Oh Herman's Hermits.... I haven't though about them in years. I was dating a boy who was raised in England when they were popular. Ear worm...

One of my great claim's to fame... I never missed a chance to see Smokey Robinson. The last time was in the 1990s at a small theater in the round. We went backstage after the show to shake his hand and.... ta dah... he kissed me on the cheek!!!! Oh my....

Edited to say - I guess that leaves the field open for some other old concerts - Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross (and the Supremes), Johnny Mathis, Linda Ronstadt (and the Stone Pony), Joan Baez.... OK, OK - I'm MUCH older than most of you. One of my regrets - I've never made it to the Monterrey Jazz Festival.

Serentiy- R.E.M. would have been fun. Seeing groups before they get real popular is pretty cool, I think.

Minus - I saw Smokey Robinson too, but it wasn't until about 2005. He did the local casino sort of performance in a nearby city, so some old childhood friends of mine and I went and saw him (couldn't have cared less about the casino part of it all). He was much older by then of course, but did a good job and we all had a real nice time reminiscing. (No backstage or kisses, though - wink.) I think I saw that he was back again this or last year or something, but I don't think my friends and I have the energy to organize and drive all that way anymore. It's nice that he's still likes to perform.

Got that in one THreeTRee. It's very sad that I prefer not to drive long distances any more - or even really downtown in my huge city to come out of a show at midnight. I'm missing some concert I really would enjoy.

I was and am so fortunate that my Mother's family was all musical. My parents made sure we knew all the musicals of the time - South Pacific, Oklahoma, Sound of Music, West Side Story - and up to Phantom of the Opera. To my regret - I haven't seen Hamilton. Mother sang doing the dishes, we sang on all car trips - Nelson Eddy & Jeanette McDonald (and yes, those were from my Grandmother's era). We all sang in school choirs. When I was in high school, groups of kids got together on weekends with guitars & sang into the night (after listening to the baseball games of course). I had cousins who played all sorts of instruments with various orchestra - some even talented enough to solo on pieces such as Rachmaninoff's Piano concertos. As a young child I remember dancing around like trolls in our house to Peer Gynt's Hall of the Mountain King. I was often as happy to listen to classical music as pop or jazz - Itzhak Perlman or Mstislav Rostropovich or Frank SInatra or Elvis (both of the the latter my Mother hated) My favorite classical is still Bach and early Baroque. And jazz.....

So the ear worm tonight is Time To Say Goodbye.

And if that doesn't ring your chimes - how about Phantom?

Or what about the Righteous Brothers? I have a cousin who trades "guess that tune" clips. Guess I'd better stop on BCO and email her

But don't forget Gogi Grant and The Wayward Wind - from juke boxexof my youth.

Minus - I have loved musicals since I was a kid and still do. My older daughter loves them even more. About your last ear worm, I remember hearing it when it first was released and thought it very similar to another song that I couldn’t place. Notice any similarities?

    Oh yes - exactly.

Sorry I got so carried away last night. Whenever I get started listening to songs via Google, I just can't quit. Funny thing is I got out of bed to search the first one, and then two hours later... Not tonight, by my next post will be an interesting juxtaposition between generations.

    Jazzy - Wow!

My rising TMs were right. The last CT scan showed a spot on my liver. I’m waiting for an appointment with my RO on my local treatment options. This is all new to me. I’ve done some reading, but then I read something written by moth and need to stop.

    Breaking out my talisman.

Oh Serenity, so sorry to hear about your latest scan - I've got my fingers crossed big time for you. Sometimes those spots that show up on livers are benign cysts (quite common), etc., so hold tight!

That bracelet is indeed a nice Slice of Joy. I think it's going to bring you luckSmileThumbsUp!

Threetree, Minus, Jazzy - Thank you. I'm keeping myself distracted until I meet with my RO . My older daughter is sick with Covid symptoms but testing negative. She lives alone, but she can have whatever she needs delivered. Except Covid tests. My husband will drop off more tests on Saturday.

Stumbled across this video last night of Jacob Collier last night- one of my favorite young musicians. This performance has so much to it, and evolves through the entire almost 10 minutes so do watch it to the end. I found it to be very moving (and probably because it was one of my brother's favorite songs too). I hope you enjoy it.

Jazzy - you come up with the most interesting artists that I've never heard of. Amazing that he's only 28. Love the balloons.

    Serenity - how's your daughter?

Jazzy - Ditto what Minus wrote. I’ve just recently come across his videos. 👍

Minus - She’s still negative but has a terrible sore throat and now cough. Wish we could just bring her home, but she says she’s ok. This will be the first time we haven’t all been together for a holiday. She’ll get leftovers dropped off.

I repotted my orchids fairly recently. I was a bit overzealous when trimming the roots and lost some leaves in the process. Still 2 of the 3 phals have started new spikes. Thought I’d have to wait months more. I did ask for a new orchid that is supposed to be very fragrant. The chocolate orchid is almost done, and I will miss its scent. Until next time.

As promised - You're Got a Friend - comparison from then to now. James Taylor 1971 (note Carole King on piano) versus 2007. Love his comments & "history" of the song on the 2007 performance clip. And he's still singing it 51 years later. I remember those days. Which brings up Cat Stevens and Oh Very Young from 1974 - food for another day.

And might as well post another oldie - Peter Paul & Mary,. Check Dylan at this same Newport festival 1964 - Mr. Tambourine Man. And Joan Baez - 500 Miles.
