DodgersGirl, exactly right. They just think they’re invincible.
Sondra, I saw something online that I might try tomorrow when I go grocery shopping. You take the tube that the paper towel comes on, cut it, and place it over the handle of the grocery cart, no sanitizer needed. Lol. I may look stupid, but I might try it. I’ll just toss it in the garbage when I’m done. LOL.

I totally agree. Today we went back to the fabric store. People half ass wearing their masks. Noses out, hanging to their chin. My dh politely walked over and said my wife has cancer stage four and she can’t be getting sick , so could you please follow the guidelines of the store and state. She was flabbergasted. On went the mask and out the store they went. Idiots How rude can you be. Short of coughing at someone. So I’m frustrated along with you all. Got some cool new fabric. Excited. I’m on a mission. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hooray for Micmel’s DH! You’re our hero! 🎉 Well-done!
These days when I go to pick up groceries or plants curbside I say, “Please make sure you have your mask on properly with nose and mouth covered when you are loading my vehicle.” I had to call a home repair type person that can’t be put off. Same thing about mask wearing “the entire time he is on my property, please.”
How fun to pick out new fabric! I am so not a sewing person, but all those colors and patterns could almost make me do it.

As far as covid goes, I am glad my mother is not around for it. Not that I don't miss her but she was an anxious person anyway and the thought of me going to get groceries for her would have been too much as she worried a lot about my cancer too. I don't spend every day worried about it, I seem to have filed it where I filed my own cancer. Something there, but not at the forefront of my mind. I don't go out except for essentials and do wear masks indoors always. I walk outdoors, but I can distance from people most often. It does not mean I don't think it is serious, of course it is, I just can't worry about getting until I possibly get it. For me, worry will paralyze me and I just cannot handle that. I live one day at a time, both for the cancer but also this pandemic. May a vaccine arrive sooner as opposed to later.

Micmel— I don’t think I could pick up sewing again so I went a different route (one far less noble, I admit). Bought a new ice cream maker. The kind that doesn’t require me to freeze a bowl for hours (who has room in a deep freeze to do that?). The machine is a thermos electric model. I just mix up the ice cream mixture and turn on machine. In 45 mins to 90 mins, I have soft ice cream. I can rippen it in freezer if I want “hard” ice cream. I can use coconut milk or almond milk plus coconut cream or almond cream instead of milk and cream if I want to control lactose issues and can use sugar substitutes to cut sugar
Thinking I can play with flavors, see what we like. If I start ice cream late afternoon, we could have ice cream for dessert.
The machine makes 2 pints (not a lot but it’s only 2 of us at home).
And DH loves Chick-A-Fil’s frosted lemonade which I have a copycat recipe for (soft ice cream plus frozen lemonade concentrate) so we can see if we can duplicate that drink.

Dodgers girl I have a consultation this Friday with pain management to discuss the shots. I’ll let you know what it’s supposed to do. My back hip buttocks are in pain. Not every second but often enough to make walking and chores tedious.
Mel your husband is a knight! I see people’s masks hanging off, nose out. One ear attached the other not. I get aggravated easily at the grocery store. Aisles are full of people strolling star gazing at spaghetti. It’s better for my husband to go without me. It’s as if people don’t think Covid is real.
My friend told me her daughter and son don’t watch the news so they aren’t aware that’s it’s on the rise again.
It’s nice to see so many here.

Dodgers~that’s awesome! Everyone loves ice cream. That would be bad for my rear end. Oh so much you could do. I don’t blame you at all. I just wanted to learn how to make masks. I was seriously going to do it. No matter what!! I learned.....My Dh is a great teacher.
Shetland~I touch every fAbric. I love going there. I could get yards and yards. So many colors. Patterns. It’s a lot of fun. My dh’s aunt sent a lot of elastic for me to use so I’m ready to go. I’m really enjoying myself picking out whatever fabric I want. He just smiles at me. He knows more than I do. Without him in my life. I would be a very lonely broken woman. He’s my best friend. I value everything about him. He’s an amazing person. The best person I’ve ever known. Supports everything.
Hope I can sleep tonight...insomnia always finds its way around again.

Lol - stargazing at spaghetti. Yeah that about sums it up. Look folks, its not going to change shape or entities while you stare at it so either buy it or move on. Its like they are trying to find the meaning of life in the pasta aisle, before trying to find it in the canned goods aisle, and so on.
KBL- that is a great idea re: the paper tubes. I usually have at least one available, and if I need it for a big shop Ill take that next time for the cart.
Dodgers - hey, i figure that is still creative! Have you considered maybe throwing in some protein powder as well? You could get a nice balance of fats/proteins/carbs so lessen that treat hang over even more.
I've got a load of specialty flours and a bag of raw cashew pieces en route in order to try some vegan recipes. Not necessarily vegan/veg in this house, but I find I am far less interested in meat these days for whatever reason and, frankly, its a pain to plan around using chicken or whatever. Ive also been having problems with dairy for a few years now, so while a good greek yoghurt is fine for pre-pills breakfast, anything beyond that is trouble. My cousin's wife a few years ago made a vegan lasagna and it was outstanding, so I wanted to try one as well with cashew cream. If that works then I can also make mac and cheese and the Other Half won't know its actually good for him. And I've got tigernut flour so I can try this other recipe for baked donuts in my pan, for my morning coffee.
Mel - any news from Philly?

Well, it is a nicer day here. Cooler and a bit less humid with a nice breeze. Just got back from a bus trip to Walmart, I had a gift card I could use and they really are cheaper than my normal grocery store. Think I am going to switch stores for a while anyway. I am near a store that also lets me use my loyalty points and is not that much further away. I am still not keen or happy with my normal grocery store and they are pricey anyway. I was amazed how many people were there at 8 am. I would have gone there at 7am but there were no buses. We don't pay bus fare for right now since we get on at the back of the bus to protect the driver. They were on a Christmas schedule with fewer buses.
Other than that, probably will walk around the block, unsure if DB and SIL will want to go out with me, they may stop by to drop off some shorts. I don't know if there is still awkwardness about the whole kerfuffle a couple of days ago.
Edited to add, just had a nice visit with DB and SIL. We did not mention the kerfuffle though I gave her a hug on the way out as she had cried a bit before. She left some shorts for me and bedding. Not sure where I will keep the bedding but will figure it out.

SondraF— I figure once I am happy with making ice cream, I will work on mastering sorbets. I enjoy fruit based COLD treats more than ice cream anyway. Peaches are getting ripe in my area. Love frozen peach treats. ... or watermelon... or cantaloupe... etc Frozen bananas make a great ice cream base. Oh and frozen yogurt with fresh fruit. Yummmms

Philly,
I don’t know if you are reading this, but wanted to say I’m so sorry about the funk you are in (although I can certainly relate). Please know that we are always here for you. I’ve been fighting my own depression lately, so I know what you might be feeling. Huge hugs for you from FL.
P.S. I’m missing a good Philly hoagie. They don’t know how to make them down here!

Tanya— thank you for offering to share regarding shots for back hip pain.
Sure hope your team lessens your pain.

Hello all.
Philly- Miss you. Come back when you can.
Another quiet day here. Church service online. Maybe some organizing of personal papers today. Laundry. Not much else.
Appointment with second opinion MO tomorrow--- drive 2 hours one way. Got my thoughts/notes together for the appointment. Hope it goes well and we have good communication. Need to make decision on if I am transferring care to the new MO or staying with current MO--- will see how appointment goes.
KBL- Neat idea about paper towel tube on grocery cart handle. Will have to try.
Mel- Love your mask pics you have posted!!!!
I am tired of the mask debate. People just need to do the right thing, but that is not going to happen. Frustrating.
Dodgers- The ice creams sound great!!!!
Several on my notes for scans/appts this week: NicoleRod, Radagastrabbit, Booboo, Rosie??- thought last week scan. Prayers for all.

Candy,
Good luck tomorrow. I hope the visit with the other MO goes well. It sounds like you are ready to go, and you should feel free to ask away. That's why you are seeing this person.
You are so good about remembering when scans are -- thanks for caring.

We are a family of sorts here. I care about you all.

First ice cream test is going. Just making vanilla ice cream.
My container garden is starting to produce fruit so I was able to make my green smoothie for breakfast with my own peppers. Tomatoes are starting to ripen so won’t be long til I can use them in the green smoothie, too. Container cucumbers are doing well. Plant is about 2 foot tall and produces 6 inch cukes. Perfect for refrigerator pickles.

Candy, I tried the paper towel tube today. It worked. I just tossed it in the trash after I got outside. We still have to touch all the products, but it's one less thing to worry about. The workers at my store clean the handles, and I don't trust anyone but me. I was taking a Lysol wipe and doing it myself.

Candy,
Thank you for remembering. Tomorrow, bright and early, reporting for scans. I don’t expect to hear good news. I have been off of treatment since April, so I’ll take whatever comes. I am just not sure I have a lot of fight left in me. But we’ll see what happens.
Hope everyone is having a good evening.

Booboo I’m there with you in the morning too.

Dodgers vanilla homemade ice cream sounds delicious.

Mel- I am not "fantastic". I just keep a sticky note by my computer with dates of people's scans. LOL.
KBL- I wipe down cart handles with a Lysol wipe too.
Tanya- Yes 2nd opinion appt tomorrow. I posted on the Ibrance Thread some questions for the group---how to word my "interview" questions for the new MO. Some really good advise.

Epic day on the food front! Brunch was a small piece of toast and most of a fried egg. Lunch was an open faced tuna melt with provolone. Dinner was pasta in a Parmesan sauce with a few seared scallops. Portions were small but delicious!
Not much else going on. Hi to all

BooBoo1–. In your pocket for scans tomorrow.
We had the vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was pretty good and nice and cold. Machine makes just enough for the 2 of us. Will probably try watermelon sorbet or strawberry sorbet next
Several local restaurants and bars are temporarily closed in town due to workers testing positive for CoVid and a few other outbreaks at group homes have been announced today. Seems harder and harder to avoid this novel virus Sigh

booboo - reporting for pocket duty
Candy - good luck with the 2nd opinion; hope all.your Qs get answered
Yesterday was a total wash for me, I kept falling asleep all day & had repeat fevers. Today I'm much better & discovered that Christmas in July is playing on one of our channels so I'm binging. Many of the hallmark Christmas movies are filmed here locally so that is extra fun. "Evergreen" town is a very short drive from my house lol

Booboo, with you for scans tomorrow morning. Hang in there.
Candy, hope you get answers to all your questions to your satisfaction.
Mae, making progress on the eating front. Bravo! Well done and yum!
Dodgers, nothing better IMO than homemade vanilla ice cream. A fond childhood memory. Yum!
Moth, glad you're feeling better today. Enjoy the binge!
Waving hello to everyone else.
