Just catching up. I hope I didn’t miss anyone.
Booboo,
I’ll sign up for pocket duty tomorrow too. I’ll bring M&Ms.
Micmel, Rabbit, and Moomola. Sorry you are going through a rough patch. Micmel, will they let you take a break since it has been so long?
Moomala,
I love your story about the checker saying if people ate more vegetables there would be less cancer. If only it were that simple.
Candy, glad to hear you got out of the house and are feeling better.
Grannax,
Glad to hear the transfusion gave you a burst of energy.
Santa,
That is so neat what you are doing to help your friend. I’m sure she appreciates the help as much as you enjoy spending time with her children.
We stopped at Monument Valley yesterday, Arches National Park today. It was so amazing. Here is a pic of me and my DH at Arches. We’ll head to Estes Park tomorrow to meet up with my siblings. I can’t wait to see them.

Micmel I too have a summer cold right now!

Grannax~Thank you very much. So glad she's doing well on her tx. I know she was worried. How are you my lady? How's the grand kiddos?
Waving hello hello to Simone 🥰 absolutely loving that photo. I love mountains. They stun me. They remind me how small I am. They are marvelous sights. At least I was blessed enough to get to Colorado Springs, & Hawaii! Bermudan Cruise 🚢! But damn it I want more. I have been thinking about train travel! I think that I could really really do! I had surgery to replace my breast and I went off ibrance for two months and he was fine with it so I'm doing it! Quality of life is important! I won't takw a long break don't want to tempt anything. What idlove him to say is “ okay scan every year and blood work every three months to catch any trends or warnings, and of course if I should feel any pain or differences of course" but I guess I'm dreaming, I am just so done with playing the side effect game It gets so old!!
Santa~I feel so much better knowing that i am not alone in the summer cold barrel! Gee ma Christmas sakes! I already feel crappy enough. Sure pile more crap on.
I hope you feel better. It's an icky one!

I was starting to get a cold before my Herceptin this week but because I was taking Claritin to prevent some of the SE's and advil, it is mostly gone. I also take buckleys which is the worst tasting stuff but it works. Tastes to me like camphor and menthol yuck.
Mel, I am sorry you have to feel so crappy. Hope it improves soon.
Had a really nice visit with my cousins that I have not seen for a long time. Unfortunately, I had to tell them about my cancer. I had not shared that information. Got the same oh you look good but that did not bother me this time. They also kept telling me how much I look like my mother too. I appreciated that because I always thought she was quite attractive. Hopefully we will get together again next year.

Gumdoctor. Sorry I got your TX wrong. Why is your MO withholding the Carbo?💞

Simone what a gorgeous picture! I really loved the smiles and what a beautiful place! I have it in my head that my compression fractures are going to stabilize and then I can go do a little traveling. On another thread a very kind woman said it takes awhile but it can happen! Micmel I also have a train trip on my mind - The Rocky Mountaineer. It is expensive as hell but it looks SO amazing! I'd also love to do a National Parks trip at some point. At this point I'm doing my three mile walks each day and today I go up to four miles. Last week I did a five mile hike. I live near the Finger Lakes region in NYS and we have incredible waterfall and gorge hiking here. But the stairs on a lot of these hikes can have very high risers. Last week's hike I did about a hundred stairs and some of the risers were way too much for me I know. I have to work pretty hard to minimize any impact especially on the way down the steps. Not to mention that I'm a little slower on a hike becuase I'm trying to enjoy my surroundings while keeping an eye on terrain so I don't fall. Hopefully this won't last forever but I had a lot of back pain after that hike. It's been a week and I'm just now starting to feel better. I am refusing to give up but I'm also trying to be mindful of what I can and cannot(should not) do. I love my hiking but the object here is to get my back to a place where I can travel without fear of a major pain event.
Had a great weekend reading and playing piano and staying off Facebook for the most part. I limited myself to two visits. Instead I managed to play the piano, bake my son some GF cookies and have some nice family visits and read! Social media can be so addicting especially if you are feeling down and just want to escape!
It's another sunny day in NY! The market was peachy yesterday and I mean that in a peach sort of way. I have a giant bowl of them here. We also bought beets, chard, onions, tomatoes, kale, carrots and salad greens. I also bought celery and the friend who was with me said that you can dehydrate the leafy ends of celery and use this as a seasoning. I had NO idea you could do that! I don't have a dehydrator but she gave me some alternate instructions and I plan to try this!
In pockets today! Love you ladies!

Grannax - She is still very worried about neuropathy. She said Carbo can contribute to neuropathy to a lesser extent than Abraxane. I find out today if she is going to let me have it today or withhold again. Will get abraxane with or without Carbo.
In waiting room waiting to be called back for port access...

Looks like a few of us need people in their pockets. Count me in everyone's pocket who needs it.
Short night of sleep last night. My toilet decided to clog at 2:00am after a BM. This would not have been such an issue if there had been a toilet plunger available. Of course, I lost mine in the move and kept meaning to replace it but had not gotten around to it. I do have a pneumatic air tool that is supposed to move water but it was proving to be too messy and no match for the obstruction. Was not going to phone a plumber so I wound up having to bail it out by hand to send it down another sink. Yuck!!!! Needless to say, I threw out bailing tools, sterilzed the whole area and hoofed it to a hardware store early this morning. Got a plunger AND an auger. Toilet is working. It was a long walk so I fell asleep once I fixed the toilet.

You guys are SO awesome. I was in the scanner thinking about popcorn and all of the other yummy things you all said. It's weird, but having that in my head...knowing my sister's are in my pocket...it just changes my anxiety levels. I HATE going into those machines. I have to work hard not to hyperventilate. I had to stop one scan before we even started once. Just couldn't do it. So thank you all for getting me through it today.
Simone, you and your hubby are so cute! I have serious respect for you that you can do those hikes. My back is just too riddled with bone melts to allow me to do anything like that. Even walking is hard most days. Enjoy your time. It looks like awesome scenery!
Thanks again to you all.
Much love...

Mara, I have to say I LOL when I read your toilet post. I have blocked many toilets since my Stage IV two years ago, mainly due to opioids. It was initially embarrassing but like you, I have had to deal with it late in the night too. We now have 3 different plungers and when I stay overnight with friends I check for plungers if it looks at all possible. I even plugged a hospice toilet last time I was here. Chemo helps now with the opposite haha.
Simone, I want to go there if ever a chance. My daughter went a few years ago and I loved her photos too.
Minnie, I love to see you here.
Santabarbara, I get to do what you are doing, not having grandchildren either. We have looked after Edie, now 4 since we moved to Victoria 2 years ago though not as often lately with my issues. But we visited recently and just hung out wit the family who now have 1 year old twins too. They all came to a surprise belated 70th birthday party Friday night along with my daughter's best friend, husband and 3 week old baby.
Some of you now I have been in hospice for 2 weeks for pain management and had surgery a week ago today. The trial intrathecal catheter insertion with the external pump went well and the second surgery is set for September 9th and that will be the same except the pump will be embedded in my abdomen. So far really going well with much pain diminished. The biggest concern last week was withdrawal as I had ben on so many opioids but did not happen. I was mostly on bedrest last week as there were a couple of IV tension leaks now fixed. So getting a pass Friday was last minute with 35 people not knowing if I would make it for the surprise party. Many friends came on the ferry, two on a seaplane from Vancouver and even a friend from Seattle. What a surprise and me in a nightgown and robe with an IV and pump. My newly graduated RN son who flew in from the north got instructions for the IV and was given my injectable med too. I will add a family photo. I can't go home because of the pump and med changes but I can get passes.
My daughter and partner next to me, my husband and at the back right my RN son, my older son and his partner.
Micmel thank you for this thread along with everyone here.

Marianelizabeth, I'm glad everything is going as it should. What a surprise for your birthday!! Belated wishes from me. It's good to see You here too. All well with me, usual problem with the hip, however our really hot spell is over for, this year, so feeling I can do things again. The heat was so tiring. Some friends coming to visit soon, and a trip to look forward to after that. Happy days!
Love to everyone x

What a wonderful photo marianelizabeth and may I also wish you belated birthday wishes. I am glad things are going the way they are supposed to. As far as the nightgown, the people gathered would not care what you wore. They would think you are very special indeed.
FYI, I have received visitors in various states of undress myself and I would feel self conscious until I realized they did not care about how I looked. I usually got visitors when I was not dressed or in my wig too. It's like when you go out and you didn't put makeup or do your hair and you inevitably run into someone you used to go out with.

Marianne, what an awesome photo and what a lovely family you have. Congrats to your son on getting his RN degree. You look beautiful in your nightie and robe! What a wonderful surprise, with people traveling a ways to celebrate with you. Happy 70th!
Simone, I love the photo of you and your dh at Arches!

Hi everyone!
Micmel,
Taking a train ride sounds fun. Any idea where you want to go?
Mara,
So glad you got to visit with your cousins. Most people have no idea that it drives us crazy when they say" you look so good" after telling them you have cancer.
Gum doctor,
Sorry I was late for pocket duty. I hope everything went ok today.
Moomala,
I love to hike. It's been way to hot at home. I am looking forward to hiking a lot in Estes Park. I was lucky I only had 3 small spots on my bones. Ibrance took care of those and they are now resolved.
Muddling through, I'll sign up for pocket duty. I'll bring Cheetos.
Booboo,
I'm glad your scan went well. Hoping for good results.
Marian,
What a beautiful family
I didn't take too many pics today. It was mostly a driving day. We drove on highway 70 which is right next to the Colorado river. It was a beautiful drive. My D.H. pulled over so I could get a couple of pics.

Hi all. Just popping in to say howdy. Catching up on posts---great that this Thread is so active. Pocket duty here also for those that need it. Not much going on here. Quite a bit of pain yesterday and today--rheumatoid arthritis issue??? Shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hips. Using Tylenol Arthritis--not much help. Otherwise no new news. Just read on thread that A Beautiful Sunset is not doing well. Prayers for her. Prayers for us all.

Simone,
I just love the pics! I'm a mountain lover even though I live very close to the Gulf of Mexico. The mountains are where my spirit is most alive. Enjoy your trip.
Marian, I echo what the others have said. What a great looking crew. And you are cute as a button (whatever that means...my Mother used to say things like that!). Happy happy Bday!
Grannax, I want whatever you are getting...I am SO tired lately...would love some energy!
Tanya, felt your love today. Thank you.
Rosie, thank you too for being in my pocket today. And Mae with the popcorn!
Philly, I thought you were going to bring the cheesesteaks! Oh, how I miss them! But choc. crossisants and ice cream sound pretty good too!
Hope you all have a good night! My love to all.

I had a bit of a bad day today too candy-678. I'm sorry you weren't feeling well either. I don't think mine is the bone mets. I think it's these compression fractures that have not quite stabilized. I walked four miles this morning and then did my PT exercises but seriously compression fractures are no joke. I have three of them - C7, T11 and L4. So I got a nice little triple whammy in all parts of the back. On top of letrozole aches - ugh. Right now my low back is hurting and my legs and hips are aching. I hit a wall this afternoon, had my first ever adult meltdown and put myself to bed at 4:30. It was so good to lie down. Compression fractures are often relieved with lying down.
I don't think I realized you had RA. I have arthritis so how much of this is related is a question. So many days I can just ignore it and keep myself going but today was not one of those days. Yucko.
Mariane I love love love your family picture. What a fantastic looking group of people! Happy 70th!
Beautiful pics Simone! Colorado looks so gorgeous. I hope to see it someday! I have family there so it'd be great to visit them there!
Still in your pockets! I hope it's okay if I bring ice cream. I don't do dairy but over the weekend I discovered So Delicious Mocha Almond Fudge made with almond milk and I've eaten the entire container BUT I'll stop at the grocery on my way over and pick up a new container becuase you are all going to LOVE IT!

Good Morning.
Thank you to all who did pocket duty for me yesterday. We sure did have alot of yummy treats...private room was full of virtual supporters.
It went fine. Liver damage improving. MO still held Carboplatin so had Abraxane (90% dose) and Xgeva only. Neurooathy slightly worse but still functioning alright. And it is increasing much more slowly than at 100% Abraxane.
Chest/ab CT, full body bone scan and liver MRI in 3 weeks to see what effect tx is having. Anxiously awaiting feedback on where things stand.
Thank you all for being here for me.

Morning all.
Moomala- Sorry you are having so much pain from the compression fractures. What are you using for the pain? I know people - not cancer patients per se - use a back brace for some compression fractures in the mid-to-lower back. For stabilization and pain control when they are up and moving around. Has your doc offered a brace? I think we have the right to lie down during the day. I know I want to stay up and moving, but thinking about it, would the world crumble if we say pooh and go lie down for a bit or go to bed early of an evening.
I was diagnosed with RA in 2014. I was put on hydroxychloroquine. But we stopped the med when I was diagnosed with BC and started chemo. Now the rheumy doesn't want to restart. ? And other meds used for RA are contraindicated with my treatment now. So I am not being treated for RA right now. With the AI use, the bone mets, and the RA I have a lot of pain, all the time. But Sunday was worse than usual. Better now. I have some tramadol pills left from a year ago script, and I have them as a crutch. In case things get too bad. But none of my docs-rheumy or MO-offer anything other than OTC Tylenol Arthritis. I guess because of the opioid crisis. Wouldn't want to risk me getting hooked. Hahahaha.
Gumdoctor- Happy that the liver damage is getting some better. Thank the Lord. I will definitely be praying for the scans in a few weeks.
