Quick hi from work...Carol, your doctor list reminds me of what I need to do.
Mommarch, sorry to hear about little Rosie.  I hope your little one is OK.

Jackie, love the quote about the ocean...so true...If only we could keep that inner peace on the outside as well.  And yes, landscaping is something we have neglected so long and now we are paying back...and we are feeling it ('cause we're older).

Wishing everyone a nice day.  Is it true that cold weather is moving through the mid west again??  It's been gray today...

Saying a prayer for little Rosie.  I hope she gets through this.  We have little dogs and seems they don't tangle with the raccoons around here.......but then the landscape is a little different here and the 'coons' tend to stay hidden the the daylight hours.  I sure hope she does just fine.

Hi to everyone else.  It's been so pretty today and warm -- like t-shirt warm.  The kind of weather I deary love.  Just gave the fella's that live here a bit of a chore.  I need some weed removal where I feed some of the feral cats.  I hope they go out and get it done.  .

    See you all later.

    Peace and love,

    Jackie

Carole, I think it will be awhile before I'd consider myself a "cancer pro" but I've already have shared my experiences thus far w/ some newbies on different threads.

Camille, Ouch! a needle right htru your nipple!  But I love your story; telling your Dr you had better foreplay!  I can only imagine the look on his face.

Bonnets, I'm w/ you; I'm tired of cooking too but for different reasons.  There's not much I can eat cause of all my gastro conditions.  I can't have sugar either so I use Equal.  I like it better than Splenda.

Joan, Good to know that I'm not a total basket case about rads!  All those appts does seem a bit overwhelming.  I had my follow up appt today w/ my Surgeon.  She said I'm healing nicely & I will be out of work for the rest of the school year.  Now I have to hear from the cancer center about starting rads.  I have a CT scan appt & a M.O. appt next week.  I guess I'd better get a separate calendar to keep track of all these appts!!!  It's enough to make your head spin!!!  What are A.I. drugs?

Hope everyone has a peaceful evening,

    Linda

Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt,
choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences
and that which you have empirically learned through the years.  It means
to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience.  There is a
balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart.
When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favored.

Thinking about each and everyone of you this morning.  It is going to be a most gorgeous day here and up into the 80's.  Of course, that will bring rain, but it is for sure now that our temps for the most part will stay up higher.  Spring green is everywhere and the grass needs mowing.  Dh has been overhauling the garden tractor and soon, soon, we should be ready to really make progress.

I'm in need of some serious weed pulling already in my side hosta garden area.  It is a rock garden as well but through the years those pesky weeds can find a way to even grow there.

Hope you are all going to have a wonderful day.

    Peace and love,

    Jackie

80 degrees!  Jackie, it's hard to believe the temp. is that warm in IL.  Hope you can enjoy warm without muggy.

I'm back from exercise class at the YMCA.  DH cooked breakfast and I splurged and had a piece of bacon and TWO eggs instead of one.  I'll call it brunch!  Sure tasted good.

I got all my apptments made and, to my surprise, my PC dr. had an opening at 3:30 this afternoon.  She's never on time so I'll be lucky to be out of there by 5pm.  It's just a well patient visit that will allow me to keep getting my prescriptions.  Plus she'll order blood work to check cholesterol, sugar, thyroid, etc.  I always like to have that done.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Carole BTW just cuz I'm up early doesn't mean I accomplish anything meaningful hahaha

Mommarch how is u'r furbaby today--I feel so bad for u---u said tere is a creek there? Any geese around? IDK but poor baby--

    Hi all,

Jackie, please assure me that the warm temps will make it to the East...

Linda, how are you feeling post surgery?  When does your school year end?  Are you a K-12 teacher?  I went back to work after 6 days but I have the type of job that I can relax or sit down or rest during the day.  The A.I. drugs are Aromatase Inhibitors which are effective in reducing reoccurrence if your BC is estrogen positive.  (Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin)  Younger women take Tamoxifen which handles the estrogen in a different way.  It is often started after rads.
    (yawn) good night

    Good morning all---

Carole it's 80 degrees here no rain YET--it's Jackie's wish that's coming tru, not mine. I like mid 70's but we always seem to go from snow to 80's in no time and we still don't have leaves yet here.

Linda check in and tell us how u'r feeling today.

Oh I have to take a shower today and find something cool to wear--here we go. Believe it or not that's a big job for me LOL

    OK see u later

    Hi Ladies,

sitting on the back porch, sunny and 70 today. Lazy day, shopped for GD Communion gift and groceries. About all today, Stress test tomorrow.DH surgeon/primary  appt on friday, Our life seems to revolve around Dr's appts doesn't it? Yawn

Asking prayers for my young neighbor who has been fighting an abusive ex for 5 years. Yesterday a questionable family court judge awarded the ex custody of their 6 year old daughter. She is a wonderful mother  and this judge says she has alienated the daughter so is an unfit mother. This is just NOT true!  She is devastated and needs prayer, thanks!

Bonnets I just read u'r post--I so so mad about that judge--WTH is he thinking --I realize they have to have proof of some kind but what the kid is afraid of her father cuz she probsbly saw, heard the abuse so the judge feels it's in the best interest of the child to be with an abusive husband. Something sounds fishy to me----I will send prayers her way. They had to have phsyciatric (sp) evaluations how could this happen? or isn't it a law there.? I'm sorry but abusive wives --that's so sad.

And yes our lives are all around Drs. these days. And then there are more Drs. to help with more stuff even from SE's--it's never ending source of Drs. and of course all Specialists. Bah

Arrived in Florida to what else....RAIN!  At least it's not cold...lol!  Going to try and get to DGGD's birthday party tonight but I don't see very well with my compromised vision in the rain at night.  It will be a challenge, but I hate to miss it.  I'll be here for 10 days to enjoy the kids, then back to Greenville for the summer.

    Hi All,

Rosie is all stapled up, we got to bring her home around 4:00 on Monday.  She is on

tramadol for pain and antibiotic, twice a day.  The vet said if she had any swelling on her neck to bring her in.  She had a place this morning, it looks like she has 2 chins.  Took her in and he said it was a gland that was fighting off the infection and was natural, keep giving the meds, but watch for something that would look like a cyst.  He said the by the way it took the huge chunk off the back of the neck and her back had like a cannine tooth cut, he thought it could be a large dog.  We have been having  problems with cyotes because of the drought.  Hubby has had to get his shot gun out

several times in the middle of the night lately and fire it, because they are out in back of the house.  They tree'd our cat, a few weeks ago.  I opened the back door one evening when it was just getting dark and there was one standing by the back porch. I said Git and he went, certinly scary.

We have to go to Odessa tomorrow for hubby follow up on his shoulder surgery.  Will do a little shoping, it was 90 here today and our hi tomorrow is 45 with 50 mile winds.

Thanks for the prayers for Rosie.  Keep warm and safe.

But judgment may heal over time.  One of the blessings of growing older is the discovery that many of the things I once believed to be my shortcomings have turned out in the long run to be my strengths, and other things of which I was unduly proud have revealed themselves in the end to be among my shortcomings.  Things that I have hidden from others for years turn out to be the anchor and enrichment of my middle age.  What a blessing it is to outlive your self-judgments and harvest your failures. Oh my, where to begin.  First as to the neighbor with abusive husband....probably is the goofy judge.  I think sometimes that it happens that way.  I know it is a job I would hate.....I have never felt too competent about standing over others in judgement.  I have enough trouble keeping care of myself.  I do think though you can look at things and make a decision based on some of the prejudices you have and may not even know you have them.  I'll be saying prayers.

mommarch....so glad that little Rosie seems to be holding her own.  Golly, I guess you will nearly have to follow little Rosie around now.  The animals in the wild sound like they are becoming pretty cheeky.  I can see why they would have no trouble picking on Rosie.  The fact that they come around so close to your house -- does that mean there is not much 'food' for them or do you think they have been closer all along maybe and have just become a little braver.

    It is scary.

Sitting here waiting for the rain we know will come.  Our temps are holding up right now and that is certainly good.  Still it is a question of when not if....so just hoping.

Hope you all have a really good day.

    Peace and love,

    Jackie

Hi Joan, My surgeon said I'm healing nicely & next week I have appts for CT scan , an MO & again w/ the RO.  Then simulation & tattoos.  I worked in Food Service for many years in one school district & now work for another district as a Student Aide.  My surgeon wrote me out of work for the rest of this school year.  My older son, who lives in Ronkonkoma, is a NYS certified teacher.

Camille, I'm doing alright I guess; I thought that getting radiation was going to be the EASY part but little did I know I have to have CT scans, & more Dr appts w/ the MO & RO & then a treatment planning session!  It does seem like our lives revolve around the Drs. I agree; this sucks; BAH!

Bonnets, hope things work out for your neighbor.  Abuse is always sad for the one on the receiving end but the kids suffer from it too.

Hope everyone is doing well & is having a stress free day!

Passed my stress with flying colors. Don't think I have any more dr. appts til June, then  Primary/mo, surgeon, RO. DH turn tomorrow!

Linda, made many trecks to Rochester when my daughter was at RIT/NTID. You do have some good hospitals up there.

    Have a goood night.

I've never been much on the Pink Ribbon, til they spend more money that they, raise on prevention and CURE. Awareness is great, but we need a CURE. Also agree the stats are squed, based on 5 year survival. With early detection there is an appearance of better survival. People like my daughter who fought for 6 years are not included. Spoke to Musa Mayer many years ago and she agreed there is APPARENT better survival! A lot to think about here, good piece.

Time is not measured by the years that you live But by the deeds you do and the joy that you give-- And each day as it comes brings a chance to each one To love to the fullest, leaving nothing undone That would brighten the life or lighten the load Of some weary traveler lost on Life's Road-- So what does it matter how long we may live If as long as we live we unselfishly give.

    Hi Ladies,

My mom met with the radiologist today. Her arm range of motion won't be a problem.  Based on the tumor size, 2.7 cm, he says we should have the onco test done (by MO) to see how beneficial chemo might be...if mom's drs. and us agree it is something we want to pursue.  Of course, that would have to be before radiation.  The onco test takes 2 weeks and I don't think it can get started til we see the MO in a week.  Wish I had realized to make that appt. sooner.   I really don't remember the surgeon telling me to get that appt set- just radiation.  So, we are back to waiting at least 3 weeks before moving forward.

I second (or third) the comments about all these drs. appts.  2 this week, 3 next week in addition to 3 sessions each of physical, occupational and speech therapy.  The dr. asked mom what she did at home (I think he wanted to know how much she got around).  I said, "We spend the days with therapy and doctors!"  In one respect, it is good stimulation for her.  Watching TV all day, just leads to tight muscles and lots of naps!

We have gotten in about 15 hrs. of couch shopping, too- but no couch yet!  The mattress is coming Tuesday- counting the days!

Just skimming through all I've missed...
Bonnets, I have heard of this type of decision before.  Heartless...did you say how old the DD is?
I have a very close friend who has been through divorce and alienation with her new husband with crazy ex.  My friend is sooooo good at going to court...she records every conversation, she saves every email, keep perfect records...could it be that your neighbor did not have the evidence prepared to convince the judge that the ex was aggravating the situation?  OH it makes me so angry..

Linda, why the CT scan?  I assume it's not the rads-planning [when they do use a machine to locate things.]
So, welcome to the world of endless medical appointments....when rads are done, you will probably see a doc every 3-4 months after the initial follow ups.  I heard Rochester had snow...

Hey, you know it's spring when it's Kentucky Derby time...get your fancy hats ready...

The place to take the test of a man is not the forum or field, not the marketplace
or the amen corner, but at his own fireside.  There he lays aside his mask
and you may judge whether he is imp or angel, king or cur, hero or humbug.
I care not what the world says of him, whether it crown him with bays
    or pelt him with eggs; I care never a copper what his reputation or religion may be;
if his babes dread his homecoming and his better half has to swallow her heart
every time she asks him for a five dollar bill, he's a fraud of the first water,
even though he prays night and morn until he is black in the face,
and howls hallelujah until he shakes the eternal hills.  But if his children rush
to the front gate meet him, and love's own sunshine illumines the face
of his wife when she hears his footsteps, you may take it for granted
that he is true gold, for his home's a heaven and the humbug
never got that close to the great white throne of God.
