Great thing you got both the cabinet and countertop. How will install it? Our friend the plumber? Hope he does a quality install and uses the correct nails, not the ones that RUSTS. Sounds like progress

I'm old-school too, and rely on maps, not GPS or Google Maps. Like to have it in my head where I'm going and not rely on techie gizmos. I'd check Amazon too.

I am sure "our friend" the plumber would love to strut right in and get that job done! Glad you got the cabinet and counter, and got them home safely. Yeah, try Amazon, or even eBay. I also like to print out maps from MapQuest of where I will be going.

Dang it, 2ta....that really sucks that they messed up your insurance. Hope they get it right so you don't have probs with the surgery you just had, etc. And a swollen foot??? What do you think is wrong? Hate that you have to wait till Wed, and hope it is not anything serious. Mine still hurts from the tendonitis and the dr didn't really address what to do about it. Sometimes I don't notice it and sometimes it kills me. Did the swelling start after your plane trip? I wear compression hose (toeless knee-hi compression hose) and that works for me. Regular comp knee-his with toes messed up my big toes with the pressure, and messed up my big toenails....so have not worn shoes for about 3 yrs, till I discovered the toeless ones. AND the new podiatrist had me get fitted for shoes and I was buying the wrong size! SO I may get to wear shoes again, other than FitFlops and Allegrias. Was ready for her to remove the toe nails permanently, so am hoping these new shoes will work out! Let us know what you find out, will be praying for nothing serious!

@2TA, we got talking about maps yesterday after I got home. I was soooo tired!! I had a printout of the directions from google with me, but I wanted a map too. The printout is OK, but if you make a wrong turn it won't help you find your way onto the correct route, and you can't always tell from the printout whether you have gone past where you were supposed to turn or not. And I don't know if I'd ever get a smartphone that does GPS. I don't want my whereabouts constantly being tracked without my consent. To tell the truth, I'm getting a little paranoid about how hard it seems to be getting to do anything without somebody somewhere storing it in a database and selling the information to anyone who has the money to pay for it. It still doesn't make any sense to me that businesses are allowed to collect information about me without telling me, and sell it to other people without asking my permission. ISTM that information about my whereabouts, purchasing habits, online activities, etc, belongs to me, not to some database manager!

@wahine, I hope you can find some shoes that fit and are comfortable. Are there SAS shoestores in your part of the country? I could find shoes there when nowhere else had my size.

YES curve, thank you.  No hurts for my toes with the new shoes (I know....bad sentence!). They were expensive, but they are the same price elsewhere and this running store gives you total attention....he worked on my fit for an hr...they even video you at foot level, on the treadmill. SO with the jogging shoes (for walking) and special inserts and socks it was almost $200, but shoes alone were $110. I found last years model online on sale and found a discount too, so getting that extra pair shipped for just $50! I do buy Allegria as they are very comfy and open, and Orthoheels(sp?) as well as FitFlops. I have high arches, and need good support and these are all very good. But hard to use on the treadmill. DIDN'T know I needed to buy a size larger and NOT the wide sizes I was getting....sheesh ya think I would know how to fit my own feet by now. Well, NOW I do...lol. I agree with you...too much info it being collected about everything we do! Guess now they even know what size shoe I am buying!!!

I'm just the opposite, I have hardly any arches at all and never have.

You're right, they probably do know what size, also what color and whether you looked for an accessory at the same time. But at least now you have some shoes that will not crush your toes when you go for a run!

Oh 2ta I hope you have gotten some sleep, with all you are doing! I mean you have moved your parents, unpacked for them, you let your DD move back in, and you prolly do all the laundry, dishes, and take out the trash. You need some ME time, girl!

I agree wahine. It sounds like 2TA has too much on her to-do list. I hope she will take your wise advice to heart, and make some time for herself soon.

I know, 2ta you are doing too much there and need to find someplace to wind down and get some rest!

Thanks Wahine and Curveball! Will do what I can. Just rested yesterday, DD home sick, no plumbers or flood folks yesterday. Fell asleep early, now wide awake. I want a couple more hours sleep as the plumber will be here early to check on concrete slab to see if its dry. They will be here early, I don't want to be sleepy when I GREET them.

If you could send your plumber my way, it would be great. The faucet in my kid's bathtub is going "drip, drip, drip" and it can be such a waste of water!

Hope the plumber does a good job, and does not have any beer or lager before he gets there! I remember once I hired a guy to spray the ceiling (back when it was popular) and he seemed either drunk or high from the fumes of the spray stuff! He did a good job though, amazingly. Oh my and now Jane needs a plumber too. Yikes. Good luck to both of you!!! Oh, and I hope your DD gets well soon, 2ta!

Would love to send plumber your way Jane and Wahine! I always thought "plumbers butt" was a cliche but apparently it isn't! Bigger job than we want. Too bad it's the wrong time of year - would enjoy a beer with a LAKER game. DD just has a slight fever, she says she got from one of the kids she teaches (swimming lessons).

Hmmmm......I didn't need a plumber, but could use a good baker! I have such a sweet tooth. Thats awesome that your DD teaches kids how to swim! Tonight I get to take my 8yo g'dau to dinner and a children's theatre production of Music Man. Should be fun!

Oh Wahine, how much fun that will be! Enjoy your time tonight! I am lucky that my DD BAKES the best goodies and sweets! Her specialty is cupcakes and cookies, and I eat my share. (And it shows). With our water off while they're working on replacing the pipe, she got this desire for dirt and worms. Sounds gross, but yum.

Dirt and worms?! What's up with that? I hope it is nothing weirder than a sudden desire to work in the garden, but in your part of the country your DD should be careful if she turns over any rocks looking for worms. There could be a poisonous snake underneath. Lucky for me, in this part of the country, there are only non-venomous ones.

Still no water, 2ta? Hope it won't be too much $$$. Nice that your DD is a good baker, so is mine, and I love her cakes, especially her carrot cake. Yum. Yeah, whats up with the dirt and worms? Gardening like Curve mentioned, or making cupcakes look like dirt and adding gummy worms??? You ARE lucky curve, that you don't have poisonous snakes, we have our fill of them here. The only ones in Hawaii were in the zoo, till the brown snakes  started hitching rides in tire rims from planes that left from Guam. Not sure if they caught them all as that was many years ago.

Ewww, for goodness SAKES, I can't handle snakes of any kind. Didn't know about the Hawaiian snakes. I would faint if I saw one.

We have water now, and walls full of holes! Can't wait till the industrial fans have done their jobs! The kids' dessert is made of cool whip, instant chocolate pudding, Oreo cookie crumbs and gummy worms.

Glad the leaks have been fixed....now to fix the walls! Hmmmm....their dessert sounds interesting. I may have to stake out a place in line to try some. (At least the coolwhip and pudding can be sugar-free)

@2TA, LOL, now I understand about the dirt and worms! Maybe for an encore, your DD can make a Mud Pie. I think it looks just about perfect in the linked photo....no wait! Isn't that raspberry on top just a tiny bit askew?

Yum. the mud pie looks great! It might be weeks before I show her this as she might want to make it and my waistline could use the break! You're right about the raspberry, looks like it fell off!

@2TA, if you want to give your waistline a break, I guess you will be eating leeks and other veggies rather than rich desserts for a while.

I know, its a question of whether the sweet food meets our mouth before our mind convinces us otherwise.

(Is that a weird sentence or what? lol)

My eating patterns probably aren't the best. DD has plans for dinner tonight so am trying to plan dinner for the hubs and me tonight. Figuring out which of the MEATS in the fridge to use (DD doesn't eat beef). Don't want to leave it for the last minute.

Wahine, it might be strange elsewhere, but it's perfect for this word game (at least I think so). I know I have to write weird things to fit the rules

@2TA, if I haven't turned your previous post around backwards in my mind, the fact that your DD won't be there for dinner makes your choice an easy one. If there's beef in the fridge, eat it tonight, and save the things she will eat until some time that she'll be eating dinner at your home. Or do you have so many different cuts of beef that you still have to decide between multiple options?

Curveball, that was short-lived! She changed her plans & was home for dinner. No STEAK for me tonight! I have very little beef in the house but was eyeing a small steak. Just threw together some chicken and did a STEAM on some veggies. (See Wahine, I have to twist some words to make them work too).

How is everyone else spending their Saturday evening?

I was trying to help my mom send her new mailing address to a magazine she subscribes to. Between us we tried it at least four times with two different web browsers, but no success. I don't know how they managed to take something as simple as a change of address, and make it so hard that two college graduates can't do it in half an hour!

We also set up a gmail account for her as she will have a different internet service provider at the new place. I get so fed up when I sign up for things online. They always say "by clicking here, you agree to the terms of service" and then when you read what you're agreeing to, it's umpteen pages of fine print. I needed to open an IRA account earlier this year, and the agreement was a book--literally--with over 30 pages, and within those pages it also had you agreeing to other multi-page documents by signing the first one. My eyes start to glaze over after the first few pages, and sometimes I suspect this is deliberate. I think they want you to just click without reading, like my mom did, or sign in the case of the IRA account agreement, but it makes me nervous to say I agreed to something without at least skimming it.

I agree Curve, it seems like you are signing your life away. And no matter how smart we may be, it is impossible to read all of those terms. I hope the magazine also has a number you can call to do the change of address. It seems there are call centers that handle several magazines. Good luck with that!
