Just thinking of the bears makes me scared!

Oh 2TA, don't be afraid of those silly bears. Just give them a good smack across the nose and they'll turn tail!

I stayed at the house over the weekend. I'm writing from my mom's new place on the common computer 'cos she's been here two weeks tomorrow but the desk still has too many unpacked boxes on it for there to be room to set up her computer. As for my place, there's still no phone or internet yet. There was only one phone jack in the house and it doesn't work. I think previous residents were on C*****t and it looks like they took out the old phone line when they brought in their service. But my mom got internet, cable and phone from them at her old house and after my experience of them I decided to go with "the other guys". Going back to my new place tomorrow with (I hope) the really, truly, next to last load of my stuff from the house. This moving stuff is getting pretty old now, but it's almost done. I've got one more task at the old place but I've forgotten now what it is. After that I get to concentrate on getting my remodel finished.

If a bear takes all the food, I would let him, as long as he would leave me alone!

If anyone has time, would you please pray for my DD1? She is having surgery in the morning to take the lymph nodes out of her neck. Very scary. We have the g'kids tonight, and for a few days, but I will definately be at the hospital in the morning. Thank you!

And if the bear is huge, let him (or her) steal the food, just leave everyone alone please!

Wahine, will absolutely pray for your DD1, you and the whole family!! Please let us know how you all are doing.... Try to get some sleep or rest as you know a lot of people are counting on you!! Hugs to you all!!!

Yes, we will let the bear steal the food, while we get away safely. Later we can figure out how to keep the bears away!

My DD did real well today, surgeons said it went smoothly. She has a LONG incision from her ear to the middle of the front of her neck. She looked good after surgery which surprised me, because I never do! Now to pray that everything is B9! I am tired, long day, then I will go back in the morning. G'kids have been good, in fact I need to get them in bed, they have been up much later than normal. Thanks everyone!

Maybe we can keep the bears away by filling bowls of water not food.

Wahine, hoping youre getting a restful sleep and the morning brings grreat news for your daughter. How long does she have to stay in the hospital?

@2TA, I like the idea of putting out decoy bowls wth just water. Why waste our good food on stupid bears? Especially since they're not real bears!

Just as long as they are little bowls for water. Don't want to leave a humongous amount of water so the bears can fall in. Especially for the little ones. Wouldn't want a cub to fall in a vat of water and he/she stews in this hot weather we've been having.

Yes, it's been HOT here, as well. Plenty of sweat when you walk out the door. Thank goodness for air conditioning. Maybe we should go on an Alaskan cruise?

Normally that would be a sweet idea, but there are SO many bears in Alaska!! My brother lives there (married a native eskimo) and he has to "bear-proof" their remote cabins. They put long nails thru plywood, and put it on the decks, etc., to discourage the bears as they do so much damage. They have LOTS of bear stories!!! One of their cabins is so remote, they can only get to it by their seaplane.

(HI Jane! Haven't seen you here for awhile)

If we wait a few weeks before going to Alaska, maybe all the bears will be in their dens fast asleep for the winter and we won't have to think of ways to keep them from bothering us. It will be cooler by then too. But maybe there is no need to worry about bears on a cruise. They aren't going to swim out to sea where the ship is, are they?

And we will be returning home from the cruise before the bear wakes up!

Do you ever get the word and can't fit it in. Sentence that works with the topic? Had the word LEASE (which leads to "leash") for hours so I give up on the sentence.

OH GOOD...can I use "leash"??? Would hate to think I had my dog on a leash when in reality it was really that bear!!!! LOL ;)

oh my, I think I better run from this bear...but I'm definitely out of shape. As it is Sept. 1st, I think it's time to start a new workout routine.

Good idea Jane....we could incorporate more vegetables and fruits such as pears into our diet! (I have been on the treadmill daily but now to tackle better eating habits!)

yes, and I could actually stop turning a deaf ear whenever my doctor starts to plead that I get more exercise. I really tried yesterday--I was going to ride my bike, but got a flat tire within a few minutes and had to give up. But I will change the tube and try again!

When I'm good, low carb and exercise leads me to weight loss and fitness. I need to be consistent now, as my scale is not happy today. Although I did go for a nice 3 mile walk with DH yesterday overlooking Lake Michigan. Curve, you have motivated me to check my tires and maybe get the bike out, too!

My main problem (I think) is eating healthier meals. I try to do well at home, but when we are out I order all the wrong food (purposely)!

Wahine, eating out really tests the resolve. The smell of bread or french fries can be really tough when I know I can't have them. I really miss sourdough bread Cry

I love a bread that just melts in my mouth!

(On a serious note, I just booked a trip to HI, so I really do have to do something so I can fit into a swimsuit!!! lol)

What STYLE of swimsuit do you have in mind, one-piece or two? Or perhaps something even more daring???

The phone company tech came last Friday and put in new phone jacks, but alas, when I went to set up my Mac computer, which had been in storage for almost a year and a half, I discovered that the power supply wasn't in the box with the computer, nor in any of the other logical places for it to be. I decided I didn't want to wait until I find it in the normal course of unpacking, which could take months, so I went to the Apple store to get a new one. They don't have the power supply for such an old computer in stock, so I will have to go back to the store to pick it up when it comes in. Meantime I am using my next oldest computer, but the browser is so outdated I am having problems posting on bco. I can read everything but can't seem to get my cursor to appear in the text box to post a reply. I'm typing this in a text editor, maybe I can copy and past it in. Hmm, ran a couple of updaters and now Safari appears to be working. It crashed the first few times I tried to use it but appears to be behaving now. However, I seem to have lost my formatting capacity so I will have to use all-caps for my new word like 2TA does.

Glad you have a computer to use till you have your other cord! Well, in my younger svelte days it would have been a bikini, but now its a boring one-piece. At least it should be sunny in Hawaii, doesn't even sleet there!

Hey Sheila, Hope you post here again!!

I think if I wore a bikini, I would look better covered up with a sheet. Maybe I can find a cute Hawaiin print sheet!  Hope you have an awesome trip, Wahine!
