Bean, just kinda woke up again...you are so kind. I took some kinda cough medicine out of a bottle my DH brought me, and now a little Rx sleeping tablet. I will be out soon. I am going to see if I can dream about all my wonderful friends. Sweet, or Sweat Dreams!

Feel better HD, we will hold off on that party bus for you...

......Hold the bus,or send it back in a little bit!!! Got sidetracked from the garage dumpstering today and somehow ended up in the kitchen.....was looking for something and kept seeing crap that needed to be tossed! OMG--the things I have found--and thrown away!!! I found a plastic rolling pin tucked away--I remember it.......the be all and end off of ALL rolling pins! You screwed the end off and filled it with ice cubes--guaranteed to roll out the most perfect, flaky pie crust ever........huh? WTF--I must have been drunk when I bought it since I haven't tried to make pie crust EVER!!!!! Right into the trash bag THAT went!! LOL...so far,, have filled 3 big black trash bags with total crap....and have barely got started. Now, I gotta go put all my spices back in the now weeded out, cleaned cabinet--and, by God!--they will be in alpha order!!!!
Pretty sure this steroid high will be over too quick and I will have a major crash--in the meantime, I'm on a roll!!!!
Claire--hope you get some good skiing days in this year. dH and I both learned to ski in our previous lives. dH learned when living in Alaska years ago. He was a magnificent skier and as at home on a pair of skis on any mountain as he was in a pair of tennis shoes. I, on the other hand, was AWFUL, but did try for some years to ski with him....many "ski" trips to Colorado over the years. Much discussion was had, but all our ski things went into the dumpster last week! At this time in our life, been there--done that--and we are totally happy with sun and sand at this stage. Will look forward to hearing/seeing pics if you get the chance.
Miz Hunky--I did NOT drool on anything!!! Please haul your tired butt to the dr--ASAP!!!! Don't rely on some leftover antibiotics you've got laying around!!!!! I am feeling a tad better after a week of shots/antibiotics, but am nowhere near feeling very good! Don't jack around with this!!!
gotta get those spices back in the cabinet--then, I'm ready to PAR-TAY!!!!!
and,,,,,,ohhhhh, Wahine--what an absolute perfect, hysterical cartoon!!!! How on earth do you guys find the most wonderful things to post????? I am in awe!!!!
big HUGGGSSSSSS to ALL!!!!!
looking forward to a Terrific Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my prized photos is of me doing some x-country skiing at Stevens Pass last March. A bit out of focus, but definitely showed that I had it. Did much better than my friend Jim that day. He weenied out and went back to the warming hut. I finished the 5 miles.
Did I mention that this was during 4 of 6 Taxol??? Screwed the study researchers' brains on a bit. I was supposed to be home moaning in pain. Drove the 2 hours each way too. Have to admit that I did crash when I got home.
Then there was the tale about the interim oncologist who asked me if I was having any "balance problems". I pointed out that I had cycled 30 miles the day before. This was at the very end of chemo.
I come alive during winter, so can't wait to ski.
Am PAR-TAYed out right now. Made myself a yummy dinner of chicken breasts with dried wild mushroom sauce. An experiment, so glad I have a second one. Need to clean up now.
Squash custard is just divine. Counts as a veggie serving too. A vegetable that is sweet when roasted. Are you listening Beans???
Slaying it counts as upper body exercise.
Of course, a good dinner is a barbaric occasion w/o out the right wine. Yes, it complements the squash custard nicely. Just checked.
Junie.....sorry about dumping the ski stuff. But you can always rent if you get the urge. I am looking foward to getting my money's worth out of a x-country season ticket. Need to repair the zip on my Prada pants. Nothing like something fab to show off my toned legs.
Too much rough stuff going on here. Got a mysterious bruise on my pubic bone. Told Main Squeeze that his technique needs a bit of "refinement". More likely a bicycle injury.....
I am NOT posting pictures of this one.
Now back to clean up the kitchen. Oh well. Will have great dreams of firemen and "bruises".

I'm in!!!!! PAR-TAAAY!!!!! Not sure what he does but thought he might offer some form of entertainment!.........send the bus around we're waiting!!!!!

Good Morning Loungettes! Hope everyone is having gawgeous day. It is a beautiful day here! Today is our anniversary, and also the day the installers will be here putting in our new K countertops, new sinks, new faucets, new disposal. Hopefully they won't take ALL day, as I want to take our dogs for a walk on the mountain....we so rarely think of doing that and its just a few minutes away. Then out for a nice dinner tonight! DH got me a dz long stemmed red roses....he should've thought of adding 1 more, since its our 13th! But they're beautiful.
Nice partay last night, and glad to see you had a good addition chrissy! Love your comment "Not sure what he does....."......you know we will think of *something* he can do for us....lol. Hope you gals with the creeping crud will feel much better today....and all that are undergoing tx will do well. What a fun party bus we have here!!!
ChEARS, Chairs, Chores, and Countertops!!!

Hi all,
My computers all decided to desert me and act up at the same time. have to figure what do as kiddos need them for homework...
Liesl isn't getting better.... I hear about her biopsies this afternoon. She is throwing up all the time and can't keep food down. Last night threw up several times even though it had been hours since she last ate. She is so sweet she doesn't want to throw up on the bed or even in the house so she treis so hard to make it outside. This morning threw up in her chair that keeps her vertical to eat. It isn't working. She is so thin I can see her backbone, hips and all her ribs. Don't know how I'm going to face this..... Thanks for letting me share since obviously way off topic.

So very sorry Stanzie. You know we are all here for you, and wish we could do something to help. Sending gentle (((hugs))) to Liesl as I don't want to hurt her, and regular big hugs to you (((HUGS))).

Claire - what are you pairing with squash custard? A nice sauvignon blanc or riesling? Are you going to share the recipe? I just love roasted pumpkin and butternut squash -- it's like dessert. I got a mysterious bruise too. Mine is on the inside calf of my left leg and it's very dark and the size of a baseball. DH wants me to see a doctor but the last time he made me do that the doc thought I was crazy. I don't remember having enough fun to cause bruising.
Chrissy - your date is welcome on the bus anytime.
Happy anniversary to Kathy!
Hugs for Stanzie and Liesl.

I'm playing beautiful classical music for the contractors next door. So much nicer than hammering and the loud, scratchy rock and roll their radio was putting out. I'm sure they'll thank me.
And something nice for my classy drinkin buddies:
Mozart Chocolate Liqueur
2 parts Mozart Chocolate Liqueur
2 parts vodka
Shake well with no less than 6 ice cubes and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cocktail cherry, and serve.
Serve in "Cocktail Glass"0 -
Never too early for a little Mozart Looks yummy.

Raincitygirl - I like how in my tag line I was so dopey I dint quite get the r on your...I'm sorry you gotta take em! I'm off for 2 weeks but I won't gloat!! No great news here anyway as I get smashed on Thurs and start tanning next Tues. It makes me want a big boozy drink to drown my anxiety. Hope you are feeling good and drinking tons of fluids.
HD - I just hope you are feeling a bit better at the p-fountain, me tink u need nappy time at home and no workey time (F the Job in uder wurds, take care of #1 and don't step in #2). I'm worried about you and what's up with your sherona??
NM - glad Sadie's lampshade is working, good news, she's getting you trained. Great DOTD Dog at Signpost, but what is Lillet Blanc? LOL at the "dog rack" ‘toon.
Claire - I always crave salt...BTW, last night was better for food, maybe just excited to have 2 weeks off?? I have to admit I dint get a jog in...DH started a "chatty cathy" thing that wouldn't end and it got late, and excuses, excuses, I did drag him for a long walk, but he wore shorts and was freezing the whole time, now he got sicky poo and I'm feeding him Vit C and echinacea tea...it's pouring rain 2day n now I'm terrified of getting sicky poo...I'm bundled up inside with the heater on and drinking Echinacea tea too. Waaaaaaahhh!!
Wahine - ROTFLMAO at the doggy ‘toon. Oh my that's a good one and I love your new tag line. I was thinking of a new one for me all mushy and spiritual-like, but "piss on it and walk away" really hits the spot!! Yeah, and the remote!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!! Glad your weather is nice, it sucks here! And big ol Happy Anniversary to you!! Roses are so nice, good going to your DH!
Junie - did you find a chia pet in your crap or a salad spinner??? LOL - I confess that I once bought a seal-a-meal ages ago...have no idea how long ago that went in the dumpster. Isn't throwing stuff out fun???? Wonder where it all goes??? Alpha order, man, that sounds AR!
Claire - Good for you for showing that fun life goes on during chemo. I do find the most annoying thing is the fried brain and sleepy-dopey thing. You have so much energy!! Now I'm going to drag me out again today even in this awful weather. Your veggies sound awful, no offense...DH was trying to make me puke talking fish tacos and turkey meat balls and all kinds of weird food, I laughed so hard I almost puked. Thanks for sharing about your pubic bone -LOL!!! Can I share about mine? Well, it's been thinning like my head!
Chrissy - he looks like the greeter and I bet he'd help a girl in need get to the P-fountain!!
Stanzie - Man, I'm sorry to hear about Liesl, reminds me of my old adorable orange tabby cat, it was so awful to see him throw everything up - he would look at me like he was asking for help and it just broke my heart. He got really thin too. I'm so sorry, I hope you are doing okay.
AStorm - Love the Mozart Chocolate Liqueur, now that should taste exquisite and I'm heading straight to the bar to pick one or a dozen up!

LOL AStorm about playing music you know the contractors would not like....LMAO!!!! I did something when the flooring guys were installing last week...they had oldies on and I mentioned how I like the oldies music, but usually the workers put on country music, and I only like a couple of those songs. I think he didn't hear all I said, as right after that he changed it to a country station..lol I think he thought that is what I wanted!! And even when they went to lunch, they left their darn huge radio on to that country station...I wished I had ear plugs! Thank god the next day they started out with oldies.....and I didn't say a word. You mentioned having a large bruise on your leg that you don't know how it got there....well you do a lot of projects like I do, and I often run into things and go "Ow!", but keep on going and later on cannot for the life of me remember when it happened. I am hoping that is what happened to you, and not have it be anything serious.
That Mozart chocolate liqueur looks yummy scrumptalicious!!! Reminds me when we went to Salzburg and loved that city, but oh boy all the Mozart stuff they sold everywhere! Everything had his picture on it...chocolate, souvenirs, etc. Well, the countertop guys are done, and it looks soooo good. The plumber is still working though. Hope he gets done soon so we can start to enjoy our anniversary! Thanks for the nice wishes, Gail!
Beans, I was writing and missed your post! Thanks for your wishes too! Glad you like my sig....I guess I was feeling in a funky mood when I changed it!! Don't want to offend anyone though. Hope you can enjoy at least part of your time off.....does that mean you are still off for your birthday?

wahine - I will be off chemo for my bd then start again (last cycle!!!) the next day, but will start rads on the 16th so - at least I'm off everything (well, I do get smashed Thurs) until the 16th and I think the first part of rads isn't too bad...more fun ahead. More dog beers and cHairs!!

Why, Kathy! I am sending nothin but love to my blessed neighbors! There was no love in my heart last night. There was a large dog barking it's poor head off and all I could think about was all the neighbors assuming it was one of ours because the butt-head next door went around the block talking to everyone about "the problem" (skipped our house for some reason). Anyone would have to be dillusional to think a wiener or corgi could make that kind of noise, but still... I just knew they were all thinking about me and my darn dogs everytime that dog sounded off... Then I thought about the poor dog and how stressed it must be. DH laughed at me for thinking someone would accuse a wiener puppy and I had to smile... I thought, bark until your heart is content! It's not going to bother me and all the other neighbors have dogs so it probably doesn't bother them either. DH and I are conspiring to go to the new neighbors and encourage them all to get dogs. Maybe the neighborhood will become so dog-friendly that the dogless will need to move away... but today - nothin but love!
IN WITH THE DOGS!
... OUT WITH THE BUTTHEAD

AStorm - LMAO you are sooooo funny, love the pics and another great story!

First off, on a serious note, Stanzie, I feel so bad for you. I am sick, but your situation makes my heart ache. I don't have any great words....only that I understand.
This morning, I went to work late and had to leave early. I wish I had a great drug like Junie. I think I will follow chrissys fella to the fountain. You guys have all been so funny! I have had a hard time keeping up. I have PS appt tomorrow so he can look at my Sheroma, but I am wondering if I should cancel. I feel that crappy. Can't possibly respond to all the funnies you gals have posted but have loved em all.....even the offer of snot rags and coff drops. Sooo, I will keep reading and reading, and hope to get over this crud! I know it's nothin you other gals in trt are going through...but I am not liking it! cHairs, & Liesl Prayers! Hunkydory

Well darn HD, you get well Quick Like - I hope you can make that apt tomorrow! Sorry you feel crappy.
So for me, I had a day free of pills and I'm going to find a quiet place in the bar and knock back a few brandies, swirl the warm snifter and enjoy the aroma. I see some of you over at the p-fountain and I'll join you there thurs when I get smashed.
Luv n hugs n no mo bugs ~ Beans

BEANS--I did LOL!!! No chia pets, but yes, I have a salad spinner! Prob 95% of our salads are pre-bagged dump and toss kind, I do have a few that can only be made with fresh greens--do use that spinner once in awhile. It is really old and know there are newer/better models available, but this ol' thing has worked well for me for years!!! I shudder to think where all this "stuff" is going and how many generations are going to "pay" for all my trash!!! Hoping that rads won't be too bad--just keep thinking that you're marching right along--when I finished rads, I could raise my arm up in the "position" and on my boob was the most lovely, deeply tanned area that was perfectly square!!! it was just the daily pressure to be somewhere at the right time, day after day, that wore me out! Hang in there!!!
HynkyD--have you "hied" your butt to a dr yet??? Sure hope you are feeling better--but, if not--you go see someone tomorrow!!!!
AStorm--your Mozart music reminds of something I did a long time ago--I turned the stereo up real loud and played the SAME song, over and over and over and over!!! Sorry you have so much commotion going on right in your back yard! Even if we sent you some sexy construction workers to eyeball, it wouldn't make it any more pleasant.
Gentle hugs to Stanzie--know you are faced with a difficult decision. Thinking we've all walked in your particular shoes and not a fun place to be. We're holding your hand!
Wahine--hope you had a great anniv and a fab dinner out! Glad that hubby got you roses--I'd rather have scratch off lottery tickets!!!! LOL!!!!
Running out of steam here, but do have one burning question for you wino-loving lounge lizards:
White Wine-do you chill or not, and why????? Our company always brings the best wines when they come. I didn't feel like having any but the guys had a major argument over to chill or not......has made me curious........any thoughts? I'm guessing it boils down to personal preference with neither being right or wrong?????
big HUGGGSSSSSSS to ALL!!!!!
0 -
Since I used to drink too much white wine, I became accustomed to having it chilled. I looked it up and it really isn''t personal preference. Hope I don't get either of the guys in trouble here:
If you drink white wine or champagne you know that it should be served chilled. If it isn't, you could run into flavor problems. White wines are processed in such a way to help the flavor be brought out in a chilled format. It should also be served under certain temperatures to get a robust flavor. It makes no difference what kind of white wine you like to drink, they all have a taste and flavor profile that is hard to beat when it's chilled.

Couple things I just re-read:
Junie - did you find a chia pet in your crap? Beanius
HynkyD--have you "hied" your butt to a dr yet???
I had to google the second of the two but found them both humorous for some reason. No more cough medicine for me. GNIght all! HunkyD0 -
sorry, HD--didn't mean to mess with the sicko's mind----oooops!! I mean sickie!!!! LOL--just concerned about you and hope you do see your dr tomorrow!!!!
Thanks, RainCG for your comments re white wine--we have always enjoyed/served any white wine chilled. To me, drinking unchilled white wine would be as bad as drinking a good Merlot that has been poured into a glass full of ice cubes!!! (I did have that served at dinner one time, and almost spewed across the poor woman's dining room!) dH and I are in the "chilled" group....the white wine did get consumed that night but I was so sick I have no idea if it was chilled or not! Gonna keep chilling ours!!

However, there is such a thing as "over-chilling". So more like low 40s as opposed to around freezing. And a wine man I once knew described the ideal red temp as "draughty French chateau". So about 60-65 degrees, not 75.
Wine tonight was a bust. Trader Joe's which had been a bust most times recently so you would think I would learn. I expect something $10 a bottle to be a LOT better than this Malbec (Septimus). Opened up a half bottle of dessert Syrah which is OK, but not better than that. Does go with the cranberry shortbread though, so enjoying that.
I just got paid for some consulting work so need to restock for these occasions.
I normally really like Malbec so was looking forward to this one. O well. Stew?????????
Happy drinking.....perhaps should swear off wine and pursue firemen.

A Storm......don't have a precise recipe for pumpkin/squash custard.
Goes something like.....and you need to taste.
About one cup of roasted pumpkin or squash (you split, de-seed, roast, and scoop out pulp)
Three eggs (I use the best I can find)
1/4 cup heavy cream
Turbinado sugar to taste
Cardamom and salt
Combine above in blender and puree until smooth. Dump into buttered souffle dish. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Cream on top is a major plus.

Junie - I have to admit (please don't tell) I use a salad spinner too, but I never got a chia pet or a clapper. I finally bot a SS cuz DH can't handle wet salad n I thot it was a waste of time & $ to dry every leaf with a paper towel...what I've been doing with "old stuff" is packing it up and mailing it to my nieces and nephews - and my brother!!! Ha ha ha ha. LMAO over the square booby tan...I'm sure rads will suck but I'm getting used to all kinda sucky stuff. (I'd rather have the scratch off tics for anniv too!) About wine, I was a very unsophisticated, girl from a small (red neck, ya no like Jeff Foxworthy...) town when I went to college in a big (very un red neck) wine connoisseur area. I lernt white gets chilled n red doesn't. Then when I went to my HS reunion (where it was always blazing hot) the bar served red wine with ice cubes in it. I love my roots! Now DH is from a hoity toity town n he won't drink white wine, beer, or champs...and he should know better, but he does put ice cubes in red wine if it's hot out, or he chills it. On another subject, about going to college in the mid 70's it was total culture shock! One of my first days on campus the women were having a demonstration about not having to wear bras and there were a ton of them, younger and older, parading topless across campus. I came from a VERY conservative area and this lib thing was new to me...it was so funny!!! I had a blast in college. I lernt you can do whatever you want with wine or bras! Whatever feels good, ha ha ha ha!
HD - I wasn't sure about "hied" either, but hope you're not sick-o no mo...as for chia pets I knew about the dog one but now you can get all kinds at chia.com. (Geeeaaawwdd, now I know what to get my MIL for Christmas - ha ha ha ha!)
I wasn't sure anyone was impressed with my plant, so I thought I'd introduce my "fur babies" I have Ginger, the cat; Willow the duck; Kami, the hamster; and Red Bud, the mouse.
AStorm & Claire - food is still super gross for me, so I'll just say good luck with that custard thingy and would you like some blackberry brandy with me instead??? Claire, I'm glad someone is making $$, I was able to sccccccccrrrrrrrrrrraaaape about 25 bucks in sales for BCO in Oct.
Now I'm toasting the day with a good bottle of Spanada with ice cubes in it and I'm going braless and nuts all at the same time! Cheers and cHairs! (You still can c Hairs on my head, BTW) ~ Beans
