Scotbird, you sound ready for anything! Bring it on! Is this the last part of your chemo?
Imani, you look gorgeous, as always.
Elise, glad you're back
MLP, Suzted, Frances, thinking of you all and hoping you are feeling better.
I feel like I'm going into battle next time (#3) and have to so exact about zofran, compazine, senna-s, immodium and especially drinking enough water. And now I have sores in my mouth too. And so tired. have not bounced back after #2. One week to #3. I would like a few good days!
Wore my wig today to a variety show and saw folks I haven't seen for months. People took a moment to recognize me, and some never did. My hair was long then, but still..You know who "knows" by the response "How are you?" followed by "How ARE you?" Nobody said anything stupid, bless them.
Worked most of this week...well more than half anyway..and brought home tests to score. Sick time almost gone, next is personal and vacation. I'm lucky to have these I know.
Sleep well, everyone, and Piper, keep getting stronger!

Hope everyone is sleeping well. I'm sleepy, but I can't fall asleep until my older daughter gets home. She's 20 and was at a university function, but she takes public transit home. At this hour, I can't rest until I hear her at the door. Fortunately, she doesn't often do this. At least it finally stopped raining.
Good night!

She'll be home soon

Imani! Love it. I have ordered some hair and waiting for it. Going to try to a hat and maybe a bandana (Hulk Hogan style lol). Definitely need something cooler for my head.
Got my script for when I do my next chemo, Taxotere/Hercepton. Pharmacist made a big boo boo in the instructions. Glad I had read it and had seen the increase from before. I am not looking forward to the crash from that increase in steroids!

Imani- that looks great! How is it holding up with the glue?
Elise- so.... Low BP adds to the exhaustion on AC? That's me!
Chambo- when do you start rads? Mine will be whole breast for 6 weeks starting in May.
Ltf- I still have some hard stubble on top that won't budge! I'm thinking it will clear out any day now after this number 3 AC. Hang in there... Steroid withdrawal sucks!
Karen- so sweet about your son:) Sounds like mine, just older.
I got outside yesterday and got quite the sunburn on my head! But it felt so nice to be out in Warmer temps. I definitely threw the dry cleaner delivery guy for a looper with my bald head!! Here are my boys enjoying some time outside with me. I like to call them my nurses. By my side 24/7:)

Imani- Love the hats you and Myra are making. You both look Feb Fabulous! 👍
Scotbird- You are ready to roll! Where are you in your treatment schedule?
Piper- rest, rest, rest! You will gain strength daily!
Reflect- Hope you are finding some relief this weekend from the SEs. Have you tried the Magic Mouthwash for your mouth sores?
Chambro- kind of an old question...but what were your BRCA results? I re-read your first page to start the Fab Febs and didn't know your results and if you were planning on surgery or not. I am meeting with Dr. Sullivan with the Breast Center on St. Charles here in NOLA in the middle of April. I am a very lucky girl to live so close to the Center. I am BRCA negative and My Risk panel negative for everything...but my family history trumps my results. 5 out of 6 woman in my family in 3 generations have been diagnosed with BC. I've been told by more than one Doc that We basically have our own gene that hasn't been found yet. Planning on making a trip to MD Anderson after my reconstruction for gene testing to help them discover it! I have my 9 year old daughter to think about...
Happy April Fools Day! 🎉 (Btw...Non of my post was April Fools)

MLP- your "nurses" are adorable!

goodluck scotbird! I made the switch from FEC to taxetore recently, not fun but doable, feel free to PM me or ask any questions

Imani
You look great, and you are talented. I would get glue all over everything lol. I'm going to try this now, and by summer I should have it down pat.

MLP, LOVE your nurses.
I've called nurse about mouth sores. My gums are all swollen too.

MLP- I will start Rads late May. MO said they'd give me 3-4 weeks after last chemo (4/26) before starting to get my energy back up and make sure all my counts had normalized.
Nola- I am BRCA negative but have tons of secondary cancer history in my family (Pancreatic, Colon, etc). I had already had a hysterectomy that removed ovaries and then turned out to be ER neg anyway. I went with lumpx, chemo, and rads....but if I ever have even a tiny reoccurrence both these girls will go bye bye. Fool me once...

reflect ask for prescription mouthwash. Tastes vile but really works!!

Imani - that is adorable!
LTF - I hope that you keep feeling better

Nola - thanks for the encouragement
I am feeling better now and appreciate all the words of encouragement.

Chambro- gotcha! That was my original plan, but I didn't get clear margins from the lumpectomy and that scared me enough to do mastectomy. So then, yada, yada, yada, I am meeting to do right side mastectomy and reconstruction.
Frances- sooo glad you are feeling better!!!!

So the thought of the day is .....Should I leave my profession of clinical trial management to become a hair stylist after my treatment is complete ? LMBO...I am totally joking about the stylist but I am seriously contemplating a change but Im not sure what that change will be.
Im trying to keep myself occupied and get prepped for #3 next week. Im now a Wednesday girl instead of Thursday.
I hope you all have a good weekend and push thru your SEs. Im so looking forward to the light and the beach at the end of this tunnel
Be well.

Imani...you look fantastic!!! I just ordered my wig. I bought a human hair lace front wig. Does that sound like a good choice guys? I'm going back to being a blonde which will be strange, but all my friends said I should.
reflect- yes on the mouthwash but a good home remedy is baking soda and hydrogen peroxide or even just warm salt water.
My thrush is finally going away but some nausea has hung around. I'm eating small but I'm eating..lol...Just taking it easy because I sure would like a few good days before my next treatment!
Hope all sleep well tonight!

Thanks LTF and Suzted, I called the chemo nurse today and she recommended either baking soda/water or salt/water. I'm doing salt for now. She also called back and said my MO ordered difulcan (?) in case it's thrush. Anyone done this?

After 3 FEC, starting taxotere, any advice concerning SE? My oncologist told me they are different, less nausea but more muscle pain, is there something that helps ? I have been taking claritin before and after the Neulasta shot and never experienced muscular pain, does it help with the taxotere SE also

Post one of two I've been reading all...cute cute Imani
I'm on a celebratory weekend away and it is also my girl's district public speaking final. My talented baby had to pick a team due to winning the stages of two streams and her responsibility has lead her to go with the first she won with. The Royal Canadian Legion. It holds a special place in our heart due to ancestorical ties and pride of family;decorated war heroes.
Feeling fab. MO appointment went well. Yes, I am clear for IBC but there is a but. So relieved because that prognosis is not good at all, however, they have to keep an eye due to my MRI and the breast swelling and colour is not infection. Will be tested again in a few months as nothing invasive can be done. So we will worry just not so much.
Here I am early morning mama time. Syracuse Orange!
Ps. A childhood fam friend is in palliative care ... Not long now #fucancer

Post 3 a little levity
So I needed a pedicure. Thank goodness there was an English manager there. I should've known this, but they couldn't soak, do cuticles, soften the bottoms, just polish and put lotion on. one nail is just too cracked to fix.
I so badly want a hot tub fix for my sore and aching back. I have the plastic and surgical tape to cover my picc. I know it's a cesspit of germs and bacteria. Should I chance it?
Okay, off for a day of speeches and fun. Containing my sadness for my friend.
Piper xo

Good luck to your girl, Piper! My girl got her driver's permit this week. I'm a nervous mama but I just know she will be fine.
I would kill for a pedicure but know I can't yet. I miss having my feet rubbed! Feeling good after Taxol 7. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Konakona I just had my second tax after three FEC. They are very different.
Tax itself is easier during the infusion, it is one IV with saline, and you will be in and out a bit quicker.
The day of chemo and day after chemo I usually feel completely normal, maybe a bit tired but really nothing to speak of. I usually get a lot of errands done the day after chemo when I can.
Day three and four are very rough. I get very very tired, and my body kind of feels like it's buzzing. I wish I could explain that better but I can't. There's just the feeling everywhere, even inside my mouth. I also get the bone pain, it was much worse the last cycle than this one (and I have heard it is quite common for the bone pain to be worse the first cycle of tax) my bones ached from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. This time it's not quite as achy but I do still have twingy bone pain. I take Claritin on my Neulasta day until a week after, I had no bone pain on FEC but with tax I still do. Extra strength Tylenol or Aleve seems to help it. Was given a prescription painkiller as well, last cycle I used it this cycle so far I haven't
The other thing I find difficult with tax is that it is a much higher steroid dose for me, so coming off the steroids is hard. It adds to the exhaustion I have on day three and four, and also makes me feel quite depressed.
I do lose my taste more, and the first few days my mouth has a thin white coating on it, I don't think it's full-grown thrush as it does go away on its own. Mouth sores are the same for me as on FEC, I get some dry patches the second week but if I gargle the prescription mouthwash they go away pretty quickly.
With FEC, as long as I stayed on top of the nausea, for the most part I was pretty normal even on my chemo weeks. With tax on my chemo weeks there are a lot of times that I am pretty well tied to the couch. That said, it's definitely doable, and I am still OK thetwo weeks after (although I did get an awful cold last time, but if not for the cold I would've been fine, I had two days between the tax and the cold so I do know the tax SE were mostly gone before the cold started) Today is day five, and I was able to go out for dinner at my sister-in-law's last night, so I'm definitely coming out of the worst of it now

- I know some women can't have mastectomy surgery. I just like the tagof this poster.

piper- I wouldn't chance the hot tub. We have one at our NH house and it's soooo calling my name! Under the stars and surrounded by pine and birch trees with views... But I'm still staying out until I'm done with chemo. I'm such a freak about constantly changing the water too, so it's super clean. But still...
Imani- you could leave your job and sell those hats with the extensions! They are great looking!!

I finished my last AC treatment yesterday. Feeling good until I get my immune booster this afternoon. Does anyone have the constant runny nose I have gone through so much Kleenex
0 -
congrats blamoms!!!
I had the runny nose with the last two AC... But I'm pretty dry with this one. Go figure
0 -
my nose is always running. Congrats on finishing AC.
I'm five days passed my second tax. Better than the last one. I still get tired easily, but I'm not chained to the couch like I was last time, and the bone pain is not nearly as bad.

I get the runny nose and the need to pee in a hurryfor about a week after chemo.
