Grannax~I am sending my strength to you and love. I hope those doctors find you a trial that can really make a difference. I love all my peeps! 🌹💙

Kthielen~welcome to our second home, I am sorry you had to find us this way. Mae, who is basically confounder of this thread may be able
To come along and help, she is her 2+ as well
And has had some more experience with the brain area than myself. There is also a thread for brain Mets, the sisters there are loving and welcoming as well. I hope you will find. Comfort in knowing you’re not alone and we are here every single day to hold your hand and show you how each of us battles the beast we have been given. I welcome you with open arms and a beautiful bouquet of flowers 💐 to welcome. Pull up a bar stool and try to relax. Take it one day at a time ! Once again welcome.

Giddy if you look above your box where you actually type in the post you are composing, above it you'll see a smiley face and other markings of alignments and setting shown as pictures only. You want to choose the 4th icon from the right. Once you choose that icon another window will appear and ask you to choose a file. In other words choose your picture. Select the photo and wait for it to show. You must choose “photo library" to select pictures from your phone. Let me know if it makes sense! I am so excited to see her tree. I will send it to her son and daughter. I hope she can see it too. Rosie; I am tearing up at the thought of you sweet sister doing this for our fallen angel! She was a sweet sweet friend. Love to all!

    Ha! I’ve been promoted 😁

Kthielen, I have brain mets, I’ve had 3 occurrences, all small and treated with gamma knife but I did have a Lepto scare last year, so I asked my neuro rads onc many questions about it. The main takeaway from that conversation was hope. My docs at MD Anderson mentioned that they’ve got a few MBC patients who’ve been getting Herceptin via Ommaya for at least 7 years. As micmel mentioned, the other thread is called Brain Mets Sisters (a search should bring it up) and there are a couple of Lepto mets ladies there for more specifics. Welcome!

Hello to everyone else. Today we ran errands and I went to the gym, currently I’m in first place in two workweek step challenges, I might win one. This weeks goal is kicking ass 😀

Let me tell you the story of my Cycle 2, Day1. Will the drama never end, will the unexpected never stop?

It was an early, 7:30, appointment. I decided to take myself this time, it will be easy. I'm a morning person, I can do this. Everything went great, I was energetic breezed right through the labs and seeing my MO. She agreed to remove all pre meds, since I had done so well on the last infusion. We also discussed the lower back pain I have 2 days after infusion. She said it's the Gemzar causing the pain, muscle pain. But it was localized to that one area. That's very rare, I said I do rare all the time. In fact we discussed the fact that I'm a Zebra, always doing, reacting in the tiny 1% of what other patients do. She said we need to tattoo a Z on your forehead.

Back to the infusion floor I go, expecting things to go smoothly. But, no that didn't happen. Once again we had to have yet and discussion about the pre meds. Evidently, my MO didn't put it in the computer. Then they had to do a type and cross lab work so that I can have a unit of blood because my anemia is getting worse. Why they couldn't do it on Tuesday, I don't know. I'm waiting on a call for that appointment.

Finally, they started the Gemzar. Much later than it should have been started. I started getting so sleepy I couldn't get my eyes open. It felt like I had been given 3 sleeping pills. How am I going to drive myself home? Panic set in as I tried to call someone to come and get me. Just at that moment, my texts started to say unable to deliver, message failed. No one received my SOS texts! And cell calls do not work at all on that floor. No service. My foggy brain never thought to ask to use the land line I saw on the wall and the nurses did not offer it.

For the first time ever I had to get Uber to take me home. The nurse went downstairs with me to put the app on my phone. Phones work on the first floor. He came and I got in the car with a complete stranger. It worked out fine and I got home safe and sound.

Later I read info about Gemzar, it's what caused the sudden sleepiness. Lesson learned, I will always have a driver to go to chemo. I will ask to use the land line, my friends were in a complete panic trying to figure out what was happening.

Long post, but so bizarre I just had to tell you about it.💞

Grannax~sweet woman. You really are having a rough time of it lately.. I am so sorry you had to feel that way alone. 🥵. I wish so much we could just be here for each other the way only we can understand. I hope once you ubered home you were comfortable and could finally relax and decompress. Sounds way too stressful for me! for us all. Holding your hand as I slip you a Valium ! Much loved my sister!

Grannax- i get those feelings so well. I’m so glad you were able to get home tho. It’s scary when the dominos fall when we want/need things to go smoothly.

I’m still smiling a bit from Gumdoctor’s story of getting hit on, love it. I enjoyed the story a poster shared too about seeing a practically bare butt at the grocery store. I need to smile and laugh these days it’s good therapy for me.

For puppy lovers here’s my boy Milo as a puppy and then all grown up, he’ll be 11 in dec, he’s a cancer survivor of 2 years, had gotten a mast cell tumor on a toe on one of his front paws, off went the toe and he’s been fine ever since.

Rabbit~ That is a perfect little puppy!!! 🐾🐾 I don't ever want them to grow up! Deeohgee howls like crazy sometimes and doesn't like the UPS truck. He barks every time it comes into the neighborhood. It's kinda funny unless you're napping. That precious angel looks like he's a snuggler. More more more !! Puppy pics lol

micmel, oh he’s a snuggler alright, when he was a puppy he wanted me to wear him like a necklace, all grown up and 50lbs he still thinks that’s possible.

Any kitten lovers? My puppy is all grown up, but I do currently have a kitten!

    Hello ladies.

Grannax- Oh my. I too wouldn't have thought about potential issues with going alone since you were not having premeds. Glad you got home safe.

Radagast- I am an animal person, but more of a cat lady. Your doggie, Milo, is very cute and I am sure a good companion to you. Your baby kitty is sooo cute. I love my cat. He is my best friend. I pray that I will outlive him as he will not understand if I go first. He is 9 years old.

I am hoping for a better day today. Yesterday was one of those days for me. Mentally. Cried a lot. Need to get in a better place today.

    Hugs.

It sure has been a long time.......but here I am soldiering on like all of us. It has been a super busy summer for me. I have felt quite fatigued, but have managed to do most things. I've had relatives visiting, which has been a blast! My grandson had hernia surgery on the 12th, from which he is fully recovered. There are a lot of projects going on at my house as well.

I had a PET on the 15th, which showed stability in bones, adrenals, spleen, lymph nodes, but slight progression in liver. No real surprise there. I had had six rounds of Doxil, which was so tolerable and only once per month. So yesterday, I was caught a little off guard when I had my first weekly Taxol infusion. When I went to my appointment, I said to the PORT nurse, " I have had a little progression, are you sure I am being infused today?". Oh yes, she said, we discussed you at morning meeting. So here we go with the port, which took two sticks. MO comes in and we discuss the possible switch to Taxol. Hasn't been run through insurance process yet. I asked "So will I be getting one more Doxil today?". Well, no. He must have seen me roll my eyes as I peeled back my blouse and revealed that the port had been accessed. He said, how about Taxol tomorrow? Then he said, OK let me make this right-wait a minute. He goes to pharmacy and asks if they can push it through the insurance mill and they say yes. He comes back and says we'll give your premeds and have you wait a little before we start Taxol. Let's do the consent. He's so great, and everyone in the office will do anything for him. The flip side is that I am pretty much guaranteed to have at least a two hour melt down when I learn about switching up treatment. I hate being weepy in public places, even if the Onco nurses are the best. I got through it, but was exhausted when I got home. I probably shouldn't have driven myself home, either Grannax, as the Benadryl made me particularly drowsy. I arrived home to a houseful of people, said my how-do-you-dos, made a sandwich, went upstairs and crashed for five hours. My sister came up in a while and said "do you need anything at all?". She got me a blanket and a drink and I just burst into tears, because I don' t really ever get pampered here unless I do it for myself. My family will do anything I ask, but it's different when some says "are you comfy, dear?". My sister also laid out everything for dinner- a lasagna I had had the presence of mind to make ahead.

So yeah, the cancer battle continues for me as it does for all of us. A surreal existence of worrying, wondering, grieving, trying to live in the moment and feel joy, trying to keep ones body feeling decent. I have really felt quite overwhelmed at times lately. And so sad and panicky about leaving my family at some unknown point in the future. It just stinks.

I have read that many are having hard transitions and I hope the force is with you during these. I think of everyone often. It is sad news to hear of Gracie transitioning; i hope it was peaceful. it's awful, but I have come to expect the losses.... just so unfair

My love to all, Mary Jane

    Good afternoon ladies,

Welcome Kthlielen I had no idea about leptomenigeal but I'm happy that Mae was able to share her experiences with you. It always feels better when you can find someone who's sharing a similar experience.

Micmel you had to mention mouth sores now I have them with a vengeance. What did you do for yours?

Rosie thanks for the tree. Looking forward to seeing a picture of it.

Mae congratulations on being the step winner in your gym. I have been trying to get back to the gym for over two years but just don't have the energy.

Grannax I hope the SE's aren't too bad after your treatment yesterday. I started using Uber before I was sick. I was putting my clients in ubers so I felt that if it was good enough for them I could use it too. I met some hardworking drivers trying to make a living. My choice would be my own car but it beats a bus.

Rabbit cute puppies and kitten. I love when cats and dogs get along.

MJHJAN your grandson is beautiful. Nice birthday cake. I've been watching the little league playoffs with DH this week. These players are amazing and they're having fun.

Good day all. Wild PET scan yesterday with an Orange Alert in the hospital, including Amber strobe lights for the entire experience. Gave me such a headache. Turned out there was a chemical spill in the OR down the hall, requiring a Hazmat response and multiple fire trucks.

Hope to get the results before I move--Movers come in a week, then off for the long cross country drive.

Great pictures! Hugs to everyone struggling. Happy dance for all who are stable.

    Cheers!

Rabbit~Love love kittens and cats. Took 21 to figure out I was allergic. But I loved my cats growing up! One was black and he was named lucky. He used to say “Hiiii" he was so special. Never had another. Cat even close to him. Kinda like our love of our lives, there is only One.

Candy~Nexttime you're in your bed crying the ugly cry. Picture me in my bed doing the same thing. It happened today. Shit just plain sucks sometimes when it creeps up and just grips you. You loose control, your mind dumps its poisonous thoughts and we compose and go on. You're not alone. No you're not! 🥺💗

MJH!!!!!!!!!😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😁😁😁😢❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹💞💞💞 Hello sweet sweet sister. I am so happy to see your wonderful pictures and seeing your name here, it has been a loooong time, I was always role calling as Mae would put it. Lol wondering how that amazing grandson of yours was doing and now he's ten and handsome as ever. High five for the baseball win, I played softball in my youth.... loved it. Seeing that brings back such happy memories for me. I knew you were out living life. Now I have proof. I am beyond thrilled to see you here. Welcome home sweet friend.😁😄🥰. Much love~M~

    Mara~Waving hello sweetheart 😄🥰!

Tanya~ I did use yogurt and bought Biotine mouthwash. I used it every time I went into the bathroom. It helped a lot. I keep it on hand from now on.

Movingsoccermom~I am so glad you’re ok. That you weren’t harmed.. goodness gracious the things we see. I hope your move goes quick and smooth. I admire you, I don’t know what I would do. Overwhelming thought for me. Ugh! Maybe it’s just I have been feeling weak and tired. Round #35! for ibrance and it’s kicking my ass. I need a couple months break. I’m going to beg! I need it bad

I was away for a few days but kept up on the reading here. Love the photos of the birthday cake, baseball boy, kitty, dogs....

I'm sending a round of thank yous to everyone for the well wishes, prayers and positive vibes for dh to get his new job. And he got it! I have no doubt your collective energy sent for all good things to happen helped put dh over the top to get hired for the right next job! He starts on Tuesday.

It is as a maintenance technician and he is really the perfect guy for the job. He's an excellent handy man, the type to watch a YouTube video on how to change the motor in a washing machine, then order the part and fix ours.

He's been home the last 4 months since he took early retirement from the last job. Ladies, I love him but I'm not gonna lie. It drove me crazy having him around all day every day! His new job is good for my sanity!

I truly appreciate all of you. ❤️

Congrats to both you and your DH on the new job.

Mel, waving back at you too.

Had a good day today overall which is always appreciated. Weather cooling down a bit, got out and enjoyed it. Did some laundry and actually went for a LONG walk after supper on the treadmill. My BP has been a little hgher lately and want to nip it in the bud. Decided to cut back on added sugar and have smaller pieces of cake instead of the size I usually take. Don't want a heart attack or stroke, that helped me stay on. I do workout but always preferred shorter bursts. Going to have to incorporate some post meal walks and stop putting sugar on my cereal. Smaller desserts and the longer walks should help bring it down. Don't need a bum heart or stroke since I am already on cardiotoxic drugs. My heart has always been strong, don't want to tempt fate. We'll see how it goes.

crap I just got off the phone with my lifetime bff. She has stage 0 breast cancer. We don’t have any pathology report info, but according to the internet and this website, this stage is often treated with mastectomy and/or other meds/radiation.

I am numb. My heart breaks for her that she is entering this damn club cr

I am so sorry to hear about your friend LoveFromPhilly.

I know stage 0 is very early stage but it still has major implications for the person involved. All the best to you, your friend and family in this difficult time.

I have to start by saying I think it was Giddyup that planted the tree in Gracie’'s memory, not me. It was a wonderful and thoughtful idea, and I want her to be given the credit.

My long road trip is almost over. We've seen some beautiful scenery and had some nice times visiting with family in CA and CO. Home on Saturday, yay 😀I did maybe break a rule I didn't know about. I drank a lot of wine on a tasting tour in Napa Valley. It has never come up with my MO since I'm a minimal drinker normally. I later saw that some have orders of one drink a week only. I think it's to protect those of us with liver involvement??

Hi to everyone! MJH, great pics! Divine, fantastic news about the job for DH. Philly, sorry to hear about your friend's news. Stage 0 sounds hopeful though? Grannax, good thing you had a helpful nurse to connect you with Uber. I have never used it and in a groggy state I'd def need help. Hope you're doing ok? Soccer mom, wow! Glad your PET was able to be done with all the craziness in the hospital. Good luck with your move. Mel, Hi to you, friend!

The tree is in Gracie's memory, Rosie.

ABeautifulSunset is still active on BCO, having checked in today.

Thought it was important to clarify.

If was my mistake when I was answering her question about posting it, I was distracted getting my results back from my Blood work. And yes the Tree was suggested by Giddy up in GracieM2007's name. Sometimes my chemo brain hits a blip. Been so down in the dumps mentally since my dad passing and adding Gracie to that didn't help one bit.

Divine ~ a super ALRIGHT!!!!for your news about the job. I had a good feeling about it. So happy for you too and your time alone. I know we need our focus time. Even if it's just sitting alone. 🥂 🍻 to your sweet DH!!

Shetland ~Hello special lady.~Thank you Shetland. I know she’s having her own struggles enough. I check in with her weekly. I know we have our own dance, we just don’t know the song!

Philly~🥺 I am sorry to hear about your bff. It isa really hard thing to hear. I had a scare earlier with my second BFF this past winter. It's nothing short of feeling like. The wind has been knocked right out of you as you gasp for air. I am glad it was caught early. So glad. But that doesn't change the heartbreak. That comes along with hearing those dreaded words. We all know them. Effin cancer.
