Thank you, tink! She is so smart and funny, too. I think she has a complete grasp of the English language including words like "the" and "and"! Sometimes I have to leave the room if I'm talking about something like FOOD or WALKING, just like with a little child. She also walks across the room on her back legs and spins around on them, too. I think she taught herself, because I don't remember trying! I got her because we had always just had cats after my son was born and I wanted him to know what a dog was like. Really, you have to try to expose your kids to so many seemingly inconsequential things, but he might have never had a pet dog if he didn't know Molly.

I have taken generic Tamox since I first started last year. I have no drug coverage with my insurance except for generics and so I started with that.

I just have a question for you gals....Have ANY of you had one ear plug up? Like everything sounds "muffled" on my left side. I think I asked you this before, and I'm waiting for my PC to call back tomorrow for a referral to an ENT...I tried all the other suggestions....ear is "clean", but the problem is in the other ear. Nasal rinsees, Claritin, Nasal spray, Humidifier, & nothing helped. This has been going on for over 2 months, & I'm a little perturbed...I SLEEP well though!
It couldn't be the Tamoxifen, could it? That sounds so far-fetched, I know, but I'll ask when I ever get to go see the ear guy...

Tinkertude...thanks...two nights in a row where I actually slept through the night and wake up after 9am...also trying to wait until I am tired so 1am last night but to bed early tonight since it is a school night. What a difference...I feel clearer when I wake up with just part of a pill and glycine. We shall see. I will play wih the amounts.
Chevyboy...weird about the ear...no idea what that could be.....infection? bloackage? Surely it must be unconnected to Tamoxifen, a coincidence .... but if it isn', hopefully yur dr. can give you something while your body adjusts to it.

Anyone have problems with TMJ and Tamox? I'm doing fantastically well on the stuff, but whammo. I had mild TMJ (clicky jaw, some stiffness) and now it is definitely exacerbated. I wear a bite plate, doesn't seem to be helping. Thoughts?

I got an early start to the day - couldn't sleep in.

Jo I am all over that breakfast, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!
Chevyboy the ear thing sounds odd, have you had it looked at yet? Is your hearing affected at all? I miss reading your post, where have ya been??
Tinkertude the chest is fine today and the morning after. Just odd how it tends to flare up for no reason. It is just so sporadic.... My husband really thinks it's the radiation as he said nothing good can come from being radiated, that I am going to have long term problems that are not foreseeable now.......needless to say, he thought I should have had a mastectomy instead of lumpectomy to avoid being radiated..... However, I told him that I think the good is hopefully being able to get any stray cells left behind......
Sandee glad to hear you are sleeping better, In the very beginning of me taking Tamox I had the hardest time sleeping and again I told my doc and he said it cannot be from the Tamox as that is not a SE......well after many months (and I know you don't want to hear that) it finally got better.....
MHP70 I too suffer from TMJ and have had it since childhood, however I do notice I seem to be more tense in that area and the jaw is more painful certain days and I just deal with it.....What else can I do? Let me know what happens, as I am curious......
Harley44 how is your head??

MPH70..I also have had TMJ for years. It became really imflamed when I was diagnosed. I had lots of pain, went to my dentist and he said I was clenching alot of night probably due to stress.."I was like PROBABLY???? You think?..He kinda "popped my jaw back into place and believe it or not that really didnt hurt it was a relief.. anywayhe made me a night gaurd to take the pressureof the jaw and it has helped out alot. I can feel the difference when I forget to put it in. You said you have a gaurd though? Do yu waer it at night? Maybe your jaw is out of joint so to speak. .good luck
CHEVYBOY..I too have one ear that is clogged on and off but truthfully it was ike that before Tamoxifen. I do notice I have a whole lot more sinus drainage stuff going on though sonce starting..hmm I wonder if thats related too!..

Up till now, have been doing great on Tamox - almost one month. Now the nausea is back - it is mild but I know it is there. Anyone else have the on and off again nausea? This really sucks.
No, I did not indulge in that big breakfast. LOL
0 -
I have never been diagnosed with TMJ but often thought I had it. I have terrible clicking jaws.
I have not had nausea in about 3 days. SO glad but going to up the dose today and we'll see. I have also been sleeping good...a little harder/deeper then before since drinking the gelatin at night. Not sure if it's related, too early to tell. (it's been 3 nights or so) But I will continue with it. I also ordered some Glycine and it will be here Weds. I will try that as well.
I wonder if the Gelatin has anything to do with the nausea? or just a coincidence? Same amount of days I've been taking and nausea has gone away.

Hi everyone -
On the TMJ topic, it makes sense that we would notice a difference, given the stress of this "journey" as well as tamoxifen's effect on other joints. I feel it most in my hips - there are days when I'm so creaky I feel like I'm about 80 - but my jaw has also been worse lately.
On the ear thing, just because it feels like your ear is clogged doesn't necessarily mean that's what it is. I would definitely get it checked out. I'm only 40, but I started to notice significant hearing loss about 4 years ago and have gone through ear surgery, tubes, decongestants and a lot of complaining, with no improvement and no explanation as to why it's happening. Anyway, especially after the ear tubes were put in one ear felt like it was clogged because I felt like I couldn't hear a darn thing, and unfortuntately it never got better. Chemo can also damage your hearing, so that's something to consider too.
And to tie the two topics together, there is anecdotal evidence that TMJ can affect your hearing.
The fun never stops!

Good Morning All,
I have noticed that I wake up some mornings and my molars hurt, I think I am clenching my jaw when I sleep and I don't wonder why. I also notice that I'm holding my breath too much. It's getting better than when I first got the diagnosis last summer, but I have a way to go.
Why I really got on here this morning is to share this with all of you. My Naturopathic Oncologist's Office is beginning an e-mail newsletter for Cancer Thrivers (not just "mere" Survivors) 2 of the Oncologists are Cancer Thrivers themselves - one experienced our journey herself. So, here's the link, if you'd like to sign up and/or see the first issue:
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday wherever you are!

Yup, that's what I want to be too ~ a Thriver! We can do this ladies, and I know it's stealing the Prez's line but, YES WE CAN!

Thanks you guys! Yes, the Doc is who told me to do the month thing with Claritin, and all the rest, but it didn't help....I can "hear"...just that it is muffled through my left ear....like I am underwater or something. She is referring me to an ENT...hopefully soon! Yes, it is my inner-ear...because I've used the "ear candles" and cleared my ears out good! But it's in the Eustachian tube..the Doc says.....
I read you gals all the time, but sometimes I can't contribute, or make you feel better! I'm so sorry about those dag-nabbit hot flashes you all have! If I could think of some ways to help you, I'll be here in a flash.... Have a warm Sunday....it's supposed to be getting so cold here! I mean like 2 degrees Tuesday, down to minus 15! I just want Spring... ...xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
And Hi Tink! You kids go ahead and party, with all those luscious drinks...oh wait, maybe I will make a White Russian in awhile....Ha, ha

June 2268 - I have never beed a 'good sleeper' but have never needed the full on 8 hours that most need..until post radiation...and my sleep deteriorated when my parter of 16 years left ...his breathing, my contentment all helped me to sleep. Since radiation, something in my heart and soul has clicked back on and I am sleeping better ...still taking the zopliclone and will do so until I am fully engaged in being able to sleep on my own..realize the early menopause, the tami and my own reeling mind are causing this so I have given myself permission to take the damn pill and sleep....but the glycine and meditation classes and exercize, I am hoping, will get me off it earlier...
To be honest, I have also been sleeping better sinc eposting on these discussion boards....my heart is lighter...makes a huge difference to my overall well being to be in conact with other gals across the continent who know what I am going through...keeps me strong. So thank you all! What a gift this site it.

Sandee I feel the same way, it is so nice to be able to communicate with other women who are going through something similar. Hard for friends to REALLY get it and they can be the best friends a girl can have but still not understand fully......I may not post all the time, but this is definitely a fun thread......happy Sunday to all and I am looking forward to see what Jo comes up with for a picture tonight.....0

Hi My Tami Train friends...I was gone traveling but back now. Have been on the train at full dose - 20 mg - since Jan 6, so going on 4 weeks. Chevyboy had said to take charge of it and after a call to my oncology nurse I just jumped on board. So far so good, with main SE of warm flashes...nothing too bad or uncomfortable so far. Wishing you all the best!! ~Beans

BEANS!!!!!! Congratulations! So far so good! I know about the "warm waves".....sometimes they like to hang around, but it might come in handy, as cold as it's supposed to get!

Beans - Where have you been? I have really missed you. Thought about you today and many times in the past several weeks. So glad you are back.
I got on the train the same day you did and so far so good - just a few "warm waves" as Chevyboy called them. I like that reference - have to remember that one.

phxsunshine - thanks for the link! That sounds like a great idea, and I really, really want to thrive again!
Welcome back, Beans! Hope the traveling was for fun, not work! But hey, even if it's work, we can make it fun! They may take away our boobies, but they can't stop us from having fun!

Chevyboy: I woke up one morning and couldn't hear at all out of one ear. When I went to the doctor they found out that it was plugged with wax! They had to "flush out" my ear with a water-pick kind of thing. What came out was gross and a big huge blob about the size of a pea. I got the impression it is pretty common for that to happen.
