Talk with others about how to lower your risk of lymphedema and how to manage it if you've been diagnosed with this side effect of treatment.
Edited since LE diagnosis confirmed... I have seen a LANA-certified PT and gotten my fist full of handouts, plus advised to buy a low-compression sleeve "just in case." I had an hour of hands-on instruction for self Manual Lymph Drainage but I still feel like somehow I'm not doing it right. I get more confused by the…
Hi all, Curious how many sleeves everyone has at one time. I've been told that you should replace them every 6 months but I can't even imagine doing that with the cost! They say you should have multiple sleeves so when one is being washed, you have another. And then replace them after 6 months? Just curious what everyone's…
I'm about to undergo hip replacement surgery and I know an IV will be placed and BP will be monitored at the same time. I have lymphedema in one arm. How is this accomplished when one arm should have neither an IV nor a BP cuff? Thanks.
I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in 2008. I had a bilateral mastectomy and lymph nodes removed (a few did test positive). I underwent chemo, radiation and reconstruction. Unfortunately, my original reconstruction with implants failed and so I then had a DIEP flap. I do not allow blood drawers, IVs or BP on…
What detergent do you use to wash the garments? How do you keep the gauntlet clean while working in the kitchen or cleaning at home as well as being out and about? Do you remove the gauntlet while preparing meals etc. of is there another item to wear over them? I tried a large rubber glove but to get a size to easily fit…
Hi, I am presently undergoing chemotherapy for a Triple-negative Right Breast Cancer. Very soon, I will have to decide if I undergo a "Lymphadenectomy"! I have been reading a lot about the side effects would worries me a lot - but I understand that it's a lose-lose situation. Because, if I don't undergo a "Lymphadenectomy"…
Background: I do not have lymphedema post lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removal (May 2023). However I did end up with painful cording a few weeks after surgery which subsided with physio and massage. The lymphedema specialist (who I proactively consulted) said the arm sleeve might be beneficial and wouldn’t hurt…
I recently traveled to the University of Iowa to meet with Dr. Wei Chen a supermirosurgeon/plastic surgeon. I was referred to him by my PS. I had the Indocyanine Green Lymphography done and was amazed at what was seen both in my healthy arm and diseased arm. I was diagnosed under the Campisi Staging at Stage 2 as my LE is,…

Dear all, It's been nearly 10 years since my lumpectomy. I had 11 nodes removed total. Since then I've been religious about using my left arm (lumpectomy done on right) for everything-blood draws, BP cuffs, vaccines (including Covid), etc. I should add I never had any sign of lymphedema, ever. I'm in great physical shape…
