Randy is a little piggy and there is electric sex all over the neighbourhood! Oh, a ducks getting its head chopped off while Ralphie utters a slow Fuuuuddddgggg. Today as I did battle with the furnace I remembered the dad as he uttered the (what sounded like) Nottafinga! I'm dying here!

Runor— “He looks like a deranged Easter bunny”. Love that pink furry bunny costume.

At one point in time, we called our neighbors the Bumpuses cause the name just seemed to fit and we would joke on Thanksgiving to make sure their hounds did not steal our turkey.

    Such a fun movie.

Triple dog dared? I’m sunk! teacher says to class, while looking at the empty seat in class after recess.
“class has anyone seen Flick? Class, class?????”

As his tongue is stuck to the flag pole! I triple dog dared you!

Now I will have to watch that movie this evening. Those were good memories seeing it at the theatre as a kid.

Looking forward to my movie today. Also was up early so managed to put some insulation in my bedroom window. I am leaving the air conditioner in this winter and just had to add some foam insulation to the top and grills as well as the side panels. Should block out the really cold air in the winter. Feel good today. Going to walk for half an hour as well and UBER to the theatre.

Hope everyone else has a good day and in the pockets of anyone who needs it.

    mara51506– enjoy your movie today!

I think you get more done in any given day than I even think about doing. Love your attitude. Keep going girl!!

I brought coffee, tea, and fresh French pastries to Micmel’s living room this morning. Dropped them off on my way to see RO.

Between medical appointments and 10 hour work days, I am worn out.

I got the walking done. Used a yoga mat and walked on the spot. Nothing vigorous. Did a small load of laundry. I think I am addicted to laundry because of the smell in m y apartment. Have to go get dressed now for the movie.

Dodgers Girl, I don't have a job, forced to retire in 2016 thanks to the brain me. I have a lot of free time so it is easy for me to get stuff done. I think people who are working, taking care of families etc are amazing. Not to belittle myself being on my own BUT overall I still have a lot of time to sit around on my butt using the computer, playing GTA 5 or watching movies. I don't always go out simply because I don't need to spend a lot of extra money. I am happy I can do what I do myself. I could not imagine balancing a lot of medical appointments and working 10 hours anymore. My hat is off to you.

Having said that, I have sampled the tea and pastries you left and they were very good. Have a good day everyone. Hope anyone still sick is feeling better and resting up for holidays.

Dodgersgirl & Mara, I agree that medical appointments plus full time work has to be really tough, not to mention the stress that goes with our dx. Mara, it sounds like you've adjusted to being retired even though it wasn't your choice? DG, sending you a boost of energy. Do you get some extra time off during the holidays? I retired about a year and a half before being diagnosed. Not the retirement I'd imagined, but we get what we get (or “it is what it is“ which is about the same but my DH bristles at that one).

Micmel & Runor, Lol on the Christmas Story lines! I used to teach 4th grade and some of my students loved the fra-gee-lay line and said it whenever they could get it in a conversation. My own kids were fans of Home Alone and those lines got a lot of mileage in my house. Keep the change you filthy animal!

We watched the newest version of A Christmas Carol last night (starring Guy Pearce). It was dark of course, and even more scary when the spirits came. Some added story lines to make Scrooge even meaner and the movie definitely not for kids. It was never one of my favorites but this one kept me pretty much glued to the tv, surprisingly.

    Hi to everyone!

Oh, this is cracking me up. Fraahh Geee Laaayy, we also say it every time we see it stamped on an envelope or something. I mean, how can you not?

Also can't un-see many scenes with Chevy Chase in Christmas Holiday. His redneck cousin wearing a short housecoat, a fighter pilot cap and pumping sewage down the city drain. Yup. Burned into my mind.

Rosie24– I am taking a couple of vacation days Christmas week. I had put in for them prior to Stage 4 diagnosis. Right now I am looking forward to them, for sure!

I am just popping in to wish everyone a happy holiday season. Enjoy every experience. I hope you have time to relax in spite of all the stress and activities associated with the preparations. Your trees are all different and all so lovely.

I hope that the new year brings each of you good news, warm memories, newadventures, and many smiles.

Hugs and love to all, from Lynne

Rosie, yes I am adjusted to being retired right now. If I keep doing well, I may have to adjust that as disability is not a big paycheck. Money from my condo sale earlier this year help pad my small income. If it came down to it, I would certainly go back to work but my MO is not yet recommending it and I do not feel compelled. Not even sure what I would do now. Would not be able to return to customer service over the phone, that is WAY to stressful to consider now. I could see being a cashier somewhere but that is about it.

On another note, I did see Rise of Skywalker. It was a really good movie and my favourite out of the sequel trilogy. I will probably see it multiple times. The popcorn and sour skittles were good too.

    Hellooooooo all!

Big busy day today because I got to hang out with my three Best (Work) Guy Friends at our 2nd Annual Christmas Pie n Pint meet up. Last year we did it near work where there are lots of cool pubs in back alleys, but this year they suggested coming over by me so I wouldn't have to cancel. Went to my local and hung out for almost five hours chatting. I hadn't seen 'work husband' in two and a half months - was so nice to catch up in person and not just typing through the chat funx like usual, and our retired friend made the trek across town. The last time they had seen me in the office I could barely move my right leg and both said I was moving far better even with crutches, so that made me feel good. I even had two half-pints of Guinness (separated by a pint of water) and no problems.

That on top of yesterday's events and moving around means I'm pretty tired tonight and will head to bed shortly. Poor pelvis and hips really got worked last two days.

Santab and Frisky - I did a melatonin last night and it was like instant relaxation at 20 mins (was ready for it!). Will do again tonight and see if it keeps me asleep. Its usually the cats waking me up, however - see below.

Mara - Glad to hear the movie was good - we hope to go maybe next week, or possibly the 30th. Last time we saw it in Imax at the Science Museum but I can't face the journey (and crowds. and tight seating) and frankly I don't care if its in GIANT or not. We have some good theatre options near us, although one is juuussstt a bit too close to the damn hospital.

Does anyone have tips to get a large adult male cat to not sleep on their head? We can't shut the door because someone starts headbutting, and we had motion-detection air can and well, they figured out if they walk past it enough it wakes us up and the door opens. And don't get me started on the super smart girl cat who figured out the likelihood of the door being shut = high if the can is out the night before and therefore hides under the bed so she is IN the room before the door is shut, but we can't see her. Its seriously like living with Alien(s).

I will try and take a photo tomorrow of the Major Award (our tree) sitting in our living room window, potentially with cats included.

Hello all. Sorry for the sicknesses going around- Boo and Moomala. Get well soon.

Just regular stuff here-- volunteer church secretary thing and keeping house. I was covering for the secretary while she recouped from surgery, but now she is recouping from a blood clot also. And she is in her 80's, so I don't know if she will be coming back to her roll as church secretary. So..... who knows what 2020 will look like. The church board is to make some decisions in January on what direction the church wants to go with the position. I get tired so easily anymore. It tires me out being responsible for being there every weekday morning. Maybe 3 days a week instead?? We will see. Otherwise, house upkeep, groceries, doc appts, etc to fill my days. Sure don't miss working.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is my niece's 13th birthday party. I am going to that. And Sunday morning is church Christmas program. But quiet plans for Christmas Day---small family, so not too festive. I am wearing a mask when around the crowds with all the sicknesses going around now. I pray I stay healthy.

No tree pics from me---my cat will not allow a tree. He would have it torn down in a hot second.

    Hugs to all.

Candy a mask is a really really good precaution. Based on the ER waiting room last week there is indeed a ton of stuff going around. I wonder if the church job just very part-time would be good for you. I would have a really hard time not working. I've been resting all week and I'm losing my mind and feel useless after just a week.

I have NO cat experience Sondra. I'm allergic so I do not have this very interesting problems you've got. We don't go out much - I loved hearing about your outing!

Did anyone remember to quote "You'll shoot your eye out!" ???

Today i finished watching the current season of The Crown. Tomorrow I'll start a new binge. Not quite sure what yet. I napped today too. I don't recognize my life. I am energizer bunny making sure magic happens for everyone, like my family and my students at Christmas. This is rather enjoyable and much less expensive.

    BooBoo how're you feeling today???

    Moomala,

Oddly enough, I feel worse today. I am still blowing my nose like crazy, and today had a slight fever. I’ll stick it out for a couple more days, and then I’ll go back to see the doctor. Good thing I’m not on any chemo right now. I doubt I could take anything the way I feel. How about you? I think this can take quite awhile to get over, right? I’m so ready to get out of the house!

I’ve been watching the last season of “The Man in the High Castle”. Almost done. Just finished the Crown. It was really good. I did not expect that anyone could pick up where Claire Foy left off, but I was pleasantly surprised. Hope you are feeling better

Moomala- Today I went to 2 stores--the first one I wasn't wearing a mask and I heard a child coughing a loose icky cough and heard him say "my throat hurts". "Great" I thought. So out came the mask (I had one in my purse). Yes, I think the church thing will be good, if we can get it to 3 days a week. Mon, Wed, Fri maybe. It is 8:30-12 and not strenuous. But enough to keep me occupied and responsible knowing that I need to be there.

BooBoo if this helps any my nose stuff and body aches cleared up in about 24 hours on Azithromycin (Z-pack) I think you said you are on doxycycline which is what my PCP said he'd rather have me on if my fever comes back. So far so good. i am a little perplexed at the difference in my hospital discharge notes and my PCP's caution. The hospital said "Activity as tolerated". They also said to take if easy for a few days. My PCP said I can do chores and things around the house but I am to go nooooowhere for at least a week. And no Christmas parties and stay quiet and away from people over the holiday. He said to expect a four-week recovery and just because I might 'think' I feel better, I'm not. He was definitely a little more serious than the hospital was! I'm glad you aren't on treatment right now too but it has not been that long since the Piqray so you should probably consider that a factor. I am doing okay, my appetite is normal now and I'm pushing fluids. My cough is still a dry cough. This had me concerned, but I read over at Dr Google that you can absolutely have a dry cough with certain types of pneumonia. We are supposed to call the oncologist if our fever goes to 100.5 so if you are getting fever while on antibiotics I would definitely call the doctor. But you've been x-rayed and thoroughly checked out by the doc so I would just call in a day or two if you keep getting fever. I had horrendous drenching sweating in the hospital. Pneumonia's a wierd bug that is for sure! Yours is acting just exactly the way mine did. Feeing just sick/tired/yuck for a few weeks and then fever/very sick/headaches/bodyaches. Have you had pneumonia shot? I had Prevnar13 but my PCP explained that the vaccine is just "helpful" in our situation. The Prevnar commercial does say that if youre immunocompromised, you can still get pneumonia if you've gotten the vaccine.

Candy I am getting used to wearing a mask when I go out. I had to go in for some blood work yesterday and I wore a mask with a scarf over it because it was like 12 degrees out when we went there. People in Japan do - so why not? If I hadn't gotten pneumonia I might not but this little bout has convinced me for the rest of the winter it's mask central for this girl. When I was in the hospital every single med professional wore a mask around me so clearly they take precautions too. I am a teacher so my PCP would like me wearing a mask while I'm teaching but no. So then he said to stay at least ten feet away from the students.

The Crown was really good. We finished Schitt's Creek tonight. Love love LOVE that series! I don't know what's next.

Candy the job's hours sound perfect! Getting up and outta the house always lifts my mood.

You guys have had a rough month. I am
So sorry that you have to feel this shitty bear Christmas, but it gives you the perfect out to do what you just want to do and not even bat an eye. I just hope you both continue to feel
Better each day. I’ve known pneumonia can take 4 to 6 weeks to clear up and even then you’re still tired and rebuilding your body. It’s very serious, and not to be taken lightly. That’s why walking pneumonia is harder to diagnose because people just think oh I’ll Kick this. It’s just a cold. Then wham a month of recovery.
Please feel better soon. I’m thinking of you both.

I have come to believe I should purchase stock in cvs. I live there. Between picking up my prescriptions and using my extra care points. I think I have been there at least twice a week for months. I hold my points and then use them for laundry detergents. They are just so damn expensive. Or if I need toilet paper. I wait and use the coupons for those items. It seems to work really well. They have great stocking stuffers also if you look around in the isles. I just realized it’s a pretty good store if you get that care pass deal. They give you $10 free each month to spend on whatever you need. I’m a shopping woman!!

My dog gave me a reminder of what it’s like to take care of a baby again. My dog had a bad tummy night and that was bad. 1030,1240,330,and again at 624 I feel like rubber. I Am starting my day in the negative in the sleep department. Not a great thing by any means. Not much to do which is great.
Hope all you ladies are getting close to being finished and or sitting by just waiting for the big day!

Mel, I am sorry your dog kept you up and is not feeling well to boot. Glad you do not have much to do. Rest up today if you can.

I am having a quiet day here. Probably will just go to the dollar store and pick up some cards for Christmas. Don't need groceries or anything. Woke up early so started my Saturday routine of washing bedding. Washing in vinegar as this is quicker as no extra rince cycle needed and using a cloth sprayed down with diluted fabric softener to give a nice smell. Beyond those things, I have nothing planned. Probably will watch movies. DB and SIL may stop over today as they usually visit over the weekend though being so close to Christmas, I am not going to expect it.
