Sula.. I bet your yummy tart tasted much better than the food in that awful fridge that "must be named and dated " 😞 You should of taken in a few wine and cracker magnets to brighten it up a bit.!! Hope you had a fun night with your friends!
0 -
Lucy,
it's tonight..just finished baking and filling the tart, making the glaze for the berries and I canned some peaches...now I am hot and stinky and am going to take a cooling relaxing bath before I make a detour to crazy town. I don't even want to look into that fridge!!!

Got nicely away from Crazy Town today with an expedition to a Hong Kong Dragon Boat festival in Queens, NY, on the site of the 1964 World's Fair. I'd heard about it for years but never been. It was great: races every 15 minutes or so, 4 boats per race, 12 rowers per boat as well as two extra crew, one to beat a huge drum--you can see it at the front of the boats--that keeps the rowers in stroke and the other in the back to steer and call out directions. Teams were largely Asian but some participants from around the world; meanwhile, the announcer spoke with an impeccable upper-class British accent. The boats were sleek and narrow, painted in bright colors with a dragon's head at the bow.
We snacked on sticky rice, dumplings, ginger beer, watermelon. A stage with traditional Asian music, a drum performance, dance. Ducks on the waterfront and pigeons everywhere. Very hot, so we stayed a few hours and called it a day!

rainy, that looks like such a great day! I remember the worlds fair and have seen the site of all but never gone to this event, should be on my list of stuff to do!

Rainny- your day sounded wonderful! Glad you found the exit ramp that took you in the opposite direction from CTown!
Loved the pics

Good morning!!
I had such a crazy week I had NO TIME to go to Crazy Town. Those boys kept me hopping. They all went to the beach this morning, and I just didn't have the steam left to go today.
Lucy, thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry you lost your mum at such a young age. So difficult for a girl losing her mum so early. That is great you had that time with your dad. My dad always said he would go out walking, and he was true to his word. My kids loved having him live with us. It's nice that our kids have those wonderful memories. I hope you had a great time having lunch with your little ones!! Also hope the time with your DH's parent was fun!!
Rain, I think those are the most difficult stories for me. Hearing of women that passed away before getting to raise their children. It is just heartbreaking. Greens and cottage cheese??? I must say that sounds kinda gross to me!!! hahaha I don't think I will take on my DD's eating habits. I just don't think I'll ever eat pig's feet and knuckles!!! Seriously though....it's nice you can eat those things and think of him!! The Hong Kong Dragon Boat festival looks like a lot of fun!! I'm glad you had such a good time!! Thanks for posting the pics. I love looking at pictures!!!
Ducky, I hope this sale goes quickly for you, so you can move on and get some rest. Those memories are all in your head and will always be with you. That is the wonderful thing about memories, they never go away. I think you should go at your own pace and not let anyone make you walk if you're hurting too much. I used to feel really uncomfortable using my wheelchair. But then I realized I wouldn't be able to do some of the things I do with my DD without it. So I try and swallow my pride and let her push me around. It took me a long time to let her do that. I kind of like the idea of it looking like you have a load on!!! hahaha....it reminds me of your solo cups!!! I want my youth back too!!!
Sula, sometimes our parent's are just too stubborn for their own good. In the end they are our parent's, and we just have to let them do what they want. My dad put up a little fuss coming to live with me after my mom passed away, but I knew he didn't want to be alone. Plus he had the kids to keep him company. If he really insisted like your dad did, I probably would have complied with his wishes. It is shocking when we lose them quickly. My mom passed from Lou Gehrig's disease, and that was a long drawn out process which lasted about 3-4 years. It was difficult watching her suffer. I guess NO WAY is a good way to lose our parents. That dessert looks so incredible!! One day I'd love to taste one of your desserts!!! If you're every in the LA area, let us know. We will come meet you somewhere for lunch!!
PTS, I hope you found your toolbars!!! I will be happy to help as much as I can with any computer problems you have. I can usually figure most things out if it is windows based. Hope you're feeling better from your chiro visit, and I hope today's visit goes well!!
I guess I better try and get something done around this house. There are toys everywhere!!!!
Oh yeah.....I forgot to tell you all!!!!!....I got a new addition to the family this weekend!!! Meet our new boy....Murphy. We went to PetSmart to get our younger dog trimmed for the summer, and we left with Murphy. Poor dogs owner passed away a month ago, and he went to a shelter and then ended up being picked up by a rescue group. He has been through so much in the past month. The resuce group said he has been very depressed. You all know what a sucker I am!!! I just couldn't say no. All weekend long he had belly rubs, kids to play with and my big dopey dog to run around in the backyard with. He growled and snapped at Jax at the beginning, but they seem
to be becoming friends. He doesn't seem depressed anymore!!! He is a beagle/jack russell mix.

Slow, still missing my toolbars and may take you up on your offer. Hate it when I loose stuff on the computer and this one is the pitts!
Been doing the chiropractor for my horrible back pain, dang but it is helping! much less pain, have been taking an anti inflamatore that doc gave me as spine guy things it is inflammation from the injury remaining as I can not take NSAIDS. Well definitely getting relief and keeping fingers crossed. Course if I had not been so stubborn maybe I would have gone sooner
dumbo here

Geeze,
just posted something..and my computer ate it!!!! ok, I'm going to have to check all of this out later, as I have my annual check up at the Obgyn...such fun!!!! See you guys later.
0 -
PTS, what toolbars disappeared?? In your web browser??
Sula, Good luck today. I'd rather have my eyes poked with sticks than go to the OBGYN!! Hope all goes well for you!!!
0 -
the toolbars that allow me to edit, copy paste and such
they disappeared once before but I found them, now I can not remember where to find them! clearly I am computer challenged~~

Slow.. Murphy is just lovely.!! I bet he's one happy chappy that you are his new Mummy :-) It does take a little while for a new doggie to settle in with an existing one.. a few grumbles here and there, until the pecking order is sorted.!!
Sula. Thinking of you at the Obgyn. Seriously...sometimes I wish I was born a male.!! Although... maybe a prostate test isn't much fun either. 😱
Yesterday the Brisbane show was on.. Hubby and I went as he wanted to see the chooks and ducks pavilion.. It was quite fun really.. I love looking at the decorated cakes as well.. My daughter cooks and decorates wedding cakes... Also some of the ring events were exciting.. blokes on motor bikes doing somersaults in the air.! We left with heaps of show -bags and fairy -floss for the grand -babies !!
0 -
Slow, Murphy is adorable! As for cottage cheese and greens: I've been craving cottage cheese since this whole chemo adventure started, so it doesn't seem too odd to me. I like the mild saltiness much more than yogurt these days.
Lucy: vocabulary: what are chooks? And fairy-floss?
0 -
Slow Deep Breaths AKA Deep throat
He is adorable!
Is he all settled in?
0 -
💗💗💗Murphy!!!💗💗💗
0 -
rainnyc..I've just done a spot of research on my trusted friend google...and I think fairy -floss is what you may call "cotton candy " ?? ... and chooks are chickens.!!!
0 -
Thanks, Lucy. Though I quite like "chooks" and "fairy floss!"
And good morning--since you're already into Tuesday!

Lucy, it never occurred to me that people wouldn't know the term chooks haha, it must be an antipodean thing. Mind you Aussies and Kiwis have their own words for things that need translating to each other too.
I went for a check up at my PS office last week, following fat grafting two weeks before. It was only to see the nurse (I have an appointment to see the PS in a couple of weeks), for her to check the wound sites etc,and she had a feel around the foob. I told her that there were a few lumps which were fat necrosis and she said she had never felt lumps like that before and needed to check with a doctor! How can a nurse in a plastic surgery clinic that does heaps of breast surgeries, not know what fat necrosis is or what it feels like?! Of course she spoke to a doctor who confirmed that that is what it was. Lucky I was pretty confident about it or I would have gotten a fright with her reaction

Sula, Ugh, the ob/gyn. Almost my least favorite specialty. Right after GI and colonoscopy docs. Hope all went well. Love your food stories and pictures.
Slow, beautiful dog. I know you are enjoying your family, but don't overdo. We need you here.
Ducky, Thinking of you preparing to sell the beach house (that's California for your shore house).
I think of myself as a cool cucumber when it comes to stressing over scans. Well, that seems to be a joke. I'm to have a hip MRI tomorrow evening and I've had to pee every 15 minutes all day. Hope I can sleep tonight.
Here's to fairy floss and chooks. Good night all, Jan
0 -
Suzyblue... HaHaHa... Yes chooks must be a antipodean thing. 😃 Are you from Australia or The Land of the Long White Cloud ??
Jan.. Thinking of you.. hope ypur MRI goes well.. We'll all be in your pocket !
.

PTS, I use the browser Firefox. If that is where you lost your toolbar, you can go to view and toolbars and check which toolbar you want to use. Most browsers should be the same. If you let me know your specific browser, I can give you better instructions.
Sula, hope all went well with your OBGYN yesterday. Thinking of you.
Lucy, Murphy is doing great. My other two dogs don't like being in the house. So it's nice to finally have one that prefers being inside. He fit right in....he is starting to get along well with my other young dog. They even played a little yesterday!! The chook and duck pavilion sounds like a blast!! I love, love looking at baby ducks. There is a local store we go to just to see the baby ducks and chicks.
Kathy, I think Murphy has settled in more quickly than any other dog I've gotten. It's like he has always lived here.
SuzyBlue, Welcome to this thread!!! So glad you found us. Wow, how weird that a PS nurse wouldn't know about fat necrosis. Maybe they don't work with a lot of BC patients????
JAN, Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying really hard not to overdo, but it's difficult when they are only here two weeks. The kids want to do all the old things we used to do. They are back at my sister's now, so I get a chance to get a little rest. The older boy asked me if he can just stay with me the whole time. hahaha I told him he has to spend time with his Grammy (my sister) because she has missed him like crazy. The younger boy threw a temper tantrum yesterday when he didn't get his way. I must say, I don't have ANY experience with temper tantrums and I didn't know what to do!! I asked his brother to do something for me and the younger brother quickly ran to the game his brother was playing. I told him he would have to wait his turn and he got VERY upset and just cried and cried for twenty minutes. A very LOUD cry. At first I said let's go take a little nap (I think he was really tired) and tried to get him to come upstairs to rest. He refused to budge. Then I decided the rest of us would go outside and left him in the house to cry. I told him to let us know when he was all finished. We were out there for half a minute and then he stopped. My kids never threw temper tantrums and it totally stressed me out!! Then he told me he thought his batteries had run low!! hahaha That cracked me up!
We are all in your pocket tonight for your hip MRI. Please let us know how it goes. I hope you were able to get some rest last night, and didn't visit Crazy Town!I hope everyone has a pain, stress free day today!! Love to all!!!
0 -
Beppy, that was brilliant! What a good way to help someone get over a tantrum! I love it!
Thinking of you, SulaDog, hope it all went without a hitch yesterday. Not my favorite exam, either. I just want them to hurry up with the 'beam me up, Scottie' medical scanner. I forget what it was called. Transponder? And then it fixes you too.
On another thread, A woman had posted a picture of herself after chemo had started, and then just a year or so later, and it gave me an idea, and with your help, if you would like to, I am thinking about doing an exhibit for October's pink festivities (yeah, right) showing graphic depictions of the ravages to our faces and necks! From before and after treatments. I never really thought of myself as vain, but apparently, I must be! Because I am really none too pleased what with treatments did to me. What doesn't show is bad enough, but I ain't loving my neck at all! It's much worse than Norah Ephrons'!!! I have been trying to get my art mojo on, and it gave me a spark when she posted! So if you think you might want to be a part of this, please let me know!
Beppy, do you think this is a good idea? Should I start a thread for this?
Love to all, I have been very busy, it seems i am only on the computer for a few minutes at a time, and then not again till hours later! But then I finally catch up to you all at night before sleeping!

hey slow, gonna try that, crazy me is still on explorer but really thinking of a new computer and have a pal who will be happy to chose an apple for me
off to druggist, my fav place
0 -
Tomboy, that is a great idea. I may even contribute my before and after!! It's scary!!!! Especially with the extra weight. I often look in the mirror and say, "Who is this person???"
0 -
PTS, I must have been typing when you posted. In IE you can just put your cursor at the top of the screen....the gray area on mine....then right click on your mouse or track pad, and you will see an option for toolbars. You should be able to turn them back on there. Hope that helps!! Enjoy your druggist!! haha

see now I knew it would something dumb like that, I need to hire my 8 year olf grand nephew
thanks
0 -
wow, turns out if I hit the dang correct button, it just appears, I definitely need my youngest nephew as this is just too too much for me
thanks Slow for helping this slow minded person

Hi all have been reading.
We were chooks on OMG so I am a silly old chook.
Having real problems with my back. Hope yours is getting a bit better PTS. PTS etc won't touch me so at present I just have to deal with it. See the specialist next week.
Thought you lovely ladies might like to see this.

This is my week old grandaughter Evie Marian Jane. Had such a wonderful cuddle with her yesterday.
Big hugs to you all.
0 -
Alyson - Oh what a doll. My daughters sure don't need any more children, but I'd sure love to have a baby to hold and cuddle. Sure hope you can get some relief from your back pain. Jan
0 -
What a darling--can't tell for sure from the photo, but is there a chance she's to be a redhead?
Miss those days of having one like that at home (but funnily enough, do not miss the sleepless nights!). Enjoy every single cuddle!
0 -
Alyson.. Evie is beautiful :-)
0 -
Aylson, good luck on the back stuff, finally went to a chiro and now in love! no cracking of bones but sort of what I think of as deep tissue s massage. No pain pills after 3 sessions, rained today but only a tad stiff.
I will send you to my lovely chiro and hope all goes well for you
0 -
Alyson
She is beautiful! Looks like she is contemplating big things already!
0 -
PTS, I am happy to help in any way I can. My 6-year-old nephew taught me how to use Google Hangouts. This new generation has been raised with tablets and know more than we do at times. I'm so happy to hear that the chiro is helping you!
Alyson, Evie Marian Jane is just beautiful. I could just squeeze those cute little cheeks!! Hope they find a solution for your back pain. I think we are all slowly falling apart.
0 -
She is just the prettiest baby. Congratulations!
Speaking of falling apart, I feel today that I've aged at least a decade since December. My mind still feels young, but the continuing post mastectomy pain and now either leftover chemo pain or new Tamoxifen ailments have me unable to walk upright. I'm like cro magnum woman.
0 -
Tomboy...
Great idea. I hate my neck too but I hated it before bc so.....I've looked at selfies taken before and after and wow, I looked pretty ravaged during chemo... And look good now! I thought I was holding up pretty good during chemo evidently .. Uh no
0 -
My right calf is killing me! Now I'm worried about blood clots 😯
0 -
Alyson,
Cute baby she's a real sweetheart! Congrats to you and the family.
Slow,
I love the new doggy. What an odyssey! He must think he died and went to doggy heaven what with belly rubs and another dog friend to play with!
Thanks everyone for all the good wishes about my gyno visit. Everything looks good... At least what there's left of everything . So as long as the pap comes back ok...I won't see her for another year. Geeze I hate waiting for test results.... What else is new?!
0 -
littleblueflowers.. Sorry you are having pain in your calf.. Most probably just a strained muscle.. but I totally understand how the mind heads straight to Crazy Town, and it's not a fun town to visit.!! . I hope it is feeling better soon.
Slow... Tantrums are very hard to cope with. !! They make me feel like getting into the car and driving off into the sunset until.peace has been restored.!
Sula.. Glad your gyno visit went well.. Yep.. waiting for results is the pits.!!
0 -
littleblueflowers I had a lot of pain in my calf muscles and right below the back of my knee for about a month after my final chemo. But it has now gone away. Well, except if I over exercise, like do a 60+ mile bike ride day. Hoping it is just residual from chemo and will go away
0 -
Thanks ladies...yrrf. I am soooooo paranoid about every Lil thing!
0 -
yeap, Crazy town is very full these days. Fortunately my "tooth cancer" aka broken tooth has had a complete recovery and now is sporting my very first crown. Lovely, not painful today, course today dealing with the residual effects of a nervous stomach so that mush mean something bad there huh?
Slow, awh! now I get it, you have a 6 year old computer wiz! makes sense to me. I was at my sewing center (Bernina with lots of fancy new machines) and while us old folks are cautious with the softwear, teens come in and just start pushing buttons and become experts in no time
0 -
Jackbirdie, Cro magnum woman!!! YES!!!!! That is how I feel too. I walk hunched over like my Grandma did. Too bad I can't install a crane in my house to hoist me out of the chair!!
LBF, I'd be thinking I have calf mets for sure!! haha I do notice that I pull things much easier now. If I stretch the wrong way, my back gets really sore. Same with my legs. I hope you start feeling better soon!!
Sula, Glad to hear the gyno visit went well. Well....at least as well as those things can go. I hope those results come in soon, and you can put that behind you for another year. I had a big challenge with my two dogs yesterday. I let the big dog in the house. Everything was fine at first, but then the new dog suddenly started barking, growling and snapping at the bigger dog. Murphy was in my lap and Jax came over....Murphy went nuts. So I had to play pack leader, and put Murphy down and get in between them. Murphy was already getting territorial about me and the house. I spent most of the day working on them coexisting in the house together. By the end of the night, they were great pals. Now when I hold Murphy, they lick each other. What a stressful day it was yesterday. This morning I took a video of them chasing each other in the house. They've gone from one extreme to another!! haha
Lucy, I know how you feel!! I hate conflict. I seemed to have a lot of it this week with the dogs and kids!! haha
Italychick, 60+ miles on your bike????? WOW!! That is amazing. Did you do that through chemo too?? You would get along really well with the exercise thread ladies too!! I am always so impressed with all of the exercise they do. You just couldn't ask for a better bunch of people. Even when I did a little bit of exercise, they were always so encouraging. It was great seeing them all again this summer. I wish they were coming back next summer too. Once I get moving again, I will participate in that thread again.
PTS, tooth cancer....hahahahahaha
Yep, you are in the right place!!! I've never had a crown before but it sounds like a painful process. I have a lovely hygienist I go to every six months. I've been fortunate not to have any problems with my teeth other than them being on the move after chemo. My front tooth is starting to overlap the other. I told my DH if I make it to 5 years NED, I will get that fixed. Hopefully it doesn't look too bad in the meantime. My little nephew (faux grandson), will be spending the night tonight. He has been bugging his mother since he left to come back. He loves to hear all the stories about me rocking him in the rocking chair when he was little. My DH and I would sing him to sleep. I miss having a little baby around the house. I love seeing all the grand baby pictures you all post. It gives me great hope that one day I will be a grandma!!
I just love our group of crazies here!! It's comforting knowing we are all going through this together. Hope you all have a pain free day today. Love to all!! Lurkers too!!0 -
Rain, I know you have your pet scan today. We are all in your pocket. Sending best wishes for good results!! Please let us know how it goes.
0 -
SLow Deep breath,
We can put our pennies together to buy you one of those chair that tilts up and spills you out?
that is better than a crane!
0 -
Slowdeepbreaths, the PET scan went well. As you know, it's a non-invasive test, just a long spell of tedium. Now the hard part: the wait for results. MO is on vacation, not back until the 24, so I have to decide if I want the results from her nurse (just the results with no game plan), or from the BS when I see him next week (his input on surgery) but not more chemo/rad or just wait for the MO and get the results and a game plan at the same time. Too complicated to think about now! I think I'll wait 'til I get the email that the results are in and see how I feel.
In the meantime, broke the carb fast with a toasted buttered bagel--delicious.
0 -
well personally I think a buttered bagel is worth breaking a fast at times.
I seem to have lost some weight recently, sort of thinking it is the more time at the gym that has done it so maybe I should have a bagel as well~~
0 -
hahaha Kathy!!! I hope it's a BIG chair!!!
Rain, glad to hear it went well. The waiting is so difficult. My BS has clear instructions to call me the minute she gets any results. My MO has instructions to email me. I HATE having to go in just to hear results. It sounds like you have a lot of patience. I absolutely love bagels. Although, I haven't really found a good bagel place here in CA. I loved them as a kid when we lived in NY. I agree with PTS!! Eat that bagel!!! hahaha
PTS, I can't wait to say those words. I lost weight!! I do think I may have lost a few pounds though. I guess I should weigh myself one of these days. Did you mean to lose weight??? I know some people can't keep weight on no matter what they eat.
0 -
Rainny glad it went smoothly. And I know there's nothing in the world like an NYC bagel! Yum!
Beppy- I have to plug for Italychick. I was lucky enough to be unlucky enough to be in the March chemo group. Italychick was our inspiration, the woman who showed us all what could be done. She rode over 100 miles on a bad week during chemo, and even when she slowed down, couldn't do a hill one day, had the big D, and even her freaking bike broke once (no doubt from overuse) she kept going. She was our lady in shining armor 🚴🚴🚴 and not uncoincidentally, was among those who suffered the least SEs, and bounced back the quickest. She kept all of us pumped up to do our own best, taught us about all the things one can do with coconut oil...she is a very funny, loving lady, who is a credit to this board. She will never know, because I can't even put into words, how her simple presence helped me get through chemo.
