Hi And I’m sorry to be joining this group. Six days ago had surgery for 2.5mm lump and sentinal node biopsy. I still have swelling around the incision and a lot of soreness. Don’t have a review until another four days and wondered if this was normal? Have good arm movement. Also wondered if anyone had used a Shakti mat. I…

Anyone with Lymphedema in both arms?
Now that I have been diagnosed with breast cancer for a third time, in opposite breast, I am so worried about getting lymphedema in both arms. I have one reconstructed breast, will have second mastectomy scheduled in October with SNB and possibly more node removal. Reconstruction with tissue expander and implant. Ugh. I…

Sub-clinical lymphedema?
I had a Sentinel node biopsy, radiation along with a lumpectomy on the right side three years ago. I am right handed. After treatment I completed the Livestrong program. My upper body has never been the strongest, but I had my pre-surgery strength on my right side. I actually went back packing in Croatia 3 weeks after…

Lymphedema and Medicare
I just got home from what was supposed to be my second therapy for breast cancer. I actually had no therapy at the first session, just a consultation with the therapist. Apparently Medicare will not pay anything towards garments. I can't afford them and can't bring myself to use hand outs or funds set up for people who…

Tingling foot and tightness and swelling in lower leg
Hi I had a lumpectomy, intraoperative radiotherapy and senital lymph node biopsy 2 weeks ago. Now I have tightening and tingling in my foot and a swelling on my lower leg on the side I was operated on. Hello, Does anyone have any comment on "Flexitouch Plus" vs "Lympha Press Optimal Plus" sequential compression pump? LymphaTouch
Are there any updates/personal experiences with the LymphaTouch machine? It appears to use "cupping" type treatment and I see Youtube videos by LE massage therapists on how to use the device. According to the website, "Lymphatouch is a medical device that can be used for lymphatic drainage and lymphedema. It uses negative…

Summer strategies?
Hi, I've had lymphedema for several years, but last summer it got worse and I had the massage and wrapping and started wearing a Tribute night sleeve and the custom flat knit sleeve during the day, so compression pretty much 24/7 for six months. I'm sorry, I just can't see wearing this heavy, ugly flat knit sleeve out in…

Does Lyphedema spread?
Hi ladies, Do you know if arm lyphedema can spread to the leg? I had a total masectomy last year and had 1 sentinel node removed. I was diagnozed with lyphedema in the right arm 3 months later. Earlier this year, I had DIEP flap reconstruction. Just 1 month after the surgery, my right leg starts to swell. My right toes get…

Constant fear of lymphedema--VENT
Ok, lumpectomy + 3 nodes removed, and radiation to ALL the lymph nodes. I have already seen a lymphedema therapist twice as part of an ongoing monitoring program (she takes measurements every 3 months or so). No swelling yet. Yet I live in <<constant>> fear of lymphedema. The list of precautions is almost overwhelming,…

Truncal Lymphedema - can it make ribs jut out/change shape?
13-14 months ago I had mastectomy, no reconstruction, 2 nodes taken. I was 35. I had a slight bout of swelling 2.5 months (March) after surgery due to going on a long walk while wearing a backpack, but it resolved itself. It felt more like fluid.... 9 months after surgery (August) I was traveling and in a city getting…

Tendonitis or Lymphedema?
Background: bilateral mastectomy in June. Left sentinel node removed. For the past 7-8 weeks I’ve been having pain in my left forearm/elbow/bicep. I originally thought it was tendonitis but last night my forearm was swollen. If my elbow is bent it’s not bad but it hurts to straighten or hold anything. I also have a puffy…

Looking for glove recommendation
First off, sorry to invade the lymphedema board with my non-lymphedema question, but I figured if anyone would have an answer for me, it would be you ladies. I started having neuropathy symptoms with my first dose of Taxol, even with cold therapy. I’ve been reading everything I could find about preventing the development…

Abandon LE precautions? Not me!
A discussion in the Bone Mets topic on Stage IV forum regarding lymphedema was veering away from the central focus of that board so I announced that it should be moved here. Basically, I shared my Zometa infusion protocol and got this response: “There's no evidence that being at risk for or having lymphedema means you…

Circaid Reduction Kit
I have the Circaid Reduction kit and have been trying to determine how tight to make the velcro straps. Does anybody else have this? If so, to what number do you tighten to? I started at a 1 but didn't see much improvement so went up to a 2. I'm a bit nervous to make it any tighter than that.

Prophylactic Mastectomy and LE... Your Opinion, Please
I had a single mastectomy last August with ALND (due to IBC). 32 nodes removed and none of them cancerous...ack. Concurrently I had a lymphovenous bypass with 4 good "connections." So far I'm doing well but I have started the Lebed opening and learned MLD from a LE PT "just in case." My plan was to have a prophylactic…

Hi, all, I've mainly been lurking, but have been finding this group so helpful. Thanks for all the great info and support everyone gives each other.
