I'm so glad I finally took the step to make contact with all of you, I finally feel like I have someone that understands how I feel.
On a happy note, I went to bingo today after my chemotherapy, I got there with 5 mins to spare and guess what, I won $700, I was shaking I was that excited, I don't usually win, I just go for the company and I figure that what I lose supports a local charity. I'm going to spoil myself with a treat of some description, any ideas my brain trust.🥰.
I've been feeling so flat lately, with progression, then pneumonitis and 2 hospital stays and now IV chemo that makes me feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck, karma must have decided I needed a pick me up.
I hope everyone can find some happiness in their day today. I love having all of you in my life.
I love yoga, I hope it goes a bit of a way to ease your pain Candy.
I'm up for pocket duty if anyone needs it, I'll bring the Timtams.

Kitty,
Yipppppeeeeeeee!!!!!! That is so awesome that you won $700. And yes, yes...time to go and spoil yourself. Buy something fun. A new purse maybe. Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy it!

Kitty~Atta girl. Whoo!!! Whooo!! That’s awesome and you deserve it you needed a pick me up and you got it. I am so happy for you. Hugging you from across the miles. I’m sorry you were also feeling down. We alll get that way. All of us. No matter what!

Oh my goodness, we seem to be having an emotional rollercoaster time between us all... me too. It does help me knowing we are all in the same boat. CT for me on 15th April and second Covid jag on 17th. This Xeloda cycle has been a bit more doable with reduced dose and timescale. Still plenty of SEs though.... better bloody be working...it’ll be a real downer if the scan results are poor.

The mere mention of cancer brings me down. My DH and I chose a movie last night. In the damn movie. The star was drying from lung cancer had months to live. I was like seriously? It’s everywhere. I was just like leave me alone! Leave my friends alone!
Haven’t seen Mae. !??0 -
Kittykat- Wow $700!! Great!!! Enjoy. Timtams????
Karen- Pocket duty for your CT.
Well, not to be a downer, and not to sound blah all the time. But, yoga was not that great. I know, first class, give it a chance. For those that said they do yoga---BevJen and Kittykat-------
First, I thought it would be more of a video. No. It was a Zoom class. I mean, we could all see each other. Next, I have a desktop computer and camera, so stationary. So I could not see the instructor when I was on the floor and no one could see me. I kept popping up to see what pose the instructor was doing. We started with lying on back breathing and relaxing. "Start with your head, your neck, feel your throat relax" , etc etc head to toes. My mind was wandering and I could not relax. Then we sat up (on the floor) and did the yoga-cross-your-legs pose. Not. I could not get my legs in that position. Too much pain in hips and knees. One guy was in a chair so I got on a chair. Then we did a thing where others were on a chair and you lift your left leg onto your right--- like left heel on right knee. I could do left heel to right knee, but not right heel to left knee. Again, hip and knee pain. Then we did right hand on hip and raise left arm over head and stretch. Not. Trouble with left shoulder.
I actually felt like crying. I was frustrated. I hurt all over. Neck, shoulders, hips, back, knees. I did not want to be on camera and let others see I was getting frustrated. IDK. Maybe I need some PT. But the stupid Covid thing. And money. More co-pay bills with a physical therapist. This Zoom Yoga was free.
Next class next Wednesday. Maybe try again....

mara: I buy Beyond Meat burger patties. The package says "Do Not Overcook" - it is about 4 minutes per side. They are really good and are part of our dinner rotation. I use their ground version in chili. I still like a rare steak but many of our meals are vegetarian. I can't go whole vegan. I love my eggs and cheese. I am so impressed with all that walking. As our weather improves I am making a pact with myself to get out and walker further more often. I am so sad and sorry for you in your aloneness. I am grateful to have my DH. We enjoy each other's company and much as he is supportive and understanding he doesn't get the depth of what we feel. Sometimes I don't tell him because it makes him feel helpless when he wants to give his all.
I enjoyed my live Zumba classes that I took a few years ago. I should look up a Zoom class.
I think we are all feeling unsettled. It has been a whole year of toilet paper hoarding/shortages, shocking covid death numbers, anti-masker protesters, businesses closing, wondering where and when it is safe, racial injustice, killing people because they are black, beating up people because they are Asian, fires, floods, US politics (why do I get so wound up when I am Canadian?!) not seeing friends or relatives, no travel. I was never a big restaurant goer but I would sure like to have a meal put in front of me that I didn't have to cook myself and someone to take away the dirty dishes. Throw in BC. It is remarkable that we still sound sane.
I am getting my jab on April 6th. I never minded shots but this one I am actually looking forward to. Canada's vaccine roll-out has been a mess but BC seems to be getting a handle on it now. But we have a supply problem. Looks like the plan is to get the first shot into as many people as they can and if the second is delayed for longer than the manufacturer's recommendation so be it. It looks like a 80% protection level on the first beyond the 21-28 days but no one knows when that level falls away. As for "a month between vaccines", are you thinking all vaccines, Candy? That isn't so. When I worked at the Travel Immunization Clinic, some people got an astonishing number of shots all at once. Some required a 2nd shot in a year (Hep A) but rabies was spread out over a several weeks to get all three in before travel.
Even with my first dose, I think I will still be hesitant about eating out. Will fear be a prevailing feeling for a long time? Once my pals get their shots we can get together for uke playing, making meals together, wine, laughter. I hold that image in my mind to get through the next long slog.
Blessings

Oh Candy, I get what you're saying about showing others that you are frustrated, though personally, I would just think the person is a beginner vs anything else. I am sorry you are feeling pain. When you are not so sore, maybe there will be a yoga that will not kill you and work the parts that are most in pain before another class, not sure. Hope you feel better soon.

Candy, I'm sorry you had a bad experience, it sounds awful. I was doing a free online one on YouTube, they have chair yoga for people with cancer or mobility issues , maybe that would be a better option for you to begin with. Whatever you do, don't push yourself beyond your limits, just reach as far as your comfortable with, you will find that eventually you are moving more freely than when you first started.
Timtams are the yummiest chocolate cookies (bikkies) that's a purely Aussie saying, ever made in my opinion.

This is from the CDC website about using Covid vaccine next to other vaccines--- not 1 month, but 14 days. I wanted to post a link, but cannot figure how to do it so I copied and pasted.
Given the lack of data on the safety and efficacy of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines administered simultaneously with other vaccines, the vaccine series should be administered alone with a minimum interval of 14 days before or after administration with any other vaccines. If mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are inadvertently administered within 14 days of another vaccine, doses do not need to be repeated for either vaccine.
It is under CDC Covid 19 Vaccines Freq asked questions.

Kittykat- Those look awesome !!!!!!!

Those biscuits do look really good. I would probably eat quite a few myself.

Karen, in your pocket for scan results when you get them, glad to hear you are getting the second vaccine injection.

Well I signed up for next Wednesday's Zoom Yoga again. And I called my PT person--- they mask, but not all employees have had vaccine (some chose not to). And this is a busy practice. So... would like PT, but unsure of risk--- sitting in waiting room, having therapist that is not vaccinated face to face with me, etc. Crappy Covid concerns.

Called GP today to sort out my second Covid vaccine, as delayed ovary surgery now comes within 4 days of the current planned vaccination, and I am supposed to be quarantined for two weeks in advance. Hospital only had Pfizer (this week), I need AZ, and it sounds like GP will be able to find one for me for the week of the 12th. Then you hear all this drama out of Germany/Canada about the rare blood clotting and they won't give it to under X age (doesn't matter the cut off, Im well under it) and you think cripes, can't I just blow this off and restart the process with a better vaccine? Im so tired of trying to juggle the Covid stuff on top of the Ibrance timing and this stupid surgery that once its done will make everything flow better. I swear I am the only person who has had AZ, everyone else seems to have landed on the Pfizer square!
Candy - that sounds really frustrating for sure. What you may want to do before the next session is look up some chair yoga videos on youtube, just to get a sense of modifications and the general movements. Im terrible at yoga and always needed modifications even before cancer and yet the tiny little yoga instructors never seemed to remember that not all of us have bendy components.
Kitty - what fun to win at the bingo! I hope you get a chance to spend it on something completely frivolous! TimTams are really really good - folks would always bring them into the office when returning from that part of the world. I made sure to have a box in our hotel room in Thailand!
Karen - best wishes for a good scan, was the weather just as nice up by you?
Mel - I saw Mae in another thread.
Living on the edge here - I had *gasp* baked (organic) tofu squares in tonights veggie fried rice. And steak planned for Easter! Long holiday weekend in the UK and I took next Tuesday off as well, so will be hitting the spring cleaning as its supposed to rain and be cold.

I was on twitter & asked some questions about confusing criteria for our covid rollout, ended up doing a phone interview with a journalist about the vaccine rollout for cancer pts and our caregivers. She's doing a story on it but now wants it to be bigger & now they want to send camera crew to do a tv story...& I just don't know if I want to do it.

Candy,
I am working hard on getting my first yoga video finished. I hope you will try it and give me feedback. I am used to teaching in person classes where feedback is immediate but this is a new challenge. I taped it last night but I had a chair in the wrong place that blocked the view of my body in a few poses so I am trying again tonight. I am finding it is tricky to have the camera in the right place for all poses. The class I take is on zoom but the instructor has it so that no one can see you-even him because he has many students. I prefer it that way so that I can go "rogue" when I want. I'm sorry your body is hurting today after class.

I can understand that Moth. I'd be hesitant also. I'm a homebody.

I’m here, mostly just reading along.
I met a friend for lunch and picked up a delicious cupcake from a local bakery, it was sweet and delicious. Still working on packing up the house. We were hoping to head back to the cabin after my scans coming up mid April but the task is going so slowly. Gonna keep boxing as much as I can, unfortunately DH takes more motivation.

Mae, that looks so yummy!

Kitty, yay for the win!
I am three weeks past my second Covid vaccine (Moderna) so after my lab appoint my DH and I went out to eat--first time in over a year. Restaurants just opened for inside seating this week for SO California (San Diego) though with limited seating. Well, we were there at 12:30 and were the only customers in the place! But it was great... finally felt at least a little normal. I feel with Karen on Scanxiety. I have my next scan scheduled for the 14th, the first since my Xeloda dosage reduction, so I will be praying for both of us those days.

Into light ~welcome back. We will all be ready for pocket duty for your scans. Treats and all. It’s always nice to see you pop in. Good to see you.

Mae ~ that looks damn good. I need me some sweets now. Lol ugh ! Sleep instead? Doubtful.

Mel, hope you got some sleep last night.
I have not been as productive. Read an article that does not surprise me but just lets us know vaccination is not the end of covid. Fully vaccinated staff and resident of a longterm care home have tested positive for covid. Just goes to show that the vaccine can protect us from ICU or dying of covid but that it will be a long time before we can be considered normal. I see the covid vaccine as a flu shot, the shot won't mean you don't get the flu but that it should not be as bad.
I plan to mask up in public places and may do this after covid is history.
Not sure what I want to do today. I am washing smaller blankets in my bucket with a clip on washer. Taking the larger blankets to the washer at my apartment. Used it all of once while living here

Hey friends-if you want to do some yoga in the living room, check out my video. https://youtu.be/BPOANpfxN_s
I'd appreciate your feedback since this is the first time I'm trying to teach people that I can't see or help directly.
Thanks!

Thanks Ladies for the pocket duty! Sondra not so great weather up here, but today was nice. Mae I like that you’re dropping in and out just now... means you’re living and busy!

I have been having a terrible time lately avoiding sweets, so when I see things like what Mae posted, I just want to go right out and find something yummy too! I used to always tell myself NO, but lately have been giving in. My favorite is red licorice. Obsessed! Or anything with caramel. Oh boy, I may need to make a trip to the store!!!

yay! I got my first dose of Pfizer covid vaccine & dh is scheduled to get his first dose of Astro Zeneca tomorrow. I don't think we will change anything that we do - not until we have our 2nd doses and case numbers fall, but it feels good to be moving forward on this.
not much new otherwise - doing to try to do some cleaning around the house. So many things are just messy & need putting away.

moth: yay on the vaccine. Why did you get Pfizer and your DH getting AZ? I m with a lot of us, I won't be throwing caution to the wind for a long time yet. Maybe we'll end up like a lot oif Asia, wearing masks during flu season etc.
I get you being unsure about a TV interview. I am shy, hate speaking in public. But you could help people by speaking out.
mae: That cupcake is thing of beauty. I have been craving sweets lately, too. I decided to make a plum crisp and I'll have it with vanilla ice cream. The kitchen smells so good.

candy: that is interesting. Is it because it is mRNA?
