My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer

GoldensRBest,
I travel 45-50 minutes to my center, by choice. I could get treatment closer, but wanted to be at a big cancer center for all of the opportunities it offers. But 90 minutes each way? Wow, that's a lot. I can see why you could get frustrated by also having to wait and wait to get treatments, see docs, etc. As I posted before, I just started keytruda, and I have to have labs pulled before they will give me my treatment. This past week, one of the nurses told me that one patient had gotten there at 11:30 for labs and at 1:30 was still waiting for lab results. Then, they have to get his infusion meds from the pharmacy, and she said that would take another hour to hour and a half. So I've decided to do my labs closer to where I live, a couple of days before my infusion, so that will expedite the whole process -- the pharmacy actually then will prepare my meds the night before.
I feel for you.
On another note, I got my first Covid shot last night! Yay! It was the Pfizer vaccine. No big deal -- very slight pain in my arm where the shot went in, and nothing much else. Second shot is Feb. 12th. I expect a reaction to that one, since most people seem to have something. Just preparing myself, but grateful to get the first shot anyway.

Hello all.
Looks like several are on the Boards right now.
Another quiet day for me. Laundry. Reading. I treasure the quiet days. But, I am tired of them. Reading all your posts. Makes me not feel so alone.

Micmel, I am looking at all of my fingernail polish colors and will paint my nails today. You were my inspiration when you posted your beautiful nails. I bought a lot of polish that day as I was feeling down. It helped.
You always post with positivity, so it makes me sad when you hurt. Maybe we both can paint our nails today to reflect our good days. Your bruises will heal and hopefully, your spirit, too.

Sandi~that is a very nice thing to read. Thank you. Feeling better today each day I’m sure. No one likes to fall. But damn that hurt. Still tender and ohh so black and blue size of a basketball small down my leg. Yup one for books. I’d take a pic. But it’s not in a pic taking place lol. I’ll be back in spirits no time ! Thanks again. That matter. To me

Just got off the Skype with parents on the BRCA thing. Dad seems to remember there may have been a second cousin and/or a great aunt who had breast cancer. Maybe. But it was all positive and I assume my brother and sister will be ok with it too when I email them. I sent them a link to the booklet my hospital puts out on this, for them to read more.
Otherwise not much happening here, my sinus infection seems to have cleared and my ears finally opened up today so I can stop worrying about either deafness or a brain tumor.

when I fell I was like omgAn X-ray where they will find a new crack or spot that wasn’t there. I don’t want to go anymore than I have to. March is soon enough for me.

I would Post a pic but I wouldn’t want to scare anyone ! The bruise is ugly. Yuck

Good evening everyone. So much to catch up on!
Mel. I fell over our dog gate about a month ago landing on our stone tile floor. Landed on knee, hip, elbow, shoulder. I can relate to the pain and the bruises. Hope you are healing quickly!
KBL. So sorry for your loss.
Sondra. Sad to hear about the BRCA+. My family is riddled with cancer, 5/7 just with parents and siblings. We haven't found the genetic link yet. Hate this disease.
Mae. Relieved that DH is benign.
In preparation for the clinical study, had several biopsy's on Thursday, and CT scans with contrast. It was much more exhausting than I expected. Still packing up Christmas items. It's always the last few boxes that I find that hardest to deal with. We are enjoying some rare rain here, which means I will have to buck up and clean up the garden, now that the soil will be easy to work with.
Cheers to everyone!

Morning all. 8am Sunday here.
Hoping Karen will chime in and tell us how she is doing after her lung draining last week.
I have Sondra with scans this week. And movingsoccermom with scans and biopsy.
Any one else??
I hope to get my first Covid vaccine this week. Thru a volunteering thing. In my State they are doing 65 and over, but not my age (50). I called the Director of the volunteer thing and asked if I was "jumping the line" by doing my vaccine. He said No because it is being offered to all their volunteers, regardless of age. I have been holding my Ibrance--- MO said hold 1 week before vaccine and for 1 week after. I hope they don't call and cancel the vaccine since I have been holding my cancer treatment. Who knows. So much hoopla around the distribution of this vaccine. They need to get their act together.
Today is church online. How I wish I could go in person. And I will be checking in here often.
Edited---Kittykat good pic !!!!!

I was able to get my 1st COVID vaccine on Tuesday. Area of injection was super tender for a couple days. 2nd vaccine on 2-9. My hubs had no reaction to either. Friend was fatigued for a day after 2nd shot. Hoping reaction, if any, is mild. So grateful that after a year of COVID crap we have these vaccines. Praying they offer protection to all these mutations cropping up. I still plan to stay home except for medical appointments. Not much to do in our town of 5000 anyway except go to Walmart. And I despise Walmart. I remember 30 years ago, the company was all about Buy American. How those times have changed. Hard to blame Wallyworld entirely as so many businesses wentoverseas. That’s my soapbox rant today. Have a good Sunday friends!

Hello everyone. I hope it is a beautiful Sunday wherever in the world you may be!
Sounds like some of you have already got your COVID vaccines or getting close. I am on the list and they will email me when it gets close so no idea how long that will be. Speaking of vaccines. Hopefully, any that are able will get the shingles vaccine. That was one of the first things I did after my cancer came back as stage 4.
I agree with Goldens on the Wallyworld situation. A friend of mine worked there for around 30 years at their headquarters and quit last year. She said that she did not think that Sam Walton would recognize the company today. Her father also worked there before her. I live in a small unincorporated farm town that has no businesses and the town of 25,000 that we do most of our shopping in that is 25 minutes away, I noticed that yet another business is closing down.
Candy - I do online church as well. My church doesn't have do the online service any more and when they did the acoustics were so bad I could not hear very well. I found another online mass to watch and really enjoy the different sermons. I can't wait until I can get back to my real church when it is safer to be there.
Mel - I hope that each day that passes you start to feel better.
Kitty - Wonderful that you got some Nana time!
Everyone - It is often mentioned that on this thread that we are all sitting and visiting around a coffee table. Today as I look at the weather forecast for my area, I see that we will be getting freezing rain followed by snow starting tonight and continuing tomorrow. I would like to make a motion that this "coffee table" we are sitting around right now we can visualize it as being at Tanya's in Tampa for a few days!

Hello!
The vaccine crew was most concerned about Xgeva interaction since it is a monoclonal antibody. The oncology pharmacist said NP so I went ahead. Don’t know if others have run into this question. My Onc said nothing about Ibrance interactions. Oh well🙄
0 -
Iwrite - My MO told me to get the shots as soon as I could. I am on XGEVA, Faslodex and Ibrance. What does "NP" stand for?
0 -
Moving, thank you. I had a sad moment yesterday. I’m sure that will happen for a while.
Kitty, love the picture. I have my grandson alone a few times a week. My husband wants to tell my daughter it’s a must that we have him full time because I’m always happy when he’s here. When he’s not here, I get a little grumpy. Lol

My MO suggested the stopping of Ibrance for 1 week before the Covid vaccine and for 1 week after due to my low white counts. You all know I struggle with that. With my last monthly check my WBC was 1.5 and my ANC was only 700 (0.7). So, she felt the vaccine would "take" better if I could get it when my body could have the best numbers. She did not say anything about the Xgeva--- I got it on Dec 21st and get it every 3 months.
I too will continue to isolate even if I get the vaccine. Too many what ifs still. Not enough of the population receiving the vaccine yet and the mutations of the virus and uncertainty of the vaccine against those mutations. But I will feel some comfort that if I am exposed-- when I go to get my blood drawn, or when I have to be out in public--- that maybe I will be ok. Not catch it, or get a mild case that won't kill me. Some measure of protection. And I will still mask up, hand wash, and stay home. Online church still for who knows how long.

cowgal, (I love your name, by the way) NP stands for Nurse Practitioner - I think they're awesome.
0 -
cowgal yes let’s sit on my porch or lanai it’s 75 here today.
Kitty being nana for the day is spectacular. The picture says it all.
Mel I hope you’re healing well.
I think I saw Karen posted somewhere else. I’ll have to check when.
Candy when I get the vaccine I will still isolate and wear a mask until I get more concrete info in all the mutations etc. my husbands friend has had Covid 3 times throughout the pandemic. He can’t believe it himself.
Mel I hope you’re healing and be careful. Judge Judy’s advice for the elderly, “don’t fall.”
Goldens my DH SE’s after vaccine 1 were minimal. He goes back sometime in Feb. He said the BA was organized with smooth flowing lines. No appt necessary for our vets!
Iwrite thanks for the info. About the vaccine. So far my doctor didn’t mention taking a week off but it’s so hard for me to even get an appt bc I’m 63. They want 65 and up.
Movingsoccermom ouch with the gate fall. I hope you’re all patched up now.
Booboo I see you snuck in. I hope you’re feeling well today.
SondraF I’m glad you made it through the tough parent conversation. They sound very educated and understanding.

How about this for our winter living room? No coffee for me though, with this view, I’m drinking cocktails 🍹

Mae- Nice. But I am a winter person, so a cozy cabin living room sounds good to me. But, any living room would be good if we could really, in person, sit down and visit.

Ok ladies. I just walked 1/2 mile on treadmill in 18 minutes. Is that good? I think so. Pretty fast pace. With spurts of slower at times. No jogging.
Starting out the week with movement. Might not last all week, but for today it was good.

Mel the bruising makes me wonder about dislocation? My Ex H dislocated his hip in an accident, it popped back in on its own, but left a ton of pain and a huge bruise...
0 -
Candy, sorry, I don’t know about your 1/2 mile walk, but I think doing it at all is better than not doing it. I had to convince myself to get out for a short walk today since I did nothing yesterday with temps in the teens. I don’t have a treadmill but our neighborhood streets are clear of snow and pretty quiet. It’s about 27 degrees here but no wind for a change and wasn’t too bad. A treadmill sounds pretty good to me. I hope your vaccine goes well. Let us know.

Hey everyone!
Lazy day here, watching football and looking at living room decor ideas. Trying to keep my mind busy.
My bloodwork finally posted and my liver enzymes are high. I'm concerned the meds are causing it, or worse.
I have a the PET tomorrow and CT'S Wednesday. If I'm honest I started the day rough, emotional mess. But, I'm doing better now distracting.
I'd love to hang with yall in that living room facing the beach. Cocktails and snacks galore. Maybe some chair massages thrown in?

that close to water Mae I have to get in.
I watched the game with DH and looks like the super bowl will be here in 2 weeks!
Our weather here today was in the low 70’s. I grew up in frigid weather. Nothing like standing waiting for a school bus with cramps to make you loathe it. Don’t miss it at all.
