Keetmom, Don’t worry about your smile. Your beautiful soul shines through brightly. We cannot hold back the effects of our disease or its impact on us. We should not have to. You are not your disease. You are a loving, caring, strong woman, mother, wife and friend. No disease can change that. The picture is beautiful. You must be excited that Emma is returning soon, laundry and all. She will probably have a lot to tell you. Enjoy your day.

    Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

I second Lynne’s comments. Beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. I think you’re all amazing in your own powerful ways. Give Emma a hug for me please. Much love ~M~

Keetmom-Beautiful picture of you and your daughter!

I saw my oncologist today. She gave me 4 choices of the next treatment. She mentioned Faslodex, I had to remind her that was my first treatment, and lasted a year and a half (6 years ago). Then she mentioned tamoxifen. I reminded her that I tried that after I went through all the aramotase inhibitors (when I was first diagnosed), and it caused my liver function tests to go way up. Not good when you have liver mets. So those 2 were knocked off the list. The two left are Ixabepilone, which is given every 3 weeks. It causes neuropathy and it frequently has allergic reactions. Since the 2 iv chemos I have had, both caused allergic reactions, this one is probably not a good one for me. The other is Gemcitabine, She is going to set up an appointment at Dana Farber. The doctor I see used to come to Londonderry once a month (20 min from me), now she just stays in Boston. So we'll have to deal with that lovely (NOT) ride, back and forth. So we are on hold before starting anything. I hope they can get an appointment with her sooner than later. I hate not doing anything, but I haven't seen her in a couple of years, and want her opinion, and to see if there is anything else out there. My local oncologist, set me up for the Gemcitabine chemo in a couple of weeks, in case I get the same choices from the Dana Farber breast oncologist. My white cells were low today, as were my red cells, and my Potassium was high (I said probably from my bananas from last week, so none this week). She was doing tumor markers this time. She said she didn't do them last time because I had them done from the chemo before. I said yes but the did the wrong tumor marker. She looked it up and said they did the ovarian cancer tumor markers. She said it was actually high, probably because of my liver tumors (I don't have any ovaries! LOL). At least it's getting done (the right one) this time! So nothing is starting until after we go to Boston, and decide what to do. I'm going to enjoy my little break from chemo!

Have a nice weekend everyone! Hugs!

Keetmom, I agree with Lynne and Micmel.

Lynn, hope you enjoy the break from chemo, and then they find a good treatment for you. My brother lives in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Is that where the name came from, do you Know? I know there are a lot of places in USA with British and irish names!

I have been out for a lovely meal overlooking the sea tonight with my cousin and her husband, had some great laughs. Once again, good night from Spain x

Minnie, It sounds like you have a lovely dinner. I love eating by the ocean. The ocean brings me a sense of peace for some reason.

Lynne, I hope you get that appointment at DF soon. Would you consider a clinical trial if the oncologist suggested one? I know that DF has quite a few of them going on. I don't know how often you would need to travel to Boston, and that might be deterrent, of course. I think that the short chemo break will be good for you. I know you don't want to wait too long to restart treatment, but with all that your body as been through during the past few years, a few weeks without chemo might be a welcome relief for you. Just think, you will be free from hell week this month. YAY! Maybe we can get together for lunch. Hopefully MJ will be able to join us. I realize that summer is busy for everyone.

Minnie~another amazing woman. Always on the move having dinner with friends a lot and traveling. You ladies are very inspirational to me. I have been trying to push myself to do more. But am always sorry the next following days. The fatigue is the reason. I have very little pain anywhere, I do get traveling aches here and there and I do get headaches if I don’t eat regularly. I have been doing better with eating. I can already tell a difference. The fatigue just nails me to the bed. It is like seriously walking through syrup! Daily! Endlessly!

Thinking about Divine and the surgery on her foot, hoping you’re doing ok and it wasn’t too painful for you.

Lynnwood, I agree, i was just looking at the weather report. Our oldest dog tag keeps hurting his pads of his paws on the concrete outside the stairs outback to go to the bathroom. He keeps limping. It’s a chronic thing. Everyrime it heals, he tears it open again. Which happened again last night. So DH made a new set of elongated stairs that made three stairs into five... so it isn’t as steep and he won’t stumble anymore. What a nice Daddy. He is such a good dog for sure!!! Goodnight. Much ~M~

    Divine, hope you are ok.

Micmel, have you tried cbd? I can only say I have felt more energetic since taking it. Good that you eat though. My taste seems to have changed completely so I am trying to adapt!

Good morning all. I skipped work and DH and I had a beach day instead. We drove down to Galveston, had lunch, went crabbing (too few and small, let them go) and stopped by the house we got married in 17 1/2 years ago. It’s the pink one with the large deck, it’s been remodeled and painted since hurricane Ike but still standing 😀

Thank you, thank you, everyone, sooo much for the well wishes. Doc said surgery went well. It amazes me what an elaborate process it is to navigate thru hospital procedures to get a pin in a small foot bone! I was super appreciative that all the many medical personnel taking care of me at various stages were thorough, super kind and attentive. I’ve no complaints, and I am a complainer when its called for!

Dh has been terrific as a care giver. I’d say my foot has a bit of ache but would not really classify it as pain at all tho have pain perscription filled if needed. Not allowed to put weight on the foot so clumsily wobbling on crutches and am borrowing a knee walker with wheels from someone to help me navigate around the house. See doctor on Thursday.

Keetmom, your smile is adorable. Micmel, cute cake for Chief! Illimae, skipping work for your Vitamin Sea sounds like a smart course of action! The beach is always so restorative.

Minnie~ I have a total texture problem. Chemo has done a job on my Mouth, my poor DH is such an angel and tries to make me everything he can, so I will eat. I am A lucky lucky woman and I thank someone, somehow for giving me the sweetest gift life has to offer. HIM!! Sleep
    Well beaut friend.
Mae~ hi darling. I always wanted to visit Galveston!! Honestly, George Strait is my favorite thing in this world next to DH. I adore him and would love to come to Texas just because he lives there... that beach is lovely and I am happy you blew off work. They don’t deserve you anyway... when is you’re last day?
Divine~. You ok ? Thinking of you, we are here waiting to see how things are going. I know even local things can be extremely painful. We hope you're Comfortable....
DH is here he’s making. One of my favorite deviled eggs. Yummy. I can tell you I will eat that!! My local procedure is the 30th. I just want it over with. Then it will be bridal shower time!!
Magda? How are you feeling sweetheart. 💜
Love to all! Much love ~M~

Divine~ I am very glad everything is ok and you’re doing pretty darn good scootin around. That’s oretty cool. What a neat thing to get around with. Beats crutches for sure. That’s another Set of pain for sure, under arm pain and brusing. Ouch! Please rest up and let your wonderful DH Care for you!! So glad it went well. I am next! July 30th. It’s almost like a deli counter. Take a ticket for the next procedure! Ugh! Rest well my friend. ~M~

Thank you all for your kind words on my smile, am actually trying to put on some makeup here and there to help me feel better.

I am letting Allie use my car hers started doing some scary things, we paid 2300 a year and half ago and have put over 1000 in it.... No more, but it's the reality that I can't drive.

Emma is home and really tired... And wants real food.

Divine-Glad you are feeling well after your surgery.

Minnie-Yes, Londonderry is named after the one in Ireland. I went there about 10 years ago, with my 3 sisters and Mom (Dad was supposed to make the trip with the AOH pipe and drum group, but passed away 2 years before, my youngest sister spread some of his ashes all over), there were 2 buses of us. We stayed two nights each starting in Dublin, Armagh, Londonderry/Derry, and Galway. We stopped in Belfast (scary), Bushmills (got my hubby hooked on Irish whiskey, by bringing a reserve home to him), Giant's Causeway, Newgrange, Connemara (stopped at the marble factory). 10 day trip the end of April. Never rained. Just beautiful. A lot of the towns and cities here are named after English and Irish towns. I live in Manchester, New Hampshire, which is named after Manchester England. Both were mill towns. I believe there is a Hampshire England too. Glad you enjoyed your dinner, sounds lovely!

Mae-How nice to take a trip to where you got married. Glad you had a nice time!

My oncologist set up an appointment for chemo for 2 weeks from now, so at least I will have that much break (on top of the two weeks since my last chemo), it will be nice. We are busy in August though. A wedding the 18th and vacation starting the following Sat (my husband's birthday) through Labor Day. We'll still be in NH, but 1 1/2 hrs from home. I hope whatever treatment I start, will have minimal side effects, so it doesn't ruin either of those.

We had our 3 kids (number 4 is in NY) and 3 grandkids over for a cookout yesterday. It's always great to have them altogether. We try to do it at least every other week (when out son has his daughter, so the cousins can see each other). The grandkids always bring my spirits up too!

    Micmel-Happy Birthday to your grandfurbaby!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Heavy rain tonight into tomorrow. We really need it. Hard to believe with the beautiful day today!

Keetmom~I can imagine she couldn't wait to get Home to her awesome bedroom. they don't say there is no place like home for no reason. It's most likely she would have hopped into bed like a Bunny snuggling into the meadow grass. I hope she had nice weather. I can't believe it's already Almost August like wow. Time fly's. August ugh! Back to school for a lot. Already. Really that sucks ! Oh and there is nothing wrong with your smile. You're beautiful.... yes you are !

Lynne(Man)~ he is the most precious thing. He gets going and knocks you down and you're down. That's why I have be very careful around him. I don't need a broken hip or pelvis. His head is massive and the cake didn't last long at all lol it actually was adorable. He has a wonderful mommy. Are you still going to get your second opinion from that other doctor, before you start the other chemo ? Two weeks is going to come fast. I want them to be sure.. I want you to feel comfortable with your choice. Even though two weeks is going to be fast... don't want you off treatment too long either. There is never an easy answer for any of us is there? Glad you spent time with your family. That always seems to shine through in your posts. So jealous. Mine can't get away fast enough these days. I guess it is their ages. I hope you sleep well. Good night ladies.

    Much love ~M~

My one dog Deeohgee won't even let me pet him, we truly would like to have a dog that realizes he is a dog! Beautiful cat! Feel better and better, looks like splint set up for your foot. How long to stay off of it. ? It over that’s all that matters. Hugs to you ~M~

Divine, I am a huge cat lover and your baby peach is adorable!!! I feel like our fur babies often know when we don’t feel well. I have 3 rescue kitties. One of them never sleeps on the bed but when I had the flu she got in bed with me and only left me to eat and use the litter box. We were astonished at her behavior. She was our newest kitty and my husband said “ she knows who rescued her”! Hope your recovery comes along quickly and with minimal pain. Good morning to all! Will check back in later!!

Bigbhome, You and your DH are in my thoughts today. I hope that the surgery went well yesterday and that the recovery will be much quicker and smoother than it was 18 years ago. I know that being the care giver is difficult and stressfully.don't overdo it. Ask for help if you need it.

Micmel, Your grand dog has gotten big. You have lots to look forward to. When is the shower?

Divine, I am glad that you had an uneventful hospital experience. People make a world of difference. I hope you were as comfortable as your cat looked in that picture. Those knee walkers are amazing . People scoot around on those like they are racing sometimes. I don't know who invented it, but it is a really useful device.

Keetmom, You put me to shame. I never wear makeup anymore. I would probably feel better, too, if I tried a little now and then. I hope Emma is getting some rest and enjoying that real food now that she is home.

Lynne, It is so nice that you can get your entire family together so often. One of my sons lives 3 1/2 miles away and another lives 1 1/2 hours away. All the grandchildren are involved in activities. We have to do some seriousadvanced planning to get everyone here at the same time. I hope you are feeling okay during your little chemo break.

As Lynne predicted, it is raining pretty steadily now. (We live about 5 miles apart.) We can use the moisture, but I wish we could have rain at night and sun during the day. I guess that is a bit too much to expect.

    Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Hi Tanya~ was starting to worry. I am very glad to see your name here. Please rest up and recover.

Same goes for Divine~ you and that adorable kitty

Lynnwood~ all animals have such perception to their owners, it’s amazing actually. My hound dog showed me something amazing like that when I was down in my deep depressing hole. Last week.

Lynne(50’s)~the shower is August 11th and coming rather fastly. Lol. Ugh! But I think it’s going to be nice for her. I spoke to her aunt (my x sister in law ) who will be attending and her and I and another friend from high school will also Be coming.it would be like a small school reunion. Which I never attended nor cared about but going. I think were going to have a lot of fun! Ty for asking !

    Much love to all. ~M~

Devine-I have 2 rescue cats. They are sisters, and were a year old when we got them (they are now 3). I was done with pets after our two cats died a month apart 2 years ago (a mother and son that were 17 and 16). Our youngest was devastated though, so we adopted and these two had to go together. Of course this year, he moves to NY and would have to pay an extra 100.00 a month, for rent, for them to go there. I don't think they'd like the 7 hr drive, nor going from a house to a one bedroom apt, so they are here with my husband and I. Your's is very cute. I'm glad you came out of your surgery well and are now recuping!

Tanya-Glad your surgery went well as well. Hope the healing isn't too long, and the biopsy comes back soon. I hope the pain goes away soon! Hugs!

Lynne-It is nice having our 3 older kids, and 3 grands close by. Only my youngest isn't anymore. He's 7 hours away. We may go see him the weekend he moves to their new apartment, the first weekend in August. I do miss him. He is the sweetest, most caring adult kid I know. Our grands are just starting to get involved in activities. The older two are in scouts and went to camp this year. The youngest will be starting cub scouts next year. Our granddaughter did spring soccer this year, and all will be playing fall soccer. Luckily, our granddaughter is 15 min away, and our grandsons are 1/2 hr away. It's doable. I'm sure we won't make all games, but will make most. Hopefully, they don't have too many overlapping each other.

Bigbhome-I hope all went well with your husband's surgery. I hope you have tons of help! Don't wear yourself out! Hugs!

Micmel-I am going to get the second opinion first before starting chemo. My local oncologist put me in for that day, just to save a slot, in case the Boston dr has the same opinion on which chemo to do. They will be calling Dana Farber for the appointment tomorrow. Hopefully, they will be able to get me in quick (and hopefully, she's not on vacation, as she was the last time). Of course my left sided sciatica is bothering me (ever since I went on the motorcycle ride on Sunday). Shooting pain, all the way down to my ankle. I really do not want to go for a steroid shot. Hopefully, it will just go away! We have a charity ride on Saturday (it's only a a couple hours, but it's an hour to the start point), hopefully it will feel better by then!

The muggies have moved in. It's suppose to be humid with a chance of thunderstorms through Friday. UGH! I guess I'll be hibernating in the a/c for the week.

    Hugs and prayers to all!

    Lynne

lynne(Man) I am very concerned about that leg of yours. I know what kinda pain that is. If you ride again, and that is what irritates it... super ouchie. I’m so annoyed for all of us. When we have our flare ups it just is another reminder of our limitations, even though we don’t to agree or except any of it. Mine used to really get bad, when I would lay on the beach, to the point to where I needed help up and walking back. Just be careful. I know how painful it feels. I’m so very sorry ! Hugs ~M~
