New Want To Play A Word Game

WooHoo! Yes, our Curve will be in her own new place soon...yay! Now remember to look EVERYWHERE so you don't leave a scrap of anything that you might still want. Good luck!
0 -
And just before you scram, take in one last look and say good-bye to the memories!
0 -
And next week Curve camps out in her new home!! We should have a party....
0 -
And don't forget the signs for the party! We'll need a CLAMP to hold them down
0 -
oooh, no party at my place, especially not next week!! It's still all torn up. It's even looking like the finishing touches may have be delayed some months. The construction looks like running well into September, and if the rains start early this fall, the exterior painting will have to wait until the house dries out again next spring.
Anyway, I'm a member of The Hermit Club, so parties aren't my "thing". Being a hermit is also why the house's location is a secret. We introverts need ample doses of alone-time to keep our batteries charged, and I want to keep the house a place where I can be sure to find solitude when I need to. That's why the only people I've told exactly where it is are my immediate family, and only a few of them have been there yet.

Don't worry Curveball, I won't take a PLANE to find you out. Besides, we can always meet for a dinner, even a near-by town so your residence won't be revealed. You can be safe with your solitude if you wish.
0 -
Of course we will give you your privacy, Curve! We won't look for any roads or lanes or drives, that your house might be on. It will stay your personal solitude, a place for you to just do what you want to do. Sounds perfect actually! How about just having a cyber party to celebrate all the work you have done?
(On that note....we have been home more than usual, because of my parents and also my DD who will need extensive surgery. SO, now my DH has noticed how beautiful our back yard is, like a retreat...soooo many birds (well we do have 6 diff feeders!) and so many huge trees, it just looks so lush. All my flowers are flowering, and very healthy and plants are HUGE. Esp this year as we have had tons of rain all summer, very unusual to still have everything so green and lush in August! So, we are enjoying our time here, although we may go off this weekend.)

Wahine, your yard sounds like a paradise! You know, the one thing I hate to find in my garden is a snail. They seem to love hostas and they leave holes in mine.
0 -
One of our dogs will run and try to chase away the squirrels away from the bird feeders when we say "squirrel". Doesn't have to snarl or bark, just the running will chase them away.
0 -
Wouldn't be cool if the squirrels would learn to snarl at the dogs?
0 -
Noooooo 2ta, lol! If the squirrels start snarling at the dogs, then my dogs will have to camp out under the bird feeders early in the morning! Nothing against squirrels, but they eat sooooo much bird seed, and my DH gets the really good stuff for the BIRDS, not for the squirrels. Gotta find a good solution......

Wahine, it's CLEAR I didn't get the actual picture in my mind. I just saw the funny picture in my mind (like a cat growling at a dog) before I posted
0 -
That IS a funny picture, 2ta! Now if it were up to my DH, he would prolly want to crate up all the squirrels and relocate them!
0 -
Now, if I really wanted to be funny, I'd say something like:
To get all the squirrels in the crates, your DH would have to be a master-BATER, but that may not be nice. So, instead, I'll just say, I'll get back to you LATER (Wahine, please don't read anything into this, it's just a silly word game). Oops, but then again, the stuff in the crates is bait, not bate. I'm not a GREAT speller0 -
LOL, that was funny, I love it! AND you used so many words!!! So I guess we will continue from your LAST word....*great*....hmmmmm.....let me think.....got it....
The squirrels must think my DH is giving them a treat everytime he fills the bird feeders. (But your words were funnier!!) Speaking of DH, he had a HARD fall in the middle of the night in this dark hotel room...he's still in excruciating pain but wouldn't let me take him to get looked at. If still bad in the morning we will prolly go home early, and maybe stop at a clinic or ER on the way home, just to make sure everythings ok. HE can hardly walk, so am really hoping it gets better!

So what if you're not a great speller? There wasn't a "right" and "wrong" way to spell each word until relatively recently, anyway. I wouldn't shed any tears over it if I were you.
I'm at my mom's old place for probably the next to last time tonight. The goal is to have the first open house a week from tomorrow, and I think we will make it although we missed the original target date by a month. Oh well, with the view this house has, I bet it will sell quickly.
They will be measuring for my shower wall on Monday. I will tell the contractor to put in the toilet and sink temporarily, even though the shower wall won't be ready for a couple more weeks. I must stay there starting Wednesday!! If I delay delivery of the mattress another week I will be charged storage, and if I stay with my mom I use up her meal "points", besides it being pretty cramped with all the boxes that aren't unpacked yet. I don't sleep so well there either. It's on a very busy corner with heavy bus & truck traffic starting from early morning until quite late at night. My mom doesn't seem to have any problems sleeping (thank heaven), but I woke up before 7 this morning--unheard of for me on a Saturday--and couldn't go back to sleep. I used to live on a bus route when I first moved to WA but that was 30 years ago and obviously I have lost my ability to sleep with heavy traffic right under the window. Now I come to think of it, that was a trolley route, so it ran on electricity and probably wasn't as noisy as the (diesel) buses that go past mom's new place. Got to get in my own place soon!
heeheee, I see wahine posted while I was writing this, but fortunately, my word is a valid play from her word AND all three of 2TA'S

Tee hee hee, too funny! So enjoy playing this word game, TAKES me away from the messes going on around me. Takes all my CARES away.
What progress for you CB! Know the feeling about cleaning up a house for sale, good for you! Sorry you're not getting sleep right now, but soon it will be different! Wishing you a quick sale....
Mom & Dad's house went up for sale last week, offers 2 days later, a third came in even higher so they're in escrow. They cleaned it up so nicely... Now I'm getting them settled in the new place....0 -
Wow, 2TA, that was fast! I hope my mom's house gets offers as quickly. I thought I would be able to get all my things out of the house and into the garage by today, but didn't make it. I did bring a set of shelves for my mom's storage locker over here from the old place. That got one of the larger boxes out of the apartment, which cleared off a small table, so as soon as I finish this message, I hope I'll be able to unpack a box of dishes, and that will get one of the two largest remaining boxes out and loosen things up considerably. After that, I don't think anything more can be done until someone comes and moves the shelves in the kitchen cupboards down to a level where my mom can reach them. That may happen tomorrow, I'm not sure, but I will have to go back to the old place tomorrow after going to the new place earlier in the day, so Mom will be on her own in any efforts to bring order out of chaos in her new apartment.
>>Sigh<< Every time I think I'm finished, some other little thing pops up. Sometimes it seems as if the tasks involved in moving will never come to an end. Not really, that is just my griping. Actually, I think we will make the target for having a first open house next Sunday, even if there are a few little loose ends to tie up.

Curveball, you're making such progress! Maybe it's not that you're not getting things done as fast as you want but'that you set an impossible schedule? (Was trying to make a sentence for FASTS but that didn't work) Hopefully, you will SKATE thru the reminder of this major projection. Wishing you all the best this week and that it not only sells quickly but you get more than you're asking (the market has turned around, both my parents and a friend put their houses up, offers a couple a days later higher than planned. That's what I want for you).

I admit it was an ambitous schedule, but not impossible I don't think. I talked to the contractor today and it looks like this Wednesday is a "go". I talked to my mom when I got back, and they moved her cupboard shelves today, so the unpacking should be able to move forward now at her new place. Also, the man came to make the template for my shower wall today, so that should be ready to install in 2-3 weeks. Hope it's two, rather than three!!
I was leaving for my house this morning to meet the template man, and couldn't find my keys. For a while I even thought I might have left them sitting in the car with the door unlocked and was imagining going downstairs and finding an empty parking space where I had left Peter Prius the previous afternoon.
I mentally retraced my steps to think of the last time I remembered having them, and it was Monday night as I was helping my mom put some things down in her storage locker. I had brought a set of plastic shelves from the old house to the new place and taken some boxes downstairs to storage, now that there was a shelf to put them on. I opened the locker and looked around, but saw nothing--and my keychain is a huge thing with probably two or three dozen keys (so I can't drop it without noticing) and a change purse on it. Then I peered underneath and behind the shelf. Still nothing. Only one more place to check...a big plastic bag with extra struts for the other half of the set of shelves. I gave it a shake, and clink, clink, clink! There were the keys. I'd put them in there because I didn't have a third hand to carry the keychain after I got the shelves out of the car. I'm sure glad I thought of checking that bag or I might be looking still!0 -
THANK GOD you checked that bag, Curve~! Finding your keys must have been such a good feeling. When a good thing like that happens, it heals a lot of the other stress that is going on. Sounds like things are going very well!!!
We got home last night, from 3 nights away. BUT my DH had an awful fall the 1st night, when he got up in the middle of the night. Tripped on a suitcase that *he* left on the floor and he went flying and fell hard. (edit: OOPS I see I had already told you all that!). He was in so much pain he couldn't move for a long while. The next day I still had to help him in/out of the car and he couldn't walk without pain. Seems better today but I still hope he gets checked out and makes sure he didn't hurt anything seriously.
Hope you all are having a good Tuesday!!!! Hugs!

wahine, I'm so glad I thought to check that bag too! I'll tell you, when I thought I might have left the keys in the car, I was feeling pretty stupid, and after more than 6 months, I don't think I can blame it on chemo-brain any more!!
Hope your DH is feeling heaps better now than he was right after he tripped on the suitcase.

Yes, DH is doing lots better...he saw the dr today and he checked out just fine, just might take a few weeks till the pain goes away. Maybe tonight I can count sheep and sleep soundly....woke up a gazillion times last night. But my dad was not doing well last night, and I just worried and worried. He looked much better tonight, and I take him to the dr on Friday. BUT tomorrow I help my DD as she has her big surgery on Tuesday and we will have the g'kids for a few days next week. Bizzy, bizzy......

@wahine, I'm glad to hear your husband is doing better and hope it is the same for your dad. What were you doing with your daughter today, arranging the house so it would be easier for her after surgery? I hope she comes through it in great shape, and the grandchildren don't wear you out too much.
Yesterday night I ate dinner and slept at my new place for the very first time. Hooray!! I'm at my mom's today, and tomorrow I hope I can get the kitchen cabinet selection nailed down. The open house at Mom's old place is postponed until next weekend, but the painter was there today, and a man with a truck is coming, I think Monday, to pick up the rest of the items for Goodwill. Then the house will be really & truly empty, except for a couple loads of my stuff that are still in the garage. I may be back & forth every day next week to get it all out and I'm running out of garage space at new house. Uh-oh!

Thanks curve! I went over to find out about the school work I will be helping them with next week, since they are home-schooled. OMG it is quite a lot! If anyone hears some screaming, it may be me! J/K. She is hoping to get her hair cut off....it is long enough to donate...waaaaay down her back, but after surgery it will be harder to care for, so I am glad she wants it off. Glad you slept in your house last night, that is always a special feeling.
2ta, did the offer for your parents home work out? Have a closing date? Hope so!
0 -
Where is everyone? everyone? everyone? (echo) Hope everyone is ok! Its not like some bears showed up and scared everyone away, is it? I know you are all pretty busy getting parents homes ready to sell, and maybe 2ta was able to close on one of those offers? Anyway, just hope all is well....
0 -
Well if bears come around here, we can just poke them with a spear until they run away.
It's not like they're REAL bears, after all.
0 -
I agree, because if they were REAL bears, I would be doing some leaps and sprints to get out of there asap!
0 -
Sorry ladies, I keep accidentally removing this thread from my favs.... Darn iPad!
Now if they were real bears, I'd SPEAK up and yell!
CB, so glad you're in your new home!! Ahhhhh...., now to settle in.
Wahine, you are always so very busy! I don't know how you do it! Hoping your family is doing better now.
My dad accepted a great offer a couple weeks ago. My brother (who's taking care of financial matters) says escrow is due to close soon.0 -
AND if they were really bears, maybe we could skate away quickly! I know they say sometimes you shouldn't run, but REALLY??? I would want to get out of there asap!
Good for your parents getting a great offer on their home, and so quickly!! Yay!!!!
