies look amazing, definitely one for the bucket list.

Nancy. I love all the effect on these Bean pics. Sometimes its fun to play with effects.

On the scary front. I was walking in NYC many years ago with my first husband, in the downtown on a Sunday. It was really quiet and a couple of guys started following us. We never walked so fast!!

Thinking about special effects, this is one I took of hotel windows reflecting in a lake one night. Its a bit wierd!

Lizzysmom, that is a cool picture of the reflection.

    Nancy like your Chicago pics.

Lisa, the Canadian Rockies are beautiful.

Ariom, like your birds picture that look like they are going to get into it!

Lisa, I never did say that your husband looks so familiar. I can't figure out who he looks like. I think it is an actor. Maybe Daniel Craig. You both were in the armed forces if my memory serves me right. Is that correct? Did your husband ever work in Chicago?

I was going to post a pic of the full moon tonight but I thought I could get away without a tripod and no such luck. I didn't feel like getting it out. The mosquitoes were already eating me alive. They have been really bad around here lately. I got some really interesting shots even so. LOL

Yes, we were both Navy Officers...he retired but I just served for about five years..and no he never worked in Chicago..about the only time he was there was in 1957 when he visited Northwestern as a cherub or something like that when he was a senior or junior in high school.

The moon hasn't shown its face here yet..I think I will go out in a while and check it out. I generally use a tree or the something solid to hold my camera steady, but maybe I shall try to find my tripod..we really have nothing close by that would make a good photo..

Have you tried switching brands of arimidex? or femara...?? worth a try if not..several of my friends couldn't take the one brand but could another or generic. or vice versa..

What is that in the first shot of the moon. I got a very similar shot with the tree branches but mine were just not focused enough. I don't have any handy trees to lean on and still get the shot I need. It was a cool moon. My camera sounded like it was taking several shots and it would show busy for a few seconds. I didn't know what was going on. It didn't act like a typical slow shutter speed. It was strange. I am still playing around with this for sure.

Well it is way past my bedtime but I had a feeling you would post some moon shots so I am glad I saw them. What do you do to get that effect in the last shot?

    Good night.

Ariom, I did a double take on your bird pic. Did not have glasses on and didnt see bird 2 at first . Great shot!

Love the moonshots, especially with the plane. Its difficult where I live to get good shots. No beach or field to watch it rise over unless maybe I drive out to a farm. I have missed moon shots also due to getting eaten last time!! I have a telescope but its so big and heavy to set up and cant be left outdoors long really. The special lens that attaches to the camera to use it does not give good pics but will try again when I feel up to setting it all up in the yard. I love looking at the moon through the telescope. Just does not translate to camera...The one below involved me going down to a farm and setting up ahead of time a year or so back to try and get the red moon rising, used a big cheap lens but not telescope.

Lisa those are such cool pictures of the moon. Did you have a special lens on your camera to get that kind of close up? I just have the basic Nikon camera and want to get something better so I can really get some good pictures.  Love everyones pictures.

My grandpa worked on the Southshore Railroad for years and retired there as the Supervisor. I had to take this in his memory.

BW, my camera does something similar on scene mode (handheld twilight). Think it takes multiples and then processed them into a single picture to minimise the shake if no tripod is being used. Just a guess.

I hope you get your GI issues resolved. Would not be at all surprised it IS the AI as my tummy has been really off since a week after I started the Tamoxifen, do not think its anywhere near as bad as yours but different drug so who knows.

my camera has that handheld nighttime scene too..but I had to search for it..my problem is the auto focus..I haven''t figured out the manual focus on this camera yet..

Nancy, it's the lens that makes a difference in your shots, not the camera, especially if you have a NIKON. You get a LOT of shake in some of your shots but I LOVE it!! You've got a real style going on with artsy-fartsy looking shots....hehehehehhe

    LOVE the moon shots!

    Hi ladies,

Love all the moon shots and the Aurora Borealis. Very cool. I want to address some things mentioned. I have a Nikon D90 which is a DSLR camera. I have some neck and back issues and a very long and heavy lens for bird photography wasn't going to happen. Lisa shared what camera she uses for her close up birds which is a Canon Power Shot 50XHS which is a bridge camera with no attachable lens. I bought Lisa's model camera a few weeks ago before getting my mystery illness. I was using that camera last night on the moon shots that didn't turn out well. I am used to shooting mainly in aperture priority on the Nikon and AV on the Canon so I tried a scene mode and I think dialed to continuous shooting by accident. That is why I was getting what looked like double exposure and sounding like it was shooting multiple shots. It was cool in one way but certainly not what I was shooting for (no pun intended).

I do love the Canon. My winning swan photo was taken with the Nikon but the newer swan pics were with the Canon.

Lizzysmom, I would love to see the moon through your telescope. Sounds neat. I love your moon shot. Beautiful.

Nancy C That is neat that you got to get a shot from your grandfathers railway.

Nancy, you might have had "bracketing" on. That takes a shot and then one up and one down in exposure. That way you can chose which look you like the best. Also, the pics can be blended for an HD look.

Thanks lizzysmom, that bird pic with the Swan was a fluke! I am loving all the moon shots too!

    Barbe,

I haven't had a chance to look at the manual since last night to see what that icon meant but it is either continuous shooting or something similar. I thought with the bracketing on you took the three shots yourself and not firing all three in one push of the shutter button. Geez, it was hard enough to remember all the stuff on my Nikon and now I have a whole new set of new stuff on the Canon. What was I thinking! I do love this 50 power zoom on the Canon though. It really solved my dilemma with the lens situation. I knew getting a lens for my Nikon was going to be thousands and heavy on top of it. This camera wasn't cheap but it was a much cheaper option than getting a really expensive lens just for bird photography. There is definitely an adjustment shooting this smaller camera but it is doing what I want it to do as far as getting really close up shots of birds. So I don't regret the decision. I just haven't felt well for almost a month and haven't really played with it much yet. Thanks for your input. I will look up bracketing and see if that was what I dialed in.
