Colt45 - Thanks so much for continuing to bump this. I never tire of seeing it, and I'm sure it continues to be extremely helpful to many, as it was to me.

TY threetree. It’s been 10 years since I wrote that. I’m glad it’s still reaching people. I always like to check back in. I met so many incredible people here—as you are one.

Colt,
How are you & how is your wife? I would imagine that coming up to 10 years with this disease has been life changing for both of you. Have your little girls been impacted much? I hope they are lovely young ladies with a deep respect for their mom and the love shown by their dad.

jhl, so kind of you to ask. My family is well. It’s been 10.5 years since diagnosis. The girls are 18 and 14 now. They have some special challenges but overall are well. We are so blessed that life is back to *normal* regarding sibling rivalry and teenage daughters VS mom stuff. 😃 We are doing our best every day. Being a teenage girl these days is a tough deal.

Colt thank you for bumping this. I found this so incredibly moving, especially being a young mother of a 3 and 1 year old. I'm so pleased to see your family are doing well. Thank you for sharing so openly.

colt45: What beautiful words and loving kindness. You touched me deep in my heart. Please keep us up to date on your wife and let her know there is an International Band of Sisters here. My sanity would not have survived the first months of this evil disease without them.
No need to respond. I will assume you have read it and let her know.

colt45: I just realized your original post was 10 years ago. I am so happy for you, your wife and your lovely children. I can honestly say that 60 years ago it was not a fun time for me or my parents when I was a teen. It was love and forbearance that got us through all the door slamming and worse :-)

HI (((Colt45))) So good to see you on the Boards and read your letter. You've always been such a positive supportive member of the Community. Think of you and your wife often and look for you when I visit the Boards. How's your wife doing?…I'm still here, just made 13 years (((Hugs))) and prayers, take care, Maureen1

Hi Maureen! Good to hear from you. We are well. My wife is 13 years out, too. Girls are now 21 and 17. My wife has a little over a year to go before she retires. I may never retire! 😀 I can’t believe it’s been 13 years. I can vividly recall all of the people/ angels that God put in our path to help us get through those really tough early days. You are definitely one of those angels. I keep coming back because I know the thing we needed most back then was HOPE. Everyone needs hope. I want people just starting their journey to have that hope that we so desperately needed. God bless you and your family. We’ve done some traveling over the recent years. Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Iceland, Alaska, Hollywood, Seattle…
Planning to go to Greece. How about you? What are you up to?

threetree, how are you? It’s always nice to hear from you. Thank you for the continued encouragement to bump this post. I pray for all of the sisters here every day. People working through something hard ought to know that there is a world of support for them. Always. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about everyone dealing with this. I recently lost a lifelong friend who passed (non-cancer issue) thinking no one cared. He was wrong. There was such a kind outpouring for him. He never knew how beloved he was in life. I believe he knows now… but he should have basked in that when he was still living. People ought to know they have love and support.
