By the way, see the NP at the derm's office today about the itchy mole on my back. She took a biopsy but said she is sure it is benign! However, she did a looksie all over and I have pre cancer on my face. I have to go back in January for either cream or light treatment. Anyone have experience good or bad with either?

I have been building myself a padded ladder so the rungs will be less painful when I hit my chin while slipping back into the rabbit hole.

My heart hurts from the news. Slow's warm, welcoming nature was evident in her posts. Tomboy invited me to CT, she saw my need before I even knew I had a need. Beppy welcomed me and I knew I was home. I am hoping to one day return to the treehouse and leave the rabbit hole behind. I need all of you to accomplish that. It would help if we could redesign the rabbit holes...they act a bit like a toilet bowl....you get spun around and then sucked down. Tricky buggars

    Love you all bunches. XOXO

RobinLK: I can only propose a trampoline at the bottom of every rabbit hole--you know we've all fallen in ours multiple times!--and a group of CrazyTowners at the top to drop a knotted rope down, ready to pull us up when we need it.

Oct ..congrats on retirement .. We have retired since my diagnosis ..Hubby was 56 at the time. , but was always flying out , within Australia and overseas with work ...So he decided to call it quits ..We have had a couple of lovely years doing what we want ...and don't miss going to work at all ..life's too short ..

Queen ..Yes ..great way to redesign the wretched rabbit hole. !!

I love everyone's stories ..I only have my emails to remember Beppy ..but I've never deleted one of them ..not even the ones from before she progressed ..

Robin, always ready to throw down a lifesaver or a ladder!

Still mulling over what to bring. But meanwhile, the cookie recipe--from King Arthur Flour--is too easy not to share:

Cream a stick of butter with two tablespoons of honey. Add a heaping 1/4 tsp of salt, a cup of flour, and a tsp of vanilla. Mix well, then add a cup of finely chopped walnuts. Chill for an hour, then roll into walnut sized balls and bake at 300 for 16-17 minutes. Dust with confectioners sugar when out of the oven.

Funny about Beppy and photos. When we met, she actually initiated the photo session. I was surprised, because I knew she was camera-shy. Now I wonder if she was documenting their trip for Bud, knowing they might not have much more time together.

Robin! You found it! I am always happy to toss a soft on your hands rope down the hole or we need to permanently install stairs. Hmmm...the trampoline may help take our blues away!

Pepper, a belated welcome! One of my friends had renal cancer 10 years ago and she is fine now.

Robin, I love that picture! Thanks for posting it again. I have been down that rabbit hole a lot, too, these last few months.

My endoscopy showed a gastric erosion. I'm not 100% sure what that is, except that it's sort of like an ulcer, only not as deep. I'm waiting on biopsy results to see what happens next. The CrazyTown never ends.

Molly, I think my mom had that same pre-cancer, but it was back in the day when they just removed it - they didn't have all these options that they do now. Hopefully someone who as tried one of the newer treatments can fill you in.

Mmmm, okay, i am hungry now. I make weird things, though, like kimchi quesadillas, I make a mean rhubarb pie! but I love love love italian wedding soup. I have never tried to make it however. I also make greek inspired enchiladas, it has feta cheese and kalamata olives, with a tomatillo sauce. Yum.

I used to send Beppy pictures of what ever I made for dinner and desert, you KNOW she loved her food! One of the saddest things that happened to me, was my phone got "disappeared", and that's a long story. But, I had pages and pages and pages of texts back and forth with Bep, and I would re-read them some times, and that was when we were still texting! because her and Bud did this thing that me and my man do too: word games and puns and plays on words. my man is really good at it, and sometimes so subtle that I haven't realized that he even started a round, until he points out that something went right over my head. So I have to go back a few sentences of what he said, and off we go! So I would share with her, and i could hear bud responding too. Laughed so hard sometimes, and I loved those texts where i could actually read them again! So I was really upset when my phone went dark. But now i smiling to remember how she made me smile, so thats good.

Cubbie, I too had a gastric-esophageal erosion (“of likely chemical origin,” i.e. NSAID overuse). Had to be ‘scoped only two years after my first BOGO special at the GI clinic (‘scoped from both ends, results of both normal) when my routine physical about 6 mos. after my first knee replacement showed I was anemic (the blood bank rejected me too) despite normal ferritin levels. My downfall was switching from prescribed opioids & non-opioid painkillers (Norco, Opana, Tramadol, Neurontin) to the OTC “Bonesmart Cocktail,” devised by the feisty British orthopedic surgery nurse who founded that website & its boards, of Tylenol Extra Strength and an NSAID (Ibuprofen or Naproxen). For my second replacement, I had to wean to plain Tylenol Arthritis Strength and one Celebrex a day. The erosion & GERD are why I can’t take any oral bisphosphonates for my AI-aggravated osteopenia.

it is great reading all the posts and memories

So into CT for sure, just found out that to get a ct scan of stupid stomach thing, I need to drink the silly contrast

I am sure that will mean tons of stomach pain in order to.get to the root of my tummy issues, not sure if it is diverticulitis or a lesion as my pcd wants to rule out

Lost 4 pounds this week as get pains from all but a few clear liquid stuff so not getting much in the way of calories

Horseradish and Herb Crusted Beef Rib Roast is my Christmas dinner. I tried it one year and have been asked to make it every year since. Lol! This year I think I may try the Popover recipe from the same site. Linking the recipe here----> Herb Roast Recipe

Iris, Cubbie and Sandy - gastric issues suck. GERD sucks...hopefully they will find out how to create a work around. I have learned my triggers, but occasionally I get frustrated with the whole thing and misbehave. You know how sometimes you want something you know isn't good for you but you go for it anyway? Petulant...I know...I also know I will have to pay the price.

The trampoline is perfect! It will help with the cognitive issues, focus, and is great for depression. Happy it is a virtual trampoline, keeps it no impact...beneficial for plantar fasciitis and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Has anyone else here utilized myofacial release?

    Edited to add:

Lucy - what fun!! Beautiful family you have

(shyly) Glad the trampoline seems to be going over well, even if it is at the bottom of that [expletive deleted] rabbit hole. I can't imagine ever being despondent hopping about on a trampoline, any more than I can jumping double dutch or playing 'Miss Mary Mac'.

octo, if I did not say congrats on retirement, we'll here it is. Interesting as i got to gym this past week, saw a few guys that I had not seen in a While. One is laid off and not yet old enough for ss even, the other was planning on working till 70 till a family advisor pointed out how much it was costing him to commute into nyc. Cheaper to retire which is how it was for me.

Lucy, oh my goodness, Fiji sounds like an incredible place to visit.

Me. Ct scan is i think on Thurs but not sure. I do the blood test on Monday am and then head over to pick up the contrast drink. Lord can not think what that will be like but the gave me a special tummy Pain pill that helped a bit last night, need to take it an hour before I eat something so trying that today and hoping for the best.

Course in nj we have our first snow this morn although it is meant to warm up amelt later today

Iris, I really feel for you—when Bob’s colonoscopy resulted in a perforated bowel, at every ER visit he had to have a CT scan and drink 20 oz. of that nasty contrast stuff. The fourth time, he said to skip the CT and just cut and sew, which they finally did.

sandy, sounds like a nasty time, I did eat something, tiny bits of white chicken and a white roll yesterday. Felt fine this am but when I started to move, bingo pain hits. Now on sofa waiting on pain pill to work.

Sure not hoping for a cut and sew thing

In your pocket, Iris! Cookies freeze well, so you can save them for later, when you're feeling better.

Speaking of cookies, we had a potluck at work today, and someone brought macaroons, which reminded me of Sula - anyone heard from her lately?
