Ruth...beautiful! I know that spot! Love ND sunrises and sunsets. They are especially beautiful in the starkness of winter.

Lilac...Happy 20th Anniversary! Enjoy that trip!

Meow...wonderful job on weight loss and your exercise!

I agree Peregrinelady, both my husband and I have been fortunate to have healthy and active parents. All 4 are in their 70s. My mom was a huge support for me this past year. I frequently remind myself how blessed we are. My best friends husband has been having some health concerns recently. Has recently had some confusion at times. He is in his 50s and his own father had dementia. She is so worried right now.

Great job to all on the workouts and exercise!

Yesterday was a rest day but did 45 min of yoga. Also went to my first acupuncture appt. Going to try a few appointments. These hot flashes at night are really interrupting my sleep. I have 4 miles on schedule for today which I will do after work this evening.

Runner, tell your friend to get her DH in for an evaluation, there is medication that can help slow things down if turns out to be Alzheimers/dementia.

I missed my classes AND I gained 5 pounds while on vacation; so went to Zumba & Bone Builders this morning, and back to Pound tonight.

Hi falconer, I was only on liquid Tamoxifen because I could not tolerate the pill due to difficulty breathing. (Incidentally, I had to bring it up with my onc after reading about it here.) At the time I was premenopausal and was trying to avoid an oopherectomy and did not want reconstruction. Then after reading about DIEP flap surgery here, I decided to try it. The breast surgeon recommended getting an oopherectomy at the same time, so I did. I wanted to continue with Tamoxifen for a few years then follow with the AI, but I had a blood clot after my revision surgery, so had to stop after about a year. I am now on Arimidex. To answer your question, (finally!)I don’t think the liquid has fillers and I tolerated it quite well. It is quite expensive, although I only paid the $100.00 copay once.

Runnermum, sorry to hear about your friend’s husband. My mother-in-law had Alzheimer’s and I watch my husband for signs when in reality, I am more forgetful with menopause and meds. Ruth is right, a check-up is a must. I keep hoping they will find ways to prevent or at least delay the onset of the disease.

Ruth, sounds like you had a tasty time in Arizona and as active as you are, those 5 lbs will be gone in no time.

Long pose Yin on Monday evening and a piyo class yesterday...feeling pretty good until I got the results of my bone density scan. I hit the two year anniversary of Arimidex and in those two years I have sufferred a loss of 17% density in my R femur...I know it aches all the time, but WOW. Now osteopenia, what are folks doing to combat bone loss beyond exercise? I am "only" 56, can't lose 17% every two years going forward...

Hello all, my name is Laurie and I am currently doing my chemo. I'm going to join you positive ladies in an effort to keep myself accountable to exercise during treatment. Ive always been an athelete but never loved exercise for exercise's sake. I started to put on quite a bit of weight in my 50's then I got a dog 2 years ago and since then have walked and lost about 20 lbs. It helped that I was on a leave from work and had tons of time.

Now I have 2 dogs, while I'm doing my treatment people have been helping me walk them but I try to get out at least on one of the walks. Usually for about 1 hour and I'm pretty pooped but on day 4 after chemo, couldn't even do that sooooo....on day 5 I tried yoga in the morning but it didn't really speak to me, I kept quitting in between poses... so... I put on a funky song and made myself dance beginning to end. Surprise, it energized me enough to plan a walk for later. For now, just doing what I can. Glad to be here.

love the tag line in this song, Don't believe me? just watch!

indahood, welcome! I'm counting on my dog too to keep me busy and active during treatment too.

If you like music & latin music moves you, you might enjoy Zumba! I go to Zumba classes a lot but also do some at home. I like Marlon's channel because he's fun.

Lilac, Here is to much happiness on your anniversary.

    So Much Happiness

    By Naomi Shihab Nye

    For Michael

It is difficult to know what to do with so much happiness.

With sadness there is something to rub against,

a wound to tend with lotion and cloth.

When the world falls in around you, you have pieces to pick up,

something to hold in your hands, like ticket stubs or change.

    But happiness floats.

It doesn't need you to hold it down.

    It doesn't need anything.

Happiness lands on the roof of the next house, singing,

and disappears when it wants to.

    You are happy either way.

Even the fact that you once lived in a peaceful tree house

and now live over a quarry of noise and dust

    cannot make you unhappy.

Everything has a life of its own,

it too could wake up filled with possibilities

of coffee cake and ripe peaches,

and love even the floor which needs to be swept,

the soiled linens and scratched records . . .

Since there is no place large enough

    to contain so much happiness,

you shrug, you raise your hands, and it flows out of you

into everything you touch. You are not responsible.

You take no credit, as the night sky takes no credit

for the moon, but continues to hold it, and share it,

and in that way, be known.

I keep forgetting to check what shows you've recommended before heading to the basement!

TrmTab, eat a serving of dried plums (ie prunes) a day, they actually build bones. And, are you taking calcium with vitamin D? If you aren't, start!

    Falconer, another BEAUTIFUL poem!

The Walking Women caught the Olympic spirit for our walking theme today. I went Zumba tonight & tried out a new Pilates class. I like pilates so will definitely go back.

Leaving too early in the morning to get a walk before work as its still dark. This semester, the schools I'm covering I'm leaving between 6:50 and 7:05. And I haven't been getting out at lunch. Fortunately, its still light when I get home so I can get a walk in and then DH and I walk after dinner. Struggling to keep my weight where I want it to be....once I get back to 15K+ day, it will all be good.

Weather in Denver goes from winter to not quite spring and back to winter. In the 60s tomorrow and snow on Saturday. We need the water, but I don't like driving in the snow.

Prunes??? Okay, will give it a try. I currently take 3000 D3, but only the calcium in my multivit 300 and diet. I have ordered and will have delivered tomorrow via amazon prime Nature's Bounty 1200 calcium + 1000 D3. My measurement is -1.3 so "just" into the penia range of -1.0 to -2.5, but two years ago I was solidly in the normal range.

Off to gentle power yoga at lunch...but first have to teach some classes. TT

Snowshoe walk on the lake with husband for almost an hour this morning, then indoor walking through a favorite nature photography center this afternoon. Exercise for the body and the soul.

Welcome indahood. Gorgeous photo tessu. I'll be honest I though Bruno Mars Superbowl halftime show was better than JTs, JTs sound team should all be fired it was like listening to a background track so I'm loving all the Bruno references, I think he is so talented. Beautiful poem Falconer.

Last night did Body Pump followed by Body Flow/Balance and then today I am in hungry mode - by 11am I had eaten my breakfast which I had brought to work, my Orange which was supposed to be my mid morning snack plus my lunchtime sandwich ughhhhh.

Love the pic, tessu! It looks so flat... so much more fun for snowshoeing. I am constantly having to adjust my heel position in our terrain, which can be difficult in the deep snow.

Speaking of adjustments, I brought my mountain bike to be serviced to get ready for the spring season. Also having an automatic seat height adjuster installed. Easier to have it for the descents.

Great dance vids. LB, I will have to do that bed workout. Beautiful poem, Falconer. TT, resistance training can help prevent bone loss in addition to all the things you are already doing.

    Beautiful picture, Tessu!

I wasn't overly thrilled with the half-time show either. BUT I know one of the University of Minnesota Pep Band members who participated in it, so that's what made it cool to me.

I went to Pound and Bone Builders this morning. I may go back to yoga tonight....or maybe not!

I also loved the photo, Tessu! I was up in the Sierra this week: we have almost no snow. Hardly even enough to snowshoe in most places...(Downhill skiing is continuing on artificial snow). Both there and down here in the Valley it has been quite warm, so walking a lot (or as much as I can with knee pain).

Second knee replacement (for the other not yet replaced knee) is Tuesday. Can't wait to be done with it and to have them both working right!

Just a quick stop-by: I subbed today & am going to a college basketball game at 5:00, so actually do not have time to exercise. I may possibly still get to 10,000 steps because I already got 6,000 while teaching 6th graders up on the 3rd floor of the school.....up & down, round & round!
