Oh, I almost forget - I have decided to take the pill!! We are headed for Jamaica next Saturday for a much needed break so I think it might be best to begin to take it once I am back and then I can closely manage any reactions. What do you think, ladies?

I was told not to take any anti-oxidants while on radiation...but that once that was done, I could go back on them...so I am back on Vit D (2000), calcium/magnesium, vit C in cold/flu season, salmon oil (maybe don't need that with the cholersteroal support Tamoxifen provides?) ....Not sure that a lot of docs know about vitamins. My gp years ago-( not my current brilliant doctor!) knew nothing baout vitamins or diet....should have switched years ago! Diamondgirl, look forward to the link to read up on this!

Teklya - I would definitely wait until I got back before starting the pill. You don't know what, if any, side effects you will have and you don't want to spoil a vacation like that. I love Jamaica and will be visiting there in April. Can't wait to get some rum cakes and Blue Mountain coffee. If you are a coffee drinker and have not had Blue Mountain - you gotta try it - it is fabulous.
Like they said in Jamaica - No Problem Mon!

Teklya - good plan to wait and start. Hopefully you wan't ahve any reactions but by postponing starting it you will be able to enyoy your vacation more. Can you please bring back some warm weather and sunshine. I have never been to Jamaica but am considering. It is my and husband's 25th anniversary this year so we are looking to go somewhere special that is not too expensive.
Harley - they did my D&C under anesthesia so I didn't feel a thing. Last week in the office he put a probe up through my cervix. That did not feel good.

Teklya, yes I agree, wait. Go enjoy that vaca and come back to start.
Tink, thank you!!
Jo, the buffett looks awesome as usual. Much better than what I really had this morning!! And wow!! 2,000 posts and you joined the month after me?? I've got some posting to do!! LOL

Jo - brunch was great but I couldn't find the biscuits and gravy. I do like to try out other peoples just to stay on top of my game. At the memorial service for a Texan who had retired here his sister told me that the last time he visited them they went out for breakfast and he told the waitress that the biscuits and gravy there was very good but to get the best ever you had to go to the Senior Center here.0

Ladies I have been lurking on this thread since learning I would have to take the Tammy pill (though have not yet started, waiting for my oncotype score to come in first). Although I am now aware of the SE of this pill, you ladies crack me up with your humor — and your food! A welcome respite from this cavernous pit we call cancer.
EASTCOASTGRL I can relate to your prob. with your friend acting like nothing major is going on with you. I found another thread that may help ya vent ... we talk about how tired we are of putting on the "happy face" to everyone around us. I suspect we all can relate! Keep up the good fight and the good posts! ;-)

EastCoastGrl - I have been very busy keeping you ladies well fed and I love to post pictures.
Chabba - I live in Texas and biscuits & gravy are one of our specialties. Kinda late in the day but here you go. Enjoy!

Looks good Jo. mmmmmmm Yum. Think I will stay with my own receipe for sourdough biscuits though. The customers would run me out of town if I changed it. Some weeks I even have to make extra for customers who order them to take home.

I tried to refrain from teasing --tinked or tanked?
0 -
Tink - You must be tanked. LOL! The piggies are still acting up but not as much today. Have tried to stay off them as much as I can and give them some rest.
We 49 days until we sail on our cruise. Booked the shore tours tody. We will be going to a Rum Estate in Jamaica, doing some shopping in the Caymans and the best one of all - snorkeling in Cozumel. Now I am really ready to go.

Chabba I think she is going to get tanked tonight.......ha ha Seriously Tink I hope you have a fantastic night out.....I will miss you on the train tonight!
Okay so getting more paranoid about the freaking toe as my feet were numb last night while lying in bed and the toes are just plain ole bothering me today, left foot only. Do you guys think it is from the Biotin I started. I always had the cramped toes, but minimal, not a lot.....now it seems worse than ever. I stopped taking the biotin as I started last Saturday. Tamox or Biotin or am I just plain ole crazy.......

June - Something very strange is going on here. My freaking toes were numb last night just on the left side and I have not been taking Biotin. Never had the toe thing before but am going to find out about it on Monday when I go see my onc. This is crazy - gotta be the Tamox. Pain not so bad today - have been staying off the feet as much as possible.0

CHABBA lol Tinked or tanked???? maybe both
Jo/June... so sorry ladies it sounds like it has to be the Tamoxifen, Nothing else makes sense. lets us know what the doc says Jo..

Jo I know you have had horrible problems for some time now and mine was just on occasion, maybe a few times a week so I thought maybe it was the Biotin as I just started last week... but to lie in bed and keep rubbing my feet as they felt so numb is just freaking bazaar...........Gosh I really hate the unknowns.....I have to wait until end of March to get any answers as that is when I see my Onc...I hope you will come back with some news from your doc and hopefully it is not Tamox related, but really what else could it be??????
Tink have a fun night you deserve it....

Jo and June, My toe pain, cramping and numbness started soon after I started tammy, before I started Biotin. Always left foot until night before last, had cramping in right foot. Occasional pain in daytime but no where as severe as night pain.

June - I am not actually due to see my onc for my 4 month follow up until mid April but I am not going to wait that long to find out what the toe pain is all about. It is so freaky. Seems like we are not the only ones who have experienced this. I did not want to go through another doctor appt but I just had to give in and go. It is horrible laying in bed at night and rubbing the toes in hopes that they will stop hurting and the numbness will go away. I will let you know what I find out. I am certain it is the Tamox. You may not want to wait until the end of March. You may be able to do something with a phone call.
Sweetie, I feel your pain and I want it to stop in your toes too.

Jo/Chabba I know I need to do something but I am on my 10th month, don't you think this would have started a lot sooner......I hate going to Doc appt's now especially after a year of them basically back to back.....I know we are all in the same boat, it just frustrates me....I am so happy I can vent to you ladies as my husband is beginning to think Tamox is just not going to work out for me, then what......I still worry every day and maybe that will stop once I get a clean report, but not until then. Luv all you guys....THANK YOU!!!
I think it is time for a cocktail! Nite nite ladies.

June - You never know when the dreaded side effects will kick in. I am like you, I need to have a clean report before I can breath a sigh of relief. I hear you about the back to back appts - seems that is all I have done for the past 6 months. Hate the thought of just writing another one on my calendar. But we got to do what we got to do.
Now, the cocktail - is that a hint? Okay, Let's see what I can find. One for me and one for you! Cheers!

Luv you Jo, you are the best!!!

June - I've heard several ladies say tamox SE's vary all over the board as to what we get, when they start and how long they last.

JUNE AND JO and CHABBA I am so sorry you ladies are having such a hard time with the toe pain. It REALLY is scary not knowing when and if a new side effect will pop up.. I agree JUNE the unknown is too scary. I dont like it either. From the day we are diagnosed life changes in so many ways. I agree with Jo I would call your ONC sooner you shouldnt have to wait that long to get answers. My onc has a nurse that calls back with answers and also gave me her email for non emergency questions call them thats their job. You should not have to suffer, I believe the emotional suffering is enough.. hang in there my dear dear friends we will get through this too... in the meantime rest those little piggies as much as you can!!!
hugs to you wonderful ladies xoxo

Morning gals...I just want to know, have any of you Taken the 20mg of Tamoxifen, & switched to the 10mg? And what did you notice? Since my hearing is already shot, & since I am going to Costco tomorrow for hearing aids, I just was wondering if the 10mg would still help us, & not cause any more damage to my stupid ears!0
-
Good Morning ChevyBoy,
I'm taking the 20mg in the morning with my coffee and toast. So far, so good I think that I would talk to your oncologist about splitting the dose or cutting it down altogether before deciding to do that.
I've been reading about your hearing loss and I really don't know what to say. I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. Hopefully it is a passing side effect, but in any event, I would definitely get the hearing aids. I'm praying that it will only be temporary!

Chevyboy... I am not sure if this is what you mean but I take 10mg in the am and 10mg in the pm. They actually did help with the side effects. My Onc had told me in Nov when I asked if I could plain ol lower the dose, she said unfortunelty studies dont show the effectivness of a lower dose, that was the lowest recommended does 20mg/day but it was ok to split it... Have you noticed anymore of a change with your ears?? hugs!

June - Again, don't be stubborn and wait until the end of March to see your onc. I was going to wait until the middle of April and went ahead and called for the appt. Tink is right - we shouldn't have to suffer with physical pains - the emotional pains from BC is bad enough. Just do it girlfriend.
Chevyboy - I'm sorry you are still having hearing problems. Unfortunately, I have to agree with Tink that you will need to take the full dose even if it is a split dose. 10mg is not going to be enough to provide the protection we need to combat this awful beast. Hopefully the hearing aids will help.
