Quick update while everyone else is off ATV-ing up to a waterfall. It has been wet with occasional breaks. The flip side is there aren’t many people here. We decided to splurge and get the cook that is available with our Airbnb. Fabulous to have scrumptious breakfasts and dinners prepared for us. The others have been surfing several times a day—I’ve been hanging on the beach watching when it’s not raining too hard. My boys’ SOs and I had a girls day yesterday—massage, yoga, shopping, cocktails. Tomorrow they’ll go horseback riding. I’ve opted out of it because I’m afraid my bones are Swiss cheeseimage. It’s been fun seeing the monkeys that hang around our house. I’ll post a few pics—hardly any of me. I’m feeling old and lumpy and dark-haired.

Beautiful pictures, Ingerp! I love Costa Rica! Have to get info of your Airbnb. I'd love to have a private chef next time I go there.

And you don’t look lumpy at all! You look great and happy. Have fun!

    Happy Birthday, Robin!

I'll send an update soon. Glad to hear that we are all done with treatment (except for pesky things like Zometa infusions...)! Woohoo!

And I love everyone's hair pictures!

And believe it or not, there is something I miss about chemo - bald legs....

Urdrago, I busted out laughing - thank you for the birthday stripper, lol. (still loving you hair color!).

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes. ;)

Linda2119, I'm with you on the bald legs. I hid my legs all winter, but had to break out the razor a few weeks ago. Ugh. Are you done with the trial drug?

IngerP, I loved Costa Rica, too. We had a coatimundi (sorta of like a raccoon?) walking around by our door and fed monkeys bananas on a boat trip down a river. Too cool. You look great, enjoy yourself and get spoiled by that private chef!

Edited to add: Duffyzmom, I forgot to say good for you for getting out and running. I really need to get back in the swing. We only climbed stairs on the ship and I thought my quads were going to fall off after about 4 decks, ha.

loving the pics from costa Rica...

Lol, regarding muscles ..first time manual labor since last year..thanks to the lawn guy that never showed @ my moms..Push mowing, I did half today and the rest I'll get on Friday..I was sweating, and lacking A Lot of muscle strength to push the stupid thing..

Update, I will be done with Xeloda end of July. And Im about 98 percent sure ,,,my choice ..Im not doing Immunotherapy trial. Bcuz The 50/50 chance to get in, then the risk of inflammation to a organ, chance that it protects me from reoccurrence is maybe 3 percent. Mental I feel like my body has done very well thru everything Ive toss at it already. Its time to move on with my life..

next week I see my surgeon for the 8 month follow up. Ive also got a recontruction plastic surgery consult end of June, just to see if they can release the dimpling in from incision site for lymphnode removal.

    Wishing everyone a great weekend.

    Thanks, Ingerp!

Urdrago, push mowers are rough even when you're up to par... Yay for you being almost done with Xeloda! I'm so happy they found a way for you to be able to take it. It doesn't seem like the trial would be worthwhile if it only lessens the recurrence risk by 3%. You have been through a lot, I can understand wanting to be done. Will you have an MX once you're done? I know you were kicking it around at one point.

wow, am I behind on everything!! Staying busy is a good thing I guess

InnaB I hope you are feeling better!

Happy belated BD GAW. Always count on urdrago for a pic lol

    Adorable hair urdrago!

Love seeing all the vacation pics

Hitting the 1 year pfc mark tomorrow. Still needing a headband. I notice my hair straightening a little at the crown but I literally wash and go. Put in my taffy and air dry. Running 3 miles a day pretty regularily.

The last 3 days and today have been walking 7 miles at a golf tournament here in town. If you flip on the TV this evening look for me! Lol I will be the one in a headband.

Have a nice Sunday, hugs to all!

Ugh. Sitting here in the San Salvador airport on my way home from Costa Rica and have a voicemail from my GYN saying I need another colposcopy. I had an abnormal PAP last fall, had the colposcopy, and she said let’s look again in six months. Kind of a buzz kill for the end of my trip.

  • gawarrior
    gawarrior Member Posts: 368

Boooo, Ingerp. Buzz kill indeed. If it helps, I had an abnormal one years ago (in 2000), had the colposcopy then. 6 mo later and it was clear at the 2nd colposcopy. Hoping the same for you. Have a safe trip!

    ingerp Member Posts: 1,515

Thanks, GAW. I'll keep my fingers crossed. It's just that, as I told my GYN at the check-up a couple of weeks ago, I haven't thought about that part of my body in so long. Not sure I have the brain space to do that. <sigh>

Definitely a buzz kill, Ingerp. Good luck to you!

Interg Man what a buzz kill! I had my first colonoscopy this past fall. Something I would not want to have to go do it again right away. I would be none too happy about it either. Good Luck!

    ingerp Member Posts: 1,515

Life--not a colonoscopy (although I'm due for one of those too). This is a colposcopy--examination of my cervix. What is it with my body and all these wonky cells?!?!?

  • duffyzmom
    duffyzmom Member Posts: 217

Ingerp - I'm actually surprised your Gyn did any testing that close to chemo. My previous oncologist recommended waiting at least 6 months following chemo for pap because of cellular changes caused by chemo. Fingers crossed that was your issue. Loved the vacation photos.

GAWarrrior - belated birthday wishes. This weekend I actually ran for 23 minutes straight. I had been just doing walk/run intervals so it felt good to complete this one. I still feel really slow but baby steps.

DebAL: which tournament were you at? I love golf even though I'm not very good at it. We've gone to many tournaments and I'm always amazed at how much walking you can do.

Urdrago - I totally understand your reluctance to do the trial. Especially when you've had issues with the Xeloda.

As for the shaving legs, so far I'm still pretty lucky. I only have to shave about once a week as the hair hasn't seem to come back. And this weekend the last two weird toenails dropped off so I'm hoping my fingernails start doing better. I had the gel nails removed so that nails could breather a little but am now regretting it as they are still chipping and catching on everything.

Well I may be losing my marbles (and I didn't have all that many to begin with). I thought I had the first colposcopy last fall but when I went back to look at that report and compare it with this recent one it turns out it was actually over a year ago, shortly before I started chemo. I'll have this one June 27th (almost 11 months PFC). I did a little research this morning--I'm having a hard time locking down probabilities of various outcomes for what the report showed ("high grade squamous intraepitheal lesion"--HGSIL if anyone has experience with that). I'm also weary of having to research medical stuff for myself. Just can't seem to throw myself into it like I did with the BC. Ennyhoo--you all are wonderful to listen. I showed my post above to my DIL, who was sitting next to me at the airport, but I decided not to tell anyone else until I have more information. I'm guessing at worst I'll need some small procedure (anybody familiar with LEEP?). I am so not <typically> a worry wart--trying to stay true to my nature, but I think my history has me a little shaken.

Okay let's go to good news. I don't mind that my leg hair is back fairly strong--I'm attributing that to the Biotin, so I figure it's helping my head hair too. My body hair is so pale--nobody notices whether I shave or not anyway. And I think my eyelashes are getting longer! Not back to what they used to be, but even though I feel like I've had a full set for a while, they were barely long enough to be affected by an eyelash curler. I've been using Rapid Lash--forgot to pack it on vacation but I'll start it back up and hope to continue seeing results. :-)

Okay ladies after all this talk about hair on the legs I decided to check it out myself. I kid you not I have two hairs on my knee and one hair on the other. Other than that I have no hair on my legs!🤣

Interg You know, I have found when I dig into Dr Google and try and figure out what's going on with me I stress myself out way worse than what it actually is. I have come to the conclusion that maybe I need to quit getting so intimate with Dr Google. That relationship can be such a time sucking stressful one. You have just spent a solid year going through some hard s***! Who would have energy to even want to research? I say give your mind a rest. Go to your doctor appointment and listen to what the doc say then go from there.

I would like to say though I'm very happy that some of you have chosen to stay attached to the board. Even if it's just to check in once in a while. I said it before and I'll say it again. I really hope someday we can all just find an area in this world where we can just meet face-to-face! Wouldn't that be the coolest?!!

Huggs to you all out there!! 🤗

Ingerp, keep us posted sorry u even have to deal with something. Sending good vibes your way..

I agree with Deb and Life lets go to Frogs place!!

Went to my follow up today from Surgery.. good news I don't have to be back for a year. Since I see other team members there and I still under treatment. Bad news Ive got the start of lymphedmea in my breast, and need to see a specialist. I noticed that after I take my bra off I have bra indentations on my boob.. they want me to get in before it gets bad, and stop wearing bras, switching back to sports bras again.. just when I think Im starting to feel a little sexy. Also they want me to start Physical therapy again since the webbing is a little tight. But overall im feeling good

This coming weekend I'll have both grandbabies all weekend while thier mom and dad go to the races..wish me luck!!

Btw: I'm shaving my pale legs with black random hairs...

urdrago so sorry about the LE. I think that would SUCK. I'm sure getting on it early will help, but very sorry that your BC gift keeps on giving. :'( But hooray for grandbabies (although I bet you'll be ready for a nap after they leave. . . )

Hi everyone, I'm playing catch up...

Duffy, congrats on the 23-minute-straight run. I finally gave up and registered for a 10k in August with my niece. I need a goal or my lazy butt stays parked on the couch. Just tried the treadmill, which is in the middle of an update, so I decided the universe was telling me to sit back down. We've had a ton of rain the past few days so I haven't walked since Friday (at least I'm walking).

Life, I hope you're having fun in Vegas! Win big so you can quit your cleaning job. ;)

    Ingerp, the pups are ADORABLE!

Urdrago, are you still functional after having grandbabies all weekend, lol? I bet you enjoyed it, regardless... So sorry to hear about the lymphedema, though.

Nothing new here - I'm off to see Rocketman and have dinner with a friend tonight. Enjoy your Sunday!

    hey everyone,

Urdrago I hope you feel better. Good idea to stay ahead of things and get PT

    Ingerp, cute pups!

LIFE, sound like u are having a ball in Vegas!

GAW, sounds like a fun evening!

Tried blowdrying and flat ironing my hair. Took forever to dry cuz I have so much thick hair. Only area that straightened out was at the crown. Total waste of time and I looked rediculous. I'll use that time to sleep in and try again in a month. One year on AI this week. Time marches on doesnt it?

Hope everyone is doing well. Hugs deb

I just plucked out one of my hairs to measure it. Only 2.25” long. I’m getting impatient for some more length. It’s going to be a long summer. <sigh>
