My home sweet home in the woods which I am far from being ready to part with, but with all the trees and work they make.....we are going to have to make adjustments one of these days.  Maybe a leaf collector system that really works.   Not evident in this picture but our land has a fairly good slope in a couple of places.....so going up and down with the leaf blowers gets to you.

Jackie:  Your home is beautiful...what a peaceful setting!  I will try and post some of mine when we get to NC...that will be a learning curve for me.

Back from my app't with MO.  I was excited to find that he wanted to check my Vitamin D levels.  It's important that bc survivors have good high levels of Vitamin D...over 70 if possible.  He is the first conventional doctor who ever suggested doing the test.  Mine was originally done by my BHRT doc and that's when I found my levels were very low (27) and shortly after that the bc dx.  My last mammo was clear, so that is good news too.  Once I get my eye injection, I'm good to go.

Off now to get our passports renewed.  Mine was expired anyway, but when I went to get it, it was nowhere to be found:(  Now I have to report it stolen and start over...bummer.  The last time I saw it was when we got off our cruise in Miami.  It could be anywhere.  My BF usually keeps them, but of course, since it's MIA he knows nothing!

Got my eye injection today...the news was good...more improvement in my vision.  I could read several more lines on the chart without difficulty, and the fluid is down.  The shot, however, was a little more scary than usual in that it completely blocked my vision in my left eye until he took some of the medicine out.  I didn't like that and got an idea of what it would be like to be completely blind in that eye.  Anyway, it's done and I got a referral for a retina specialist in NC that I can see while I'm up there.

The remainder of today will be spent packing up and getting the car packed for the trip, a job that my BF hates, but won't let me help with because he is a pilot and he always does the car packing.  I learned a long time ago to stay out of his way on this!

I spoke to DD today and her dental pain is a little better...she was put on antibiotics (a strong one) and again I don't understand why she wasn't put on this from the start.  I don't like this dentist she is going to, but she refuses to see mine for a second opinion, so my hands are tied.  I thought of not leaving tomorrow, but she insists that I do, and my DGD will take care of driving her to the dentist if need be.  So, I'm going to let go of my concerns and hope for the best.

I found this a little while ago......and it is SO FULL of meaning:

    Date: TODAY
    From: THE BOSS
    Subject: YOURSELF
    Reference: LIFE

I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help.

If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic; Don't despair. There are people in
this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; Think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness,
ignorance, smallness or insecurities; Remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them.

Should you decide to send this to a friend; Thank you, you may have touched their life in ways you will never know!

Kaara, glad your Daughter is better.... Yes, that Dentist is a Dink!  Glad she is taking an anti-biotic.... Any kind of infection is not to be fooled around with.

I had the WORST news last night...I'll try & keep this short!  My MasterCard was charged for over $1500!!!  And I didn't do it!  Also on Memorial Day, a charge to "Spirit Air"  for over $450.00!!  MasterCard called last night... A Fraud team is investigating!  Card was cancelled!  I called the Credit Union today, and she tells me this "fraud" has been in the News!

Someone can walk by you, with a "card reader" and take the numbers right off your debit or credit cards even though in your purse, or wallet!   That's what happened to me.

I'll get another debit card, but won't carry, unless I know I will use it that day.  I also bought an aluminum wallet, and that should help!  They do this at the gas-pumps, and the ATM machines!

I'm just surprised and glad they caught it the same day!  But man, last night I was just shaking. I had to cancel my auto-bill pay on the Internet with several companies!  So it's back to paper-billing.   I don't care, either!

And don't accidentally drop your card while shopping!  People pick it up, and charge LOTS of items within minutes....and we know they don't ask for ID's when we use it ourselves.

Jackie and I were just talking about credit and debit cards, then someone stole my numbers while it was in my purse.

Okay.... gotta go get busy....Hope you all are alright....

So sorry to hear that Chevy..that is just the worst!  I will not have an ATM card for that very reason..I just go in the bank and cash a check when I need money which is not often.  BOA always tries to tell me I need one "for security reasons"  WTH..no thanks!  What an aggravation when you have to cancel and start everything over.  My friend had her purse stolen and it is still being worked out with the stolen identity.

Chevy, we had to have our Capital One Visa cancelled a year or so ago when a couple of charges were made in Italy.  Capital One stays right on top of these situations and called us as soon as the charges came through.  So there was really no problem, just a short period when we waited for the new card in the mail.  We always have two credit cards just in case this happens.

Jackie, your home looks so peaceful and inviting.  But you've mentioned before that you and your dh have a large yard to maintain, as we do, too.  Our house now sits on two acres.  Originally we had six acres but we sold 4 of them.

Yesterday we arrived in Gulf Shores, AL, and are staying in the state campground, which is very nice with full hookups, even internet.  Today we bicycled and then went out for lunch at an excellent restaurant in nearby Orange Beach.

It is much too hot here.  We brought our golf clubs but we'll probably bicycle again tomorrow on a very nice bike path that we can access from the campground.  It's also a short bike ride to the ocean.  We rode there today and walked a little on the beach but the tide was in and there was no packed sand to walk on.  So we cut the walk short and got our exercise with more bicycling.  I love to walk but dh loves to bicycle so we do some of both.

Fri. we'll be going home.  This trip is a "shakedown" trip to make sure everything was working with the 5th wheel.  We'll be heading north for the summer around the 3rd week of June.  That's not so far off.

Hope you're all having cooler weather.

Carole!  Yes, one of the charges was made in Florida on Memorial Day!  Evidently someone "steals" the number & emails it to their friends, FAST!!!   Yes, a new card will be coming soon, she said.  Just be careful when you carry it!  You can get a "sleeve" or something, like I bought the aluminum wallet... to keep a "reader" from stealing the information.

    Glad you are keeping busy!

Jackie....I've always loved what your house looks like!  Like it is in the Forest!  It must be really quiet!  I like what you posted about "Life!"  It's all so true!  Okay, so I'll quit whining about my debit card, and the plumbing....  Wink  xoxoxoxo

Went to the surgeon today. The seroma had filled up again. Third time since surgery. He drained it and wrapped me in ace bandages for compression. Hopefully that will help and I won't keep having this problem. Not much else could be done. He said that since I had radiation the breast would heal poorly and does not want to to do anything to revise the large pocket that keeps filling with fluid. Taking the aromasin at a different time and hoping that helps with joint pain.

I'm so bummed for you Jeannette..........it is peculiar that we just spoke about "money" cards and then you have that happen.  Also knowing......all the people I know ( including all you women ) are so 'cautious' with finances and so careful to "keep track" and then have to go through all those dreaded steps, aggravation, and worry.

I hate to admit......but nothing will ever be fool-proof.  There is always a thief who will be industrious enough ( if only they channelled that into a REAL job ) to work on a way to part you and your money by whatever sophisticated means it may take.  I'm sure they are 'proud' of their ability to outfox and outsmart us....but no one wins all the time and neither do they.

Dreamers....glad to hear you have some answers and I do hope the third time really will be the charm and that you won't fill up again.  Also, I sure hope that you can find some relief from your meds.  If you can't make it work, hopefully there is another you might try.  How long do you need the compression???

Carole......yes, our yard is two acres worth as well.  Then on either side is a large ravine.  We have neighbors, but in summer you can't see too much of them or their houses.  It is quiet and peaceful.  Yesterday morning, right before I went to work I looked out and there were five young deer eating in the yard not far from my car.  The very young bucks.....three of them, still had fur on the small sets of antlers that were emerging.  What graceful, gorgeous animals.......and truly one of the things that I most adore about living out here.

Home a little late again...........so I'll see you all in the morning....hi to pj.  Good to see you here.

    Hugs, Jackie

Dreamers....at least you found out....  Have you had mammograms yet since your surgery?  I don't think you have.... For some reason, the more I had, the more the seroma went down.   I mean I can see it on the mammograms, but I can't feel it, and it isn't sore, meaning it probably doesn't have any fluid in it.

Did you have the MammoSite device?  I was just told that a seroma either forms in the "pocket" they took the tumor out from, or from the device itself.  I had the radiation from the device, and haven't had any trouble....  Don't know if the lengthy other type of radiation will make you "heal poorly" like your Doc. says....

If it keeps up, ask one of your other Docs on your team, like your Oncologist, or your Radiologist.  Sometimes I don't believe the stuff I hear from different Docs.

I have always worn tighter snap in front sports bras... The wrapping should help also.  I always worn one in bed even, like for the first year.

Okay gals.... make a fun day......

Got down to 49 degrees last night.....brrr.  Will get up to 70 today.  We are it seems still in feast or famine mode.  Guess I won't complain.......we have outside work this week-end...so it will be so much more tolerable with the cooler temps.  We are going to re-design chance our dog pen outside.  We made it far too large and it is causing difficulties in several areas...................and will be nice to re-start lawn again.

Hoping everyone is doing well and feeling as good as possible...........meaning lots of inner peace.

    I'll be checking in later.

We're in NC now..arrived last evening to rain and cooler weather...yea!!  I was up and out by 7:00 AM this morning diligently working in the yard...pulling weeds and trimming overgrown bushes!  It was about 50 degrees and should get up in the 70's today, so it sounds like we're on a par with your weather Jackie.

There was a broken window on the upper sunporch...second time this has happened and can't quite figure out why.  It didn't freeze here this year so it couldn't have been the cold.  Maybe a bird flew into it.  Don't think it was attempted robbery because one would have had to scale the post leading to the deck (no stairs) and what would be the point since there are areas to enter on the lower level.  A mystery!  Nothing got harmed on the porch, so that was a good thing.

Jackie...love the words about inner peace...somehow I really have that when we come to NC...don't know if it's the mountains that make you feel closer to God, or just the quiet and beauty of nature, but my mind settles right down and I feel so happy and glad to be alive.

OK..now I'm going to tackle the unpacking..not as much fun as the yard!

Today was another day of gathering yucca stalks.  We went to Sierra Blanca which is about a 100 miles from here.  The picking was great, we got some good ones and alot more for the picking.

I guess our DD and GD are going to leave on June 11 and head for Fort Pierce, FL to visit her sister who lives there.  I think they will stay about a month.  I always hate it when the kids are on the road.  It will be good for all of us to have some time away from each other.  She will stop in College Station, TX and spend a couple of days with her brother and family and then also stop in Milton, FL and see her 2nd cousin, who she is close to.  He is our GD's God Father.  They have not seen each other since I think 2001.  Should be a fun visit.

Off to the broom shop tomorrow to help out, whole family will be working.  We have to leave Sunday to be in Odessa, TX for Dr's apts on Monday.  We will stay at the Hope House, when we stay there on a Sunday we are the only people in an 8 bedroom house.

    Y'all have a good night

We had a 50% chance of rain yesterday evening but not a drop.

Monmarch:  I'm with you on the rain.  Looks like another drought summer. Parts of Houston got good showers yesterday, but i only got 79 drops.

    Kaara:  Loved the update.

Dreamers & Chevy:  Is this something they can see on an ultrasound?  I'm at 8 months and still wearing a Danskin sports bra to bed & around the house.  Much more comfortable.  Tried a real bra yesterday but was hurting after 3 hours.

Went to see the ...Exotic Marigold Hotel.. yesterday.  Maggie Smith was amazing & Judi Dench is always good.  Lots of great one liners for folks our age.

Kaara, 50 degrees warming up to 70 sounds ideal to me.  I love cool weather.  My favorite outfit is jeans and a tee shirt.

DH and I are going to the movies this afternoon with another couple to see Marigold Hotel.  With that cast, the movie has to be good.  Afterwards we'll eat dinner out somewhere.  Haven't discussed the restaurant.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

carole:  Absolutely...it's what I'm wearing right now..jeans and a t shirt..the official uniform of NC!  The weather is even cooler today with a little wind and the sun is shining brightly..not a cloud in the sky.  Another nice day to work in the yard...I've almost finished with the cleanup and will then begin looking for some flowers and herbs to plant.  I have a tree off the side deck from my kitchen and I'm thinking of turning the area under it into a little herb garden.  I planted some sage and tarragon in the ground last year, and it survived the winter...amazing.  I'm still learning about planting.

I LOVE growing herbs here in Denver!  The Italian Parsley comes up every year, also Sage, and another low-growing herb I planted, that I lost the marker to!  Wink And the Mint is a pain in the butt!  I also plant Rosemary, and Sweet Basil every year....

I'm just trying to clean up a lot of over-grown areas, and pull grass & vines that have come up in between my little miniature roses.

It's just so relaxing to fool around in my gardens.... yes, a lot of work, but things look so nice when they are cleaned up, and blooming!

Lacee is hiding behind our recliner....It's thundering, and trying to rain!  MAN I just hope it DOES!!!!  It's been so DRY here!

I keep watching my bank account.... my debit-card....  And they, (the crooks) didn't get away with charging my account!  They tried 3 times.... one for over $1500, and another for $457.00...and one for one dollar!  Thanks to MasterCard, they called me when it looked suspicious!  I wonder if once "they" are caught, they are prosecuted for fraud?   I also didn't know it was so prevalent!  Guess you can walk by someone, or they walk by you, like the video shows, and their "reader" that they can buy for about $100 steals your debit/credit numbers, AND the expiration date!  Then with their lap-top, it shows, and they can email it to ANYone.... One of the charges was in Florida.... within minutes of getting the numbers.....  So at least I don't have to worry about that, anymore.

Minus!  I would think it would show up on an ultra-sound, but I just know it shows up on a mammogram!  It looks like a big hollow balloon....Mine was about as big as an egg, but I can't feel where it "was" anymore.  The "pocket" must have flattened out.  I think we are lucky it wasn't a "hematoma!"

Mommarch! How are the brooms coming? What a great business to be in! It sounds like a hobby to me, but I know it is a lot more work than that! You guys have to be talented to be able to figure that all out.... and make a business out of it!

Glad you're "home" Kaara! I would love if we had Northern California weather here in Denver.... I also would rather be "cool" than hot!

Hi Jackie....hope you find a minute to pamper yourself.....Wink

Thank you for your response. One day at a time. I just finished rads...dealing with skin issues now so no time for emotional issues. However,my radiologist would like me to see

A shrink to may be get a handle on this. I'm not good in group situations so maybe a one on one might be the way to go.

Scottiee!  Glad you are with us..... don't worry!  Every day is a brand-new day for you.  Do you have any close friends around you?  I had one, who had gone through about the same thing I did.... Actually 2...they helped me a lot.  Came through everything just fine.  I didn't want to talk to "family" too much....  And no, group situations seem a little impersonal....

It's easier to know someone else that has gone through this....like us!  And we're always here.  Your Oncologist or radiologist will tell you more about creams....etc.   Just don't worry, and don't be afraid.... there are LOTS of gals that have seen it all!

Oh my.....I'm here.  I found out late yesterday afternoon that I needed to work ( early shift 6 a.m. ) this morning and I gotta say......I'm no longer well suited to early morning work.  I wake up when I shouldn't.....because I'm afraid I won't wake up 'on time'  and since I don't get my "normal" morning routine.....I'm sorta out of sorts from the get-go.  I do ok.....but you know walk around with that "did I forget to put on my undies fog" and it is hard to make it go away.

Left work at noon ( regular time ) and got some lunch out and then came home and took a nap......and I don't nap.  I'm feeling ok now..........but I still feel like I missed the whole day.  I think I just need my routine in the morning which includes a certain amt. of computer time....with a cup of coffee or two......and then I'm good to go.

Scottie....Chevy is right.  Every day we get to start over with another day given to us to use.  We just do the best we can.......sometimes up and sometimes down, but persistence is probably the key.  If you keep trying to make it work......at some point it will.

I don't work too well with groups either.  I'm somewhat of a loner and so I find one on one is better for me.  I also have a little shyness so have to connect with people before I can get very revealing about anything.  We are always right inside your computer though when you need to talk to someone.........and even if you just want to come for a little visit and just chat about your day......that's ok.

I'll be back in the morning with my coffee......see ya'all then.

    Hugs, Jackie
