Dense breasts

Are you like me? What endocrine therapy did you follow or are you following? Pre- or perimenopausal, stage 1, grade 1, low risk, node-negative, no genetic risk, screen detected ladies, let's hear from you! What were you prescribed and how have you changed it up over your therapy? What has worked for you? I've seen four…

I am new to this forum and want to share my experience so far at this very early stage. I went in for surgery in mid-April for a lumpectomy / excisional biopsy) of what was previously diagnosed per biopsy as ADH (atypical ductal hyperplasia) which is a benign condition. Pathology of removed tumor upgraded me to IDC ( ER+/…

Twelve years ago I had spontaneous nipple discharge from my right breast. Following a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy, I ended up having a lumpectomy to remove an intraductal papilloma. All was good until 6 month after the surgery and the spontaneous discharge started again and continues still now, 12 years later. No…

Hi everyone, I am new here and just went through a roller coaster with my breast exams over the past week. Hoping to get some help and support from this group. I am 38 and just finished breastfeeding my 1 yr old. I did my first mammogram last Friday and got callback for diagnostic mammogram followed by ultrasound. I was…

Hello, My dr. wants me to get a breast MRI which uses gadolinium. I am very afraid of this as my dad had a cardiac arrest during contrast and also in addition to BC in my family there's a lot of Parkinsons. I also have autoimmune issues! Basically…I don't need any more problems. The dr will not allow me to have it without…

Hi all, long post to give context but the TLDR is — what to do about a large lump with high-risk/atypical findings (but not necessarily malignant) and positive-margins in one breast five years after early stage cancer in the other breast? Five years ago, I had a lumpectomy and radiation for stage 1 ER/PR-negative cancer in…

Since mid September I have been having sensitive nipples and my breasts seem to have fallen. I am 75 years old so fallen breasts are bound to happen. I can’t seem to get comfortable because of how my nipples are feeling. What I want to ask is are sensitive/tender nipples a symptom of breast cancer? I don’t have any…

For the last 6 months I have been experiencing a strange shooting pain sensation on my left side, right between my armpit and my breast and it would radiate through my breast. I ended up going to the ER because I thought that I was having a heart attack. I am almost 37 years old. The ER told me I had inflammation in my…

Hello Friends:💐 It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in. I’m curious how my 2017 friends are doing. Have you had a recurrence? Is all going well? I’d love to know how everyone from 2017 is doing. I’m doing well. This site has been a huge support to me and I just want to thank you all again for your support. I look forward…

Looking for anyone with shared experience. From my 1st mammogram 15 years ago at 40, I have had issues. Multiple biopsies and lumpectomies, tons of scar tissue as a result. I have extremely dense breast tissue, complex cysts, breast disease, multiple bilateral papillomas and just recently diagnosed with LCIS. I do not have…

I'll try to keep the background as short as possible—unfortunately, it is a bit of a twisted tale. I had a screening breast MRI in Sept. last year. It came back BI-RADS 5 (greater than 95% likely cancer). The targeted US showed a rather benign-looking nodule that was presumed to be the one seen on the MRI. An US-guided…

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate hearing from others in a similar situation. I’m in my early 40s, no kids, not close to menopause, and recently had a lumpectomy for a 12 mm, grade 1, ER+/PR+ HER2- IDC (plus a small area of DCIS). Margins were clear, and there was no lymph node involvement. My Ki-67 is low (10%), and I’ve…

Hi community. I'm posting since I haven't found a similar case yet. I opted out on surgery and chemo (too late), and it's been a good run for 7 years. The LE came on slowly to rt arm, dr diagnosed. Now its in both feet, then the left breast just swelled in size. No real noticeable discoloration. Has anyone else had LE…

Hi All, Just looking to connect with people who may have had similar experiences or diagnosis. I went for my first breast check, age 32 due to a concern on my right side. This was clear on imaging, however the ultrasound found architectual distortion on the left. This lead to a mammogram, mri, core biopsy and lumpectomy.…

I'm 40 and got my first screening mammogram (3D) a few days ago. They found a "small lateral asymmetry best seen on CC tomosynthesis" on my left breast. They didn't see any microcalcifications. They captured a few extra images, so I'm guessing they saw it on multiple ones. The BIRADS score is 0, which means they need…

I’m 37, had a mammogram & ultrasound earlier this month due to changes in my right breast not responding to dermatological treatment (persistent itching, raised bump/rash, discharge). The 2 findings were Birads 4 (no letter): a small mass in the upper outer quadrant (10:00, U.S. biopsy), and the other a skin-related lump…

Hi Just wondering if there is anyone that is dealing with PASH and would love to discuss whom they are seeing and what direction their surgeon is taking. If you know of other websites or physicians that deal with PASH in the Chicago or the NorthShore area would like if you could provide that info. Found lump two years ago,…

I'm looking for opinions or similar situations. Every year I get my mammo and since cancer they appear hypervigilant. The first few years they wanted to biopsy everything they saw. I had a couple of bad experience with the first two biopsies so I later took charge and said no if it was something that could be watched.…

Hi everyone. I'm starting this topic because I haven't found a similar one to help answer questions and offer me advice. I know I'm a rare case managing my own palliative care, in Asia, while under the care of a great doctor who's using both eastern and western medical traditions. I'm on hormone therapy (Tamoxifen then…

All my life I have tried to leave healthy , avoid junk food , exercise even if I do not enjoy it, do everything to support my immune system and all that shebang. I watched my mom die from breast cancer at the age of 40 and now here I am. Late October , I felt a dull ache in my right best that woke me up in the middle of…

Can anyone recommend some top surgical oncologists for breast cancer in the NYC area? I appreciate it in advance.

My biopsy confirms that I have Invasive Mammary Carcinoma in my right breast, which is hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative, and a high Ki-67 proliferation rate of over 80%. Can someone tell me more about that Ki-67 number? Is it normal? Also the doctor initially said it was only one centimeter but the report…

I cant stop thinking the worse. So in December I noticed I had some swelling and firmer breast tissue in the tail of spence area almost looked like axillary breast tissue. I had a baby a year ago so my boobs are not what they once were. Ever since becoming a Mom I have huge anxiety with my health and so booked in for an…

My MO would like me to start an AI and ovarian suppression/removal. I am 42. Onc score was 31 for IDC with lobular component. No nodes. I understand that I do have a risk of recurrence but I also value an active lifestyle. I had no question mentally regarding the mastectomy and chemo. I do not feel peaceful about the…

Adding MRI to 3D Mammograms May Save Lives of Women With Extremely Dense Breasts Sep 25, 2024 While the benefits of supplemental screening are clear, the additional screenings may also lead to more false alarms, which can take a financial and emotional toll on people. Read more…

Hello everyone! I am mostly looking to hear of similar stories and to get advice for monitoring strategies. A brief background of my history: Don't have much breast cancer family history, besides my grandmother who got diagnosed when she was around late 70s. I found a lump in my breast when I was 14, further testing with…

When I have looked online at the forums here and on other websites, I'm frequently seeing people who mention being high risk because they have a lifetime calculated risk somewhere between 20% and 45%. I'm not seeing anyone mentioning a risk higher than that. I have a Tyrer-Cuzick model 73.2% calculated lifetime risk. I…

Hi, this is for anyone who has had abnormal swelling - and I’m not saying I think it’s cancer but I know a lot of you have had other breast abnormalities, too. The area above my breast from my nipple to shoulder/clavicle has been swelling for the past year and I’ve had some clear discharge. I finally made an appointment…

TNBC stage 4 Ductal metastatic 6.9 cm tumor in right armpit breast tissue, 3 cm on right breast, clavicle, possibly groin left side. Palliative taxol chemo & immunotherapy since the large one in my armpit is protruding out & would grow outside of my skin. 6 mo-1.5 yrs is what they gave me. Diagnosed 6/2024. Just finished…

I was recently diagnosed via an unconventional route, dermatology, due to spots on my nipples. I've since seen a surgical oncologist and a medical oncologist. Initial thoughts were likely stage one as they could feel no swelling in my lymph nodes and my mammogram and ultrasound were clear. But my MRI came back a couple…
