Jo...I have used the hal higdon plans on his website halhigdon.com . Very good plans and for all levels. If you are looking for more support and community I would recommend looking at anothermotherrunner.com they have training plans under train like a mother. They cost money but are easy to follow, for all levels, very detailed, fun and I love the community aspect of them. There is a private facebook page for the plan you are using and a coach to answer questions. If you have any more questions you can pm me on here. By the way you are lucky to have so many races to choose from. In midwest we have racing season from April to Oct. Can't always count on the weather during the other months.

Ran 3 miles after work...47* , sunny and no wind! Perfect running temps! Finished off the day with 40 min of an work and yoga.

Paid bills, tried to catch up on the papers. raked leaves, ran errands, walked the puppies ans right after I dropped them off a friend called to see if I wanted to take a walk, so I ended up taking two (as Runner said, it was a gorgeous day & around here those are not to be taken for granted at this time of the year). My Book Club meeting was tonight so my post-vacation diet will have to begin tomorrow.

Finally back to some semblance of a "normal" existence after our wonderful fantabulous trip to Tennessee and then I went to Malibu for a few days for a wedding, you just don't realize that yes Mailbu is by the sea but it is also in the Santa Monica mountain range and my poor car didn't like all those trips up and down and round those zig zaggy hills but it was a beautiful wedding.

Karen I an so sorry to hear about the new diagnosis, keep us posted on what they find out. Wonderland I 2nd what TH said about your artwork going on to canvas, you really should do it as you are truly talented. LB love the picture. Nats glad you have our PT sorted out and lucky DH that book sounds like it would be an interesting read. Ruth your trip to your sisters looks like it was filled with fun and lots of puppy love, he pup sure is beautiful and Runnermum sorry about your pups diagnosis.

Last night did a Sprint class, unfortunately they are pulling the program from that gym but hopefully it is going into the one right down the street from me so I won't have to drive. Monday night I ventured back to my Cardio Dance Party class and dang it woke up yesterday morning with my hip screaming, ughhhhh there were crazy moves twisting your foot in and out and one where you walk forward taking your opposite elbow to your your opposite knee and I think they are the moves that I have to avoid, too bad cause I love to dance but I think I'll be modifing that class from now on, then after the class I went to Costco and bought myself a lovely soft "lounge" suit for putting on after the gym on cold nights, well that is if we ever get any cold nights, still warm here and the Santa Ana winds don't help. When I was on my last leg home from Nashville I flew out of Las Vegas to Orange County, the ride is usually just over an hour but we had the Santa Anas bhind us buffeting us around and we did the journey in 35 minutes let me tell you it was a very rocky fast ride Bawling

it's DS's 19th Birthday. My cousin and brother took him out for dinner last year when he was a freshman and she sent me a photo from last year. I hadn't realized how much he has matured. He's handsome now, no longer cute!

Still no job for DH. Hopefully he's not too frustrated. I started a new yoga class. I know yoga is good for me, but the whole time I am looking at the clock hoping it will be over. I don't enjoy it like I do tennis or other things! Have a good week!

runnermum-thanks. I will check out the halhigdon site. I dont mind paying for good instruction. I need the extra push and motivation to train properly for a half marathon. I am definitely stuck at eight and a half miles. I'm not concerned about speed I just want to complete it . We have races every weekend here. The only time races are cancelled here if there's a thunderstorm or hurricane in the area. Lol. If I need help or gets stuck I'll p.m. you. Thanks a lot

Ginger- wow. I wish I was in your classroom. A once-in-a-lifetime experience those kids will never forget.

2fun- I've done a lot of yoga through the years. I usually enjoy the first 15 to 20 minutes but after that I want out of there. Strangely enough I enjoy meditation and meditate almost every evening for 20 to 30 minutes. They started offering goat yoga here. One of my friends invited me and I told her I didn't like being around goats under the best of circumstances and I have no interest doing yoga with a goat. Lol

Hi ladies, we have had sad news here. DH's sister died unexpectedly last evening. She had a knee replacement surgery in the morning, ate a good lunch, DH called her about 6:00 to chat, her daughter stayed with her until about 7:30 pm; the nurses checked on her at 8:00 and when they went back at 9:00 she was dead. They are suspecting a blood clot. So......not a lot of sleep here last night, and some sad days ahead. I did go walking with my Wednesday Women this morning & went to Dance2Fit tonight. I do better when I'm moving, moving, moving. Hugs to all. Carpe Diem.

ruth- I'm so sorry for your unexpected loss. What is shock for you and your family! Some of us feel we know members of your family through your pictures and conversations you share on these threads. When I'm dealing with a loss moving helps me a great deal. For myself it doesn't matter if it's cleaning or exercise I just tell myself keep moving. It's one of the few times my house will be immaculate. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Oh, Ruth! What a horrible shock, my condolences for your family's loss. My brother also recently had a knee replacement and had an infection for which he had to be several days in isolation. That was nerve-wracking enough but your SIL seemed to have had no warning of anything.

2Fun, Happy Birthday to DS! Ginger, awesome experience!

Jo, how about dog yoga? We just got our new dog from the shelter and am looking for ways to be creative with her regarding exercise. I do get some upper body work with all the pulling but need to do more today. Salsa tonight.

Oh Ruth, I am so very sorry. I can't even imagine. Condolences and strength to all of you. Will be thinking of you and your family.

Which is a reminder to all of us not to delay living.

I am finally over jet lag from my London where I had a fabulous time and reconnected with old friends. I did twist my foot so limped most of the time. Feet are now the same size once again. Still walked miles and miles each day.

Made my first loaf of bread in my new bread machine yesterday. I need a bit more practice, but results are delicious anyway. The goal is to feed myself much healthier and better-tasting bread. My new Cuisinart toaster oven also works like a charm.

Hopefully bicycle on Saturday as was foggy and chilly last weekend. I have to see all the trees and colors. Work day today.... - Claire

Ruth - I’m so sorry. Knee replacements seem almost routine now, yet we forget there’s always a risk with any surgery. Send our love to your wonderful DH.

Linda - I’m so sorry about your health news. It’s rough to have something knock you back on your heels like that. Sending hugs.

Just got back from a tour of Gettysburg given by Ed Bearrs, one of the foremost authorities on the Civil War. He’s such an expert that he was featured in Ken Burns’ Civil War series. Ed is 95 now, and this is the last tour he plans on giving, so we were lucky to be included. The focus of the tour was Pickett’s Charge - DH’s GGGrandfather was killed at Gettysburg during Pickett’s Charge,so to hear Ed’s description of it was a thrill. And at 95 he still gets around - most of us had a hard time keeping up with him as we walked the path of the charge!

Thanks for your kind words ladies. My niece asked if I had any pictures of her mom I could contribute for a collage. Those who have traveled with me, KNOW that I have tons of pictures! I spent much of the day pouring over old photo albums & trying to pick just a few (I could only narrow it down to 40). So that was a nostalgic task but it brought back lots of good memories.

I went to Zumba this morning and wish that I could have gone to yoga tonight, but I had other things I needed to do.

Nats, your Gettysburg tour sounds awesome. I am totally jealous!!!!

I felt inspired by Ruth yesterday...went to my usual 75 minute power yoga at lunch and then went BACK after school for a one hr Core class...two classes in one day! Have been trying to ramp up my exercise to increase strength and lose a couple of pounds before my exchange surgery which is now on the books, scheduled for Dec 17th...afterwards I'll be on the walk walk walk program for 5 weeks. Happy Friday. TT

Ruth, so very sorry for this loss. Condolences to the family. Karen, sorry for your latest news and praying that whatever it is will be manageable. Hugs to both of you.

Normal stuff as trying to get back into some kind of routine. Finally the weather has cooled, staying around the 70's during the day. AC turned off and windows open with ceiling fans.

    Later sculpted friends.

Lazy morning...didn't rush out of bed at the crack of down!! Felt so decadent to relax in the morning.

Booked my ticket for winter break to go visit my daughter #2....used cheapfareguru - they had the best rates and the best flight times....still awaiting eticket so hoping nothing falls through. Also booked the place we stayed this past summer.

Just about done cooking Shabbat dinner. Have a rum cake in the over. Now just to clean up the mess and I'm done.

Should probably go for a walk, but need to wait till cake is done and I just put it up 5 minutes ago.

Thanks for everyone's support - still waiting to get to make an appointment with nephrologist....not as worried today.

    Sweet dreams.

I went to Aqua Zumba this morning and have been house cleaning ever since while DH does yard work (I think I'm getting the better part of the deal). In just a bit we will be going to a high school volleyball game. One of the coaches is the 35 year old daughter of a friend of mine who was diagnosed with BC this summer. The players have been selling tee shirts and are going to have raffles, silent auctions etc. at the game tonight and all the proceeds will go to her and her family. Tough stuff.

SIL's visitation & prayer service is Sunday afternoon & the funeral is Monday morning. She lived 100 miles away so we will drive back and forth. We are babysitting 2 grand-dogs and 2 grand-cats this week while DS is on vacation in San Diego. As you know, you can leave cats for a couple days but not dogs.

ruth- sounds like a lot of travel time on the road. Be careful.

I was scheduled for a freaky 4 Miler this morning. Race time was 6 a.m. . I was dressed and ready to go at 5 a.m. when I realized it was still dark outside. Because of the large cataract in my right eye I'm not allowed to drive when it's dark. I was very disappointed. Most races don't begin until 7:30 but this was an exception because of the location. I'm scheduled for cataract surgery November 26th. When I get home from work this afternoon I'll go for a nice run. Keep moving guys.
