Very cool! Now if it was gluten free bread I could put some ham and cheese on there. You're making me hungry! I can imagine that it is hard to get the lighting just right. Glad you are up to practicing.

Oh my, Lisa, what a wonderful collection. I have been sitting here looking at the fellow on the bottom right as he reminded me of somebody. Just realized I think it was an old cowboy show, Something about his posture and expression makes me think of Cheyenne!!

Good idea. I am amazed at how much they show different faces. I just have to take a couple of hours and take some more pics.

The one in the center on the bottom looks like a guy I knew

Lisa, what great shots. I think they all look like guys I used to know. LOL

Well the diagnosis is in. I have shingles for the second time. I had them five years ago and even had the shot last year. The itch is about to drive me crazy.

They do all look like guys I knew too!

Bandwoman, I don't envy you having those Shingles. I had them when my Dad passed away and they were awful. Were you able to get the medication in time?

yikes, so sorry about the shingles..what a bummer

I started meds tonight so I am assuming I got them in time. When I had them five years ago I had pain and no rash and my doctor gave me this sober look like I had cancer. He was worried about the chronic pain that can happen. Thank goodness the rash ended up presenting itself and I flew over to the doctor in time to get meds. I am quite concerned about my face. It feels weird and I have a spot near my eye. My doctor doesn't think it was shingles near my eye but definitely on my back. I am supposed to call him in two days so I will be watching closely. I don't remember the itching being this bad the first time. Since I had the vaccine I think that does protect me from the chronic pain. I had just got back to my swimming routine and now no swimming.

Yes such a bummer. How long does is it likely to last and keep you out of the pool? I did not have chicken pox until about 10 years ago so I expect shingles will catch up one day.

What a crazy day. I saw my gynecologist and I had him look at this itching spot near my eye. My face feels numb. My primary doctor said shingles is definitely on my back but he didn't think the spot on the eye was. My gynecologist today did think it was shingles on my face. I called my primary and he wanted me to come in tonight at 5. He said I still do not think it is shingles on my face but he wants me to see a dermatologist and he said cutting may be involved. Oh great! So I will see the dermatologist on Thursday. My cat is being sedated tomorrow for shots and other things so I am glad I didn't have to postpone that. I can't swim until the rash heals and the rash looks much worse this time than when I had it before. Other than the itching I am very fortunate that I don't have any pain at least so far. If I have a milder version because I had the vaccine then who knows. I asked my gynecologist if I looked like I had a moving target on my back. He laughed. I was telling him that I had to be in PT because I injured my rotator cuff during the breast ultrasound. He didn't know about that.

So I just completed three doctor visits within a 24 hour period. I feel like I am back to treatments again.

I wanted to take time to honor all of our veteran's who have given service to the USA. I wanted to honor my late father who was a Marine in WW11 and the many thousands of men and women, including our very own Lisa and her husband, who have given their service to our great country. For without their service we would not have the freedoms that we have. Thank you Lisa and all the veterans.

I took these pictures a few years ago. The night picture was before the event was even open to the public. When I first saw it I got all chocked up. It was quiet and no one was there except a few policeman. The tower in the back is a carillon tower which I enjoy going to those concerts in the summer time. My last picture is from high up in this carillon.

Thank you Lisa. My Dad would be so thrilled. I will have to show your post to my Mom when I go down for Thanksgiving. She will be pleased I'm sure. I am off to the dermatologist this afternoon. I have developed a rash from the shingles meds. Can you just believe it!

Wow, such beautiful pictures Lisa. I was thinking I want to be there until I saw it was in Alaska. LOL It is so cold here that I am ready to go anyplace warm.

I am dealing with a secondary rash now besides shingles. I saw a dermatologist last night. She determined that this spot near my eye is not shingles. However she saw this place on my skin that I have been concerned about and she thought it was skin cancer and did a biopsy. She then said it might be benign. The ointment she gave me for the itching is unfortunately either doing nothing or making things worse. So it's been a fun week!

Bandwoman, I am so sorry to hear what you're going through now! As if the shingles aren't enough, another rash to. I hope it all clears up ver fast for you and that biopsy comes back benign!

Lisa those pictures are not something I would have thought you'd see in Alaska. Just beautiful and the colors are fabulous.

Nancy and Lisa, wonderful tributes to the veterans. I was born in Europe and know that but for the sacrifice of the US veterans there likely would not have existed the England that I grew up in.

Lisa, Amazing photos. They show a whole different picture of Alaska that we never see. They look like an enchanted garden, beautiful!

Nancy, I hope that everything is OK with your biopsy and all is benign, also that that itching will improve. My goodness, you need some respite from these health issues. You have had one thing after another. I have had some itching under my breast where I had radiation. I thankfully sailed through rads with minimal issues but now 3 months out I have been scratching. It started after I used a heart monitor for exercise which works great BUT I think the band irritates the radiated skin....

Its definitely started looking like the end of fall here this week. It snowed during the night but did not stick to the pavement. I took a couple of pics early one morning when it was misty.

    neat misty pix..love them

it i strange for me to see telephone and electrical wires...ours are mostly underground...

can't wait to see pix of snow..we don't get to experience that here. We have to go up the

nearby mountains...so let it snow, let it snow let it snow..at least in pictures

Lisa, I so wish they were underground. I love that big tree. Its just round the corner from my street and from most angles photos are spoiled. I had one I took a couple of years ago and photo shopped out all the lines, just for my own satisfaction!!

Thank you Ariom, I sure hope this itching stops soon too. I have basically been itching since Thursday of last week. My shingles rash has improved as far as that itching goes probably because of the meds. The underarm rash has been bad now. I was up til 4am last night because I couldn't sleep because of the itching. I actually thing the prescription cream I got last night is making it worse.

Lizzysmom, My RO wants me to still use  Aquafore so I have used it every single day since rads ended. I just use it once as opposed to the three times a day during rads. I don't know if everyone is told to do this but you might use your lotion that you used during rads if you aren't already. Unfortunately I have had many health issues in my life and many surgeries. I wasn't expecting all of this though right when I was trying to get my life back on track after rads. I had just gotten back to my swimming routine and now I can't swim until the shingles rash is gone. My office visit summary from the dermatologist said that they will call me if there is a problem with the biopsy. If it is benign they will mail me a letter in 10-14 days so at this point the longer I don't hear anything the better.

I love your pictures. They have a mystical quality about them.

Thanks for your words about the US.

How is your sleep? Have you found anything that will work for  you? Are you still working on your indoor lighting module?

    Have a great weekend.

Thank you ladies. I have to thank the tamoxifen for those misty pics. I left for work earlier than usual as I knew I would not get back to sleep so I may as well go in an hour early and leave early LOL.

Lisa, I really love the Alaska shots. I had no idea it was so pretty.

Nancy, I have been neglecting the skin care recently so thanks for the reminder. I used Elta that the RO gave me and that worked well. They did not really stress continuing to apply for a while and I gradually stopped. I also have some Aquaphor than I got back in June and never opened so I better get back with the program. Hoping that you get no call from the dermatologist, although its stressful having to wait.

I managed to sleep for nearly 5 hours straight last night. I switched the tamoxifen to the morning and took 10mg of the ambien generic so I am going to try that again right now as its late here!!

I went down to the basement for a couple of hours, photographing apples and tried an ornament and an orchid from Shaw's supermarket but I was getting tired by the time I got to the orchid. I needed about four hands really. I had my camera on a timer and also used the auto release cable while waving a 13X19 sheet of photo paper around to try and block light in places like it had in my course literature.I also had another big piece of polystyrene foam that I was using to reflect light on the opposite side of that pesky apple and it kept falling over. I probably should have turned it round so the light side was in shadow but that's for another day! I really must work out the bracketing on this camera. Its something I have never really done and I think it would make life easier adjusting the exposure. A couple of things they suggested I just could not get adjusted on my lights. They are a cheap and cheerful set that I got and I am working in a very small space but I am waiting on some large pieces of cardboard that can be used for backgrounds but also for blocking light so they should help.

Lisa, love those Alaska shots. Such a beautiful place. I have seen the pics of the cruises and the ice and snow but never pics like this. Just beautiful.

Lizzysmom, When I see any pictures of fruit now I will have a much greater appreciation of just how that all happens. That is one thing that I just really hate to think about learning in photography and that is all the lighting and of course that is key to any good picture. I love the fish and the orchid and can appreciate the difficulty of shooting the apple. Very interesting and unique.
I should be in bed now. Way too late. I hope your new regime for your meds works. I was up till 4am the night before last because I couldn't sleep and was trying to not take meds. Obviously that didn't work out so well. I was itching like crazy and that wasn't helping. I would say your course is definitely paying off. Those are really cool pics. Keep up the good work.
