Happy Easter to everyone. It’s a day of hope, which regardless of one’s beliefs, is something we all need. And for some chuckles, pics of our pups.

I love those pups, too. 40 years of rescuing, mostly disabled dogs but some cats, too.

Thank you ladies for the very warm welcome. Your posts already gave me an extra bounce in my step. Finding oneself surrounded by brilliant, caring women is all that this person could hope for. As my aunt said to me many times, "you do not have an expiration date stamped on your forehead". So I don't look at statistics, as I'm not a loaf of bread. lol

Goldens, I love those pictures. The dinners I am sure were really good as well. I resisted another urge to order in. Instead I tried my popcorn idea as part of the main meal. Here is what I did if interested. I made a 1/4 cup black beans, 1/4 cup black beans and a cheese slice. Put another tsp of the peanut butter I do not like but will use up. Added a bit of bran to make it less moist and put in my chopper til I reached ground beef consistency. Microwaved that first and seasoned with salt and steak seasoning. Made the bag of popcorn next. Put some of the popcorn in an airtight container to use again added some dry ranch seasoning, mixed the popcorn I was using, mixed it with the bean/beefless ground mixture and just used my hands to combine. I ate it with a big spoon and it was delicious. I still have enough popcorn from one microwave bag to probably add popcorn to other meals. Great fiber content as well. I was very happy eating, was a party in my mouth. That was my easter dinner.

We had glorious weather for Easter weekend here, including some great sun yesterday for most of the day and I got some color on my arms (made sure to sit out to start sucking up some Vit D now the sun is high enough again). Unfortunately today its grey, cold, and pouring rain. Had a simple dinner of splitting an individual-sized beef wellington (from christmas, stored in the freezer), some mashed potatoes and a bit of greek salad. Been in the kitchen a bit more the last few days as hip is feeling better and I made Snickerdoodles for the first time in years - homemade cookies always beat bought.

Headed to the pool in an hour for hip workout - the front seems to be better, but now the side muscle hurts at times along with hamstrings as she is putting more focus on strength there. PT said we'll start gait training next week, which given I had started that three years ago just when the pandemic hit, Im looking forward to relearning how to walk without the weeble.

Sadies (Pat) - was thinking of you the other morning and wondering how you were holding up.

    irishlove - welcome!

Sadieservant I hope you’re doing a bit better.

Irish love I’ve found that some doctors and nurses have more respect for their patients and others are really poor at it. That was an awful way to give you that news.

Good morning room. I drove from my moms in Long Island to Pa with my mom. We visited my daughter for 4 days and now I’m driving back with mom. It was truly a beautiful weekend. The grandkids are doing well in their new city.

Ive been reading along. I hope to get mom home in time for group today.

    Take care all

Waving hi to Tanya, in your pocket to get back in time with Mom, glad the holiday was good for you.

I enjoyed the popcorn meal, it is good for the fiber and just a good texture. Still have a couple more helpings. Doing laundry, waiting on Amazon for a couple charging cords for my phone. May order some nails as the bottom of my table has lost its screws so it is really wobbly, waiting for it to wipe out since cats use it to hop up onto the couch. Cheaper than a new table I think and even less than the over arm tables. Also watching dog videos that pay me when the ads play so a win/win. Tucker Budzyn

Breakfast was fairly boring, beefless ground, beans, spinach, bran and a little cheese. Ground up to hamburger consistency. Added mayo, steak seasoning and salt. Going to try out mini pancakes at some point. Supposed to be walking but am lazy as of late. Weather is nice for the week so I should and will get out.

The poor cat has been worn out by eating and using the box, sitting next to me as I do my computer surveys or mobile games for cash.

Goldens - I love the dog pictures. What sweethearts!

Mara - I have a soft spot for the orange cats. It looks perfectly content on your lap.

Wishing all of us a good week. In pockets for anyone who needs it.

What a sweet cuddly kitty Mara!

Mel - what stuff do you have to drink the night b4? On scan day, first they inject the nuclear med for bone scan, then I have to drink some lemonade flavored clear liquid over 60 minutes for the CT scan. No prep to drink day b4

Barium. It comes in two bottles. One to drink the night before and one the morning of. It’s like drinking chalk. I have always had to drink that. I also get the contrast as well….

My hospital stopped having us drink the clear contrast stuff an hour before the CT scan. The scan is now super quick and if I go in with the IV line still in place from the NM injection it's even quicker. The only thing they want is for us not to eat for 2 hours before the test.

Hello all..Another busy weekend here. Friends came over for visit on Friday, friends for dinner Saturday and special son for Easter on Sunday. Then today husband wanted to go into town. All I wanted to do was sleep but out we went! Mel i also take the liquid the night before and the day of the scan along with the contrast. Definitely in your pocket for the results. Do you also have an appointment on Wednesday with a surgeon?

Irishlove- welcome to Mel's living room . How horrible to find out your diagnosis the way you did and on your own. We are all here for you.

Goldens and Mara- love the pictures!

We have 11 more sleeps before we bring our rescue dog home! I am so excited. Will definitely take pictures of her. Her name will be Belle as she is from the south!

Irishlove- ditto on the welcome. Your patient rights were violated by that damn doctor. You should file a complaint against him. What he did was unethical and inappropriate.

Well, I tell you, I am a disaster waiting to happen. I was changing the kitchen light, bulb part went fine but I had forgotten how the shade clips in, you have to slide it in the back clips and then pull out the front clips. Wouldn't you know it, lost balance on the 2nd step of a 3 step stool that even has a bar. Luckily, I landed on my butt and did not hit my head or even break the shade because the bathroom is right behind me with door open. Had I fell and the door was shut, would have hit my head. I think I fell because I spent too long looking up and moving about, next time will not be so bad. I was able to scoot on my butt to the living room and use a chair to pull myself up, few tears but I don't think there will be any lasting damage. I hope my PT can start soon, I need to regain my balance. I was also lucky not to slip sideways as my counter is right there. Geez, can't take this girl out to party.

Oh, dear mara, I'm glad you're OK. How scary and upsetting to fall. I think I'd shed more than a few tears if that happened to me!

Sunshine, so far as I can tell, I was not hurt, we will see when I sleep and wake up. I was crying from being startled and frustrated because it took a long time to figure out how to get the shade back on. I am grateful they are LED and seem to last a very long time.

I woke up feeling no pain from yesterday's fall so I am happy. Not sure what I want to do today, part of it will involve walking of some sort. Doing some laundry of some clothes that had been completely forgotten about which is always a pleasure.

I think my approach for this summer will be taking buses. I don't want to walk to the hospital and be majorly red faced, if I arrive early, I can travel hallways that are not busy and then check in to supplement steps. Since I know even a bit of heat is too much, not taking chances even in what might be considered pleasant weather. I do have to walk to the bus anyway, all stops at least 5 to 7 mins away. In the grocery store, I can walk around the store for more steps. I will allot some of my budget to the bus. We are already going to be very warm this week. If I want the step count of previous walks to the mall, just need to fill a day with around 15000 steps I think.

Going to try out a bean, rice, egg and precooked beef meal on one level of the sandwich maker and use the other to make an egg, will shrink portions a bit I think. Another meal may be a hamburger, again premade in the sandwich maker with some onion rings I purchased, will make it feel like a burger joint meal. Not sure after that what I would want. Precooked ground beef and black beans can be shaped to a burger shape and heated up in the sandwich maker. Yum.

I just got called, start PT in the home on Thursday so busy week for me with Herceptin Wednesday, PT thursday and routine echo on Friday but that is good. My SIL thinks my apartment is too small but I will let PT person decide, would prefer in home sessions anyway. I will need to sweep and vacuum night before and day of, cats will run and hide but I will keep them in the bedroom. I am excited because this is supposed to help with everything.

mara, congrats on getting the order for the PT. I think mine is helping. I walk to the clinic, but it's only about 1/2 mile and takes about 20 minutes. I allow 30 so that I won't be late.

Again, I'm so happy for you. I think it will help with a lot of things. I'm glad you're still OK after your fall yesterday.

Waving hi to the rest of my lovely ladies.

Waving hello to everyone. I’m doing okay, just slowly plugging away at things to try to get life organized. My breathing is sketchy but I find that as long as I pace myself I am still managing well. Sadie’s at camp today which gives me a bit of a rest but she’s being brilliant. Lots of encouragement to be a good girl for Pat when we walk so that I’m not having to deal with mule dog. LOL. She can be amazingly stubborn at times but so far so good. The hardest part is that she wants to play which for her means grabbing the leash in her mouth to play tug. I just can’t. Breaks my heart….

Not looking forward to Thursday as it’s time to have the nephrostomy tubes swapped out again. I had three miserable days after the last swap - not sure why. I’m going to ask them to go slow with the contrast this time in the hopes that was the issue. Really hoping the nausea stays away as it’s been such a relief to escape that. Mind you, it looks like the UTI has not resolved so I either need a longer course of antibiotics or a different one. Always something.

In your pocket for your scan results Mel. Sending positive vibes!

Sadiesservant, you seem to be coping remarkeably well in the circumstance you find yourself. I had 3 UTIs in 6 weeks , caused by new meds. . My oncologist was going to put me on a very low dose antibiotic that you take 1 a day for about 3 months [his mother used it effectively]. I believe its name begins with N, sorry I cannot be more explicit , but I am sure one of your medical team would know about it. I hope this problem is resolved for you, as it can be so debilitating.

Good morning everyone, my first session of whole brain radiation is this afternoon, wish me luck, hopefully everything will go smoothly. Mara, glad you didn't have any lasting damage from your fall. I don't do ladders, I get my lovely neighbour to change bulbs. I'm not allowed to drive since I got the brain mets but public transport is free for me which is great as the bus stop is just across the road.
