Thanks Ladies, I could use a few in my pocket! I have just set up an appointment with a counselor as I really need someone to talk to. I feel like since I had such a rough start with the port placement and the chest tube, collapsed lung with all the missteps from the docs that I don't know what I am suppose to feel and what is not the "NORM", then when I do go to the doc when I just cant take it any more they say run several tests and say nothing is wrong. Its just the Chemo! I want my life back. I have 6 treatments, so half way through. I shouldn't complain I know because there are those who have it so much worse that me.

thanks ladies for being there! I want to be with you all in New Orleans next year!

Frances- hang in there girl! I have flutters too sometimes and just reported them to my mo yesterday. She told me to do a test and check my pulse when they happen. If your pulse is fast but regular, it's fine. But if it's irregular, with spacing in between that's not normal, call. I did the test last night and everything seems fine. She said it could just be anxiety. I'm such a calm person and even keeled when pressured... But she said this is all such a game changer.

LTF- I still have stubble on my head but haven't shaved a thing. My lashes are about 70% gone and brows are getting gnarley looking. I'm sure that after this 3rd chemo I'll be completely hair free in a few days.

Val- the exhaustion has been cumulative for me as well.

Praline- you're so cute! And that wig looks great on you! I eat bananas to help with my upset tummy and they seem to work.

Reflect- loving all of these trip ideas!

Chambo- just found out that 3-4 weeks after my next chemo, I'll start 6 weeks of whole breast rads. Joy.

Nolagirl- I think the acupuncture may have helped! I was so sick last night but today, I'm not as nauseated or tired.

Scotbird- in your pocket on Friday! And rest up if you need to;)

Serenity- congrats on getting through your neupogen shots. My WBC's, platelets and rbc's rebound nicely. My neutrophils have decreased each time but we're at 1400 before chemo yesterday. Hopefully they hold to get through this next one!

Super sick last night after chemo number 3. Waves of nausea and diahrea and all over chills... Last night was miserable. But I took compazine(sp) and zofran together and just moaned myself to sleep. My husband said he sat up in bed and watched me and never saw me look so miserable:( what a sight for him... Bloated face from the fluids yesterday, bald, gnarley eyebrows, a frown and moaning... Poor guy!

WOOOHOOO, PIPER!!!! So happy to hear no IBC & that you're home!!!

MLP- Hope you heal up fast.

Frances- I'm sorry you're having such a rough go of things. I'm sending you lots of hugs & thoughts.

    Praline- You're looking so good!

All those who gone in for treatment #3+, I'm thinking of you & hoping your SEs aren't bad. I still have another week before #3. Then I'll be halfway there, too. Yay!

Thinking of you all and hoping you're getting to enjoy some beautiful Spring weather.

YAY Piper!!! So happy it's NOT IBC, and you are home. Still in your pocketHappy

Frances, I'm in your pocket. With fuzz on my bald head!! I'm the one with the bushy black eyebrows (go figure) and fuzzy grey stubble. Oh and I need a wax on my mustache. What happened to losing ALL the body hair?

MLP3 Glad it's not just me that is so exhausted. Hard to know what is normal. But then my new friend "ativan' helps. My anxiety gets really bad, the worse I feel, so glad I have those for those times.

It's gonna be a big party in New Orleans next year.

Piper! Such good news!! No room for IBC... Your pockets are full!

Praline, you're adorable! Love the wig.

MLP3... Hang in there. Couple more days and you'll feel better.

Jill, I had the same feeling today. I'm gonna let the stubble grow in a little and see what happens. It's a little prickly but maybe it'll soften up once it comes out a little

mine's getting soft! Heard some people grow back their hair when they're doing the Taxol's, hopefully that's true for me! Stubble doesn't seem to shake out anymore

    Yay Piper!!!!! That's so awesome.

Frances I'm with you. My husband had to take me to the ER tonight. I just couldn't anymore. When water makes you nauseous...water...you're done. I couldn't eat because YET AGAIN...I had the horrible THRUSH. I literally could hardly walk or form a sentence, I was so over it. They gave me 2 bags of fluids plus zofran. I felt like I came back from the dead. I also sometimes want to quit. I only have one more TC to go, but going through all the SE's is getting to me too. BUT.........I know I HAVE to do this...I just have to. So...I'm going to "suck it up and drive on" as a known military saying puts it...lol...got no choice. Just plow through..there's a light!

OMG that post has been edited to say ladies not oldies! I'm so sorry. Predictive text needs a slap! Ugh!

Now I can be in pockets to sufferers. Thinking of you all!

There is a celebratory dinner out and a hotel weekend with Grace for her next public speaking comp. ( don't think I can post the vid) you can see it on my FB if you want mine just pm.

    reflect hugs back so tight!

All of my ladies...hugs and so many thanks for pulling me through and your relief cheers!

MO is upset I was in hospital and so apologetic. We have video conference today and she may tweak. Never wants me to end in hospital again. We also need to talk about my bones.

I am so happy about no IBC. We will always worry about mets due to my particular dx and previous scare with spine, along with bone issues. This bc thing isn't as easy as being gone is it? Not in our minds anyway. Again, some people think and say "stupid" things. I just kindly educate.

Text you LTF. Hope you are ok this round.

    Pip😍❤️💪

    Piper, so thrilled for you!

MLP - I know...the rads thing seems like a long "to do" too...but at least it doesn't muck with your tummy, mouth, etc. My MO said it can cause fatigue by the end of the 6 weeks but much less than chemo. We will see...if there is a weird SE, I am sure I will find it...lol

LTF- I still have eyebrows but they are probably about 30% thinned. Eyelashes are about the same though you can't see them at all if I don't put on mascara. I haven't had to shave underarms or legs since the end of Feb (#chemoperk), and I have just enough stubble fuzz on my scalp to make it look dirty but not enough to create the Velcro effect so I haven't bothered shaving it. It doesn't seem to be growing any further or falling out...just sits there all stubbly.

For those with repeating thrush...get an rx for Diflucan. The mouthwash won't kill it off if you have it that badly. You need to get rid of those beasts and then pump up the acidophilus . I take one probiotic nightly now and haven't gotten the thrush back.

I also live on Propel black cherry water because I can't taste regular water (lost taste buds a while back in the middle of my tongue) and the electrolytes are helpful.

It is sunny today and warm...yeah!

I haven't shaved anything since mid-January, definitely a perk. I do still have random chin hairs to tweeze though!!

    Chambo, LTF, praline...you look amazing....

Congrats piper for no IBC...I'm so happy to hear that.

Thank you all for the positive vibes. I wanted to tell you that I got my 3rd dose FEC and it was ok. I've taken different med for cholesterol which contains "simvastatin" five days before the dose and I feel it successfully reduced the cardiovascular abnormalities..

Well I have to say, somehow I missed out on the free Brazilian and leg waxing! Not sure why but it gives me hope as far as my eyebrows and eyelashes! My hair is still like when I buzzed it, did loose it but it seems to grow back or not all go between treatments.

I had a wonderful compliment at my family dr. appt this morning. The secretary who has known me forever was so inspired by my positivity and laughing at some of the silly things this has brought to me. We talked about my son, who has quit his job in order to be closer to home and is looking for part time work while I go through this. He had graduated college and got his "big boy job" in Toronto the same month I had my surgery. Between the stress of his new job, commuting, long days and me being told I had to have Chemo in February, he himself had a meltdown at work. He hadn't told anyone and after losing his dad 5 years ago...was just too much. He and I are extremely close, something he never had with his dad, so it scares him a lot.

Piper! I am so happy to see you back and to hear such good news! Was very worried about what was going on and let's hope everything is worked out to prevent that from happening again!

Chambo, I will look into that rx for thrush but I am not even sure I have it. The mouthwash helped the few little sores I had in my mouth and my sore throat, now it is just like a constant tickle in my throat. I seem to get a host of cold like symptoms and mucus but it's not a cold. Thanks for the advice.

Suzted7 sounds horrible to have thrush and so I'm thinking maybe mine is just the cold symptoms I get. Tickle in throat causes awful cough etc. I never coughed so much when I was a smoker as I have since I quit!

Nola-I'll be overdue ready to party in Nola! I'm not a big drinker at all it feel a party coming on once I get through this!

Love the wig Praline! I overheat so much in mine I have pretty much given it up. My favorite is a buff!

Frances, glad you reached out and got an appt. sometimes we just need some reassurance and someone to vent to. You are with me, halfway through, we can do this!

LTF- thinking of you! I start the Taxotere/Hercepton next round and am nervous! You look fabulous and so happy you are already at number 5! Cheering you on!

Have my syma scan today to get me ready for my new regimen, Also got some non addictive sleeping pills from my doctor! Tired of being awake half the night!

Have a great day ladies, we are all coming along and moving forward. Thinking of you all xo

Hi again ladies! Just woke up from 5+ days' sleep from my LAST AC!! (You Low BP gals know what I'm talking about.)

    • Monday: First THP; they claim SEs will be MUCH less severe!
    • Tuesday: New BS/Reconstruction consult in the Big City

So much to catch up with here!

    Yay, Piper!!

Also thinking of and praying for all who have lasting secondary pains, injuries and diagnoses! I remember the morning I had back-to-back appointments to receive results from the (new) stereotactic biopsy and the (old) broken metacarpal x-ray. Aaah, the good ol' days! Aaah, the crap ol' days! Right?!

Would love to have a Mardi Gras get-together, to meet all the Fab Febs! Assuming it's on a Herceptin-free ("every third") week, of course.

Would love to meet some in Scotland as well! Fondest honeymoon memories of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverlochy Castle ruins, and a day's driving tour of the lochs!

Remember, a rinse keeps thrush off your mouth; but a trickle of flavored potato vodka keeps thrush off your whole throat and removes that nasty flavor too!!

    lovely Imani!

day 3 after taxitore number 2.

I'm off the steroids today and absolutely exhausted, and having a bit of tingling in my mouth and lips.

So far though, no bone pain! Let's hope that lasts.

Imani, you are Adorable! I love it! Did you glue them to a wig cap or just the inside of the hat? I might do another one too..so easy to put on and looks more real to me than a full long wig

  • imani76
    imani76 Member Posts: 44

Myra I did this in 5 min just on the inside of the hat....its old. Im working on one now with the net. My husband actually came home and loved this look on me. I agree with you its much easier than a full wig and cooler too. These days Im mostly in casual clothes so this works perfectly because I actually love hats.

I'm so happy that most seem to be having a better week. It's a hard journey we're on isn't it? But we are truly fab and we have lots to take on: scary tests, thrush, baldness, chronic fatigue and all the rest. Still managing to have a laugh and to smile most days is an achievement in itself!

I've taken steroids today ready for my first docetaxl tomorrow morning. I've made a long list of things to take with me - lots of ice, lots of warm layers. Have put on the dark nail polish (navy toes, rouge noir fingers) and have the vodka on hand, together with boxed sets of the complete series' of Mad Men and The Good Wife (never watched either of them and been recommended as easy viewing! Just in case I have to stay in bed for a while

    Bring it on!
