HA! Deb, I missed your post until Jaybird quoted you above and, at first, I only read '...because I did it over the phone'!! I was shocked and thrilled that someone was speaking so openly about phone sex! Not so, but since it's been bought up (by me, of course ), I'll put in a plug for it. Both phone sex and cyber-sex, with your partner or whoever, is HOT! JMHO, of course

What does JMHO stand for, "Just my horny opinion?" I'll give myself a pat on the back if I figured that one out right!

I got a small, plain package today with an unknown "Medical Products" return address. I was confused and then thought, "HORRAY!" I waited impatiently for my son to go down for his nap, then ripped into it.....

Booo....it was a replacement pregnancy test from ClearBlue Easy, because I had called about mine not working. Crap!

    Love and prayers, Deb

Ok, so I got my magic wand today....(well, it came when I was out of town this weekend, and I opened it today...). Anyway, what the heck? I am afraid to use it. It is huge! Am I missing something? Did I not get the right item?
    Oh, am I sheltered!
By the way, I am in the NY times today! Check nytimes.com, and look for the chemo brain article!

I just went back and re-read the post about the wand...I see that it is indeed supposed to be large. Hmm....time for bed now...(grin!).

Deb - we were commenting on your Anne Taylor dress in the other thread! Thanks for helping to get the word out about chemo-brain.
Your new accessory is for ahem, external stimulation. Just turn it on at a low setting and let it start massaging in the general vicinity. You'll get the hang of it.

Yes, definitely for external use only...unless you get the attachment. But you can hold off on that if you've got 'the real thing' around

Speaking of which, here's a nice perk I've been enjoying of late....my ex-bf/current FWB seems to have acquired a new skill between the time we broke up last fall and now. He uses his mouth like a vibrator by doing a sort of humming/buzzing thing (like if you're going 'brrrrr' from the cold) and, I swear, it's mighty effective! He assures me that he hadn't been with anyone else during our off period, so I can only assume he's been reading up or watching some very graphic porn. Anyway, who cares. It's way awesome!!!

and just a note of encouragement and cheer - that is because i can report that replens as of late has no longer been neessary for me. and while we're still using lube, it's more of a "just to be sure" (cause we dont' want me to get hurt!).

for those that have read all along, i had big troubles with pain for a while. but we jsut make sure to do it once a week and it seems to be doing the "upkeep" on all the progress we've made. things are slowly continuing to get better and better in the luvin department!! (and yes I am on Tamoxifen.)

just thought it was encouraging news so i'd share!

Oh my goodness...how did this get on page 3? We certainly can't lose this thread! So, to get things going again...I just read about this in Women's Health magazine and thought I'd share:

    Hot Little Pill
In a study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, women taking the supplement ArginMax reported a boost in sex drive. The secret? L-arginine, one of the pill's main ingredients, may help blood flow to the right spot. "L-arginine enhances the production of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels and could improve desire," says Cynthia Finley, a nutritionist at Johns Hopkins University Bayview Medical Center.

If anyone decides to check this out, do let us know how it goes! Wait...come to think of it, why don't I check it out?!

So I'm researching L-arginine with plans to buy some at Whole Foods tomorrow and I come across this:

    http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/herbsvitaminsad/a/Arginine.htm

It seems that this 'Hot Little Pill' helps men too, not to mention our hearts (in the literal rather than the figurative sense, but ya never know!)! Hmmmmmmmm.....

So am I correct in assuming that EVERYONE'S sex lives have normalized and are now awesome???? If so, I say ROCK ON! If not, we might want to keep this thread going, huh?

I will add my contribution (there's a surprise, right? ) by noting that I have actually been taking that L-arginine and, until last night, thought it was a waste and planned to ditch it. Until I had the quickest O ever (with a real, live man, that is)! YEAH...we'd just gotten busy and, in under 20 seconds it happened. HUH. Prior to that, only the Wand could be that effective, that quickly. Soooooooo....I'm thinking that they might be on to something here. It makes sense too since the stuff is usually recommended to help ED because it improves blood flow. Well we have blood flow too.....APPARENTLY!!!!

So I say check with your docs and then CHECK IT OUT....unless you don't need or want to enhance your sexual pleasure, girls

    :::adding L-arginine to list:::

Hey - I take L-glutamine for my chemo symptoms, L-lysine for my mouth and lips, and they seem to have been of benefit. What's one more? How much have you personally found to be an uhm, effective dose, Marin?

Lisa...I read that 1,000 mg was a usual dose, so I decided to start with 500 and only took it for a week. My FWB said that I didn't need to enhance my libido, but he sure didn't mind the effect . Yes, Lisa, I absolutely recommend you try it...I say that even if things are just fine, you can ALWAYS stand for them to be even better!

I'm sure I saw l-arginine at Trader Joe's in their "Trader Darwin's" aisle. I will have to check it out. Hey, between the wand and the "guy" named Trader Joe who needs a b/f? LOL

Marin - are you taking an l-arinine supplement straight or are you using product targeted specifically for sexual enhancement. GNC has Arginmax for both male and female and I was thinking of trying that? It has lots of other 'stuff' in it but it also has 2.5G of l-arginine. It also has Biotin but it's probably not enough to be of value for our hair - would still need the Biotin supplement. Pls let me know what you think.

Phyl...I had never heard of L-arginine until a few weeks ago and I didn't know about Arginmax until your post here. So I looked up the research on it and it sounds amazing!

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query...p;dopt=Abstract

As for biotin, I already am overdosing on that in order to keep up this headful of hair! The only thing that seems like it could be a problem is the ginseng and ginkgo because they slow down blood clotting, so if someone takes a prescription blood thinner, aspirin or, in my case, fish oil, she should be careful and watch out for bruising or bloody noses. After all, what good is enhanced libido and better orgasms when no one can touch you or you'll bruise or bleed?!

Just to be extra sure about singing the praises of this stuff, I guess we all should check it out with our docs or nutritionists. I'm going to posta question about it over on 'Alternatives...' to see what feedback I get from girls like Rosemary and Blinded by Science, so maybe y'all want to check over there too.

Wouldn't it be very cool if this 'natural' stuff could really help those who finish treatment with these libido and response problems?

Wow - that's great Marin - thanks for the link. I think I'm going to pick up a bottle but I will check with my doc and see what she has to say. This could be an awesome find. Also need to pick up some biotin to see if I can push along this stubble (bristle) on my head. I just had my last chemo today so I'm already excited and reading this abstract definitely added to it.
    Thanks again.

So y'all, it's been 2 weeks that I've been taking this stuff and with only the minimum dosage, I'm already noticing a difference. Though I confess that I spent quite a bit of time thinking about sex before taking L-arginine , I'm fairly obsessed with it now! It's all good though because it's more like I'm just more aware of my sexuality and I feel very sensual all of the time. Very nice indeed. As for the orgasms, they are definitely quicker to happen and somewhat (not loads) more powerful. I'd say that the effect, overall, has been mild but definitely discernible. And yes, I'm gonna keep taking it!

Giving it 3-4 briquets (isn't that how Sue J. rates stuff?)

This is great to know, Marin! Because I'm so highly hormone+++, my docs WANT me in chemopause, and 43 is too young to lose my mojo. I love this thread.

Yeah, it does seem like this could be the answer for some women, at least in part. I think that the lubrication issue might need to be addressed separately (not sure because I'm okay with that and didn't notice any changes from the L-arginine), but that new stuff from K-Y, called Intrigue, looks...well, intriguing!

    Ok...

so i posted ages ago needing some advice in this department and took myself off to a sex store and bought up large! lubes, toys, (pocket rocket- thanks for the tip!), etc in anticipation for when my dh returned home from a 6 month deployment with the army. AND nothing. Zilch. Zip. Nadda. What do I do??? he has been home 5 weeks now and seriously we get to the point of penetration and I cry after literally 5 secs and that is it! I just CANNOT do it. Worst thing is he goes away again next weekend for 5 weeks.

I have tried every lube known to man, toys, everything I can think of. Being ER+ I am on zoladex indefinately and cannot see a way out of this.

    Help please!!

Have you tried methods other than intercourse? BJ, HJ, etc? There are lots of ways to reach orgasm, as I'm sure you know. Penetration is not the end all be all.

I was going to suggest the same approach. Most men will take a well-executed BJ anyday and definitely not complain. Check out the Ian Kerner book 'He Comes Next' (written, of course, after 'She Comes First') for ideas. Also some of the sex toys websites sell videos and books with explicit directions on how to employ a variety of means to arousal and orgasm. I'm guessing, btw, that you've tried different positions? At times when I'm not feeling especially hot and excited, I find that doggie style is just easy....and there again, most men totally don't complain!

If I come across other ideas, I'll post them. Don't give up!

Leanne - My gyn suggested we try Eros lubricant and it is better than the ones at the drug store. DH got it at one of the "XXX" stores. I too have been taking L-Arginine (also suggested by gyn) but no difference with it. I am taking 2 capsules/day - I guess I can go up to three. My DH has been very understanding, but I feel bad for him that I have little interest in sex. I do love cuddling, but that is not the be all to end all for him. We do try other ways for him. All the best to you. Karen in denver

    Hi

Thanks guys. It really is the gift that keeps on giving isn't it??

We use the eros lubricant and it is much better being silicone based as it doesn't dry out or absorb thank god. All positions are painful but being a man he is very receptive to other means of arousal!! Sometimes though I would LOVE to be able to have sex- I have explained it to dh as him wanting to do it, still finding me attractive but not being able to get it up!! Once I described it like that he finally got it!

    Back to the drawing board...
