Kitty dog keeping my fingers crossed and sending prayers for B9 results!

Glad to see that everyone else is having a great end to November.

I saw my plastic surgeon yesterday and we set the date for my recon surgery/breast reduction and lift to my good breast so it will match the radiated one that is now much smaller.  It is set for Dec. 20th at 7:00a.m.  I have to be at the hosp at 5 a.m. that day and go on Dec. 16th for my markings.  I am looking forward to getting this done because it will represent closure on some level for me.  It will be a a happy ending to a horrible year.

And Renee, that goes for you, too.  December is going to be officially know as the month of beauty for our gang.  Bring it on!

Thanks Mary for your kind words!!

    Alicia hope all is well and you are at home resting with pain killers.  One of my friends had her exchange surgery a few months ago and ice and the pain pill were her best friend for about a week.  :)  {{{{Hugs}}}}

Pam I hope you are doing well.  Being a nurse I understand all you are going through.  It's a tough time.

Love and hugs to everyone w a  i  t  i  n  g  for test results. It is torture! And then there is that long moment before the words are spoken.... seems like in a suspense filled movie. I have to close my eyes as cannot bear the look on the face of the person who knows right before they tell me. Silly, huh? I SO prefer to get news over the phone. Don't know why some docs demand you come and share the moment :(  Do they think we are going to jump off the roof or something? Do they think they are going to be able to say something in person to make it better than whatever they could say over a phone?

BTW, does anyone have a doctor who charges for time talking to you on the phone? Just wondering.

It has turned cold in Florida so must be cold everywhere else! I am wearing the first long pants of the season :) At least it will be sunny today so not too gloomy. And there is no snow to shovel :)

Thanks for thinking of me, Renee. I am doing much better. I stopped Arimidex, stayed off of it for a month, then went on Tamoxifen. I would say 50% of my physical complaints have been resolved. I am steadier, more stable, have normal energy and enthusiasm for activities. I had been so tense that it was hard for me to drive more than 10-15 miles ... really weird. And that has improved a lot. It was even hard for me to type as my left hand was so stiff and fingers would not move around the keyboard but I am back to almost normal. The neurologist has me on a new drug but I don't know if it is as big a help as stopping Arimidex was? Actually, things got really bad for me when I switched from Arimidex to the generic product in June... a really rapid decline in QOL.It took about four months for me to feel like I was falling apart!  I guess it could be coincidental???  Anyway, I am feeling much better, anecdotal evidence or not. :)

Special hugs to Pauldingmom and to Jen. ((()))

Hugs to you Alicia! Glad to hear your surgery went well!

I went to see my Onc this morning, all clear for now. I have to go for my next diagnotstic mammo next month, and I go back to see my Onc in March. It sure hurt when he did the exam! Anyone else still having pain at your sight? He seemed surprised that it still hurts when he manipulates it.

Hugs right back to you Joni!!  And Hugs to everyone else!! We all need hugs to get thru this CRAP!!! Love you ladies!

    (((((HUGS ALICIA)))))

After having a few crying spells, I called my oncologist yesterday. I told the receptionist I saw the hot spot and wanted to know if they had my results yet.  Well I didn't get a call back at all. I cried most of the night and most of the morning.  My DH finally called to see if they had gotten my message and the reply he got oh yes Abby.  So he told her if they don't or want share the results until tomorrow they were going to have to put me on something to calm me down till tomorrow.  Well  they called back telling me they would call in some xanax...to my reply I already take xanax. So I got a second call back to be told my scans show nothing knew.  I guess sometimes it pays to have these new found emotions thanks to my hysterectomy.  I fell like a big baby but lesson learned.  Never have test done the same week you were DX especially when you are already stressed out to the max thanks to other things going wrong in your household.  I will apologise to them for having such an anxiety attack over my scans.

Thanks all.  You are the best support team.

No need to apologize in my book.  The length of time the offices take to get back to us on things is inhumane!

Alicia, glad you are home and all is looking good.  Get some rest and before you know  it you will be that new woman.

Pam, glad to hear that you are doing better since the switch of meds.  The generic form of Armidex, has not seemed to bother me.  I guess I am lucky in so many ways.  It is just hard to find those ways sometimes.

Big hugs to everyone, I think we can all use one.

Happy Friday hugs for everyone...WOHOO the weekend is here.  My daughter is in a play this weekends..they have four shows.  Can't wait for this drama stuff to be done and for me to get a break.

Michele - What is the play?  My youngest daughter is a drama queen - she loves acting, but I had to get her out of the extracurriculars because of the time and expense involved.  She's now in show choir at school and is having a ball.

Alicia, hope your recovery is going well.

I wanted to share a happy moment with everyone - this Wednesday, I finished with my bachelor's degree!!!  I decided not to participate in commencement - I was originally planning surgery this month.  But I'm still super-excited!  It feels great to have success somewhere in my life.  Next week of course, I'll be going through medical testing rather than school testing, but for today, I have my first day off in a long time.  No school, no teaching, no doctor's appointments.  I can sit and veg all day if I want!!!!  Looks like cleaning the house is in my future.

Big hugs to all my sisters - have a great day!

    Shelby... Congrats to you!!!!

Jen glad you are feeling better... :)  Enjoy the foobies!!

Pam glad the Tamox is working for you and you are having less pain off the Arimidex.  Seems like lately I want to eat house and home.  I really don't know what else could be doing it but the Tamox.  I hope you don't have that... it's took me about 8 months for it to kick in and start causing that. Hmmmm! gotta do something.

Hi all just checking in to see how you are all doing - I joined this group early in 2009, in January so it's been just under 2 years since my dx and in January I get to meet with a PS to discuss reconstruction.  My surgeon didn't want me to do anything about recon until I was 2 years post surgery - I had a left mx.  So if any of you have any advice on what I should ask the PS please let me know - I still don't know if I will have recon although I must say I do dislike the daily reminder of BC that I get every time I see my foob so any comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks

OK I feel a bit slow here...I just managed to find the 2009 thread, at the end of 2010! Well I am glad to finally find you all.

Very short version: DX in November 2009, lumpectomy December, staph infection in January/February that kept me in hospital & home care for 6 weeks. March/April/May = chemo, July/August = rads, last month another infection and last week a biopsy which scared the cr*p out of me but came back negative (whew!).

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello, I'm finding this "just after treatment" part to be hardest emotionally and am looking forward to your posts.

    one-L Member Posts: 653

teemee, welcome.  There are adjustments after treatment and all of a sudden you don't have to go to so many appointments.  It  is sort of a letdown.  I am don't have to see  any doctors until the end of March, but I do have to go for may mammo and then my bone scan, but not Docs.  It is a good feeling.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I had my grandson and he really kept me busy.  Never a spare  moment with him in the house.  My DH had surgery on both of his feet this last week and he needs some waiting on also.  He is doing really well and is getting around.  He just doesn't need to overdo.

Of  course, I had a business trip planned before his surgery and I told him not to plan it before I leave, but he did.  So tomorrow I am leaving for Richland, WA and will be gone for 4 days.  I have cooked, cleaned and tried to make sure he wouldn't need anything while I am gone.  My cousin will check on him daily, so maybe it won't be too bad.

Shelby, woohoo for  you.  Hope the tests come out good next week and you can get on with your life.

    Congratulations, Shelby! Way to go.

    Alicia, glad you're doing better.

Ainm, its nice to see your post.  Since I didn't do reconstruction, I have no advice for your doctor visit, but lots of good wishes.  Please keep us posted on your decisions.

Teemee, nice to know you.  Please hang around and recover with us.  Stay nearby, OK?

Juanelle, happy trails.  Hope your trip goes well and that DH recovers easily.

Did my 3-month check up yesterday.  I'm relieved to have a new plan for Tamoxifen.  I am allowed to stop taking it for a few days when my autoimmune symptoms flare up.  The goal is to get as much of the drug in me as possible.  I think I can live with this plan.  So, hooray!  It would have been hard to hear that I had to keep going like I was, and it would have been heard to hear that I could not take Tamoxifen any more.  This is a big relief.

And Renee, I've been eating like crazy.  When I stopped Tamoxifen for four days, the appetite was not so big.  Soooo - it could be the culprit.  Ho, ho, ho!

Oh - celebrated with joy my 48th on Sunday.  I hereby declare that ALL birthdays are good from here on out. Life is good - especially with you neat ladies along for the ride.  Love to you all.

    XO, Mary

Happy belated bday Mary, and I'm glad you have a plan for the Tamox.

How was the business trip, Juannelle?  And how's the hubby doing?

How was your daughter's play last weekend, Michele?

I hope everyone is having a great day.  I'm sitting on pins and needles right now, waiting for the results from the testing I had earlier this week.  I called the doc's office today to see if the results were available, but of course no nurse was available to look (talked to receptionist).  She took a message and said someone will call me back with results later.  Ugh, I try to tell myself that if there was something really bad they would call me, and not to borrow trouble.  This stress is really getting to me!

    Love and hugs,

    Shelby
