Learn something new every day - moose polish sausage/moose kielbassa.
Deb have you always enjoyed cooking? Do you do this for a living. You always have more mouth watering recipes going than anyone I have ever met. Smoked salmon cream cheese spread, pineapple upside cake with rum and the list goes on. Hope you get those last two rads behind you so you can be close to family as winter closes in(I guess it is getting rather cold in Alaska by now????)
Shel, good to read your post. Robin, Lisa glad to see that you are feeling well enough to post. Lisa stay in the inner circle as long as you need; glad you came here too.
Nicki, my oncologist doesn't do tumor markers, I hope yours were OK today.
Everyone have a restful night - sleep well. God Bless.0 -
There is an old saying of mine "Another day, another dollar, makes me scream and want to holler." Good morning all. Another cold day at the Chicago end of this wagon. Temp went below freezing but the sky is clear! I can see all the stars this morning. Picked out a few and made some wishes.
Cold crisp mornings are nice, if your dressed warm and enjoy the outdoors. And since we are wagon girls - we are ready for any kind of weather. I took a walk this morning before I made coffee. The forest is beautiful. I dont see green leaves anymore, just golden yellow with whispers of red and orange. As I walked I could hear the leave crackle under my feet. I tried to imagine how I feel in Spring. I get so excited over the little things. Like seeing buds on the branches for the first time. But thats so far away now. But the stars, they are always there. Shining brightly and teling stories.
So the visit to my onc was pretty good. Got tumor markers drawn, CMP, CBC, protime, and a FLU shot! Im so glad he said it was ok to get the flu shot. I wasnt sure he would let me get it cause I was sick 2 weeks ago, but he said ok. And here I am this morning, feel fine and no side effects.
As I was leaving the office, I saw my sister. She was diagnosed with bc 3 months after me. So she had a f/u visit with the onc. She is my older sister. Anyways, we were just standing there talking and my onc comes out into the waiting room. Spent about 5 minutes talking about the Rolling Stones concert he went to and how cold it was. Then talked about Paul McCartney for a bit. Then he escorted my sister into the examing room himself. Im so glad we grew up in the same era. I looked at him as he walked away with my sister and thought, ya know, he is a pretty nice guy.
Cookie: Cold or not, the fish fry sounded great. Your adventures always sound like so much fun.
Tgirl: I love the kick ass tent idea. Of course I quickly ran to get a wagon, but then realized it would be too small. We need lots of room! So I got a kick butt teepee. The walls are padded. The music is fast and energizing. And its located to the left of the spa tent. So sorry about the Eagles! I cant believe that guy kicked a 62 yard field goal to win the game. Truelly unbelievable!
Lynn: Watching you son speed skate sounds like so much fun. It is an art form in itself! Hope he does well this year.
DebC: Oh the rads are almost over and I am so happy for you. The smoked salmon cream cheese sounded wonderful. Its one of my favorites.
Vickie: Its sad - Trentons story - looks like they are giving up. Im focusing on the hopes he with a family that is keeping quiet and taking care of him.
Lisa: OH my. How are you? I have missed you so much. I never did hear what the onc said about getting on the clinical trials. I hope things went well. Glad your starting to feel better. Im looking forward to sitting with you at the campfire and just talking with ya.
Tracey: I am so glad you are feeling better. At least you are at the end of the flu instead of the beginning.
Sheri: Yes, I have been thinking about you too. How did the mammogram go?
Robin - you are such a sweetheart. I love the DH ass tent. Just put one up to the right of the spa. My contribution is a dart board and punching bag. With the dart board you can put up any picture you want and hit the bulls eye. The punching bag, ya can do the same thing. Put up a picture and give em heck.
Cheryl: Im so sorry about the back pain. Come to the spa. Have a really nice massage with your name written all over it.
Naniam: Thanks for the well wishes. I know many oncs dont do tumor markers - and thats good for mental health. Mine believes in them! But I dont freak out anymore. Not like I did when I first had them drawn.
Shel: Hope your feeling better. Dont try solid foods. Try some pudding. Or ice cream! I always love ice cream when Im upset. Hmmmm Guess thats why I gain weight instead of losing. Please tell us what happened. How did the mets get diagnosed?
Kristin: How are you. I havent heard how the second chemo went. Im hoping all is well.
Looking for TiniIrene, Mena, Peggy, Liz, Purple MB, Susan, Marla and so many others. Hope you all are doing well.
Im back on South Beach, so you all dont want any of my breakfast. 2 hard boiled eggs and a piece of cheese!
Time to go, hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Chemosabi, thanks for asking. I never qualified for clinical trials because of xeloda and not being off of it for 6 months...my oncologist finally asked her friend at Emory to take on my case. So I've transferred there and started Avastin and Taxol last week. They seem to think that insurance will pay for it so we are just keeping our fingers crossed... I'm on my way now to my second treatment. Take care and have a great day. Lisa

Good day all, just a quick hello...
Nicki...I was vacationing in Myrtle Beach...whooo hooo...90 there...I was glad to come home to the snow...lol...so glad to know I'm missed....Glad you keep up with everyone so I just read your post no time to read back ...sorry all...
My DH, Middle Son and Myself drove to Myrtle Beach for a car show...when we arrived the whole area was decked out in Pink ribbons & balloons....the charity of choice was a group that helped womwn pay their BC medical bills, what a nice surprise...over 600 cars and people galor..so they made a nice bit of $$$$...so of course I bought a pink hat, a bear and lots of M&M's...even though the pink is getting to me I figured the $$$ went to the best cause I know...100%...
So I will check back after I catch up at work...I will bring more fire wood as its getting really cold here...hugs all around the circle....
its always good to be home...
MB0 -
Welcome home MB...you were missed.
Now if we could just find our other MIA girls!0 -
Woo Hoo---look what I finally figured out how to do! A little more convoluted on the Mac, since it saves photo files differently but I think I've got it! This was taken the day we took our grandson apple picking for his 3rd birthday. That's my sweety SO I'm cuddled up to---isn't he cute? Not bad for a 68 year old guy---not that I'm prejudiced or anything. Now if I could only find a good pre-black eye picture without the Greta Garbage sunglasses!

Wow Silvergirl...you are beautiful!! So glad you learned how to post a pic...handsome hubby too...lucky girl!!
Hugs
Vickie0 -
Not hubby---we prefer living in sin at the moment. It's a "thing" with being able to file for social security under my ex's ss#. The crap our gov't forces us into! We're married in our hearts and heads and that's where it really counts!!

Oh you sinful girl you...LOL...hubby in your heart is all that matters. I know all about the crap the government forces people into.

Hi beautiful CG's ~
stoping by to say you all are in my thoughts and prayers everyday!
I have an update for deese (Denise)She went to the Cleveland clinic last Thursday for a consult .The Dr said unfortunatley the anuerysm is twice the size the other Dr. reported , he said it is significant. he said due the shape
and being in a main artery she is not a good canadiate for a coil , He also said due to her age 47 it is not wise to
leave it . He wants to do an Angiogram on Thursday at 11:00
am Where they go up through the groin up to the anuerysm, he wants a better look at it before he does surgery as they will have to go through the skull.
It has really been cold here we even had snow showers yesterday.I am praying everyone is safe and warm and
sending extra hugs and prayers and good thoughts for you all~
hugs,
Carrie0 -
Silvergirl/Jeannie - thanks for sharing this lovely picture. Nice to put faces with the names.
Carrie, sending lots of love, prayers and hugs to you and Denise on Thursday.
Hope everyone is having a good day. Just checking in for a bit and time to get back to the chores- ugh!!!!0 -
Good Afternoon everyone. I got home from work early today and Im so glad I did.
Lisa: I sort of remember now you telling us you didnt quality for the clinical trials. I have heard such wonderful things about the combination of Avastin and Taxol. Second treatment today? Geez! Ive not had avasitin, but I have had taxol so come to the medi tee pee, we have lots of stuff to help you through this.
Carrie: Im so shocked to hear about Denise. I was really hoping this would be something easy. You all must be feeling pretty devastated, and Im sure Densie is scared. Can't downplay this one. Its scary. Im sending only hugs and good thoughts your way. We will be there, strong out spirit is, the day of the angiogram and the day of the surgery.
PurpleMB: I know you were on vacation. I was jealous the whole time. 90 degree weather and we had to build teepees cause of the cold weather here at the circle. Haha snow! Back to the real world again. Sure did miss ya. And what a great story. With all the pink stuff going on for October, thats the kind of story you want to hear about. I would have been so happy, and would have bought pink everything. (Sorry Lini and Shel if your peaking). Anyways its good to have you back.
PurpleMB: Pne more thing. On the Lifetime channel there were a few women from bc.org that had there pictures posted. There was one woman with your initials who got her black belt after her diagnosis. Just wondering if it was you?
Jeannie: What a great picture. Your husband is a doll and so are you.
Debbiefive: Thanks for the update on Mena. Keeping you also in our prayers.
Mena: OMG: I really understand. Sounds like this respiratory infection has gotten to you like it did to me. I was so darn sick from it. And it's harder to bounce back when your getting treatment. Im hoping each day you start to feel a little better. Some tricks I did to try and help? Warm stuff. Tea, chicken broth, anything warm. It will loosen up the junk in your lungs. Drink lots of water. And the fatigue was pretty bad too. So just rest. Stay in the middle of the circle.
Hello to vickie and nanium, running out of time - DH wants the computer.
Dinner = shish kabobs. All kinds. We have chicken, we have beef, we have shrimp, we have all vegetable. Marinated mushrooms, onions. green peppers, mangos and pears (yes mangos and pears), tomatoes and zuchinni. So build your own kabob. Got the fire going nice and have a little bbq setup. Dessert, pumpkin pie, pumkin cheese cake, pumkin cookies. Got a craving for pumkin tonight and have a pumkin here that needs carving.

Tracey, that is great that you are feeling better. Mine jumps around... I wake up and wonder "which body part will be affected today?"
Niki, that was a very cool story about your onc. I hoep all your labs come back perfect!
And Robin Girl- i am counting the days til the wagon train can travel to you and do a little "house cleaning"!
Shel, you can't eat toast but you can eat Moose Keilbasa???
I prefer the Ben and Jerry's diet plan- but then again that makes me LOOK like a moose keilbasa!
Jeannie that is a fabulous picture. You look so glamorous in your shades... and your SO (sinful other ) is a hottie!
Cheryl, I hate that your back is bothering you again as a fellow sufferer I can relate sister!

Everyone is getting their winter insulated tarps for the top of their wagons tomorrow. There will be several colors to choose from. There are four different types of Pink for Shel's approval.
Halloween is coming... how are your costumes coming??????0 -
Love reading all the updates. I'm not good at responding to all of you, but I think of you often, especially when you are going through tough times.
Haven't gotten the mammo results yet, but it was kind of weird. I have a theory, if I stress before a test or exam, it turns out ok, if I think it's no big deal, then something seems to happen. After I had my 3 pictures taken of my left breast (the only one I have), they asked me to wait for them to check it before I dressed. Fine, I wasn't concerned, until the tech comes in and says she needs more pictures! Of course my heart dropped. Then she said it was because my port was in the way and they needed a clearer view. I hope that means nothing, but then after what we all have been through, you never know.
So, from now on, I will totally stress before every test!0 -
Evening Circle Girls,
I've tried to take notes but have missed so much that I gave up. I think of you all daily though.
Still trying to figure out what's going to happen with my in-laws. Fortunately, one of the girls is on vacation and is taking care of things this week.
I had my 9 month check up today. My oncologist told me I looked great, everything was good and to go enjoy my life and he'd see me in 3 months.
I am not looking forward to the cold weather, but it has been quite chilly here the past few mornings.
Hugs to you all that are going through rough times. I'll be in the medic tee pee helping with soup, meds and whatever else needs to be done.
As usual, all the food sounds wonderful!
I love the idea of the Kick-A$$ tee pee!

Hey CGs!
Sorry I have not posted, but I have been reading and praying for everyone in the inner circle. AC#2 drained my energy so much and I just was not motivated to write. A couple of days I did not even turn on my computer, which is a first for me!
But today was Day 8 of my second cycle and I have perked up a bit. Only 2 more to go! Making myself go to treatments #3 and #4 will probably be the hardest things I have ever had to do though!
Good news is that my WBC and RBC are in normal range. I just hope the cancer cells are not faring as well as my blood cells! LOL!
Good night, dear circle girls, I will be praying for all of us tonight!
Kristin0 -
Kristin, get your rest!!! Remember chemo is cumulative so the fatigue will catch up with you. The best advice I was ever given was when you feel fatigue give into it and rest!
Liz, SO GLAD everything went well on your nine month check up! I love your circle girl emoticons!
It is cold here too and both me and my cat are NOT ready for it. I am moved in the spring so I don't know what this house is like in the winter- today I was finding all the drafty spots!
Sheri, i will be praying all goes well with your mammo results. I was told that mammos are harder to read after rads because there is some scarring that blocks the view so we have to have more pics taken. It is perfectly normal to have that happen. I hope all goes well!
Shel, I see so many people all over this board expressing their love and support for you. I hope you really FEEL it. I know that I want you to feel our presence and know that we are all with you and any time you want to talk here we are!
TONIGHT there is a CELEBRATION TENT!
Chocolate Fountain
Ice Cream Bar
and every cookie under the sun
all to celebrate DEB's LAST DAY OF TREATMENT FOREVER!!!!!!
Come party down!
Shel- is that a bowl I see you bringing to the chocolate fountain????!!!!!! GOOD IDEA!0 -

Hang in there.Men,cant love em and cant kill um.
You see I have this therory it should be a law that everyone is allowed to kill one idiot in their lifetime and get away with it.Trouble is someone would have killed me a long time ago before i could have killed the dh.

Good Morning Everyone: I woke up with a headache this morning. I think it was from all the champayne and chocolate. Another cold morning here, but we have lots of logs on the fire to keep warm. I heard on the news we are having below normal temps in the chicago area of the wagon. I am hoping this isnt a trend for the upcoming winter.
I was so happy yesterday. Wore a new outfit to work. Wore leotards - I have always loved leotards even as a little girl. So my grey skirt and the black leotards looked pretty good. Everyone told me how young I look. Geez - I figure they were looking at my legs and not my face lol.
Sometimes I wonder if I am a little bipolar! I can go for weeks and weeks with a smile on my face and bursting with energy. The last 24 hours I have been so irritable. Its like no one can do anything right but me. Now thats a terrible attitude. But I figure, hey, at least Im recognizing it and hopefully I wont put a size 12 shoe in my mouth at work today.
Sheri: You and I sometimes think so much alike. Its usually when Im not worried about something that I get pushed on my butt. Im really hoping the mammogram results are fine. It does make sense about the port. I hope you get the results soon so you can stop worrying. These darn tests! I cringe everytime I get a test done.
Liz: Im so glad the visit with your onc when good. Love to hear come back in 3 more months. Sorry about the in law thing. Start looking for assisted living now. Get them in there before another crisis starts. At least you and your family will have piece of mind, as there are people that can monitor them for you. Then your visits can be enjoyable. The stress of taking care of a loved one is so hard. Just hoping you stay healthy and good luck.
Krisitn: 2 down and 2 to go! So you are halfway done with the A/C, thats great. I think for me the fatigue was the hardest. And like others have said, just go with the flow. The rest is so important. It was good to hear from you though. Miss seeing you post.
Shel: Hang in there. So many people are concerned about you and giving you support. One day at a time. Baby steps turn into giant steps. It sure does make sense about the rib pain. I had alot of pain with my fills. Felt like my ribs were being pushed in. Big Sigh! anyways, so what is the treatment plan gonna be?
Robin: Oh you made me laugh. I love your theory. But just one person? I can think of a few people I would love to be rid of. I know I have said it before, but you are such a strong person. Your words are always comforting. Keep fighting girl.
Cheryl: What cute pictures. Your granddaughter is just beautiful.
Tracey: I became a grandmother for the 1st time when I was 37. And now at 56 I could become a great grandmother. Shocking!! to say the least. Dont put too much stock in what your 10 year old was saying. I never knew my grandparents on my fathers side. They both passed away at a young age. I was always asking questions about them. Wanting to see pictures of them. Sounds more like normal curiosity. Im so glad you are feeling better.
Laura: you are too funny. Ive been looking and looking for you. So now I know where to look. In the dessert tent lol. Ah yes, a good place to be.
DebC: Once again, Im so happy the treatments are done. Seems like yesterday you were just starting. We have lots more celebrating to do, but let me get over this headache first.
NS: always great to read your posts. It helps me keep up too. Usually in the wee morning hours Im scrabbling to find a piece of paper and pencil to take notes.
Has anyone seen Vera lately? Missing her dinners and words of wisdom.
Well it is getting time to go. Shower and work are calling. Have made some great waffles. TuttiFruitti waffles. Blueberry, Cherry, Apple or Strawberry topping with whipped cream.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day

Hello everyone!
I realize I have been MIA for a bit but I have returned. Work has been crazy and then with darkness falling so early when I get off I find myself flying out to the farm to feed animals and then before you know it I am getting ready for bed.
I didnt even try to take notes since I have been away for a while but my thoughts have been with all the circle girls.
Short but sweet and will check back in later.
Amy0 -
Hi girls, just stopping in for some hot coco and running to another doctor's appt later today. Had my last muga scan 58%(yeah) and had my foot and ankle x-rayed. Have had crazy pain and trouble walking for a while, just too lazy to deal with it. I also had bloodwork drawn and my triglyrecides are crazy!! 232!!! Everything else was well below range.
I'm switching from tamoxifen to arimidex tomorrow. Great more trouble.
Anyway enough about me....
Kristin, keep up the sleep and you'll feel better. Hope to see you at my LAST TREATMENT this Friday.xoxo
Deb...yahoo!!!!
Mena...I miss you and am thinking about you.
Shel...Sorry you're going through this now of all times. MEN SUCK!!!
RobinTN..that's for you also.xoxo
Tracey...hope you're up and around soon.
Niki... I think we need the mess hall for our kA tent. Maybe some punching bags hanging from the top.
Vicki...still have Trenton on my thoughts. God is keeping a watch on him.xoxo
Carrie...my July sister, I'm sorry Denise is going through such tough times. I'll pray for her.xoxo
Just think 1-2 years ago we never knew anyone...and now...we're family.xoxo0 -
Thank you Theresa
Where are you Shel? What is going on with you now? How are you doing?
Hi to everyone else relaxing in your tepee's.0 -
I love the KA teepee idea! Have you ever noticed that in cowboy movies the teepees look to be standard size smallish affairs---but the interior scenes they have twelve people a horse and three big dogs in there? Well, maybe not the horse but they do seem infinitely bigger on the inside than the outside! We need one of those so we can cram all of the people who need a little A$$ whuppin' applied. Not that we're hostile and aggressive types but honey, cross a BC sister and you cross me too--and there ARE 110 of us, more or less.
OK, who's going to the cardiologist with me tomorrow? Oh, and forgot to tell you---the nip has failed and will have to be done again and it is infected. Sigh.
Tgirl---I'll let you know what he says since this whole cardio thing has been kicked off by triglycerides----which are even higher than yours. I am so full of salmon I should have gills and it just keeps going up. Will be out of town until Sunday but will check in after I get home.
