Well the port is out. They did sedation and told my sister that I couldn't go back to work today. Works not happy about it but I really was out of it so it's better that i didn't go back. I have the pleaseure of have Dr Hickman, you know the one that invented the Hickman Port, as my Dr today. He is such a great person. He did an awsome job when he put it in and I know he did taking it out too. The bandage stays on for 72 hours than all that's left is the stritape and that comes off in about 7-10 days. No outside stiches to leave any marks! yeah!

Carrie, yahoo! girl we knew you could do it.

I have to get up early to have my hubby take me to work, my car is still there, so I'm throwing some logs on the fire and going to bed.

Prayers are going out for Metster, 6packsan & Roza and all the other that need our prayers

    Hugs & Prayers

    Good Evening/Moring/Whatever . . .

My headache is almost gone and I read through most of the posts and realized you cannot stay abreast without reading every couple of hours (LOL).

Shirley - I'm so sorry about your daughter's step-mother and will keep Carolyn and James in my thoughts. What they are going through is very heartbreaking, especially at this time of year.

Cheryl - I'm also thinking about your brother-in-law and praying that he is not in too much pain.

NS - glad your computer is working again. I love the pic of your adorable kitty; I used to 2 - Marvin Rosenberg and Crazy, Lazy George. BTW, my dh and I figured if Marvin was human he would be a lawyer . . . How is your back?

Lisa and Cheri - great pix of your grandchildren.

Niki - After reading your 1st post re your 'cell mate', I was going to suggest something entirely different until after I heard she was crying. I do, however, like Theresa's idea of the super glue on the phone . . .

AlaskaDeb - thanx for the info on accupressure. I'm going to try it on my back and shoulders. Since nothing else seems to be working, what the heck???

Amy - How did your upper GI test go?

Cheri - I so can relate to just how you feel about your grandsons. Every moment with my granddaughters is a Kodak moment.

Mena - I read about 6packsan and will send her white healing light. I wish I could take all her pain and anxiety away. I can't wait til the 13th. I already told Jennifer the apartment is off limits to her and Brison that weekend! I don't know about surgery. They definitely want to operate on the left one, however, after going thru bc, I'm just not ready for any more surgery and rehab at this time. Know what I mean?

Theresa - No, not Marilyn. I don't think you know Judi, even though she goes to Cooper. Maybe we can all get together after my herceptin next week? Be careful at the office party tomorrow/today and if you need a designated driver, call me and I'll be there.

Carrie - congrats on the B9 dx!!!

Jeannie - So sorry about Ray and Sandy. I can't imagine what Sandy is going through with her dh in ICU for 6 weeks. And I'm sure it's difficult for you being so far away. On a happier note, have a wonderful time with your grandchildren.

Kristin - I was on Taxol and Herceptin for 12 weeks and I had the same feelings. You're not crazy, just chemopausing. It does get better and there is light at the end of the tunnel/treatment.

For all of those I left out, I'm sorry. My only excuse is the late hour and the fiorinol (sp?) - migraine prevention.

    Love, Sue

Ok CG's just started my shopping last night and I am down to only a few more to knock out on Sat am, as I work all day tomorrow.
I just wanna ask, Cheri123- where are you? I never heard of Buffalo, MO, I am in St. Louis and we have susanmcm in Springfield. It was in the 50' here today, warmer than where you are? Is Buffalo north?
    Carrie-great news!
No time to take notes on everyone, I am gonna finally start wrapping, as I need to give some gifts on Sat to work people.
    Sweet holiday dreams sisters!

Oh, tonight in my car I heard this song and it reminded me of the circle (although, I have always loved it, it now has new meaning)

    Home for the holidays,
I believe i've missed each and every face,
Come on and play my music,
Let's turn on the love light in the place

    It's time i found myself,
    Totally surrounded in your circles
    Whoa, my friends

    Please, celebrate me home,
    Give me a number,
    Please, celebrate me home
    Play me one more song,
    That i'll always remember,
    And i can recall,
Whenever i find myself too all alone,
    I can sing me home.

    Uneasy highway,
Traveling where the westerly winds can fly,
    Somebody tried to tell me,
But the men forgot to tell me why,

I gotta count on being gone,
Come on woman, come on daddy,
Be what you want from me,
I'm this strong, i'll be weak

    Please, celebrate me home,
    Give me a number,
    Please, celebrate me home
    Play me one more song,
    That i'll always remember,

Good Morning Everyone: Strange day here in the Chicago end of the circle. Not only is it pouring rain, but there is dense, dense fog. Driving in this stuff today isnt gonna be fun. But TGIF! LIke I said in an earlier post. Thank goodness this isnt snow. There is so much rain, we would be snowed in with this stuff.

Yesterday was the shortest day of the year. Yippee - can only look forward to it getting lighter now - it might be slow getting there, but it starts now.

Cheri: I understand the Mohawk look very well! I laughed at myself, cause here was a 56 y/o woman spiking her hair. But I was stylish!! I woke up this morning and it still looks cute, but its all messed up - and Im not very good at styling hair. I think that is one of the reasons I had long hair all my life. For me, this was another giant step moving beyond.

Kristin: I had taxotere. The hardest thing for me was the fatigue. Hard to pull myself outta bed some days. One down, 11 to go!! Your getting there

Vickie: What in the world are you gonna do with all those cookies? Im eating mine faster than I can make them. Tomorrow I make another batch of chocolate chips and some fudge. Hope it will last through Christmas.

DebC: Im so glad your feeling better. Accupuncture is amazing. I wish they would use it more often in the medical treatment world. After the 1st of the year, Im gonna try it to help me quit smoking. I have heard wonderful results about it helping to kick that nasty habit.

Michelle: I hope your husband is feeling better. And I hope he is not getting a cold. Sickness is not allowed on the Holidays.

Mena: Oh my goodness, now Roza? Im sending all the strength I can muster up here. With alot of prayers too. I do need to check out other forums on this site. Seems like by time I done with the circle thread, Im usually outta time.

Cheryl: Since I worked in ICU for many years, Dr. Hickman was indeed impressive to me! You had the top guy!! Im glad its over for you. Im gonna take a planned 4 day week-end when I get mine out. Did they give you IV anesthesia? Im so disappointed. I thought they could remove it in my surgeons office under a local. Not so! Gotta have IV anesthesia, blood work and EKG before hand. Prior to my diagnosis I never had surgery. This will be my 5th!! since 6-2-05. I know its minor, but I sure am getting sick of going to Day Surgery.

Sue: Im glad the migraine is getting better. Ya know I always follow this phrase of thought. "It doesnt matter who is right or wrong, its who looks good in the end." Crying in front of the administrator certainly didnt make my cell mate look very good. So me thinks she is feeling pretty regretful that she started this whole thing. Glad Im not in the office all day. Nice job I have. Im no ones boss and spend most of my time driving about visiting people at different hospitals.

Christine: Great song. I say this as Im wiping a tear from my eyes. Wrapping? OHG - I havent even begun to do that. I think this year Im gonna use gift bags. 1 - 2 - 3, get tissue paper, put em in a bag and label the bag. Except for my husnbads. His will be wrapped.

OK - gotta go. Im into getting to work earlier each day now. Dont want to run into the wicked witch of Deerfield. (My cell mate).

Hope you all have a wonderful day

Christine-It's Kenny Loggins. Another of my favorite songs. You must do what I do when driving. I listen to lyrics and they trigger a thought or memory. I do my best praying, philosophizing, and mental therapy while driving. Don't know how well I drive, but hopefully the praying covers that part. LOL!!

Deb- So glad that you're feeling better. You're dinner menus always make me hungry.

Niki, Vickie, Cheri - still have ex-bff's card. not sending it

Mena- I'm praying girl, I'm praying. I sure hope that they are answered and everyone has a pain-free, peaceful day at home with their families on Christmas, and for all the days that follow.

Everyone else that I've missed - You are always in my heart and prayers.

Anyone heard from shel?? Missing her.

    Hi All~

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!

    Carrie - GREAT news!

Vickie - does your oven run non-stop? Seems like you've been baking cookies for about 2 months LOL!

Leaving after work to head to Joplin, MO for Christmas with my family tonight. Only about a 2-hour drive from Tulsa, so that should be easy. The hard part will be getting all the gifts and food into my tiny car..

Can't believe it will be 6 years Christmas Eve since my dad went into cardiac arrest right before our family Christmas celebration and died later that night. The 24th is also sister Kristi's birthday, which double sucks.

But I know he'll be looking down on us this evening (along with mom) and we'll toast to loving memories.

Hope all of you make great memories with your family and friends this holiday season.

    Hugs,

    Donna

Good morning to all. Hope everyone got a good nights rest.
Seems like we're missing some ladies today. Everyone is so busy now that it's countdown time. Santa comes to our house tonight and my grandsons are just WILD today! I tried the old "Santas watching you trick" but I guess they think its too late for him to turn back now. (Although that did work for a couple weeks.)

Cheryl Cy, so glad getting your port out went well. I still have mine, don't want to give it up just yet. I may need it for ankle surgery.

Sue, grandchildren are wonderful, aren't they? I let mine get away with so much more than I ever did my dd.

Christine, lol, gee you've never heard of Buffalo, MO? You've joined the ranks of millions! It's a little bitty one horse town. We're about 30 miles N. of Springfield. Susanmcm is only bout 30 min. from me. In fact, that's where I went for all my treatments & most of my family live there. I'm actually surprised we don't have more girls from there on here.

Nicki, glad you like your hair cut. You'll get the hang of styling it. I'm just the opposite of you as far as the method of removing my port. They WILL put me out or they WON'T take it out! They tried putting it in when I had surgery & couldn't get it. So they sent me to a radiologist. He just used a local so I was awake and he tried twice before he got it in. That was one of the worst parts of treatment! I was singin "Some Beach...somewhere" It hurt like the devil so I want to be out this time. I've had so many surgeries it doesn't bother me to go under.

Mena,I did stop by 6packs & Rozas. This disease is the devil himself!! There's a fine thin line between feeling so sad for our sisters and staying sane for ourselves! It's only natural to mentally place ourselves in their postition but yet, we have to stay positve about staying well. Or getting well.

Did I miss posts by Vicki,Sparky and where the hell is Shel? There's prolly been several posts while I've been writing this one.

Hope all have a good day,
    Cheri

Good afternoon ladies...taking a quick break here at work.
LauraGTO...nice to see you...hope all is well.
Donna...yes my oven has been running nonstop...I couldn't afford to buy gifts for all the people who did so much for me this past year so I baked my butt off...cakes and cookies galore! I have just two more batches of whoopie pies to make and then I am really done. (oh...cooking Christmas dinner as my brother, SIL and their four kids are coming over). Whew...going to take a much needed break in January.
Cheri...I am here...not posting as much the past week...been down and out and busy at the same time. Really missing my daughter and she's really down right now too. She has called twice this week crying. She's just overtired, overworked and homesick. Your a doll...I see you posting all over the place offering hope and encouragement.
    Lini...just saying hello.
Missing NS, Vera, Shel and I'm sure many others...still haven't had a chance to do a head count.
OH...my sister sent the picture I posted of Nathaniel to our local paper and he made the front page yesterday!!! I know...bragging a bit here but I can't help it...he is such a doll and has a really rough year worrying about me...he earned the honor.
Hope you are all well...still praying for all.
    Love you sisters
    Vickie
PS...Hi Puppy...Merry Christmas to you too and God Bless you in the New Year!

Janis: Oh my, I just got home from work and came in for a quick hello. When I saw your post I immediately went to the mets forum. Our dear, sweet Roza is very ill. DIC is a complicated bleeding disorder. Something that is usually treated in ICU. A life threatening illness that most Intensive Care Nurses dont like to see. The good news is that it has been one week. So she is fighting it and getting stronger. Roza is a wonderful person who has given support to so many here.

I am picturing all of us standing together in a circle, arm in arm, hand in hand, foot in foot. A tight bond we need here everyone. Pull up any almighty strength you have. Only in our strength can we win.

Roza: We will watch over you. Even if we have to take shifts. Im around in the early mornings. Some would call it night. So I will be there when the rest of the world is sleeping. If you get scared, just grab my hand - I will grab back.

Im hoping everyone will stop by the mets if you havent already and give our sweet Roza some strength, peace, and comfort. She is a warrior! who needs a little help right now.

And Janis: I am so glad you stopped by the circle. Is was great to see you - and I really appreciate the update on Roza too.

Lini: Ahaha Im glad you still have the card. Now you could sneeze on it, or burn the edges, melt wax on it - or just put it away.

Jeannie: Just like Twilight Zone. Dododododo. That is truelly amazing. So you are 18 months post 1st surgery also. Im hoping this is the last surgery I need. No nips for me. Once the port is out, Im so done.

LauraGTO: OMG it is so good to see you. I just realized I never answered you pm. Distorted Humor and I are riding in the wind on the 27th. Merry Christmas to you also

Donna: Enjoy your time with your family. The story about your dad, is so sad. Many moons ago when I was a young teenager, I lost my dad at age 52 to cardiac arrest. That was 38 years ago. So I do understand the mixed emotions.

OK. Dinner is done and I have to leave abruptly. Will then be crazy trying to finish my last Christmas present that Im making. I will see ya all in the morning.

    Hey Ladies

Just a quick check in to say hello. Sounds like we're all getting busier and busier as the weekend and Christmas approaches. (I don't know how I used to do this when I was a single parent working full-time!)

Vicki - sorry your daughter is feeling sad, it must be so hard for you to be far away from her when she feels that way. What a good mom you are to keep a stiff upper lip for her sake. My mom used to say, "even if we're far apart, we all look at the same moon" (or something like that!) It's not much, but I hope it helps a bit.

Deb - So glad the acupuncture is working for you! A friend of mine dx with ov ca right after my bc participated in a research study at Dana Farber for acupuncture and sleep. She found it very peaceful and restful. I'm freaked out by it, but would try it in a second if I thought it would help me out.

Michele - hope your hubby is feeling better and that neither of you get sick!

Mena - too funny about the hanging up/presents for bf. My friend once described her husband as, "he's a dear sweet man (he is by the way) but the rage I sometimes feel toward him scares me..." That has always made me laugh, because it is so true (at least in my experience.) Yes, the majority of them appear to be idiots, even the good ones, the just try to do what we'd like them to do, even though they don't understand it. LOL Sending prayers to 6packsan and roza...

Cheryl CY - woo hoo on the port! Cool that you have the actual port guy!

Sue - hope the migraine has resolved completely. My fiance takes that furinol (sp?) stuff - it's potent!

Christine - thanks for the song!

Nicki - glad to hear it about the hair! I'm sick of not liking my hair, but don't want to deal with trying to grow it out, but can't seem to find a short hair cut that I love, love, love. I've decided I want to look like a pixie (best description I can think of) or Winona Ryder. My hairdresser (and friend) just kind of laughs at me at this point. I just don't have pixie/Winona Ryder-esque hair I guess!

Lini, Jeannie, Laura, DebbyFive - hey girls! Hello right back at ya!

Janis - Roza, Karilynn, 6packsan - I'm sending them my most positive, healing thoughts. And peace and happiness to you, thanks for always being so thoughtful.

Donna - so sorry about your dad, that's so hard. Love the visual of him looking down on you all. Have you ever heard the eskimo poem about the stars (they are the holes in the sky that our friends and family look down on us from heaven through.) I have always liked that poem for some reason...

tgirl - Happy Holidays to you too from a former (and still in my heart) Jersey Girl! Have a piece of taylor ham for me. Unless of course you're watching your fat intake, in which case you should not even be in the same room as taylor ham!

Cheri - Sorry the Santa threat is no longer working LOL You really know all hope is lost when that doesn't put the fear of God into a kid!

Tracey - sounds like you have the same baking skill level I have! LOL (is there a difference between "mix" and "beat"? Does mix always mean with a mixer, or can it just be with your good old arm and a wooden spoong? And can someone PLEASE tell me the difference between butter and shortening?!?!?!? LOL

OK, this quick note is pretty darn long. I am going to be SOOO mad if I lose it.

Love to all of you that I missed, I know there are tons, I only did the scrolling thing on this page.

    Sleep well my sisters!

Colleen...thanks for the moon idea. I will give it a try if I can get her to stop crying and being sad long enough. This is so very hard...she is just more down than I have ever heard her and I'm not really sure what's going on so I'm really worried.
Donna...your dad and your mom will surely be looking down on you with love in his heart.
blubbering like a friggin baby...gonna put my big girl panties and deal with it and come back later.
    Be back later.
    Love ya girls

    Hi CGs,
Just a quick break in my baking to say HI. This has been a very busy place the last few days, haven't got a chance of keeping up at the moment.
To Roza and 6pack, HUGS and PRAYERS to you both.
CY, congrats on getting the port out. Must be a relief.
Nicki, good to see your posts as always.
    Love the pics.
Gotta go, still have chocolate chip cookies to make. Already have apple, pumpkin and apple/rhubarb pies, s'mores, date rocks, shortbread, nanaimo bars, a bunch of tarts all on the side board. Dig in.
Working over Christmas and so likely won't get on much (oi, how many pages will be to catch up then!).

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all. HAPPY CHANUKAH. Safe travels wherever you go. You are all always in my heart & mind.

Good Morning Everyone: Oh I feel so rushed now that this Holiday week-end is here. Gotta make more Chocolate chip cookies since I ate my first batch. Then make some fudge. Then wrap presents. And frantically work on finishing my last present that Im making.

But I couldnt start my day without stopping by the circle as I enjoy my coffee this morning.

Theresa: OK what is a shop party? Whatever it is, it sounds like fun. Hope you dont have a headache when you wake up this morning.

Cheri: Well by now, Santa has come to your house - gift wrap everywhere, and hoping you slept with a smile on your face. They put my port in under general anesthesia. Did it while they were doing a lymph dissection. So I have never had IV anesthesia. Well wait a minute, I did once - at the dentists office to have my wisdom tooth pulled. I forgot all about that. So Im wondering if this will be the same. Anyways, everyone agrees - its time for the port to go.

Vickie: What a grand idea, making cookies for all the people who were so kind to you. The Holidays are so stressful. Im hoping next year, you and your daughter will spend the Holidays together. Cheers on Nathaniel making the front page. That picture was so cute and I bet he was pretty excited. BTW - xanax is my best friend!! Works everytime.

Tracey: Im laughing cause I did the same thing with my cookies. They came out huge and over cooked. Kept looking at them thinking they were still raw - ended up with crispy chocolate chips. Anyways they were still good. Today I will make smaller cookies and cook them for a shorter time. Hmmmm and then hope I dont eat them all before this Holiday weekend is over. Im with you. Yippee - I have 3 days off from work.

Colleen: The pixie hair thing is funny. Pretty much describes how I feel. I see other women with short hair styles that look so cute but on me I look goofy. I thought I was pretty brave not going to my hair dresser. Figured I gave her enough tries to do something with this mop on top of my head. Going to "Great Clips" was spontaneous. I drove by and said, well lets see what they can do. The hair cut is cute. My husband loves it. But Im still missing my long hair. The lesson I learned is having short hair doesnt necessarily mean its easier to style. I must have spent 1/2 hour on it yesterday morning. Then it rained all day - so I wore a hat which made me flat head! Buthey, hats are stylish this year, and I have so many cute ones from my chemo days.

Liz: Oh yummy! Now thats one great Christmas card. Im saying this as I wipe the drooling from my mouth.

Lynn: Working over the Holidays? Oh that stinks. Ive been a nurse for 36 years, so I have had my fair share of working the Holidays. With my current job, I have all week-ends and Holidays off. And ahahahaha if you try to catch up on Tuesday. This circle place is hard to catch up on if ya miss a day or two. Have a Great Christmas.

So Im really wondering what is going on with so many people having problems with their thyroid after bc. I evaluate an 80 y/o woman yesterday who has a fractured femur. She had bc and mastectomy in 1985. Nodes were positive. Had chemo. Then 2001 had thyroid cancer. When they x-rayed her femur, they found mets to the bone. She told me she thought she was a goner in 1985 and was greatful to still be with us 21 years later! When I read her medical history I took a big sigh. Cause the thyroid thing seems to be popping up alot.

OK - my coffee is done. Need to get my butt moving. I just love the aroma of cookies baking in the over. Especially early in the morning. Have a great day everyone.
