Happy Friday morning to all.  TGIF.   I had to laugh at Navygirl - even saw her in person and she is just as funny and charming in person as she is here.   AND, we gonna have Messican food on Sunday with some other BC gals, which is a big SOI.

My IOS was big time bone and joint pains last night after Herceptin.  I needed a pain pill to sleep, but that meant I was up at 6 am.   I have coffee, a left over donut and will hang in there until the maintenance men get here to (hopefully) replace the new, but broken, window in my apartment.   A nap should reve me up for at least the early bird bingo session (42 games).   Overall, not that bad a day planned.

    Hugs and blessings,  Nancy

Oooooh, you girls make me laugh!!!

Related note:  my BS gave me her cell phone # within 5 minutes of my meeting her, BEFORE I'd even been biopsied and diagnosed, because she acknowledged how sucky the waiting was.  Also, offered me something for anxiety.  Also, she happens to be an Ob/gyn -- she was an ob/gyn first then became a BC surgeon, too.  So, that's a really handy thing since she can monitor me for that stuff now, too.

Nancy, so sorry you're having such a hard time with pain.  You, too, Sue.  That surely sucks.

Hugs and a THAT SUX to all who need them.

Fumi, how are you?  As usual, you are the soul of thoughtfulness.  Thank you for your message about our sister.

Hi Ladies...I hope the lack of activity is due to everyone enjoying their first taste of summer! (at least here on the East Coast it is!)

Ob visit went well - as well as being naked under fluorescent lights with your legs up in the air can go anyway!

KAK..that's one hell of a good doc you have! I'm jealous. All my BS gave me is a bc pad and pen to write down my questions.

Nancy...you're making me blush :) Looking forward to lunch tomorrow! I hope we can sit inside because it's gonna be hot and sitting in the sun eating mexican food could be too much for me! I hope you are feeling better by now so you can enjoy yourself tomorrow!

Jane...no matter how you look at it with CVS, that's a problem!

Prayer...I can't believe you have to wait 3 weeks...THAT SUX!

Everyone else...HUGS and have a good weekend...I'm gonna go waste some time figuring out the whole "facebook" thing. My sister and neice got me on it and now I'm trying to figure out how to use all the icons and gadgets...I swear, it's enough to make you feel old!

To all who are in pain, a BIG GENTLE HUG is being sent your way!  And... a THAT SUX!

    Kathi,

You have a great dr.!  I wish my surgeon was also my gyn.

    navygirl,

I am on Facebook.  I'll send you my name, so we can be FB friends!

I'm jealous, because I used to live in Columbia, MD, and if you guys are meeting in MD, or in VA, I may have been able to meet you, too!   But, now I live in NC.

    Have a great time!!

    Hugs

ELAINE!! How are you? I don't remember seeing you this past week...did I brain fade and miss you? Either way, glad to see you post!

Harley...Lunch was fabulous! We met in Arlington...with a short detour around the pentagon and Arlington National Cemetary first :) We all lived on the edge and tried something called fried Yucca - which looked like a banana, had the consistency on the inside of a potato or french fry...really (to me) didn't have much flavor - but came with a sauce to dip in that literally (Nancy, am I lying here...) set your mouth on fire. I had a tinsy weeny bite of it and my tummy is on fire right now! Other than that little eye watering experience it was good.

I have an SOI to share! Today, prepping for the lunch out...I hesitantly put on a pair of pre-chemo shorts...and they FIT!!! Yeah!!! I know I lost weight but it's always a little nerve racking when you try on something old...if it doesn't fit it's disappointing that you haven't lost ENOUGH weight. I need another 15lbs and I'll be happy....25lb and I'll be estactic! At least for now, I'm content my pre-chemo clothes are fitting.

I'm off to have another lesson on how to use facebook...it's so addicting Cool

    Hey, Elaine!

Yeah, Harley, are those fires near you?  Didn't they start with someone's back-yard fire?  How awful.  And stupid, because there have been brush fire warnings even here in RI recently.

Navy, I'm sorry you had to have chemo, but I'm tickled for you (and envious) that you lost weight!  I've got to take off a few pounds myself, which I've put on because of long-term, post-radiation exhaustion and recent mammogram-related stress eating (chocolate cheesecake), but, hey, I didn't get drunk and I didn't start smoking again.   I just have to get back to the gym, and finally I feel like I have the energy to do so.  I need to pare off about 20 lbs, so why don't we do a buddy system?  I made a date to start back to the gym this coming week.  So, let's cheer each other on?  What do you say?  I suppose we could visit one of the get-in-shape threads, too, for some moral support.  Good luck with FB.

Many gentle hugs and A POX ON SUCKAGE! for those that are in need.

    Hi all,

DH was away last week so I was doing things like laundry, shopping etc (he does all!) was really tired and wiped out between that and the crummy weather. I had planned on resting a lot but that just didn't happen. This week for sure.

Hope everyone is well..I'm all for cheering each other on re gym and better eating!

Off to birthday dinner for dd and dh (18 and 50 this weekend)

Kak - I'd like to join.  But, since I seldom stay with anything for too long, I'll probably drop out long before I've dropped the 20 lbs.  Is there somewhere we can get our lips stapled??

    Hey Elaine, Navy, and Kathi,

We are just fine!  The fires were in the Myrtle Beach area, and we live close to Myrtle Beach, but we are far enough away that it wasn't a problem.  In fact, they evacuated some folks up to MY area!

Yes, irresponsible people starting fires!!  Down here in the South, people are allowed to burn brush, or trash, or whatever...  I know when I lived in MD, they don't allow fires.

    Navy,

I'm jealous!!  I wish I could have met you for lunch!!  It's great that you were able to wear those shorts!  I lost alot of weight when I was dx'd, but NOW I have gained it all back, PLUS more!

But, an SOI for me is that I weighed myself today, and I lost 4 lbs!!  YEA!!  Hoping that I can maybe lose 5 more lbs!!

    Hugs to all,

    Harley

Susan, hop on board.  If you fall off, you can always climb back on later.  Harley, obviously, you're already an honorary member.  It's always good to start from a position of success.

Boy, Elaine!   18 and 50!  both milestones!

Harley, glad no fires in your area.  Awful tho'.  Myrtle Beach is a nice place.  I feel bad for those folks.

    Traci,

I didn't until a few weeks ago.  My surgery is scheduled for May 12th.  This coming weekend is dh's bday, the youngest is doing a girl scout overnite at the zoo, the junior in hs is taking the SAT.  The following week i'm having my yearly done (yippee - NOT) and don't want to reschedule that.  So that leaves the week of the 12th.  Luckily I'm not having the painful gallbladder attacks, just majorly uncomfortable and nauseous (sp).  It should be an easy surgery but the gallbladder is enlarged and the stone is an inch around.  See ya soon.  It's late and work tomorrow.

    Gentle Hugs,

    Trish

Hi everyone.  It looks like not too much suckage going on today.  Happy dance and smilies for that.  THAT SUCKS for surgery coming up and excess weight and wild fires.   I am not bragging, but I have lost 15 pounds since I became a "regular" at the cancer center.  However, my Buddah Belly has not gone down any that I notice.

Congrats Bonnie on getting into those shorts.  You looked great with your new hair cut and YES, that yucca we had is something I am scratching off MY list of foods.  The dip set my mouth on fire and I think my eyes are still watering...!!!

This week is calm until Friday when I will be part of the Welcome Team for the Avon Walk.  It is an indoor job, out of the sun, heat and traffic.   I am torn between supporting companies that claim to provide funding and being there for other BC gals.   We will see how this one goes, as it is my first adventure in this kind of event.

    Hugs and Blessings,  Nancy

I think I am retaining fluid in my abdomen with my kidney stone, that's my story anyway.

How about this...I am feeling so sick and tired of being fat...yet I do nothing about it. I am eating as I type.

My pants feel as it my waistline is bleeding...lol. It's really sad because I want to lose about 20 pounds but I am not motivated AT ALL.. I have gained 10 pounds since getting married in October. I just wish my husband would stop all this cooking :(

Sometimes I feel like...why try... I am 54 years old

Morning ladies, hope today is a IOS free day.

Harley- so glad to hear you're ok. Hugs and prayers, quick and uneventful healing to all!

My good news:   Not only was dd 18 on Friday and dh 50 today, ds was 21 in March Laughing a yr of milestones, dd graduates this yr. Has been agonizing for last several months over where to go; she applied to 11 schools and was accepted to 9. She really thought she would not get into so many and that would help her decision. After pulling names from a hat, flipping coins, rock-paper-scissors, and anything else she could think of to help finally decided on Rutgers. Big sigh weight lifted from her shoulders. Only thing left is to write out the check....big sigh weight dropped on dh's shouldersSmile He is thrilled, as he is Rutgers College grad (although he was good and never pushed her in that direction). So we are about to be empty nesters...gotta say I am looking forward to the quiet.

Nancy and Barbe - Congratulations!!!  Can we call you two losers?  Wink Are you both working out more?  Or eating less?  Or both?  I think I have it backwards!!  Keep up the good work!

EWB - Big congratulations to you, too!  Empty nesters?  Good for you.  Some "me" time coming up.

Shorfi111  - Ah, yes, the bleeding waist line!  That is when I start shaking my leg like a dog to get my pants out of my bum, discreetly.  Drat.  It is so easy to put it on.  Cry

    Elaine,

My dh just turned 50 in February!  Hope you had a great time celebrating!!

    Kathi,

Well, I lost TOO MUCH weight when I was dx'd, because of all the stress and worry, and I really didn't feel like eating at all.  Now I am trying to get to my old, pre- breast cancer dx weight.  I don't know if it will be possible.

Yes, it is sad about those fires.  I heard that they were under control, but even this morning, the road was closed due to dense smoke.

    Hugs to all,

    Harley

I'm like shorfi111, I want to lose weight, but my motivation is in the crapper.  I gained 10 lbs since my dx, and I was trying to lose weight then.  I should lose 40 lbs, but I'd be happy if I could lose 20.  That said, my mind also justifies my gluttony by saying...."you've just been through hell, you deserve a piece of candy."  My dh is gearing up for lap-band surgery, so I'm clearing out the junk food.  Hopefully, with no junk in the house, there'll be no temptation.

You guys are cracking me up! Shorfi and Jane...I totally get it. I've often said, I wish exercise was as addicting as cigarettes! If only...

    Hey, ladies!

Oh, navy, wouldn't it be awesome if exercise were as addicting as ciggies???   It is for some, but you have to get to a certain level of endorphin production before that happens and by the tme you get there, you've turned into one of those obnoxious fitness freaks that make all their friends feel totally inadequate and can only talk about their fabulous health and don't eat anything fun anymore.   So, the heck with that.  But if it were like ciggies.  Man, I'd be fit as a goddess.......sigh.  How come when I quit smoking, I didn't replace my ciggie addiction with an addiction to aerobic exerice or something??  How come, huh??  No, I have to be addicted to chocolate cheesecake...

Guess I'll have to try Susan's suggestion and staple my lips together.

Hugs and a big HOLY SUCKOLA to all who need it.
