wonderland- another beautiful day here in Miami. I was planning on running a couple miles today but decided against it due to some soreness in my calves. So instead I walked 3 miles and did upper extremity strengthening exercises. I'm listening to Jennifer Hudson sing now. What a voice.

Nan-hoping for your tests to come out great.

Food Porn (if I lived by a beach I'd be really fat from all the eating, but have great legs from all the walking in the sand).image

Good morning - love the games politicians play - Former Gov Hickenlooper has made 3 trips to Iowa and when asked why he hasn't announced his run for presidency yet, he laughed and said he has to talk to everyone first and it/when time to make an announcement he will - Come on HIck, who are you fooling!!!

Supposed to warm up to 40s and 50s today and be windy, so most of the snow should melt - normal temps all week, till Friday with snow again!!! That is if weather forecasts can be counted on to be correct that far out!

Helping with SP interns interviews most of the day - 3 in the morning and only 1 in the afternoon, but of course that one is at 3pm

DH gets home today after being gone for a week - its been some time since he's traveled for a week - will good to have him back home.

Ruth - love the find your beach sign. Sounds like you're having a great time. Enjoy the rest of your trip and safe travels home.

    Have a good Monday :)

karen- former Governor Hickenlooper have been on all the talk shows recently including NPR. He's definitely going to run. What do you think of his job performance? Was he a good governor? This evening I'm going to use the elliptical and work on the balance ball.

Karen: I'm sure you're happy to have dh back home with you.

Good evening! Another pretty day. Highs in the upper 50s and blue sky. Had a fabulous walk/run.

A 'cold front' came through (which means it was cloudy, windy, and 69 degrees.....northern girls, feel free to laugh hysterically). I got a good workout walking against the wind, after which we went shopping the rest of the day.

I got an email saying that I 'passed' my recent mammogram. Happy 12th Anniversary to me!!

I am so laughing, Ruth. Saw a dude with the top down this morning. It must have been all of 34F. Off to NYC on the red eye tomorrow evening on personal business and a bit of regular business. Too much work action recently...and not nearly enough skiing.

    Happy twelfth!!!

I remember about 20 years ago when I visited my uncle in Fort Myers Beach. It was 63 degrees out and the water was a lot warmer. Can you guess who was the only one swimming????? He went pale when I swam around the channel markers.

I did give the Chilly Hilly a pass yesterday. I try not to do black ice conditions when cycling. This is on top of the work I needed to get out. Thankfully, the skiing should be fabulous when I get back.

Enjoy your time in Florida. Do you snorkel??? I find that is the most fun ever. - Claire

    Walked/ran this afternoon.

Quiet day here - can't believe that February is over tomorrow!!

Ruth - hope you made if home safely

50s tomorrow and then snow Friday night, Saturday and Sunday - not a whole lot predicted, but Sunday is will be in the teens...March is the snowiest month in Colorado - we need the moisture - but hope it stays in the mountains....The year my youngest daughter turned 5 (2003) we had a snow day every day - but they only called them daily till Thursday - blizzard - on her birthday we were outside playing in the snow in snow pants and t-shirts!!! The best birthday ever because everyone was home - and now she is turning 21 in 3 weeks!!!

    Sweet dreams

I am home in one piece. Yesterday was a long day of travel (with enough time in the Dallas airport to get in my 10,000 steps). I feel kind of 'groggy' but......I have a much needed haircut/color this morning and then we jump in the car and are off to cheer on our high school's Boys & Girls basketball teams in the opening round of the regional basketball tournament. No rest for the wicked!

*edited to add that I did 45 minutes on the treadmill after typing this post.

Dog napped the puppies, took them for a walk & now they are hanging out at my house. Mid-afternoon we will head back for the second day of the regional basketball tournaments. Our girl's team lost yesterday so are in the 'loser out' game, but our boys won so are in the semi-finals. Woo Hoo!

September 3rd a new Dr. Seuss book is being released - The Horse Museum. It was found in his home 21 years after is death. Art work by Picasso and others (forgot who the news just said).

Cold and snow is heading my way - lots for the mountains and thankfully less for Denver. Sunday morning it will be in single digits. Snow tonight and again tomorrow night and into Sunday. I've heard 7" and of course, weather forecasting is the only job that you can be wrong all the time!!!

DH mentioned maybe going out to a movie Saturday night, but I think we'll be staying home instead - Netflex - we've been watching Grace and Frankie so may binge watch it or find a good movie.

Stay warm and have a good Friday night and Saturday. Karen

    Popping in to say hello.

Ruth- love the pictures of the beach. It’s my happy place but seems so far away right now.

So sorry to read all the loss of friends that people have had in the past few weeks. Thinking of you all.

DH and I have joined a slimdown challenge at the Y. Our team name is Mission Slimpossible”. Must do 2-3 cardio and 2-3 strength training sessions each week and there’s a weekly weigh in. It has definitely motivated me to get there more often and I am beating my steps goal regularly. I had 19,000 steps on Thursday.

It’s snowing this morning and my favorite Zumba class was canceled. 😞 I hear we are getting more snow tomorrow night too. I am ready for Spring!

I'm met up with a friend & we walked/talked our way around the track at the fitness center for an hour. Our boys basketball team won last night (in a very close, exciting game) and is in the championship game tonight, so we are off to the game later this afternoon. I will need to get back to my toning next week!

It is single digits - only got a few inches of fluffy snow - but more is in the forecast for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a bundle up with snow pants and heavy down coat with down vest under it kind of walking day!!!

    Sweet dreams

Ginger, good luck with Mission Slimpossible. I am also looking forward to spring.

Ruth good luck to your team in the championships.

I hikedthe longest path around the still frozen-over lake yesterday. It was 30 degrees warm , I was behind on my exercise for the week, and I had a lot of stress to work off this week so I did the hour walk with DH.

Shoveled the driveway - 3500+K steps - just turned on the new its and its -4 with wind chill -15. Ruth, this sounds like weather in your neck of the woods. I was so bundled up that I actually got hot!! Mountains are getting snow measured in feet - great for the skiers. Warming up to 50s mid week and snow again next weekend - buts its Colorado and they frequently get the predictions wrong.

    Stay warm and safe everyone.

Thanks! All my birthdays are very, very happy!!!

I had a mini-blizzard at the Dairy Queen after lunch, went to Pound & Yoga this afternoon & the family is taking me out to dinner tonight so it will be a fun day. Last night, our basketball team won the regional championship in a close, exciting game. So many fans came over to it that there was a caravan of cars on the highway going home. We are a smaller school & rarely make it to the state tournament (the last time we won it all was 1993), so this is pretty exciting stuff.

Not to brag about how horrible our weather is, but the windchill is 32 BELOW at this very moment. Shocked

Hi, everyone! I haven't posted for a while, but I do drop in sometimes to see how everyone is doing, and I am amazed always at your strength and resilience and your determination not to let anything get in the way of being your best selves. That really helps me get moving when I don't particularly feel like it, so thanks to all of you for being good role models for someone who, left to her own devices, would probably spend too much time baking cookies and not enough time working off those cookie calories.

I'm coming up on the first anniversary of my diagnosis and on the whole, I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm still clumsy and slow (thanks to my chemo neuropathy), and I still don't have as much strength and stamina as I would like, but I am making progress. I can jog a little now without looking like I'm about to fall over, and even better, I can sit a trot on my horse Rosie with confidence that I'm not going to fall off. Fun fact: to a pedometer or a fitness tracker, a step is a step is a step. Therefore, if you are wearing one when riding, you can get credit for a LOT of steps. I am shameless enough to take advantage of that.

Today is a cold day in the Denver area, although not as bad as North Dakota! After clearing the driveway and the sidewalk with my trusty little Toro snowblower – I would usually shovel with only an inch or two on the ground, but the Toro is faster – I went over to the stable to check on Rosie and give her some carrots and an apple. She has a good winter coat, shelter from wind and wet weather, and plenty of hay to keep her internal furnace going, so she does fine in cold weather and actually likes it better than heat. It's us humans, with our almost hairless bodies, who have trouble with the cold. I was reminded of that as I stood in front of her pen watching her devour her treats. Even though I wasn't standing there more than five minutes, my toes were already sending up distress signals from inside my boots! So I think I will get my exercise today indoors, perhaps putting in some time on my exercise bike before doing some work with weights or my exercise ball. I might even do some of those "nice squats" that my trainer recommends so highly. And there is always vacuuming, which I guess counts as exercise of a sort . . . but I think squats are preferable to vacuuming. Actually, almost anything is preferable to vacuuming in my world.

    Stay warm,everyone!
