    Mel,

Love your rants! You say exactly what you are feeling at the time, and I can’t help it, but you make me laugh. The way you describe sewing is hilarious. I failed sewing in Home Ec in high school, so I have great respect for anyone who can sew. Thanks! I needed a good laugh.

It is HOT here. I’m indoors all the time now. I have learned to handle the heat and humidity...it's called air conditioning. I can’t wait for the Fall and Winter months. That’s when living in FL is awesome.

For those with scans, tests, etc. this week, I’m reporting for pocket duty.

I am very, very sad to hear about Jaylea. My prayers are for her comfort and for her family. Sending love to her DH.

    Good Morning Ladies,
Can I throw a hissy fit for just a second? The wearing of masks. I don't know about you ladies but Ibrance leaves me so short of breath that I need to rest after walking in the grocery store for 10 minutes. I can't wait to get to the car. So I have on my mask that makes it hard to breath, Ibrance makes it hard to breath and living in Florida with the heat and humidity makes it hard to breath. Their uncomfortable, they fog up my glasses and I hate them. But I wear them! It makes me crazy when unmasked people look at me with the “your one of those people" looks.
That's all. Thanks for your time. Have the best day you can!

    GMS,

Where do you live in FL? I live in Tarpon Springs. And I SO understand what you mean about the masks. And who is looking at YOU with a mask ONwhen they should be the ones who get dirty looks for NO mask! Ugh! Same with head coverings (wigs, hats, etc.). SO DARNHOT!!!

    Anyway, hissy fits allowed!

GMS~I call such a person an idiot. Especially when Florida cases are on the rise like wildfire! Maybe he was dropped as a child by mistake.

Goodmorningsunshine, we get it. I hate wearing them too, I get overheated and nauseous but we do what we must and if a store requires it, you either mask up or leave. I’m becoming increasingly skeptical that this will really end though, we may just be living with it to some extent, very frustrating.

hey booboo I was just in Tarpon last Wednesday at St Luke’s getting a cataract removed. Everything is so bright now! I live up the road in Brooksville. The heat is bothering more and more lately so I’m grateful to be heading out to Oregon (RV trip) where it’s not as hot and humid.

Hi illimae I have the same dreadful thoughts about this wicked COVID-19.

    Hey Micmel you’re funny!

    GMS,

Sometime this Fall, Tanya and I will try to get back together for lunch. I’ll send you a private message so you can join us. We had such a great time together last time!

Safe travels to Oregon. Have not been there, but it’s on my bucket list!

Thanks Mel & Mara. This thread just moves really fast. But since I was fortunate to meet & have lunch with Mae in person (obviously before Covid), I try to check in to see how she's doing.

Bliss and moth, in your pockets for sure, and hello to everyone else.

On the topic of masks and overheating, I will NOT wear one outdoors, especially in this weather. I don't know what they advise where you are but if you are just walking around the neighbourhood, a mask is not recommended where I am. I do always wear one in the store and start out overheating, but become acclimated to it. My 22 year old nephew posted a picture of himself, sitting IN a bus shelter with NO shade or breeze in the blazing sun with a mask on on his Facebook complaining it was hot. I commented that he should take the mask off until he got on the bus and exit the bus shelter as the outdoor air would be cooler than sitting in a bus shelter when the temperature feels like 104. People just need to use common sense. If we were ever told we had to wear masks outdoors too, I would certainly never leave the house unless being driven around. I quite frankly would die if I tried that.

I mostly did my little surveys and such and took several microwalks of 10 or so minutes several times today. Enough for some exercise, not enough to get overheated. I also take off my hair when I get home. I need something on my head, I will occasionally use my UV blocking umbrella which helps since the sun is not blazing right on my head but it is still hot. I may just try to wear a mask and see how crazy I think people are. Our medical officer of health does NOT recommend it outdoors unless you cannot social distance.

    Hello all.

Today I am getting out a bit--a bit, LOL. I have blood draw, then pharmacy drive thru, bank drive thru, and pay a bill. Mostly contactless stuff, but at least getting out of house. But hot today. 100 or over heat index. I have AC in car, but just dread getting out and about in the heat. mara- I don't know how you do it walking in this heat.

Today is CBC/ANC check after normal week off of Ibrance. Hoping numbers are to my MO's liking--over 1000 (1.0) and I can start cycle 31 tomorrow. Appointment with second opinion MO next Monday about all this.

Prayers said for any who have scans today.

candy-678: in your pocket today for your blood draw. Fingers crossed for ANC well over 1

Hope the start of Cycle 31 is without drama.

    Wow... Cycle 31. That’s awesome

Candy I hope you ate your spinach and black beans from Maras cooking show.

I had to go to Dr for back hip pain. All of the staff is so brave. But this is a hospital for cancer so no Covid cases here. I may stop at grocery store on my way home.

Good luck Candy on the bloodwork

Tanya, hoping your hip pain resolves soon or can be controlled for you

Candy, hope you got to try the beans, spinach and queso, they certainly brought up my iron and RBC.

I was very foolish today. I saw I was out of the snackable burgers I use for red meat. I could have ordered delivery but decided no, it would be nice to walk and get them and save about 10.00 and I could use a gift card on an app. Each way is approx 30 mins. Drank lots of water before and brought a bottle for way home. I thought, I could do it with nothing more than sweating. Getting there was fine, stopping was the problem. I felt every bit of that heat and my body was stressed out so I started crying, not from sadness, just to release stress. The moral of the story for me, is yes, 10 mins or so of walking in the heat is fine, even several times, longer walks, no way. I did not get sick or anything, but it was definitely a big effort. Planning to sit on my butt the rest of the day. I don't know if using the UV umbrella would have done too much as I already had a hat on, who knows. I know once I cool off, I will be happy I went but while I am still hot, it did not feel wise. The weather here feels like 39C or 102 with the humidity. Next time, I will wait til DB and I go out to go that far and stick the 10 mins walk and early morning groceries.

I also saw LOTS of people running, I do not know how someone does that in the heat, walking is inough effort when you body is already working hard to regulate your temperature.

hello lovelies, I have been off in sewing land. Loving the learning. A few jams and sewed seems removed but doing well. My eyes are crossed, from threading the machine. I have to admit I love it. I’m doing masks they are great . Not ready to subject my kids to homemade clothing yet or anything. I’m lucky to have it. I feel grateful. Funny how at 50 I’m just learning this. Sucks up time like a sponge. Ive said some bad words. And loudly lol but loving it.

Tanya. Sorry about your back pain. I hope it’s muscular and can disappear soon. Poof!

Mara~id be laying on the floor, like in a scarlet O’Hara film hand over my brow fainting in the street. No hot walks for me. Be careful sweetheart! You do amaze. Me.

    Candy~ hello my friend.

    Evening all.

MO nurse called with results. ANC 900 (0.9) and MO says to start cycle 31 tomorrow. Whoopie !!!! Nothing else said about numbers. Either MO is ok with number after all, or she is thinking What the heck, let her start the next cycle. IDK, but hey, I can continue the Ibrance for now.

Errands went without a hitch. Too hot though. Called a couple of friends this afternoon. Going to bed soon---tired.

Tanya- How is the back? You doing ok?

mara- You take care. Too hot for you. Don't make yourself sick.

Mel- You go girl. Glad you have found something to occupy your time and having fun doing it.

    Candy fantastic news!

My back has gone downhill after the cancer in bone sclerotic healing arthritis and such. I have been trying to avoid surgery at all costs so will try the injections again. Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Mel what are you sewing 🧵? Pictures?

Mara my walking is so limited because of hip back stuff. The heat today was humid and high. I could barely stand the mask 😷 in AC! At least you know your limits in the heat.

    Waving hello to all.

Mel - I LOVE the last pink one! What a great pattern! Masks are a good first sewing project as they are so well, square so its just up and down and up and down and voila! Im glad to hear you are enjoying it AND making something useful :)

Mara - thought of you last night as I made my own refried beans for some nachos. It can be hit or miss to find them in the stores here, and I had some cooked pintos in the freezer so I found a recipe. So easy - they were done in 20 mins. Had to hold myself back from eating the whole pot! I was intending to smear some of the leftovers on a light wrap with vegetables for lunch today.

Tanja - girl, I know that pain and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I hope the injections work for you for the time being. So frustrating.

Not much new here, its Wednesday and pouring rain today which makes everything blah. Normally I love rain, but all last week was grey and mid 60s and such a downer. We've had a few hot days here and there but July has been grim so far and its mentally tough to keep going on these days. Other Half met up with all his work buddies at a pub in town last night AND got a hair cut - I made him get in the shower after he got home and put clothes in the hamper, etc, but it was so nice to have space to myself :)

Thanks all for being in my pocket today.

Had a little excitement last night when I discovered a bear got into my car! Bugger opened the car door and luckily he pushed it all the way open so it didn't shut on him, otherwise I would've had a torn up car. He got what he was after and left, but my Denver Broncos soft-sided cooler lost. I was out for the day and neglected to take in the cooler which I forgot had some leftover watermelon in it. I remembered around 9 pm, but when I went to retrieve it, too late, car door hanging wide open with destroyed cooler on the ground next to it. I found he also enjoyed my package of cherry cough drops!

    Mel,

Love the masks. They look great, and it's good that you are enjoying learning a new skill! WAAY back in high school, I took a sewing class one summer. I found that sewing was a great way to calm down from anxiety. Some night when I couldn't sleep, I would sit at the sewing machine and sew. I think it's the routine and the rhythm that is so soothing. Alas, life went on and I haven't sewn anything other than a hem since I was about 20.

    Bliss,

At least your car wasn't damaged! And you had something to take your mind off of your tests! Wow!

Sorry about the bear, they’re fun to see but scary and destructive too.

1st salad in 6 months! I only had 1/4 but it was great!

Mel the masks look great. You see a nice straight line no thread hanging lol. Good project.

Bliss that’s some excitement for sure. I guess when you live around them you are aware, cautious and you get used to them? That would’ve scared me to death.

    Mae the salad look yummy.

thx for my pocket tagalongs on monday for the CT and today for the results -

It's good news - shrinkage in all tumors except 1 smalI one. Overall decrease in tumor load. I'm staying in the trial.

I posted on the liver mets thread and then fell asleep lol. Not enough sleep last night and stress and my regular naptime got moved up

Now I'm starving and need to find some lunch

Bliss, yikes, a bear in your car! Glad he was gone on his own.

Tanya, sorry to hear about your back pain. Hopefully the injections help. I’ve had good luck with them in the past, up to 6 months before the pain started coming back. (My doc gave a series of 3, each a week apart.). We don’t realize how much someone’s mobility suffers with pain until it’s us having the pain.

Candy, great news, cycle 31 is a go! I’m glad your MO didn’t make it a big deal again. I hope the second opinion visit goes well.

Mel, your masks look great! I wear the style with the seam down the middle. I thought they’d do better with not making my glasses fog up but they don’t. I like the fit though.

Mara, be careful with the long walks in the heat & humidity. Glad you can keep most of them short. I feel so sorry for people that have to work in the direct sun plus heat.

I have scans tomorrow. It seems like I just had them but that was 3 months ago! I will be calling for results after a couple days since I don’t have an appt till the 22nd. I had another call from some group related to my insurance wanting me to go to a “cheaper” lab for the scans to save me money. I said no thanks. I just want to go to my hospital network labs and see my results on the portal. I got directions for opting out of the calls, yippee.

Hello everyone. I hope you can stay cool if you’re in a hot area.

Tanya_Djamila- hope you find something to help with back hip pain. Pain really pokes at our QOL. Your description of celebrating Independence Day sounds perfect during a pandemic.

Mara51506– I love to read about your walking adventures. Was sorry the recent trip in the stifling heat caused stress for you. I am sure I would melt if I walked even 10 mins outside while the feels-like temps are 100 degrees. You go, girl. Wow.

Micmel— enjoying your description of using your new sewing machine. I did sew many years ago but don’t have the dexterity to sew now. I was anal about sewing so I caused myself more stress. First thing I made for DH was a flannel shirt. I had to get all the pieces, including the pockets to line up. Flannel lines had to match. Your masks are pretty. I think I like the style of the green mask best.

SondraF— sounds like life where you are is more “open” than my city. Gives me hope that one day going outside won’t be a dangerous event. Are you staying where you are for now? Was thinking I had read about a future move???

Bliss58— a car in the car, oh my. What kind of bears are in your area? Do you have to use bear proof trash cans? We have friends who live at Lake Tahoe. They had a bear get into their home after baking a blueberry pie. Glad your car survived!

Moth— hoping you get positive news today regarding your latest CT for liver and lungs. Terrific news about bloodwork that meant no blood transfusion needed. Yippee!!!

MJHJAN1014– hoping your infusion of Gemcifibine went well earlier this week. Oral surgery and Y90.... time for a stint of good news and good results. Keep us posted.

Moomala- first, happy belated birthday!!! I feel your pain with your back pain. My biggest bone mets are along my spine plus a fracture at T12 that is not cancer related. When I pick up something wrong, I am immobile for a while. I am just getting over my latest back-out episode. I haven’t been offered cortisone shots for my back. Where do they give the shot? Have you tried Salon Pas lidocaine patches? They work for me taking the edge off. That nerve pain is miserable. I will keep you in my prayers hoping you get some deserved relief.

Illimae— your salad looked great. Miss your food porn photos. Loved your summer glasses you wore to a recent party.
